2. Costești is a commune
located in Vâlcea County,
Romania. It is composed of
four villages: Bistrița,
Costești, Văratici and
Pietreni.
3. The Arnota Monastery is
a Orthodox cult site in
Romania belonging to
the Archbishopric of
Râmnic. It is located in
the village of Bistrita
(commune Costesti) in
Valcea county. The
monastery was founded
by Matei Basarab and
his wife Elina, and the
church is dedicated to
the "Archangels Michael
and Gabriel.
4. It is characterized by a
nearly 80% mountainous
relief and the hilly rest.
This fact also influenced
the occupation of the
inhabitants of the
commune, about 3600-
3700 in number, which is
oriented towards the
exploitation of wood and
its processing, the
