Pair Activity: Give a proverb/motto/advice that
you think has served as an inspiration to your life
endeavors. and share it to your pair. Afterwards,

MIRIAM DEFENSOR SANTIAGO:
Senator Santiago answered that she is still
qualified as a presidential candidate, despite his
battle with stage 4 lung cancer, pointed that
there is no provision in the 1987 Philippine
constitution prohibits a public official to run due
to health reasons. Duterte, won't debate with her
during the rebuttal, the Mayor said, "I don’t see
Sen. Santiago passing away within the next 20
years”. Santiago, later commented that nobody
any politician that has a record in resolving graft
and corruption cases, except Mayor Duterte.

RODRIGO DUTERTE:
Duterte tells that 60% of the infrastructure
projects were from Metro Manila and just 19% to
the regions of Mindanao. The Mindanao region
contributes to the country's export and
agriculture industry. Duterte reiterated that
federalism is a solution to the issue on the
Mindanao budget, vowing to end Manila-
centrism in government. He points that the
government should give Mindanao a larger
share of taxes.

RODRIGO DUTERTE:
Roxas, on the rebuttal said that he will focus
on the construction of bridges (particularly
in Zamboanga del Sur); he made it clear that
Mindanao has twice the amount of infrastructure
projects in the 5 years of the Aquino
administration, compared to the last 12 years of
Estrada and Arroyo administrations. Duterte
responded that there is no "Tuwid na Daan" (lit.
Straight Path) and he called as "Kulubot" (lit.
wrinkle) and reiterated that Mindanao has a
small share of the national budget.

article, “Why the youth should register to vote in
2016” by Faye Travilla.
2. After reading, students will identify the thesis,
antithesis and synthesis of the article.

Lesson persuasion

  • 2. ;NF VFD LEARNING OUTCOMES: 1. Students can develop and write paragraphs using the persuasion method. 2. Students can demonstrate consciousness on national and global development issues. 3. Students can persuade or convince readers through building sound and logical statements of an issue or certain subject.
  • 3. ;NF VFD MOTIVATION: “I will fight for what I know is right.”
  • 4. ;NF VFD ACTIVATING PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: Pair Activity: Give a proverb/motto/advice that you think has served as an inspiration to your life endeavors. and share it to your pair. Afterwards, volunteer to share your thoughts to the class. E.g. “Son, the only expectation you need is to become a little better everyday.”

  • 7. ;NF VFD WHAT IS A DIALECTIC METHOD? It is based on arguments. It has a thesis, an antithesis, and synthesis.
  • 8. ;NF VFD MIRIAM DEFENSOR SANTIAGO: Senator Santiago answered that she is still qualified as a presidential candidate, despite his battle with stage 4 lung cancer, pointed that there is no provision in the 1987 Philippine constitution prohibits a public official to run due to health reasons. Duterte, won't debate with her during the rebuttal, the Mayor said, "I don’t see Sen. Santiago passing away within the next 20 years”. Santiago, later commented that nobody any politician that has a record in resolving graft and corruption cases, except Mayor Duterte.
  • 9. ;NF VFD RODRIGO DUTERTE: Duterte tells that 60% of the infrastructure projects were from Metro Manila and just 19% to the regions of Mindanao. The Mindanao region contributes to the country's export and agriculture industry. Duterte reiterated that federalism is a solution to the issue on the Mindanao budget, vowing to end Manila- centrism in government. He points that the government should give Mindanao a larger share of taxes.
  • 10. ;NF VFD RODRIGO DUTERTE: Roxas, on the rebuttal said that he will focus on the construction of bridges (particularly in Zamboanga del Sur); he made it clear that Mindanao has twice the amount of infrastructure projects in the 5 years of the Aquino administration, compared to the last 12 years of Estrada and Arroyo administrations. Duterte responded that there is no "Tuwid na Daan" (lit. Straight Path) and he called as "Kulubot" (lit. wrinkle) and reiterated that Mindanao has a small share of the national budget.
  • 11. ;NF VFD ASSESSMENT: 1. Students are grouped by triad. They will read the article, “Why the youth should register to vote in 2016” by Faye Travilla. 2. After reading, students will identify the thesis, antithesis and synthesis of the article.
