India does not need a Jan Lokpal institution to fight corruption. [1] Corruption arises due to complicated rules and a system that does not get work done efficiently. [2] To reduce corruption, the government must pursue massive administrative reforms that simplify rules, outsource services, automate processes, and hold officials accountable for results. [3] Focusing on fixing the underlying problems in how government functions is more important than finding people to blame.
