This is a common challenge accepted by many corporations which see a need to satisfy investors
and remain relevant in their industry. In order to achieve massive growth HP needed to look beyond
operational efficiency and more to short–term innovative products and services. The challenge, was
how to achieve this short–term innovation. The case describes how HP created the Innovation
Program Office (IPO) to explore and develop innovative opportunities, and whether this concept
could be extended across HP's seven business segments. HP's IPO first started with the Personal

Trudging through an endless landscape of impossibly thick mud and making as little progress as a
boulder could once be compared to the painstaking task called research. However, as technology
has advanced, humanity has innovated endless global networks of connections to bring the world to
the fingertips of society. One of these is the infinite tool known as Google. While some of today 's
society is somewhat skeptical of the overwhelming expansion of the Internet, companies such as
Google have not only provided efficiency, but have guaranteed a future of advancement and vast
knowledge throughout the global community. As minds of mankind have fashioned pioneering
technology throughout history, they have always been met with some criticism; however, countless
numbers of them have succeeded in the face of doubt. Nicholas Carr wrote an article about the
effects of Google, and relates to these historical events. "[After] The arrival of Gutenberg 's printing
press...Italian Humanist Hieronimo Squarciafico worried that the easy availability of books would
lead to intellectual laziness, making men 'less studious' and weakening their minds". Although those
around Gutenberg were skeptical of the effects his innovation may cause on society, books actually
brought forth a new age of intelligence and more access to learning. The use of the Internet spreads
like a common cold, and many fear its massive existence. However, Carr realizes that Google may
turn out to be beneficial to us all.

Organizational Culture of Google Essay
Organizational culture is the essence of any company. It is the way a company separates
themselves from the market and especially, from their competition. According to an article in
Business Insider, "Corporate culture is the personality of a company and it can't be faked"
(Schawbel, 2013, Cultural research section, para. 1). For the purpose of this paper, I will be
investigating the corporate culture of Google Incorporated. Google was founded in 1998 by Larry
Page and Sergey Brin who met at Stanford University in 1995 (Google Company website).

In a company where the founder's still ensure that cereal is fresh in the cafeteria, and continually
solicit feedback from employees, there is a vested effort to show the value of the employees. When
you couple that with a flat organizational structure which empowers the lowest of employees to
make decisions, it further qualifies the organizational culture. It's really the people that make Google
the kind of company it is (Google Company Website).
Google embodied this particular culture because they decided very early on that their focus would
be on their employees, hence, causing them to opt for an employee–friendly culture. Google also
knew they wanted to be different in their approach to everything, and surround themselves with the
best people to do just that. A blogger for KISSmetrics wrote, "These interview questions may seem
unnecessary to some, but they are one method Google uses to filter and find the smartest, most
thoughtful candidates. If you want to run an extraordinary company, you need to hire extraordinary
people." (Bulygo, 2013, How google hires section, para. 7).
An organization like Google requires a leader with a bountiful amount of inspiration. The
organizational structure has very few vertical positions, so the few in those positions must be able to
inspire the many that will be making decisions during the course of their work. The very nature

an educated friend that knows everything. The internet allowed for companies such as Google to
become successful. Google is the most powerful and popular search engine that people like and use
daily, Despite there being other search engines, Google has the top rates because of its high speeds
and accuracy in search results. Using internet in your life is not wrong or harmful because it saves a

The gps also runs on the internet and it is very useful tool that many people around the world use to
find directions. Additionally, self–checkout at the supermarket is run by the internet. Self–checkout
is very helpful because it decreases the waiting lines at stores and many supermarkets have them
now. Both the store owners and shoppers are happy about this technology because it makes their
lives easier. Paying your traffic ticket was such a headache for some people where you had to go
to the police station and wait for the line to pay off your ticket but now with the new technologies
you can directly go online and set up you information and pay off your traffic ticket
Additionally, the internet helps the environment in many ways. For example, many trees are being
cut down every day in purpose of printing and for communication by sending mail. Google has
combatted this environmental issue by creating Gmail. According to the Rainforest Action Network,
"3.5 billion to 7 billion trees are cut down each year." Many businesses and individuals are making
an effort to use much less paper than in years past. Thanks to computers, smartphones, and cloud
storage, they can do so and still communicate with others and get their work done.
Furthermore, the internet is very helpful when it comes to education. Making researches might take
a long time or reading a book also takes a lot of time but with google search engines you can find
informations faster than looking in the library,

One of the major drivers of future success for both Google and Microsoft is the ability of both
companies to use software applications to "drive eyeballs" to advertisers. Each company is
positioned differently in this regard. Microsoft has a sizable, mature installed base of app users, but
the company's business model is currently focused on selling these apps as a consumer product to
users, rather than on advertising. Google, by contrast, has been focused for some time on utilizing
its industry–leading search engine and a growing, yet less mature, base of other apps to drive
eyeballs to advertisers. Both Google and Microsoft have to reckon with major...show more content...

Innovative Technology: Google Glass Essay
Google has made an effort on making a new device called Google Glass, which is innovative
device that has people visioning ways to enhance the product by communicating with people but not
all are convinced due to the invasive privacy by the documentation of using video recordings at

Although many people around the world are thinking of the uses they can make to use it everyday

recording feature in Glass has made insecurity to other human beings. There are people who wish
not to be recorded in public. In recent news in San Francisco, A lady named Sarah Slocum, A
local tech writer and marketing consultant was showing off her Google Glass at Haight Street bar

robbed. She was "approached by a small group which appear to dislike her Glass"(Kurtis
Alexander, SFGATE, Unfriendly Reaction) She described them that they were trying to shield
themselves from the recordings and until one girl from the group went in anger to stop her from
recording. Sarah then realizes she was the target that causes the hatred. This is when the young man
approaches her and violently assaults her and takes her Glass and runs out of the bar while other
members have taken her wallet, phone and purse. This incident demonstrates the people do not want
to be exposed, and unfriendly reactions can lead to such violence in the public. In relation to the past

What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a free service from Google which provides a core set of statistics and analytical
tools for website administrators to perform the tasks of web analysts such as search engine
optimisation and marketing purposes. It uses an advanced technology that can gather vast amount of
data to help measure how the company's presence and online marketing is working.
This powerful software has the ability to track website metrics, like the number of visits and
visitors, number of specific pages viewed, bounce rate, and abandonment rate. One of its more
outstanding features is its ability to track certain website pages, referred to as "goal", which can
identify what visitor actions you want to monitor....show more content...
In addition, visit depths and bounce rates are also analyzed by Google Analytics. Visit depths show
how many pages the user is requesting before leaving the site while bounce rates show what
percentage of users only view one page before leaving the website.
Aside from tracking goals, Google Analytics can track all different kinds of marketing initiatives
such as AdWords, other types of paid searches, social media, display advertising, email marketing,
and many other types of ad one can think of.
Google Analytics uses the Map Overlay report needed by any analyst in performing segmentation.
This involves deeper analysis into the data in order to understand how the segments or smaller
buckets of traffic are performed and ultimately impact the overall performance of the website. A
row of data shows all the values for a dimension, which is an attribute of a unique visitor or the
visits that they create like visitor's campaign name, country, browser version, speed of the ISP's
involved, average time spent, etc.
This Google service is available to anyone with a Google account. The registration process is so
easy that users do not need have their own hosting service, no need to update their DNS records
nor get on the phone to verify their identity. Google Analytics' basic setup involves the sign up
process by entering the string of code in the user's website page as well as any subsidiary pages the

Environmental Analysis of Google
Environmental Analysis of Google
Introduction Today, Google, Inc. is worth more than General Motors, McDonald's and Disney
combined, and the company continues to model the way in the global technology industry in which
it competes. In fact, the company's name has become a verb and it is common practice for
consumers to "Google" what they want to find online. To determine how Google, Inc. reached this
dazzling level of performance in a relatively short period of time, this paper provides an analysis of
the three external environments in which Google competes, the general environment, the industry
environment and the competitor environment. Next, a discussion of two specific strategic issues as
well as opportunities and threats that are facing Google, Inc. is followed by a summary of the
research and important findings in the conclusion.
Review and Analysis
External Environment General Environment. Today, Google, Inc. (hereinafter "Google" or "the
company") competes in the global technology industry where in holds a leading position. The
company remains committed to "improving the ways people connect with information" (Form 10–K,
2012, p. 3). The general environment in which the company competes is characterized by rapid
growth as well as industry convergence as existing technologies and platforms are stretched to their
limits (Hitt, Ireland & Hokisson, 2011). In this environment, Google has emerged as the major actor
that is modeling the way for others. For

Why Do You Use Google So Much?
By reading this article, one must realize that he or she is currently using Google, and possibly
that fellows around the globe are using Google services likewise. So why does everyone use
Google so much, one may ask. Well, that is because of how great and successful the company is
today in our modern world. Becoming so useful to everyone as a service company, Google remains
to be one of the largest, most revolutionary, and most successful corporations in the world.
On September 4th, 1998, a student studying at Stanford University, came up with a new idea with
his partner. They wanted to create a brand new search engine. Though they did not like each other
initially, they developed a friendship. These two prodigies formed something so...show more

After the latest marketing report/announcement of Google, it was determined that "Google 's parent
company Alphabet has a market capitalisation larger than Apple 's, as shares rose sharply in
after–hours trading" (BBC News on Your Mobile). From that point onwards, Google has
ultimately become the most valuable and beneficial company across the world, with a total net
worth of $520 billion. Struggling to gather one million from family, friends and a few other
investors, Mr. Brin and Mr. Page formally launched their company on September 7, 1998
originally known as the "Black Rub". Over the years, people have wondered about how a tiny
company that created a search engine itself could be so flourishing and achieve what they are
today. Google's success was based on one understandable insight from its founders Sergey Brin and
Larry Page. During late 1990's, they simply discovered that the rapid–growing, massive amount of
data material invading our cyberspace could be tamed and controlled by ranking search results
according to their popularity. As many of us already know, Google has progressed into new
business and they made it the world 's greatest search engine. Aside from that, Google has also
developed variable serviceable applications that can be used on most of the platforms we have
today, especially mobile devices.
When we were all young, our parents used to tell us about working with passion and bringing out
the best attitude we have. Believe it or not, Google

Case Study
The rise of Google, now a $6.1 billion company, has been fast and fierce. Founders Sergey Brin
and Larry Page met in 1995 as Stanford University graduate students. They created a search engine
that combined the technologies of Page's PageRank system, which evaluates a page's importance
based on the external links to it, and Erin's Web crawler, which visits Web sites and records a
summary of their content. Because Google was so effective, it quickly became the search engine of
choice for Web users. Today, Google handles nearly 50 percent of Web searches.
Google stopped displaying the number of Web pages it indexed after the number surpassed 8 billion
in 2005, but some estimates now place the number at 25 billion. Google's...show more content...
According to a widely cited estimate, Google only needs to spend $1 for every $3 its competitors
spend to deliver a comparable amount of computing power. This inexpensive, flexible infrastructure
explains the speed of Google Web searches and its ability to provide its users with such a vast array
of Web–based services and software tools.
Most of Google's revenue comes from online advertising and online search services. Google Search
Services enable organizations to include the Google search engine on their own Web pages. This is a
straightforward technology licensing arrangement–not groundbreaking, but profitable.
The side of Google that has driven its phenomenal growth and profits is its advertising program.
In a fraction of a second, Google's technology can evaluate millions of variables about its users
and advertisers, correlate them with millions of potential ads, and deliver the message to which
each user is most likely to respond. Because this technology makes ads more relevant, users click
on ads 50 to 100 percent more often on Google than on Yahoo!, creating a better return for
advertisers. According to eMarketer, Google grabbed about 70 percent of all paid search advertising.
In 2000, Google launched AdWords, a self–service advertising program in which vendors bid to have
their ads placed alongside the search results for specific keyword queries. In 2002, AdWords Select
introduced cost–per–click (CPC) pricing so that advertisers only

Google Ethical Issues Essay
Google, like any other successful companies, deals with ethical issues on a day–to–day basis.
Google's corporate mantra simply put – "Don't be evil" (Google), is what drives their corporate
ethics in doing business. Being the data juggernaut that they are, questionable business ethics arise
often in relation to privacy. In 2007, Google's controversy regarding Street View raised privacy and
security concerns. Street View allows for high–resolution photos enabling you to explore 360–degree
panoramic, street–level imagery of places once you type in the correct address. This could range
from vehicle license plates, properties, people doing mundane activities, as well as people in
compromising or out–of–context situations. And since Google's...show more content...
Google's defense also claimed that there is nothing wrong with collecting data from unsecured
wireless networks because those networks by nature broadcast their activity for the world to see.
Apparently, these are what we all are agreeing on when we are being asked to agree to terms upon
joining a wireless network. They claimed that the data gathering was for better marketing and that
it had no unlawful intent whatsoever. But after numerous protests around the world and
countless lawsuits the company giant faced after the controversy, Google ended its illegal
collection of WiFi data transmissions. The issues encompassing Google's privacy policy and
their business ethical practice is a vast issue to tackle. On Google's data gathering backlash: It's
easy to put your trust when a big company like Google asks you to enter your information on their
web browsers, in an encrypted connection or not. Scooping data at the back of your truck from
concealed WiFi receivers is a different story though. Weather it was an engineer's fault for the said
code to have saved the unencrypted information causing the entire fiasco, it's still questionable how
this kind of an overlooked management decision, could've slipped a big company like Google.
Being a company built on data business platform that claims to value privacy and respect users, the
project management should've been approached

Today, everyone uses Google. Google, Inc. is considered the considered to be the second most

use it multiple times a day, and would not be able to function without it.
Google was founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page, two students in Stanford University. While
they were in school, Brin decided a good idea for his doctoral thesis was to find a practical and
easy method of finding information from huge amounts of data. At the time, the internet was very

After they realized how popular their search engine was getting, they tried to sell it but their
offers were rejected. Eventually they decided to leave school and find investors. They were
incorporated on September 4, 1998 and moved their business into a garage. After five months they
needed a bigger space and moved to an office in Palo Alto. They managed to secure more funds but
their original idea of licensing their software was not making enough money. They realized they
would have to sell advertising to make money. They were initially reluctant to do this because they
thought other search engines that did this biased their results in favor of the companies they were
advertising. They felt that such subjectivism in results was unfair to their users who wanted the best
and most accurate information and that it went against their motto "Don't be evil," which was later
changed to "You can make money without doing evil." Brin and Page eventually decided they would
split their results into two sections, with advertisements on the right and regular, unbiased results on
the left. However, they refused to advertise certain things such as guns, illegal drugs, cigarettes, or
political attacks.
Google expanded quickly, as people started to be able to use Google on their phones as well as
their computers. Page and Brin also made agreements companies such as Yahoo, AOL, and

Google 's Objectives Of Google Essay
Google's Objectives
Google's main focus is to push the limits of existing technology to provide a fast, accurate and
easy–to–use service that anyone seeking information can access. Google has been focusing on
providing the best user experience possible. Its key ingredients are relevance, comprehensiveness,
freshness and speed providing users with best possible result.
Google wants to have an improved infrastructure to make their engineers more productive. They
want to expand the workforce for anticipated growth, expand further into international markets, and
continue developing new products.
Google wants to push their ad system since they take it very seriously. In addition, support thousands
of advertisers to use Google's AdWords program advertising.
It also focuses on innovation and make sure that their tools are running everywhere. Similarly,
competitor like Apple, Facebook has been attacking Google from all side so they focus on
development and research to bring new products to users.
Google have also financial objectives to promote their products and services on the web. Google
has been investing a lot these past years. Therefore, one of its financial objectives is to increase its
Return on capital employed. Furthermore its main source of income is advertisement where a
company's website pays google certain amount of money whenever their website is clicked.
Therefore, Google has to increase the cost per click in order to increase their revenue.

Google is named after the mathematical term "googol," defined as the value represented by a one

3. Google listed click fraud as one of the potential "worries" that can affect its revenue. In fact,
Google admitted to regularly paying refunds because of click frauds. Click fraud occurs a person,

However, as technology has advanced, humanity has innovated endless global networks of connections to bring the world to the fingertips of society. One of these is the infinite tool known as Google. While some of today 's society is somewhat skeptical of the overwhelming expansion of the Internet, companies such as Google have not only provided efficiency, but have guaranteed a future of advancement and vast knowledge throughout the global community. As minds of mankind have fashioned pioneering technology throughout history, they have always been met with some criticism; however, countless numbers of them have succeeded in the face of doubt. Nicholas Carr wrote an article about the effects of Google, and relates to these historical events. "[After] The arrival of Gutenberg 's printing press...Italian Humanist Hieronimo Squarciafico worried that the easy availability of books would lead to intellectual laziness, making men 'less studious' and weakening their minds". Although those around Gutenberg were skeptical of the effects his innovation may cause on society, books actually brought forth a new age of intelligence and more access to learning. The use of the Internet spreads like a common cold, and many fear its massive existence. However, Carr realizes that Google may turn out to be beneficial to us all. It is the way a company separates themselves from the market and especially, from their competition. According to an article in Business Insider, "Corporate culture is the personality of a company and it can't be faked" (Schawbel, 2013, Cultural research section, para. 1). For the purpose of this paper, I will be investigating the corporate culture of Google Incorporated. In a company where the founder's still ensure that cereal is fresh in the cafeteria, and continually solicit feedback from employees, there is a vested effort to show the value of the employees. When you couple that with a flat organizational structure which empowers the lowest of employees to make decisions, it further qualifies the organizational culture. It's really the people that make Google the kind of company it is (Google Company Website). Google embodied this particular culture because they decided very early on that their focus would be on their employees, hence, causing them to opt for an employee–friendly culture. Google also knew they wanted to be different in their approach to everything, and surround themselves with the best people to do just that. A blogger for KISSmetrics wrote, "These interview questions may seem unnecessary to some, but they are one method Google uses to filter and find the smartest, most thoughtful candidates. If you want to run an extraordinary company, you need to hire extraordinary people." (Bulygo, 2013, How google hires section, para. 7). An organization like Google requires a leader with a bountiful amount of inspiration. The organizational structure has very few vertical positions, so the few in those positions must be able to inspire the many that will be making decisions during the course of their work. In recent news in San Francisco, A lady named Sarah Slocum, A local tech writer and marketing consultant was showing off her Google Glass at Haight Street bar Molotov's. Sarah then realizes she was the target that causes the hatred. Google Analytics is a free service from Google which provides a core set of statistics and analytical tools for website administrators to perform the tasks of web analysts such as search engine optimisation and marketing purposes. It uses an advanced technology that can gather vast amount of data to help measure how the company's presence and online marketing is working. This powerful software has the ability to track website metrics, like the number of visits and visitors, number of specific pages viewed, bounce rate, and abandonment rate. • 11. Environmental Analysis of Google Environmental Analysis of Google Introduction Today, Google, Inc. is worth more than General Motors, McDonald's and Disney combined, and the company continues to model the way in the global technology industry in which it competes. In fact, the company's name has become a verb and it is common practice for consumers to "Google" what they want to find online. To determine how Google, Inc. reached this dazzling level of performance in a relatively short period of time, this paper provides an analysis of the three external environments in which Google competes, the general environment, the industry environment and the competitor environment. Next, a discussion of two specific strategic issues as well as opportunities and threats that are facing Google, Inc. is followed by a summary of the research and important findings in the conclusion. Review and Analysis External Environment General Environment. Today, Google, Inc. (hereinafter "Google" or "the company") competes in the global technology industry where in holds a leading position. The company remains committed to "improving the ways people connect with information" (Form 10–K, 2012, p. 3). By reading this article, one must realize that he or she is currently using Google, and possibly that fellows around the globe are using Google services likewise. So why does everyone use Google so much, one may ask. Well, that is because of how great and successful the company is today in our modern world. Becoming so useful to everyone as a service company, Google remains to be one of the largest, most revolutionary, and most successful corporations in the world. On September 4th, 1998, a student studying at Stanford University, came up with a new idea with his partner. They wanted to create a brand new search engine. Though they did not like each other initially, they developed a friendship. These two prodigies formed something so...show more content... After the latest marketing report/announcement of Google, it was determined that "Google 's parent company Alphabet has a market capitalisation larger than Apple 's, as shares rose sharply in after–hours trading" (BBC News on Your Mobile). From that point onwards, Google has ultimately become the most valuable and beneficial company across the world, with a total net worth of $520 billion. Struggling to gather one million from family, friends and a few other investors, Mr. Brin and Mr. Page formally launched their company on September 7, 1998 originally known as the "Black Rub". Over the years, people have wondered about how a tiny company that created a search engine itself could be so flourishing and achieve what they are today. Google's success was based on one understandable insight from its founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. During late 1990's, they simply discovered that the rapid–growing, massive amount of data material invading our cyberspace could be tamed and controlled by ranking search results according to their popularity. As many of us already know, Google has progressed into new business and they made it the world 's greatest search engine. Aside from that, Google has also developed variable serviceable applications that can be used on most of the platforms we have today, especially mobile devices. When we were all young, our parents used to tell us about working with passion and bringing out the best attitude we have. Believe it or not, Google Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Google Case Study Essay Case Study The rise of Google, now a $6.1 billion company, has been fast and fierce. Founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page met in 1995 as Stanford University graduate students. They created a search engine that combined the technologies of Page's PageRank system, which evaluates a page's importance based on the external links to it, and Erin's Web crawler, which visits Web sites and records a summary of their content. Because Google was so effective, it quickly became the search engine of choice for Web users. Today, Google handles nearly 50 percent of Web searches. Google stopped displaying the number of Web pages it indexed after the number surpassed 8 billion in 2005, but some estimates now place the number at 25 billion. Google's...show more content... According to a widely cited estimate, Google only needs to spend $1 for every $3 its competitors spend to deliver a comparable amount of computing power. This inexpensive, flexible infrastructure explains the speed of Google Web searches and its ability to provide its users with such a vast array of Web–based services and software tools. Most of Google's revenue comes from online advertising and online search services. Google Search Services enable organizations to include the Google search engine on their own Web pages. This is a straightforward technology licensing arrangement–not groundbreaking, but profitable. The side of Google that has driven its phenomenal growth and profits is its advertising program. In a fraction of a second, Google's technology can evaluate millions of variables about its users and advertisers, correlate them with millions of potential ads, and deliver the message to which each user is most likely to respond. Because this technology makes ads more relevant, users click on ads 50 to 100 percent more often on Google than on Yahoo!, creating a better return for advertisers. According to eMarketer, Google grabbed about 70 percent of all paid search advertising. In 2000, Google launched AdWords, a self–service advertising program in which vendors bid to have their ads placed alongside the search results for specific keyword queries. In 2002, AdWords Select introduced cost–per–click (CPC) pricing so that advertisers only Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Google Ethical Issues Essay Google, like any other successful companies, deals with ethical issues on a day–to–day basis. Google's corporate mantra simply put – "Don't be evil" (Google), is what drives their corporate ethics in doing business. Being the data juggernaut that they are, questionable business ethics arise often in relation to privacy. In 2007, Google's controversy regarding Street View raised privacy and security concerns. Street View allows for high–resolution photos enabling you to explore 360–degree panoramic, street–level imagery of places once you type in the correct address. This could range from vehicle license plates, properties, people doing mundane activities, as well as people in compromising or out–of–context situations. And since Google's...show more content... Google's defense also claimed that there is nothing wrong with collecting data from unsecured wireless networks because those networks by nature broadcast their activity for the world to see. Apparently, these are what we all are agreeing on when we are being asked to agree to terms upon joining a wireless network. They claimed that the data gathering was for better marketing and that it had no unlawful intent whatsoever. But after numerous protests around the world and countless lawsuits the company giant faced after the controversy, Google ended its illegal collection of WiFi data transmissions. The issues encompassing Google's privacy policy and their business ethical practice is a vast issue to tackle. On Google's data gathering backlash: It's easy to put your trust when a big company like Google asks you to enter your information on their web browsers, in an encrypted connection or not. Scooping data at the back of your truck from concealed WiFi receivers is a different story though. Weather it was an engineer's fault for the said code to have saved the unencrypted information causing the entire fiasco, it's still questionable how this kind of an overlooked management decision, could've slipped a big company like Google. Being a company built on data business platform that claims to value privacy and respect users, the project management should've been approached Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Most people use it multiple times a day, and would not be able to function without it. Google was founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page, two students in Stanford University. While they were in school, Brin decided a good idea for his doctoral thesis was to find a practical and easy method of finding information from huge amounts of data. At the time, the internet was very unorganized and the first search engines were not so effective. While Page was using AltaVista, a new search engine, he found information about links. Eventually they decided to leave school and find investors. They were incorporated on September 4, 1998 and moved their business into a garage. After five months they needed a bigger space and moved to an office in Palo Alto. They managed to secure more funds but their original idea of licensing their software was not making enough money. They realized they would have to sell advertising to make money. They were initially reluctant to do this because they thought other search engines that did this biased their results in favor of the companies they were advertising. They felt that such subjectivism in results was unfair to their users who wanted the best and most accurate information and that it went against their motto "Don't be evil," which was later changed to "You can make money without doing evil." Brin and Page eventually decided they would split their results into two sections, with advertisements on the right and regular, unbiased results on the left. However, they refused to advertise certain things such as guns, illegal drugs, cigarettes, or political attacks. Google expanded quickly, as people started to be able to use Google on their phones as well as their computers. Page and Brin also made agreements companies such as Yahoo, AOL, and EarthLink, and allowed other sites to put the Google search box on their web pages, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
