Association’s Step Out Walk Is
Coming to Illinois

2. Introduction
 A board-certified family physician, Dr. Lamont
Tyler currently serves as the medical director of
the OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in
Bloomington, Illinois. In addition to promoting
family health through his practice, Dr. Lamont
Tyler also actively supports the American
Diabetes Association.
Each year, the American Diabetes Association
strives to educate the public about the threat of
diabetes and to galvanize people to take action
and raise funds to help the 29 million individuals
in the U.S. living with diabetes through its
signature Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes.

3. American Diabetes Association
 On September 26, 2015, the Step Out walk will
come to Normal, Illinois, to bring together the
community and to enjoy music, entertainment,
children’s activities, and of course, a
noncompetitive three-mile run.
Last year, the Step Out Walk in the McLean
County community raised nearly $53,000 to stop
diabetes. In addition to supporting research
grants for type 1, type 2, and gestational
diabetes, a portion of the funds raised through
Step Out events go to the American Diabetes
Association’s “Safe at School” campaign, which
supports robust diabetes management programs
at schools.
