Green Bay Case Study
At the moment the crown of New York Giant defensive back Leon Hall's helmet illegally impacted Green Bay wide receiver Jordy Nelson's mid
section during the second quarter of Sunday's Wild Card win legions of Green Bay fans watching collectively gasped. As Nelson crumpled to the
frozen tundra Cheesehead Nation had to immediately wonder how 1.) the the end result of an obviously serious injury would translate not just for the
rest of that game (he didn't return) but also for the remainder of the post season. And 2.) why Hall wasn't flagged, ejected or both amidst a closely
contested contest to that point which saw the Giants clinging to a 3–0 lead. Funny thing, though, that happened upon Nelson's exit to the locker room
for tests and evaluation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For an offense largely stuck in neutral and at times appearing uninspired early on it was a surprising turn of events to say the least. In order to
understand the Packers' recent aerial resurgence you have to look a little closer as to what makes all systems go in Green Bay. And the surprising
answer is that it's not just the result of an improved bounce–back campaign from the ex–Kansas State Wildcat Nelson. Understandably, he'd been the
subject of a wide range of speculation heading into training camp and the regular season. To be expected for a player in his first year back from
major reconstructive knee surgery. And in spite of the whispers that perhaps he'd lost a step and in parallel to the uncertainty surrounding such a
comeback Nelson's been nothing short of spectacular to the tune of 97 receptions for 1257 yards and a league–high 13 touchdown catches. Obviously,
the loss of Nelson certainly draws focus to his prolific stat–line and the imminent question about who steps up to fill in with a win–or–go–home bout at

The BCS National Championship Game Essay
From the first two national champions, Rutgers and Princeton, to last year's debateable Auburn national championship winning team, college football
has always had difficulties deciding national champions. The BCS National Championship game was thought to give a less prejudice opinion on which
teams play in the championship game than humans did. However, it has stimulated more controversy in college sports than Cal–Stanford "The Play."
The problem with the BCS teams is, it chooses two teams that are based on profit, popularity, and record. The BCS is in need of replacement by a
playoff system because with a playoff system college football teams have more of an opportunity to show themselves.
A playoff system would be beneficial to college ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of those teams finished with one loss on the season and finished first and fourth in the BCS polls, Utah finished sixth. One third of the
standings are also based on coach's polls this means that one third of the standings are based off of bias people who don't watch every game each
week, thus, making them incapable of deciding who should be ranked and who shouldn't. A playoff system would eradicate such controversy by
allowing teams such as Utah to play in a playoff.
"Surely, the NCAA and Division I–A football can join the other 23 intercollegiate sports and devise a system that determines a true champion,
preserves the integrity of the game and levels the playing field, LaVell Edwards, Former Brigham Young University Coach." This statement was
made to the Senate last summer by the only coach to win a national championship at Brigham Young. In every other collegiate sport in the United
States the champion is decided by a playoff system. Even the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL the champion is decided by a playoff. The excuse that
most of BCS executives is that you cannot have one hundred twenty teams playing in a playoff. Nevertheless, the FCS formerly Division 1–AA who
has one hundred forty teams plays under a very effective 16 team playoff format. The BCS has infringed themselves among college football due to the
root of all sins, money. In January 10, 2010

College Athletes Should be Paid
College Athletes Kim Kardashian's ex lover is not just famous for dating a "Kardashian"; he was more famous for the controversial issue with the
NCAA due to proceeds given to him for his ability on the field. Reggie Bush made a lot of accomplishments while being a college athlete. Because of
his skills, he was rewarded an amount of money. While Reggie Bush was playing at the University of Southern California, statistics show that the
college generated roughly fifty–five million dollars. That's a lot of money for one athlete to bring in. Every day we hear more and more stories about
NCAA investigators and colleges being punished for "paying" players. However, college athletes bring in a lot of money. Therefore, they should get
a percentage whether it is a small amount or a large amount. It will depend on the athletes' ability. While some may argue that paying college athletes
to play is wrong, college athletes have a marketable skill and should be paid for their skill. Reggie Bush was one of the best running backs in college
sports. He won the Heisman award and was named Freshman All– American. The University of Southern California, the college Reggie Bush was
playing for also won a bowl game. So this big issue comes up about the college paying him to play, and should the NCAA revoke his award. Reggie
Bush just told them they could have the Heisman award, and that he did not want it if it would be that big of a deal. Due to the University of Southern
California paying

NCAA March Madness Regression Report
In this project, many different statistics were used to try and predict the winners of the NCAA March Madness tournament. To do this, statistics were
tested from the previous year to see if they moderately correlated to winning games. When a stat is moderately correlated, that means it relates to
winning. Using a scatter plot, a graph that gives a visual of whether or not a stat is correlated, correlation coefficients were found for each stat. The
correlation coefficient is a decimal that shows if a set of numbers is moderately correlated. After finding stats that were the closest to being moderately
correlated, a metric was put together that used the best stats to determine which teams will win games. The stat that was the closest to being
moderately correlated was the turnover ratio of the teams. Another stat that was almost moderately correlated was RPI, or Rating Percentage Index.
This stat uses a team's win percentage, their opponents' win percentage, and their opponents' opponents' win percentage to rank teams. Also, missed
field goal percentage was a stat that was used.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a catch, however. If any stat was strongly correlated, basketball games would already be decided before the game starts. The team with the
highest strongly correlated stat would win every game, and there would be no point to the tournament. Strong correlations are an impossibility
anyway, because the game of basketball has so many variables. Injuries, crowds, nervousness, and plain luck could make any team win a game, and
these variables are unchartable. If one team has the best field goal percentage and the best RPI, but they get nervous, they could lose. Metrics can't
count for nervousness. These variables prevent one team from winning every game every time and, at the same time, make watching March Madness a

Principles Of The Football Bowl Association
Shalah Newsome
SPM 2000
Assignment 2: Business Principles Applied to Sport
First Principle Area
The management principles are very important in the Football Bowl Association. Their main objective is the following; "The 41 bowl games aim to
create a unique experience for the fans that travel and show support beyond the regular season games."(FBA) The Football Bowl Association strives
through the fans they gain from various college football games. They have to plan and organize 41 bowl games that will take place are the United
States of America. This involves reserving the field, hotels, prizes, and events. For each bowl game the players are also given a chance to give back
their own time to communities around the city they will play in, this usually involves visiting hospitals or helping out at food banks. (FBA) The all
has to be planned and organized with specific detail and dealing with weather and transportation for a large number of teammates. When the events
are being planned the manager in charge is required to be able to lead making sure everything is going according to schedule, as well as having good
communication skills to make sure nothing is left out. The manager in charge of these events has to have quick decision making skills in case an event
falls through. Every single thing can be planned down to the smallest detail, but unfortunately everything cannot be controlled. Florida is one of the
most bipolar states when dealing with weather and can literally

Why College Athletes Should Get Paid And Why They Shouldn't
November 18, 2014
Ebeling 2
Intro:
How much harder would athletes work if they were paid for their performance on the field, track, or court? College athletes are put to the test each and
everyday, they risk their health to entertain millions day in and day out. College athletes deserve part of the money due to the revenue they bring in for
their schools and for the NCAA, they deserve the money because they do not have time to get a job because they are practicing and training at least
40 hours a week, they should also get paid because they are used as marketing models for the ncaa and for their universities. College athletes also
should not get paid because they are already getting paid in scholarship money. College athletes deserve to get paid because they are putting their
bodies on the line just so the NCAA and their sponsors can make money.
Lit Review:
Throughout my paper I will demonstrate many different ideas on whether college athletes should get paid why they should not. I will talk about the
things paying the athletes will do for the NCAA, how it is unfair for athletes to be used and not get anything out of those moments, and they generate
revenue for the NCAA just on certain players presence. I will also talk about why college athletes should not get paid. They

and wear the same gear. The heroes will wear light blue jerseys with HEROES spelled out in black across the front of their jerseys. The villains will

The Rugby Game : My Favorite Team In Football
`Authors Note: I am upset because my favorite team in football, the Dallas Cowboys, has lost their last game against the Green Bay Packers with a
final score of 35 to 31. The Cowboys had a chance in the dying minutes of the game to score and win the game. This fanfiction is going to be a
bizarre twist on the of the last two minutes of the game with the commentators' speech. The commentators' names are Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. I am
also going to change the magnitude of the game to the winner goes to the Super Bowl so this is the NFC Championship game. "The score is thirty–five
to thirty–one with the Packers leading. The Cowboys have received the ball on their own twenty–five–yard line with one minute and thirty–two
seconds left in the ball game" Joe states. The Cowboys must score a touchdown for them to win the ball game. "Dak Prescott takes the snap, looks
deep, but dumps it off to Elliot for a pick up of twelve yards and a first down! Elliot, however, stayed in–bounds so the clock keeps running" Troy
Aikman exclaims. The Cowboys ended up spiking the ball on their own thirty–two–yard line to stop the clock with one minute and ten seconds. "Yeah
boys! Great bocking o–line and great play Elliot. If we play like this we will win this game for sure" Dak Prescott, the star quarterback of the Dallas
Cowboys, encouraged to Ezekial Elliot the rookie running back that has been a key factor in the Cowboys' latest success. "Prescott hikes the ball and

Patriot employees claim they were asked to cheat for the team, and Patriots claims about weather conditions are false. The Colts were not the first

Excel Sheet Analysis
Through the use of the excel sheet we were able to see the relationship that temperature has on pressure. As a result, we were able to come to the
conclusion that the New England Patriots in fact cheated during their 2015 AFC Championship game. We were able to determine that when the
temperature decreases the pressure of the ball naturally decreases. According to physics the ideal gas law states that as temperature is reduced, the
pressure will also be reduced.
Our excel sheet began when the balls were first inflated during the Patriots 2015 AFC Championships. The balls started off in the locker room during
that was at a temperature of 70 В°F. However, as the game progressed the temperature dropped. As a result, the final temperature was 50

Art Briles Case Study
It's a crazy world that we live in.
So crazy, in fact, that even when a coach turns a blind eye while a massive sexual assault scandal implodes the very program he helped turn into a
national powerhouse, is still considered one of the premiere coaching candidates in college football.
Art Briles, the soon–to–be 61–year old former Baylor Head Coach is looking for work. His entire life, both playing and coaching has been spent in the
state of Texas, dating back to his playing days from 1974–1977 for Houston. Since then, Briles has worked his way through the ranks to a 99–65
record, as well as becoming one of the best talent developers in the entire country.

Since 2013, Briles compiled some pretty impressive recruiting classes given the state of Baylor as a less–attractive version of the Texas Longhorns.
Respectively, Baylor ranked 41st, 36th, 26th, and 27th from 2013–2016 according to 247Sports. In that same span, Malzahn managed the 10th, 8th,
6th, and 9th best recruiting classes in the country.
The kicker between the two class rankings is what was done with them. From 2013–2016, Briles compiled a 32–7 record at Baylor, while Malzahn was
28–15 with a 13–12 SEC record as mentioned before. In conference, Baylor was 22–5 under Briles from 2013–2016. One thing Briles knows how to
do is win inside his conference, something Malzahn has struggled with mightily since taking over for the Tigers.
If Malzahn does lose his job at Auburn, and Briles is considered, it may just be the best move the Tigers could make from a football standpoint. If
you're looking at the media scrutiny and off–field issues Briles brings with him, then it makes no sense at all. Briles is a public relations disaster right
now, but could soon begin repairing his image through speaking and apologizing if he even remotely hears or feels that he's in the running for major

Deflate-Gate In Football
When deflate–gate first happened I thought to myself, why not just tell the truth. Immediately it became a circus. Why try and play the aloof card?
There is no doubt in my mind that Tom Brady had something to do with footballs being deflated. It is an absurd thought that an equipment manager
of such a high profile quarterback would take a decisions like deflating the footballs into his own hands. The thing that really bugs me about the
whole thing, is that if Tom Brady would have just admitted it, or admitted some part to if, this would not even be a big deal. He could have easily
just said, I like the footballs closer to the lower end of the PSI level or under. This became a major ordeal because he could not just admit his mistake,
he cheated and instead of being honest, he tried to deny it. This teaches and shows what poor character some of the best athletes in the world can have.

least, his coach would tell him to speak up and in the initial preceding and be honest. But obviously, Belichick kept out of it. I don't really know how
the NFL works when it comes to coach and player relationships, but you would think that there would be some advisement in this situation. I was a fan

Last week we looked extensively at Wisconsin's chances to make the College Football Playoff. We will be re–evaluating that in future weeks. For this

playoffs we can see why each game is important and how each game affects the Badgers. Keep in mind that in the last two years, teams that ranked in

They still need Auburn to lose again, but they play Alabama so that is possible. LSU will struggle to look too far ahead as they play Alabama this
week. A win in this game would turn the whole SEC and the whole country on its head. A loss here would all but end LSU's chances at the playoff.
Talk about a big game. 14. Oklahoma (6–2) Oklahoma is in prime position to win the Big–12, but in a conference where they are the highest ranked
team, that win may not mean enough to make it to the playoff. 15. Colorado (6–2) Colorado was able to hang with Michigan when they played in week
three, and lost to a resurgent USC a few weeks after that. Still, with two losses, Colorado controls its destiny. They still have Washington State and
Utah on their schedule, but both of those games are at home, and if they win out they will have a chance to reach the championship game. Win there
and anything can happen. 16. Utah (7–2) Utah, you had a good chance at it. The loss to Washington hurts, but the Utes put up a good fight and are not
out of the race. If they beat Colorado in their last game of the season they could still make it to the PAC–12 championship game and get another shot at
Washington. Revenge and a conference title would be so sweet for Utah. 17. Baylor

Persuasive Essay On Preparing For A Game
Preparing for a game is done different by every player. It is a task people take seriously. In a way there is no "right" way to properly prepare for a game.
A bare minimum or on a regular basis, staying hydrated, eating well, and keeping top notch sleeping habits will help preparation for a game. To
some extreme precautions are taken, to some just a routine will do, to some countless hours of study will do, to some two chocolate chip cookies right
before a game will do, to some all of the above will be an easy way to prepare for a game. Preparing for a game can take minutes to days to weeks and
is ultimately flexible.
Preparing for a game starts early in the week. Film is the first step. Watching film constantly and getting comfortable with the opponent will give an
athlete supreme confidence. Even the professionals do it, no athlete is too popular to not prepare correctly. "He was up at 1:30 a.m. studying the
Atlanta Falcons just hours after the Patriots defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game" (McKenna 2). Even at such an emotional
high of making it to the Super Bowl, Tom Brady still knew he had to start preparing for his next game. He knew it was going to take time like it
usually does, putting in the work will bring out the results. "Tom Brady spends 16 hours per day on football in the week leading up to a game"
(McKenna 1). Putting in practice hours and film study will enhance performance on the field or on the court later in the week. Athletes

College Athletes Should Be Paid
Intro: Imagine this: full time job, full time college student. Tying to juggle your job and academics at the same time, putting equal time in for each.
Then, at the end of the month you didn't get paid for the work that you were achieving in your job. This is how college athletes are feeling today.
Ineffective, useless and unproductive. Many people in the college sports industry are getting paid except for the people who are accomplishing the
most, the athletes. They put in the work, time, and effort to their athletics but their academics are being overlooked totally. With so many mixed
emotions and laws standing in the way, there has not been as much commotion over this issues as there should be. College athletes should be getting
paid because of the work that they are putting into the system, and the results that they are getting out of the game and audience. More likely to stay in
school– If college athletes had the chance to be able to get paid it would solve many issues. One being, they would stay in college for longer. They
would not jump out early and head to the pros just because of the money. Sometimes the decisions to leave college is purely economical and
sometimes it is just a portion of their decision, either way they would be making some sort of money. We are all kids still, so much money attracts us

Dishoff System Research Paper
Imagine you are coaching a team in college. You have had a great season and you've only lost 1 game and won your division. However, you lose
your spot in the playoff to another team that was undefeated. How would this make you feel? The BCS should be replaced with a playoff system in
College Football. Replacing the BCS with a playoff system would give each of the eleven conferences (and the FBS Independents) an equal
opportunity to compete for the national championship. Most teams are left out of the BCS due to 1 loss, even though they might've had a great
season. A playoff system would even up the playing field, allowing more teams to compete for the National Championship. No teams with 2 losses

Higher–ranked schools have an option to weaken to protect their undefeated record. Higher–ranked teams can pay lower–ranked schools to play against
them. This would allow the higher–ranked team to avoid a loss. Many teams pay lower–ranked teams to play against them. For example, Alabama (#1
ranked team in College Football) paid West Kentucky (6–7 record) $1.3 million to play them. Another example is Miami (FL) (ACC Coastal
Champion) paid Arkansas State (3–5 record) $300,000 to play them (Rovell 1).
A lot of people state that since there are so many teams, there is no way to play each team. This is wrong for the following reason. Every team doesn't
have to make the playoffs. Only one of every conference (and one from the FBS Independents with six teams in them). Every team has a conference
(besides the FBS Independents) which means every team has a chance to compete in their conference championship game. This would mean that every
team in each conference (including an FBS Independents championship) would have an equal opportunity to make the playoffs (NCAA

Female Professional Sports Than Male
Yes, and one of the main reasons form that I see is that there are not as much female professional sports than male. When I look at college sport pages

thinking of RSM 317 and the 6 ways the media portrays the female athlete. Out of the 6 ways you really do not see Athletic competence. Athletic
competence is the way the athlete is portrayed in uniform, on court, or in action. An example of how men differs from women is http://i.cdn.turner.com

Football Is A Popular Sport Essay
Football is a game that has a major impact on the fans, cities, and history of multiple teams and organizations. Many can connect to the game on an
emotional basis and that is why football is such a popular sport today. There have been a lot of people that have contributed to this sport from the
beginning to today's time. They have helped create a basis for the game (rules, field length, field goal size, etc.), decide how to crown a champion,
and start organizations to help athletes. There have also been multiple coaches that have played major roles in leading their team and progressing the
game to what it is today. While coaches play an important role, there are also individual games that have shaped the way the game is played along
with the rules. Each of these things have been key and instrumental in progressing the game through time while building one of the most beloved and
popular sports of today's time, and Football is a game that will have a long future ahead of it. Before talking about where football came from one
must first look at what sport it evolved from. When the sport first began it was similar to rugby, which had been around for quite some time at that
point. Football began to evolve through time to an extent that it is being played in public schools across the country and also gaining a worthy
following. Then came along Walter Camp, the football coach at Yale from 1888
–1892 and Stanford from 1892–1894. While Camp attended Yale he

Should College Athletes Be Paid?
Should College Athletes Be Paid? The topic I chose for my research paper is if college athletes should be paid. College athletes should be paid for
what they do for their schools. Athletes do so much for their schools that it is crazy. People do not realize how much an athlete actually does for
their school. Being a college athlete is almost like having a real job. A lot of time and effort goes into everything that they do. They have a lot more
difficult of a schedule than a regular student. Throughout my paper I will be discussing what exactly a college athlete does for their respected school.
There are multiple reasons why college athletes should be paid. College athletics is a Multi–billion dollar business. Some schools make an absolute
fortune off of their athletic programs. The University of Texas football team makes the most revenue out of any other collegiate football program in the
country. On average, the university makes 92 million dollars a year off of their football team. That's from ticket sales, concession sales and merchandise
sales. The school makes almost one–hundred million dollars a year from their football team and the reason they make all of this money is from the
players (Smith). Without the players, none of this would be possible. The players get absolutely nothing. Granted that most of them are on some sort of
scholarship, but still, that does not compare at all to the amount of money the

Affluenza Thesis
Based on "Webster's dictionary definition, affluenza is described as a lack of motivation, feelings of guilt, and a sense of isolation. But what really
does this mean? Psychologist G. Dick Miller who defends Ethan Couch, claims that affluenza is "a condition fostered by wealthy and permissive
parents who encourage their children to believe normal rules do not apply to the affluent." If rules don't apply to higher society and wealthy is an
economic addiction or obsession, then how does this impact human society? According to "Washington Post, affluenza affects "young kids or adults in
their rich world refering to them as "poor little rich kids". The psychologist said "due to their inadvertently deprived of the opportunity to develop an
inside."... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Movie Report : Cinderella Stories
Abstract
The reason I decided to research and write about cinderella stories in sports is very simple, they make sports fun and exciting. Everyone loves to root
on the underdogs and see them win the "David vs. Goliath" battle. There are so many different cinderella stories to choose from while they spread
throughout every sport. While researching, I found that although there have been thousands of them, some cinderella stories get more publicity than
others. Some stories get told more than others for some reason, why is that? This essay will help us all understand that question a little better.
Cinderella stories are constantly arising and are one of the reasons sports are so enjoyable. It is important to conduct this research because it needs
to be brought to people's attention that sports are more than just a game with a winner and a loser. Sports are stories that are told through action.
Sports introduce us to cinderella stories who make our experience that much more enjoyable. Cinderella stories are a huge part of the athletic world
and they deserve so much more attention. The main point of this research is to provide people with a better understanding to who and what cinderella
stories truly are. Why they are considered cinderella stories and why their stories deserve to be told. Keywords: Cinderella Story, Sports

Tom Brady: In-Related Or Underinflated Footballs Against...
Tom Brady will serve his 4–game suspension his up coming season, after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has upheld the league's decision to
suspend the quarterback. Brady was suspended four games in May after footballs used by the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game
against the Indianapolis Colts were deflated. Playing with either inflated or underinflated footballs is against the NFL guidelines, which state all
footballs used during games must be 12 1/2 to 13 1/2 pounds. The footballs the Patriots used during the AFC Championship Game were 2 pounds under
the league's requirement. Brady and the Patriots would go on to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 45 to 7, which placed them in the Super Bowl XLIX game.

Deflategate: The Wells Report
In recent discussions of so called "Deflategate," a controversial issue has been whether or not Tom Brady was guilty of being implicitly aware of
footballs being illegally deflated to give the New England Patriots an unfair advantage during the AFC Championship game. A report was published on
May 6th By the NFL (Investigative Report Concerning Footballs Used During the AFC Championship Game on January 18th, 2015. Hereafter
referenced as the Wells Report) which found that the footballs were deflated to such a point where human intervention was the only explanation. On
one hand, the NFL Executive Vice President Troy Vincent argued in his suspension letter to Brady that Brady was guilty due to his lack of
cooperation with the NFL investigation, and his evasion of scrutiny on the subject. From this perspective, Brady both lying about knowing a staffer and
also refusing to provide the subpoenaed messages from his phone (Ian Rappaport, ESPN contributor. May 11, 2015) both point to his guilt. ... Show

Several of the deflated balls in question were only a few pounds per square inch under the regulation levels, which could perhaps be explained by the
temperature difference in where the ball was inflated and where it was played. In the words of Kevin Hassett, Stan Veuger, and Joseph Sullivan, some
of this view's main proponents, who published a paper contradictory to the Wells report, "our replication of the report's analysis finds that it relies on an
unorthodox statistical procedure at odds with the methodology the report describes" (On the Wells Report, June 12, 2015). According to this view, the
footballs were not intentionally deflated therefore making Brady innocent. In sum, then, the issue is whether Brady's subsequent actions after the
beginning of the investigation incriminate him, or if the deflated footballs became deflated

Affluenza Synthesis
A new has entered the American vocabulary: affluenza. Affluenza is defined as the unsustainable addiction to economic growth. Many scholars,
writers, and comedians have made America's affluenza mentality as a warning to the American people, as well as the bud of jokes. Based on human
nature, and strive for a more advanced life; Americans are truly people who need more growth. Affluenza is a characteristic that humans have been
exemplifying for centuries. Aristotle, an ancient Greek scholar, states, "He is happy who lives in accordance... and is sufficiently equipped with
external goods"(Source A). People have always wanted more, which will make their lives happier. Human nature is never satisfied, people will always
strive for the next better thing. Americans do have a mentality related to affluenza, not because they are greedy, but because human nature is ready for
best entity. People are always trying to have a more advanced life. John Stuart Mill, an eighteenth century British philosopher, believed that people need
better items to achieve happiness. "A being of higher faculties requires more to make him happy..."(Source... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

nations and times were also interested in economic growth. Andrew Carnegie, writer of Wealth, states that other societies were comparable to
American society. "Little difference between us and (Indians)"(Source G). Americans are not over consumed with their economics, Americans and

Team Playoff Case Study
Sports have always served as a distraction from the rest of the world, and hopefully, the Badgers will gain some votes of their own as the season
winds down. With wins over Nebraska and Northwestern in the past two weeks, Wisconsin sits at No. 7 in the college football rankings. With a few
weeks left in the regular season, and then conference championship games, there is still plenty of time for the Badgers to make their move. If they
win out and win the conference championship game, it will be hard to keep them out, even with two losses. Here are the teams to root for and against
if you want to see Wisconsin in the Playoff.
BIG TEN
Root For: Michigan, Nebraska
Meeting an undefeated Michigan in the Big Ten Championship would be a chance for Wisconsin to get revenge and make it into the Playoff. If
Michigan loses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Root Against: Oklahoma, if you want
The Big 12 is not getting a playoff team unless there is chaos at the top of the standings. Oklahoma is the highest–ranked team in the conference, and
they could still make a move with their backloaded schedule, but without a conference championship game and without much respect for the
conference Oklahoma does not have much of a chance, but they have the Big–12's best chance.
PAC 12
Root For: Washington State, PAC–12 South Champion
Washington State plays Washington in the last week of the season, and winning that game would ruin Washington's chances and keep them out of the
conference championship game and likely out of the playoff race.
If Washington State fails to derail Washington before the conference championship game, then it will be up to the South Division Champion to beat the
Huskies in the conference championship. Washington likely will not get into the Playoff without a conference championship, and the South Champion
(likely Colorado, USC, or Utah) will have a chance to beat

Tom Brady Case Study
Its Official...The NFL Season is already in mid season form. Tom Brady's court case against the league is underway and a "Franchise QB" is now on
the injury report and listed as OUT for 6–10 weeks due to shall we say friendly fire. First we need to give to respect to the 2015 NFL Hall of Fame
Class that was lead by Charles Haley, Junior Seau and Jerome "The Bus" Bettis.
Now let's get down to business since the NFL has. Who would have thought that the psi(pounds per square inch) would be such a hot topic? Since the
AFC Championship game all we have heard about was "Deflate Gate" and how Tom Brady is a cheater. It's hard to believe that Brady alone would be
the only person on trial here. He is the only person who is taking the brunt punishment and possible tarnishing of a legacy square on the chin. League
commissioner Roger Goodell earlier this off–season fined the New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and the organization 1 million dollars, took

Front–runner
In Carolina's two games this postseason, the Panthers have jumped out to huge leads. Leading 31–0 against the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional
Round and 24–7 against the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game at halftime of both games, the Panthers have become accustomed to
front–running. Carolina has been a front–running team all year, scoring early and often en route to a league–high 15 wins. If the Panthers can get out
to a big early lead against the Broncos, Denver's offense doesn't seem equipped to make a big comeback. Carolina quarterback Cam Newton, who was
named NFL MVP Saturday night, was the runaway front–runner to win the award after a stellar regular season.

College Athletes : National Collegiate Athletic Association
As writer Jon Saraceno would say, "The NCAA [National Collegiate Athletic Association] is a tax

rulebook denser than the New Testament" (Saraceno 38). He explains that the NCAA has various rules, and coaches and players do not know what is
right or wrong. Others view that athletes are already receiving pay with scholarships. Athletes in higher revenue generating sports, comparable to
basketball and football, are usually more likely to earn a full–ride scholarship. Full–ride scholarships allow an athlete to attend institutions at little to no
cost. Without full–ride or partial scholarships, certain players could not afford to attend school. This is due to the poverty in areas where... Show more

People all over the United States believe that a selection of the money should go back to the players. They believe not much, but a little bit of the
revenue made would go back into a fund to pay these college athletes. The argument against giving these players compensation starts with the athletic
departments. These people say that the athletic departments already operate under the red. However, the athletic departments cannot operate in the
red since they bring anywhere from $30 million to $163 million in revenue every year. The only schools that possibly operate in a deficit would be
the smaller, less popular schools. Although to help out, the BCS, Bowl Championship Series, gives 83.4% of their $174 million in revenue from 5
bowl games to 6 different conferences. When the conferences develop the money, they split the money with the colleges of their conference. For
example, in 2007, the $36 million made from the BCS championship game was disrupted to Florida and Ohio State along with their conferences
(Saraceno). In addition to making the universities money, the athletes also create revenues for the schools with shoe companies, and also the TV
networks. One shoe can make a massive revenue for the shoe company and also the athlete's college on the assumption that this certain athlete is
famous. Exploiting college athletes act as the main agreement for paying players. Exploitation is defined by the action or fact of treating somebody

Deflategate Scandal Report
A football involved in the Deflategate scandal involving the New England Patriots, their quarterback Tom Brady, and the National Football League
(NFL), has sold at auction, fetching $43,739.99, according to The Washington Post.
The ball was used in the 2014 AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and the Indanapolis colts. Tom Brady handed the ball off to
LeGarrette Blount in the third quarter of the game, and Blount carried it into the endzone.
At the completion of the touchdown, Blount dropped the ball in celebration, where by it was picked up by Patriot's receiver Brandon LaFell and
delivered to a fan in the stands, now known to be Laura Nichols.
Nichols chose to hand the ball over to the auction house Lelands.com, to handle the sale of the ball. The ball was acutioned Saturday, with a ereserve
of $25,000. After just five bids, the auction concluded, and the Deflategate memorabilia sold for less than the anticipated six figures, but for far more
than what Nichols paid for it – nothing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

much that particular ball was used in the first half, it was in the rotation of deflated Patriot's footballs. The Wells report cited the testing of four balls

Anthem Racism Essay
Are all of the different types of national anthem protest in the NFL equally effective at protesting racial injustices in the US, or are they all just being
disrespectful to the flag and the country? There are many ways players and teams are protesting the National Anthem in the NFL today. The Seattle
Seahawks locked arms and stood, the Pittsburgh Steelers didn't even come onto the field, and the Arizona Cardinals were allowed to do whatever they
felt was right. All of these teams claimed that they were demonstrating unity and standing up for racial equality. The most effective way was
demonstrated by the Seahawks because they displayed their stance on racial injustices in the most professional way. And while it is clear that these
protests have made an uproar in the NFL community, it is not clear on how effective all the different types of protests are.
This is not the first time professional athletes have protested racial injustices in front of the entire nation to see. During the 1968 Olympics runners
Tommie Smith and John Carlos held a fist in the air while wearing beads and cloth for shoes to protest the lynching and poverty of African–Americans.
And in 1996, Mahmoud Abdul–Rauf, a point guard in the NBA, was suspended a game for sitting during the National Anthem. His reason for sitting
was that it was against his religion. He was scrutinized for this and after his contract was up he never played in the NBA again, and this was during
the prime of his career. During the

Trends In College Sports
Rutgers–Trending: Down
Despite winning their first conference game of the season by 23, Rutgers still remains on the down trend. While they avoided joining Boston College

with very little chance of winning any games in the tournament.

Their 8–10 conference record does include a victory over Wisconsin and an overtime loss to Maryland (ranked number seven at the time.) While they
have had a sub–.500 Big Ten record in every season since 2003–2004, 20 wins in a season is no small accomplishment. A BPI of 71 puts Northwestern
in the territory of bubble teams Temple, St. Bonaventure and LSU, and a first round matchup against a slumping Michigan team gives Northwestern a
chance for a quality win to build on.
Michigan–Trending: Down
Michigan is among Joe Lunardi's First Four out, and will likely need two wins in the Big Ten tournament to feel better about their tournament chances.
After starting conference play 7–2 Michigan has gone 3–5 and 1–4 against ranked teams. They do not have a loss to any team ranked below them in
the conference, but only have two wins against teams ranked above them. The Michigan Wolverines are the pinnacle of the adage "beat who you are
supposed to beat" but they will likely need to beat some better teams in the conference tournament if they want to go dancing in March.

Descriptive Essay Football
That morning I had a really good feeling about today. That morning was a dry, and so humid you wouldn't believe it. The sun was shining bright and
the clouds were gleaming with excitement. It was Thursday. My team called it Championship Thursday because we were fighting to win a national
title in Myrtle Beach. As I arrived at the field for our first game which was the first game of bracket play. Yesterday was pool play. We played 6 pool
play games and won them all so that put us in the number one seed. That's mean we had a pretty easy game ahead of us. As the day continued we

I was nervous, out of my mind nervous. Everyone was, especially our coaches. When we stepped on the field I had a good feeling that we were
gonna step off the field as national champions. After we got everything set up in our dugout we went to warm up. As we were hitting in the batting
cages teams were coming up to us and saying how amazing we were and how bad they wanted us to win this game. This made us even more pumped
to win. After we got back from the batting cages it was so packed with people and there were many softball and baseball teams there to watch the
game. We had to take grounders and pop flies. Which we were doing really good. As I waswarming up our number one pitcher I was watching the

Should Student Athletes Be Paid?
It is mid–February and for college athletes and fans everywhere that means that the College Football "Bowl" season is over and "March Madness"
is around the corner. The "Bowl" Season is a series of college football games from the elite teams, sponsored by various corporations and "March
Madness" is a 68 team single elimination tournament to decide who the best team in college basketball is. For the students involved they get a
chance to have their legacy live on forever and for some it is a chance to show professional teams they have what it takes to compete on the next level,
but for the universities it is a chance to bring in millions of dollars in revenue. As a student–athlete, and a volunteer basketball coach, I believe that it is
unfair that student athletes across the country have decided to give their lives to these sports in hopes that they get lucky and "win the lottery" by
making in into professional sports. I believe that student athletes have earned the right to be compensated for their hard work, dedication and
commitment to these universities across the country. On January 12th 2015 Ohio States football team strapped on their helmets and laced up their
shoes to play The Oregon Ducks football team in the BCS Championship Game on National television. This year was particularly special because the
NCAA changed the format for the Bowl Season for this year but for the foreseeable future. This year was the first year of the playoff system, in years

College Athletes Should be Paid Essay
College sports are big business. For many universities, the athletic program serves as a cash–generating machine. Exploited athletes generate millions
of dollars for the NCAA and their schools, and never see a dime. In terms of profit, if all ties with the university were eliminated, an athletic program
acting as its own separate entity could compete with some fortune 500 companies. So, why do the vital pieces of the machine, the players, fail to
receive any compensation for their performance? The answer lies in the money–hungry NCAA and their practice of hoarding all the revenue. College
athletes should receive payment for their play to make their college experience more bearable because they create huge profits and... Show more content

Opponents against paying student–athletes say that they should not be paid because through scholarships, they're already being paid. Yes, a scholarship
is a form of payment. A scholarship is nice, but it is not enough. A scholarship will not pay the bills. Moreover, unlike ordinary students without
athletics, student–athletes must also many times care for families and spouses. Actually, approximately 24% of student athletes are married, and of
that 24%, about 62% have children. Of the students without their own spouses or children, many must care for parents and siblings. It wouldn't hurt
universities to give back a little. The average Division One School profits $6 million per year on basketball and football alone. Consider that, some
universities such as the university of Florida or University of Michigan profit more than $10 million per year on their respective athletic programs. At
least three–college football teams; Michigan, Florida, and Notre Dame, are each worth more than the NFL's Detroit Lions. Today, networks and cable
channels pay hundreds of millions of dollars for the right to televise college football games. NCAA basketball, which has its wildly popular March
Madness, is currently in the middle of a contract that pays almost $2 billion.

Many of the motivational methods that Coach Meyer's uses can be easily adapted to any small group setting. He wants his players to not only be
accountable to the coaches, but to each other, so he created a leadership committee that consists of team players representing each grade level.
Coach Meyer says, "We are looking for the Leadership Committee to enhance team chemistry, police the team from within and exemplify what it
means to be leaders, both on and off the field." (www.teamcaptainsnetwork.com). The Championship club is designed to reward players for
academics, success on the field, with conditioning and training, and in their personal lives. Coach Meyers likes to recognize and reward
achievements. Part of being an effective leader is building relationships. Coach Meyers and his coaching staff do everything they can to know as
much about each player as possible. He hopes that by building relationships on and off the field will encourage the players to do their best and they
will not want to let you down on the field and off the field, (www.teamcaptainsnetwork.com).
"A good leader, with good ideas and exciting directions, can generate enthusiasm, support, and cohesion," Tubbs, (2012, p. 225). Coach Meyers is a
good example of this because when he started with Ohio State in 2011 the team was not eligible for any BCS bowl games because of the actions of the

Green Bay Case Study: Jordy Nelson Injury Impact

  • 1. Green Bay Case Study At the moment the crown of New York Giant defensive back Leon Hall's helmet illegally impacted Green Bay wide receiver Jordy Nelson's mid section during the second quarter of Sunday's Wild Card win legions of Green Bay fans watching collectively gasped. As Nelson crumpled to the frozen tundra Cheesehead Nation had to immediately wonder how 1.) the the end result of an obviously serious injury would translate not just for the rest of that game (he didn't return) but also for the remainder of the post season. And 2.) why Hall wasn't flagged, ejected or both amidst a closely contested contest to that point which saw the Giants clinging to a 3–0 lead. Funny thing, though, that happened upon Nelson's exit to the locker room for tests and evaluation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For an offense largely stuck in neutral and at times appearing uninspired early on it was a surprising turn of events to say the least. In order to understand the Packers' recent aerial resurgence you have to look a little closer as to what makes all systems go in Green Bay. And the surprising answer is that it's not just the result of an improved bounce–back campaign from the ex–Kansas State Wildcat Nelson. Understandably, he'd been the subject of a wide range of speculation heading into training camp and the regular season. To be expected for a player in his first year back from major reconstructive knee surgery. And in spite of the whispers that perhaps he'd lost a step and in parallel to the uncertainty surrounding such a comeback Nelson's been nothing short of spectacular to the tune of 97 receptions for 1257 yards and a league–high 13 touchdown catches. Obviously, the loss of Nelson certainly draws focus to his prolific stat–line and the imminent question about who steps up to fill in with a win–or–go–home bout at Dallas on the ... • 2. The BCS National Championship Game Essay From the first two national champions, Rutgers and Princeton, to last year's debateable Auburn national championship winning team, college football has always had difficulties deciding national champions. The BCS National Championship game was thought to give a less prejudice opinion on which teams play in the championship game than humans did. However, it has stimulated more controversy in college sports than Cal–Stanford "The Play." The problem with the BCS teams is, it chooses two teams that are based on profit, popularity, and record. The BCS is in need of replacement by a playoff system because with a playoff system college football teams have more of an opportunity to show themselves. A playoff system would be beneficial to college ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of those teams finished with one loss on the season and finished first and fourth in the BCS polls, Utah finished sixth. One third of the standings are also based on coach's polls this means that one third of the standings are based off of bias people who don't watch every game each week, thus, making them incapable of deciding who should be ranked and who shouldn't. A playoff system would eradicate such controversy by allowing teams such as Utah to play in a playoff. "Surely, the NCAA and Division I–A football can join the other 23 intercollegiate sports and devise a system that determines a true champion, preserves the integrity of the game and levels the playing field, LaVell Edwards, Former Brigham Young University Coach." This statement was made to the Senate last summer by the only coach to win a national championship at Brigham Young. In every other collegiate sport in the United States the champion is decided by a playoff system. Even the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL the champion is decided by a playoff. The excuse that most of BCS executives is that you cannot have one hundred twenty teams playing in a playoff. Nevertheless, the FCS formerly Division 1–AA who has one hundred forty teams plays under a very effective 16 team playoff format. The BCS has infringed themselves among college football due to the root of all sins, money. In January 10, 2010 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. College Athletes Should be Paid College Athletes Kim Kardashian's ex lover is not just famous for dating a "Kardashian"; he was more famous for the controversial issue with the NCAA due to proceeds given to him for his ability on the field. Reggie Bush made a lot of accomplishments while being a college athlete. Because of his skills, he was rewarded an amount of money. While Reggie Bush was playing at the University of Southern California, statistics show that the college generated roughly fifty–five million dollars. That's a lot of money for one athlete to bring in. Every day we hear more and more stories about NCAA investigators and colleges being punished for "paying" players. However, college athletes bring in a lot of money. Therefore, they should get a percentage whether it is a small amount or a large amount. It will depend on the athletes' ability. While some may argue that paying college athletes to play is wrong, college athletes have a marketable skill and should be paid for their skill. Reggie Bush was one of the best running backs in college sports. He won the Heisman award and was named Freshman All– American. The University of Southern California, the college Reggie Bush was playing for also won a bowl game. So this big issue comes up about the college paying him to play, and should the NCAA revoke his award. Reggie Bush just told them they could have the Heisman award, and that he did not want it if it would be that big of a deal. Due to the University of Southern California paying ... • 4. NCAA March Madness Regression Report In this project, many different statistics were used to try and predict the winners of the NCAA March Madness tournament. To do this, statistics were tested from the previous year to see if they moderately correlated to winning games. When a stat is moderately correlated, that means it relates to winning. Using a scatter plot, a graph that gives a visual of whether or not a stat is correlated, correlation coefficients were found for each stat. The correlation coefficient is a decimal that shows if a set of numbers is moderately correlated. After finding stats that were the closest to being moderately correlated, a metric was put together that used the best stats to determine which teams will win games. The stat that was the closest to being moderately correlated was the turnover ratio of the teams. Another stat that was almost moderately correlated was RPI, or Rating Percentage Index. This stat uses a team's win percentage, their opponents' win percentage, and their opponents' opponents' win percentage to rank teams. Also, missed field goal percentage was a stat that was used.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a catch, however. If any stat was strongly correlated, basketball games would already be decided before the game starts. The team with the highest strongly correlated stat would win every game, and there would be no point to the tournament. Strong correlations are an impossibility anyway, because the game of basketball has so many variables. Injuries, crowds, nervousness, and plain luck could make any team win a game, and these variables are unchartable. If one team has the best field goal percentage and the best RPI, but they get nervous, they could lose. Metrics can't count for nervousness. These variables prevent one team from winning every game every time and, at the same time, make watching March Madness a fun ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Principles Of The Football Bowl Association Shalah Newsome SPM 2000 Assignment 2: Business Principles Applied to Sport First Principle Area The management principles are very important in the Football Bowl Association. Their main objective is the following; "The 41 bowl games aim to create a unique experience for the fans that travel and show support beyond the regular season games."(FBA) The Football Bowl Association strives through the fans they gain from various college football games. They have to plan and organize 41 bowl games that will take place are the United States of America. This involves reserving the field, hotels, prizes, and events. For each bowl game the players are also given a chance to give back their own time to communities around the city they will play in, this usually involves visiting hospitals or helping out at food banks. (FBA) The all has to be planned and organized with specific detail and dealing with weather and transportation for a large number of teammates. When the events are being planned the manager in charge is required to be able to lead making sure everything is going according to schedule, as well as having good communication skills to make sure nothing is left out. The manager in charge of these events has to have quick decision making skills in case an event falls through. Every single thing can be planned down to the smallest detail, but unfortunately everything cannot be controlled. • 6. Why College Athletes Should Get Paid Ebeling 1 Austin Ebeling English 115 Why College Athletes Should Get Paid And Why They Shouldn't November 18, 2014 Ebeling 2 Intro: How much harder would athletes work if they were paid for their performance on the field, track, or court? College athletes are put to the test each and everyday, they risk their health to entertain millions day in and day out. College athletes deserve part of the money due to the revenue they bring in for their schools and for the NCAA, they deserve the money because they do not have time to get a job because they are practicing and training at least 40 hours a week, they should also get paid because they are used as marketing models for the ncaa and for their universities. College athletes also should not get paid because they are already getting paid in scholarship money. College athletes deserve to get paid because they are putting their bodies on the line just so the NCAA and their sponsors can make money. Lit Review: Throughout my paper I will demonstrate many different ideas on whether college athletes should get paid why they should not. I will talk about the things paying the athletes will do for the NCAA, how it is unfair for athletes to be used and not get anything out of those moments, and they generate revenue for the NCAA just on certain players presence. I will also talk about why college athletes should not get paid. They Ebeling 3 should not get paid for these specific reasons they already get paid with

  • 10. The Rugby Game : My Favorite Team In Football `Authors Note: I am upset because my favorite team in football, the Dallas Cowboys, has lost their last game against the Green Bay Packers with a final score of 35 to 31. The Cowboys had a chance in the dying minutes of the game to score and win the game. This fanfiction is going to be a bizarre twist on the of the last two minutes of the game with the commentators' speech. The commentators' names are Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. I am also going to change the magnitude of the game to the winner goes to the Super Bowl so this is the NFC Championship game. "The score is thirty–five to thirty–one with the Packers leading. The Cowboys have received the ball on their own twenty–five–yard line with one minute and thirty–two seconds left in the ball game" Joe states. The Cowboys must score a touchdown for them to win the ball game. "Dak Prescott takes the snap, looks deep, but dumps it off to Elliot for a pick up of twelve yards and a first down! Elliot, however, stayed in–bounds so the clock keeps running" Troy Aikman exclaims. The Cowboys ended up spiking the ball on their own thirty–two–yard line to stop the clock with one minute and ten seconds. "Yeah boys! Great bocking o–line and great play Elliot. If we play like this we will win this game for sure" Dak Prescott, the star quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, encouraged to Ezekial Elliot the rookie running back that has been a key factor in the Cowboys' latest success. As a result, we were able to come to the conclusion that the New England Patriots in fact cheated during their 2015 AFC Championship game. According to physics the ideal gas law states that as temperature is reduced, the pressure will also be reduced. Our excel sheet began when the balls were first inflated during the Patriots 2015 AFC Championships. The balls started off in the locker room during that was at a temperature of 70 В°F. • 14. Deflate-Gate In Football When deflate–gate first happened I thought to myself, why not just tell the truth. Immediately it became a circus. Why try and play the aloof card? There is no doubt in my mind that Tom Brady had something to do with footballs being deflated. It is an absurd thought that an equipment manager of such a high profile quarterback would take a decisions like deflating the footballs into his own hands. The thing that really bugs me about the whole thing, is that if Tom Brady would have just admitted it, or admitted some part to if, this would not even be a big deal. He could have easily just said, I like the footballs closer to the lower end of the PSI level or under. This became a major ordeal because he could not just admit his mistake, he cheated and instead of being honest, he tried to deny it. Oklahoma (6–2) Oklahoma is in prime position to win the Big–12, but in a conference where they are the highest ranked team, that win may not mean enough to make it to the playoff. 15. Colorado (6–2) Colorado was able to hang with Michigan when they played in week three, and lost to a resurgent USC a few weeks after that. Still, with two losses, Colorado controls its destiny. They still have Washington State and Utah on their schedule, but both of those games are at home, and if they win out they will have a chance to reach the championship game. • 16. Persuasive Essay On Preparing For A Game Preparing for a game is done different by every player. It is a task people take seriously. In a way there is no "right" way to properly prepare for a game. Then, at the end of the month you didn't get paid for the work that you were achieving in your job. This is how college athletes are feeling today. Ineffective, useless and unproductive. Many people in the college sports industry are getting paid except for the people who are accomplishing the most, the athletes. They put in the work, time, and effort to their athletics but their academics are being overlooked totally. However, you lose your spot in the playoff to another team that was undefeated. How would this make you feel? The BCS should be replaced with a playoff system in College Football. Replacing the BCS with a playoff system would give each of the eleven conferences (and the FBS Independents) an equal opportunity to compete for the national championship. Most teams are left out of the BCS due to 1 loss, even though they might've had a great season. Many can connect to the game on an emotional basis and that is why football is such a popular sport today. There have been a lot of people that have contributed to this sport from the beginning to today's time. They have helped create a basis for the game (rules, field length, field goal size, etc.), decide how to crown a champion, and start organizations to help athletes. There have also been multiple coaches that have played major roles in leading their team and progressing the game to what it is today. While coaches play an important role, there are also individual games that have shaped the way the game is played along with the rules. Each of these things have been key and instrumental in progressing the game through time while building one of the most beloved and popular sports of today's time, and Football is a game that will have a long future ahead of it. Before talking about where football came from one must first look at what sport it evolved from. When the sport first began it was similar to rugby, which had been around for quite some time at that point. Football began to evolve through time to an extent that it is being played in public schools across the country and also gaining a worthy following. Then came along Walter Camp, the football coach at Yale from 1888 –1892 and Stanford from 1892–1894. While Camp attended Yale he actually played ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Should College Athletes Be Paid? Should College Athletes Be Paid? The topic I chose for my research paper is if college athletes should be paid. College athletes should be paid for what they do for their schools. Athletes do so much for their schools that it is crazy. People do not realize how much an athlete actually does for their school. Being a college athlete is almost like having a real job. A lot of time and effort goes into everything that they do. They have a lot more difficult of a schedule than a regular student. Throughout my paper I will be discussing what exactly a college athlete does for their respected school. There are multiple reasons why college athletes should be paid. College athletics is a Multi–billion dollar business. Some schools make an absolute fortune off of their athletic programs. The University of Texas football team makes the most revenue out of any other collegiate football program in the country. On average, the university makes 92 million dollars a year off of their football team. That's from ticket sales, concession sales and merchandise sales. The school makes almost one–hundred million dollars a year from their football team and the reason they make all of this money is from the players (Smith). Everyone loves to root on the underdogs and see them win the "David vs. Goliath" battle. There are so many different cinderella stories to choose from while they spread throughout every sport. While researching, I found that although there have been thousands of them, some cinderella stories get more publicity than others. Deflategate: The Wells Report In recent discussions of so called "Deflategate," a controversial issue has been whether or not Tom Brady was guilty of being implicitly aware of footballs being illegally deflated to give the New England Patriots an unfair advantage during the AFC Championship game. A report was published on May 6th By the NFL (Investigative Report Concerning Footballs Used During the AFC Championship Game on January 18th, 2015. Hereafter referenced as the Wells Report) which found that the footballs were deflated to such a point where human intervention was the only explanation. On one hand, the NFL Executive Vice President Troy Vincent argued in his suspension letter to Brady that Brady was guilty due to his lack of cooperation with the NFL investigation, and his evasion of scrutiny on the subject. The Seattle Seahawks locked arms and stood, the Pittsburgh Steelers didn't even come onto the field, and the Arizona Cardinals were allowed to do whatever they felt was right. All of these teams claimed that they were demonstrating unity and standing up for racial equality. The most effective way was demonstrated by the Seahawks because they displayed their stance on racial injustices in the most professional way. And while it is clear that these protests have made an uproar in the NFL community, it is not clear on how effective all the different types of protests are. This is not the first time professional athletes have protested racial injustices in front of the entire nation to see. During the 1968 Olympics runners Tommie Smith and John Carlos held a fist in the air while wearing beads and cloth for shoes to protest the lynching and poverty of African–Americans. And in 1996, Mahmoud Abdul–Rauf, a point guard in the NBA, was suspended a game for sitting during the National Anthem. His reason for sitting was that it was against his religion. He was scrutinized for this and after his contract was up he never played in the NBA again, and this was during the prime of his career. During the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Trends In College Sports Rutgers–Trending: Down Despite winning their first conference game of the season by 23, Rutgers still remains on the down trend. While they avoided joining Boston College as the only Power–5 schools to go winless in conference play, Rutgers still had a season to forget. They enter the Big Ten tournament as the 14 seed with very little chance of winning any games in the tournament. Minnesota–Trending: Down A bad season gets worse for Minnesota as they lost by 25 points to Rutgers on Saturday. To shoot 30 percent from the field against a team ranked 272nd in field goal percentage against only begins to show how bad this loss is. Minnesota reached a high point of the season after beating Maryland on February 18, but player suspensions and bad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their 8–10 conference record does include a victory over Wisconsin and an overtime loss to Maryland (ranked number seven at the time.) While they have had a sub–.500 Big Ten record in every season since 2003–2004, 20 wins in a season is no small accomplishment. A BPI of 71 puts Northwestern in the territory of bubble teams Temple, St. Bonaventure and LSU, and a first round matchup against a slumping Michigan team gives Northwestern a chance for a quality win to build on. Michigan–Trending: Down Michigan is among Joe Lunardi's First Four out, and will likely need two wins in the Big Ten tournament to feel better about their tournament chances. After starting conference play 7–2 Michigan has gone 3–5 and 1–4 against ranked teams. They do not have a loss to any team ranked below them in the conference, but only have two wins against teams ranked above them. The Michigan Wolverines are the pinnacle of the adage "beat who you are supposed to beat" but they will likely need to beat some better teams in the conference tournament if they want to go dancing in March. • 37. Descriptive Essay Football That morning I had a really good feeling about today. That morning was a dry, and so humid you wouldn't believe it. The sun was shining bright and the clouds were gleaming with excitement. It was Thursday. My team called it Championship Thursday because we were fighting to win a national title in Myrtle Beach. As I arrived at the field for our first game which was the first game of bracket play. Yesterday was pool play. We played 6 pool play games and won them all so that put us in the number one seed. That's mean we had a pretty easy game ahead of us. As the day continued we one 2 more. We had a little break after the third game. Next game was what we were all dreaming of, the national championship game. It was time. I was nervous, out of my mind nervous. Everyone was, especially our coaches. When we stepped on the field I had a good feeling that we were gonna step off the field as national champions. After we got everything set up in our dugout we went to warm up. As we were hitting in the batting cages teams were coming up to us and saying how amazing we were and how bad they wanted us to win this game. This made us even more pumped to win. After we got back from the batting cages it was so packed with people and there were many softball and baseball teams there to watch the game. We had to take grounders and pop flies. Which we were doing really good. As I waswarming up our number one pitcher I was watching the other team and wow did they look good. After, my team ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Should Student Athletes Be Paid? It is mid–February and for college athletes and fans everywhere that means that the College Football "Bowl" season is over and "March Madness" is around the corner. The "Bowl" Season is a series of college football games from the elite teams, sponsored by various corporations and "March Madness" is a 68 team single elimination tournament to decide who the best team in college basketball is. For the students involved they get a chance to have their legacy live on forever and for some it is a chance to show professional teams they have what it takes to compete on the next level, but for the universities it is a chance to bring in millions of dollars in revenue. As a student–athlete, and a volunteer basketball coach, I believe that it is unfair that student athletes across the country have decided to give their lives to these sports in hopes that they get lucky and "win the lottery" by making in into professional sports. I believe that student athletes have earned the right to be compensated for their hard work, dedication and commitment to these universities across the country. On January 12th 2015 Ohio States football team strapped on their helmets and laced up their shoes to play The Oregon Ducks football team in the BCS Championship Game on National television. This year was particularly special because the NCAA changed the format for the Bowl Season for this year but for the foreseeable future. This year was the first year of the playoff system, in years before this the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. College Athletes Should be Paid Essay College sports are big business. For many universities, the athletic program serves as a cash–generating machine. Exploited athletes generate millions of dollars for the NCAA and their schools, and never see a dime. In terms of profit, if all ties with the university were eliminated, an athletic program acting as its own separate entity could compete with some fortune 500 companies. So, why do the vital pieces of the machine, the players, fail to receive any compensation for their performance? The answer lies in the money–hungry NCAA and their practice of hoarding all the revenue. College athletes should receive payment for their play to make their college experience more bearable because they create huge profits and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Opponents against paying student–athletes say that they should not be paid because through scholarships, they're already being paid. Yes, a scholarship is a form of payment. A scholarship is nice, but it is not enough. A scholarship will not pay the bills. Moreover, unlike ordinary students without athletics, student–athletes must also many times care for families and spouses. Actually, approximately 24% of student athletes are married, and of that 24%, about 62% have children. Of the students without their own spouses or children, many must care for parents and siblings. It wouldn't hurt universities to give back a little. The average Division One School profits $6 million per year on basketball and football alone. Consider that, some universities such as the university of Florida or University of Michigan profit more than $10 million per year on their respective athletic programs. At least three–college football teams; Michigan, Florida, and Notre Dame, are each worth more than the NFL's Detroit Lions. Today, networks and cable channels pay hundreds of millions of dollars for the right to televise college football games. NCAA basketball, which has its wildly popular March Madness, is currently in the middle of a contract that pays almost $2 billion. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many of the motivational methods that Coach Meyer's uses can be easily adapted to any small group setting. He wants his players to not only be accountable to the coaches, but to each other, so he created a leadership committee that consists of team players representing each grade level. Coach Meyer says, "We are looking for the Leadership Committee to enhance team chemistry, police the team from within and exemplify what it means to be leaders, both on and off the field."
