The United States set a record for exports in 2014, reaching $2.34 trillion which exceeded the GDP of Brazil and economies of India, Italy, and Mexico. Exports are becoming an increasingly important part of the US economy. Economic theory states that exports are goods and services sold to other countries and are included in the calculation of GDP. Research shows growth in exports may be due to free trade agreements and growth in industries like agriculture, oil/gas and aircraft. For example, exports to China have increased significantly in recent years. The Bible calls Christians to conduct business ethically and treat international partners with dignity, suggesting Scripture should influence pursuing mutual benefit in trade.
