This document outlines the requirements for an analysis and research project on energy sources for a high school technology class. Students must cover the evolution of energy sources throughout history, analyze existing renewable and non-renewable energy sources, research topics like the Chernobyl and Fukushima accidents and the Kyoto Protocol, analyze the local area's energy generation and distribution, and conclude with a bibliography. The project is due on February 24th and must be submitted in a dossier with specified formatting and content guidelines. It will be evaluated based on appearance, quality of content, research, originality, and demonstration of understanding.

ANALYSIS/ RESEARCH PROJECT ABOUT:
ENERGY SOURCES
INTRODUCTION:
Along History, the development of the societies has been linked to the production and
use of the different energy sources: from muscle power, then taking advantage of wind
and water, fossil fuels, to nuclear energy. But the production of the different energy
forms has triggered a serious impact in the environment, so that it is necessary to
develop and use clean energies based on renewable resources.
TITLE: ENERGY SOURCES
SCRIPT:
1. COVER
2. INDEX. All topics must be reflected in sequential order, specifying the number
of the page where they are.
3. EVOLUTION OF ENERGY SOURCES
• What energy source was used in each period of the History?
• What was the application or use of each energy source?
4. ANALYSIS OF THE EXISTING ENERGY SOURCES
• Compare the existing energy sources, separating them in renewable and
non-renewable (use a board).
• Explain at least two renewable energy sources, and other two non-
renewable (draw a picture explanation of each one).
• Identify the natural resource used in each energy source and explain it.
5. RESEARCH: Search for information in magazines, encyclopedias, Internet,
etc., and develop the next following topics about energy sources:
• Chernobyl (Ukraine) or Fukushima (Japan) accidents.
• Kyoto Protocol.
6. ANALYSE YOUR TOWNSHIP: Research about the place where the energy
consumed in Cantabria is generated. To do it, you can:
• Search in a map of Cantabria the different electric power plants
(hydraulic, solar, biomass…).
• Power lines: How the energy is transported from the power plants to our
homes: research about the substation near the high school, explaining
what it does and what is its use.
2. 7. CONCLUSIONS: They must be homegrown and not less than half a page.
8. BIBLIOGRAPHY: Make a detailed reference: title, author, publisher, etc.
DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 24th
2015. The students who had not delivered the Project
before deadline, will get (-10) points in the 1st
Term. Extensions won’t be allowed.
APPEARANCE:
- A4 format, white sheets. By hand or computer.
- Delivered in a plastic or cardboard DOSSIER (do not deliver single sheets).
- The cover shall contain:
- Reference to I.E.S. EL ASTILLERO
- Department of Technology.
- Title of the project
- Name and surname of the student
- Date
- Other data: no minimum number of sheets is set. Make sure to deal with the
issues clearly enough, and avoid copying texts or photocopy anything
without selecting the contents before. It is more important to write outlines,
summaries, graphics, photos, etc., as a result of your work, than many pages
full of text. Use more than two or three sources of information so that the
work done has got your personal stamp synthesis.
WHAT WILL BE EVALUATED:
- Quality of appearance: cover, cleanliness, spelling.
- Level and quality of the matter illustrations.
- Quantity and quality of the consulted documentation.
- Originality and personality of contents. Those projects very similar to
other classmates’ works, or the simple copy or photocopy of text and
graphics, will lose value.
- Identical works in its entirety shall be nullified.
- Summary tables, diagrams, graphs etc., of the various issues researched
will be mainly valued, especially if they are original of the student.
- Degree of assimilation of the project.
