  1. 1. 0………. 4 --article continued from page 1— Vol. 47 August 30, 2022 Number 34 GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL Barry Kennedy To many the words world leaders bring about some strong feelings. From the beginning of time man has sought power. History tells of men like Alexander the Great, Nero, and Hitler who sought to rule with an iron fist. Many evil deeds were conducted under the rule of such leaders. There are still many today who would do anything to have such power. What many fail to understand is that God always has, and always will be in control. Nebuchadnezzar was forced to see this truth when he became too proud. Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty? While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. (Daniel 4:30-32). This same God rules today; therefore, we need not fear, no matter who may be in a leadership position. Hardships may, better yet, will come upon us in this life (2 Timothy 3:12; James 1:2). Trust in God, knowing that He cares for His own (Matt. 6:33; 1 Peter 5:7). This is much easier, knowing that God is still in control. Why not let God have the control of our lives now? One day we will have no choice. “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God” (Romans 14:11).
