EXAMINATION MODULE
CLASS PRE-NURSERY TO CLASS –II
There will be continuous evaluation of the performance of the child throughout the year in the form of
assessments.
CLASS III TO VIII
A. Formal Examination: There shall be two Periodic Tests (PT) for these classes during the
session beside Half Yearly Exam (HYE) and Annual Examination (AE). The syllabus for every
exam/test will be intimated to students prior to their exam / test.
B. Informal Examination: Along with the formal examination mentioned above, there shall be
another two informal assessments. They are:
1. Concept recapitulation(CR)- These assessments are short, informal, targeted tests that are
administered during class to help teachers gauge whether students understand key concepts.
They can be used both to assess students’ prior knowledge (coming into a course or unit) or
their understanding of content in the current course.
The primary purpose of concept recapitulation is to get a snapshot of the current
understanding of the class.
2. Surprise check(SC): In order to assess more effectively how well students have grasped
the lessons, SC (apart from CR) will be conducted time to time - both written and oral.
Weightage shall be as follows:
Average of PT will be given 10% weightage in both HYE & AE.
5 marks have been allotted for Subject Enrichment Activities (SEA) and 5 marks
have been allotted for quality of written work, timely submission and upkeep
of the copies (NB). These marks are also a part of the internal assessment marks
Forms of assessment (Formal Examination):
A. For classes 3-5
TERM-1(100 MARKS)
PT-1(40) NB(5) SEA(5) HYE(50)
TERM-2(100 MARKS)
PT-2(40) NB(5) SEA(5) AE(50)
B. For classes 6-8
TERM-1(100 MARKS)
PT-1(40) Reducing to 10 NB(5) SEA(5) HYE(80)
TERM-2(100 MARKS)
PT-2(40) Reducing to 10 NB(5) SEA(5) AE(80)

Forms of assessment (Informal examination):
FOR CLASSES 3-8
There will be Two CRs in TERM-1 and another two in Term-2 in an academic session. But there will
be as many SC as required.
 CR TIMELINE:
CR-1: JULY
CR-2: AUGUST, SEPT
CR-3: JAN
CR-4: FEB, MARCH
EXAMINATION PATTERN (IX – X).
As you all are aware that the present system of examination has been introduced by CBSE to replace
CCE. The salient features of the present system are as follows:
 Annual Board exam of 80 marks based on 100% syllabus.
 Apart from this three periodic exam to be conducted as follows:
 Periodic test I of 40 marks is based on 25 % of the syllabus.
 Half yearly examination of 80 marks is based on 50% syllabus.
 Periodic Test II of 80 marks is based on 75% Syllabus.
 Average of the best two of above three will be carrying a weightage of 10 marks in the final score.
5 marks have been allotted for subject enrichment activities and 5 marks have been allotted for
quality of written work, timely submission and upkeep of the copies. These marks are also a part of
the internal assessment marks.
 Students are required to score 33% in both theory and internal assessment to pass.
 Co-scholastic assessment for Work Education, Health and Physical education are included in
Health and Physical Education from 2018-19 onwards. Marks / grades will be given for the same
and art education for co-scholastic evaluation.
 Grade will be given for personal traits like discipline, punctuality, attendance, values etc.
 There will be two Pre- Board exams of 80 marks each before the final exam for Xth
and one
Revision Test for IXth
EXAMINATION PATTERN (XI – XII)
The examination schedule is divided into:
 Two quarterly tests of 25 marks each.
 Half yearly examination of 100 marks which includes theory and practical (except
Mathematics).
 Annual examination of 100 marks (Theory + Practical) based on complete syllabus of class XI.
 Three Pre-board exams on theory and one Mock practical exam will be conducted for class XII.
 According to the latest circular issued by the CBSE co-scholastic assessment in Work
Experience, Physical and Health Education are subsumed in Health and Physical education
from 2018-19 onwards. Students will be assessed under four strands viz. strand 1(Games /
Sports), Strand 2 (Health & Fitness), Strand 3 (SEWA) Strand 4 (Health and Activity card).
Students need to participate in all four strands to be eligible for writing the Board examination.
Grades / marks will be given by the board.

Marks / grades will be given for the same and art education for co-scholastic evaluation.  Grade will be given for personal traits like discipline, punctuality, attendance, values etc.  There will be two Pre- Board exams of 80 marks each before the final exam for Xth and one Revision Test for IXth EXAMINATION PATTERN (XI – XII) The examination schedule is divided into:  Two quarterly tests of 25 marks each.  Half yearly examination of 100 marks which includes theory and practical (except Mathematics).  Annual examination of 100 marks (Theory + Practical) based on complete syllabus of class XI.  Three Pre-board exams on theory and one Mock practical exam will be conducted for class XII.  According to the latest circular issued by the CBSE co-scholastic assessment in Work Experience, Physical and Health Education are subsumed in Health and Physical education from 2018-19 onwards. Students will be assessed under four strands viz. strand 1(Games / Sports), Strand 2 (Health & Fitness), Strand 3 (SEWA) Strand 4 (Health and Activity card). Students need to participate in all four strands to be eligible for writing the Board examination. Grades / marks will be given by the board.
