Wake Acceleration Academy | June 2016 – Present
Assistant Director for Curriculum and Instruction – Supervise, evaluate and mentor a group of highly qualified teachers to
support students in their quest for a high school diploma. Ensuring the Content Coaches (teachers), Life Coach (social worker)
and Career Coach maintain their caseloads. Manage and coordinate all on site testing including but not limited to; Naviance,
Accucess, EOCs, ACT for our graduate candidates. Coordinate professional development for the staff. Ensure that all staff are
up to date with Human Resource requirements. Monitor special education compliance. Facilitate the Graduation Committee
and Ceremony. Customization of the digital learning as needed. Oversee the personalized learning plans for the graduate
candidates. Support model fidelity through collaboration with the Assistant Director of Program Management and Operations

Coordinating Teacher for Alternative Programs - Collaborate with a team of intervention specialists that focus on strong core
instruction, structured behavioral responses and a Multi-Tiered System of Supports for students. Work specifically with the
Alternative Programs for the District, including Alternative Schools and Alternative Learning Centers. Facilitate monthly PLT
meetings and trainings for the Alternative Learning Centers. Member of Core Team for the implementation of Response to
Intervention-behavior (RTI-b) for the district, as well as the district MTSS team. Develop and provide professional development
for schools. Instituted a new transportation process to route students to Alternative Programs from secondary schools. Provide

High School Team Leader/Alternative Learning Centers Coordinator – Managed eight teachers, both regular education and
special education, as well as the students in the district’s public separate high school. Wrote the high school schedule based on
student graduation needs. Monitored compliance for all high school special education records, as well as facilitating Individual
Educational Plan (IEP) meetings. Divided and monitored caseloads among the special education staff. Trained staff on use of
EASi IEP program. Developed and implemented a point and level system for the school, as well as individual behavior
intervention plans for students. Served as Special Education Chairperson for the school.
Athens Drive HS, Raleigh, NC | August 2011 – June 2012
Alternative Learning Center Teacher/District Coordinator – Designed, implemented, and facilitate the Alternative Learning
Centers (ALC) in all middle and high schools for the 16th
largest school district in the nation. Programing goals are to decrease
suspensions, increase graduation rates/grades, and develop relationships with disengaged students. Awarded grant of over
$4000.00 to train and implement 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens for the program. Facilitate monthly Professional Learning
Team (PLT) meetings with the Alternative Learning Center teachers, providing trainings as needed. Developed and monitor data
collection tool (google doc) for the ALC programs and report the data to the School Board. Implemented and ran the
Alternative Learning Center at Athens Drive High School. Facilitated the placement team and meetings, maintained daily
contact with parents and staff, provided direct instruction as needed, and maintained academic/behavioral records for all the
students that accessed the program.
Human Resources, Cary, NC | December 2010-June 2011
Beginning Teacher Support Program Coordinating Teacher for Special Programs –Supported and mentored 100% of the special
education beginning teachers that were referred to the program. Coordinated yearlong trainings for the beginning teachers by
collaborating with other teams within the Wake County School System. Designed and monitored a Wiki for the beginning
special education teachers. Provided individual plans for several beginning teachers regarding classroom management,
organizational issues, and caseload management.
Special Education Services Cary, NC | July 2010 – December 2010
School Based Coordinating Teacher, Western Area – Worked with and supported six middle and high schools regarding
compliance and training on a new IEP system for the school district. Monitored compliance at multiple schools as needed as
well as conducted special education audits. Developed systems and protocols for the district Continuous Improvement Plan.
Longview School, Raleigh, NC | August 2007 – June 2010
Consultant for Wake County Public Separate School- Served as the district liaison for all the secondary schools, providing
behavioral intervention plans and worked with school teams to review referrals for acceptance. Mentor teacher since 2000.
Managed text book budget. School Improvement Chair – coordinated monthly meetings, monitored school wide data and
arranged staff development within the allotted budget.
Rock Hill Independent School District | 2006 - 2007
Northwestern HS, Rock Hill, SC
Special Education Teacher- Modified Curriculum for students identified as intellectually disabled (mild) to emotionally disabled.
Implemented a reading program for the special needs population. Developed a behavior modification program for the school
that targeted repeat long-term suspended students.

Longview Public Separate School, Raleigh, NC
Consultant/Special Education Teacher – Taught all levels of English, Civics and Economics, Algebra 2 and Geometry to students
with severe emotional disabilities. Nominated Teacher of the Year by my peers in the year 2001. Lead the Curriculum Quality
Improvement Team. Served as English Department Chair, attended Assistant Principal of Instruction Meetings. Co-Lead Teacher
for the Night School Program for Long-term suspended special education students until 2003.

Implemented a reading program for the special needs population. Developed a behavior modification program for the school that targeted repeat long-term suspended students. Wake County School System | 1995 - 2006 Longview Public Separate School, Raleigh, NC Consultant/Special Education Teacher – Taught all levels of English, Civics and Economics, Algebra 2 and Geometry to students with severe emotional disabilities.
