2. Memento
At the start of this thriller opening, the opening titles appear on screen with a
photocard of a room covered with blood in the background of the screen. It
appears to be from a crime scene. The film then continues as we see the
events which had go on prior to that photo being taken as we see a close up of
a bullet, this may have been used to show the significance of what something
so small could have a massive effect on a situation. We also see a close up of
glasses that emphasises the effects of the bullets may have had then the
events of what had occurred prior to the man on the floor being shot is played
backwards revealing that he was shot by the man who took the photo of the
crime scene. However, this

3. Zodiac
In the opening of this thriller, we see an extreme wide shot of a city which we
then find out seconds later is Vallejo in California and we switch to a Point of
View shot from a car as it is driving through a neighbourhood as it stops to pick
somebody up. We then learn that the driver of a yellow car is a female who is
wearing a dress that some may believe is revealing, this could suggest that her
intentions towards her male passenger were to be sexually related. The car
arrives at a remote and more quiet area which shows that both characters were
in a pursuit of peace to share between themselves but are constantly
interrupted by a car which makes the audience question as to why it is doing
this. The curiosity from the audience is amplified when someone from this car
comes to their window and shoots both of them, leaving no clue as to why they
did this and this is a cliffhanger being used.

4. Brick
In the opening of this thriller, an extreme close up of a male character is used
which then zooms out into a normal close up. We then see dead female body
lying on the floor just at the end of the sewers and is soaked with water all over
it, this was used build suspense towards the audience and the male character
who is staring at the body may be seen to be a villain, the glasses in which he
was wearing can suggest that he is of a mysterious character and may have
been obsessive towards the woman lying on the floor. There’s a bit of a
cliffhanger at the end of this as we do not know who he is speaking to or
whether he was responsible for what happened to the lady on the floor.
