Dippin Dots Strategic Objectives
As CEO of Dippin' Dots (DD's), there are two main strategic objectives we want to push toward. First off, we will be reassessing where our
products are presented. Initially, this will mean expanding our leisure market. My vision is for Dippin' Dots carts to be synonymous with outdoor,
family entertainment. Zoos, ballparks, amusement/water parks, and even fairgrounds will get a puzzled look for not having us available. We will
accomplish this by offering our freezers and carts at a reduced price in exchange for contracts with a longer term, ensuring we still receive the same
revenue. They will also love having our DD's in a cup as opposed to kids dropping cones all over. I also will push to create a large scale retail store,
which brings in

What Is The Rhetorical Analysis Of Stanford's Graduation...
RAD Steve Jobs' Stanford's Graduation speech 2005
Since the beginning, speeches have been remembered because of how they connected with their audiences: "Ask not what you can do for your
country, but what your country can do for you." "I have a dream..." The message given to the listeners of these two popular speeches was portrayed in a
rhetorical manner through which it connected with the people forever.
"Stay hungry, stay foolish." In many arguments today, facts are given to help claims; be that as it may, for Jobs' situation, he uses just his feeling and
life experiences as evidence. By telling his stories, he makes a persona for himself. He is a man who has faced many hardships but has still managed
his way through even when things seemed hopeless. When attempting to tell the audience that failure can sometimes be great, these are imperative bits
of his persona. He was known as a prosperous man and someone who everyone looked up to. Building up this persona lets him connect with his
audience significantly better.
Jobs opens with a compliment for the gathering of people: "I am honored to be with you today for your commencement from one of the finest colleges
on the planet." After that in a humble matter he tells the audience that he never graduated from school. He made the audience feel great about
themselves, and they had better responsiveness towards the message.Jobsuses numerous techniques to connect better with his audience, few of which
are – He uses a conversational style when telling the audience there by saying when "Woz and I started Apple."In contrast to "Steven Wozniak and I
started Apple".This is a wise decision as most of the audience are going to be people who are graduating from college and are going to different
paths from their friends. Jobs also uses a simple and traditional structure. Starts with three stories and then the conclusion. Making a structure that joins
his three stories with different ideas. The first is connecting the dots. His second was about "love and loss." When he lost Apple and everything he
spent building his life, but got to know what he really loves to do. The last story is about "death". Jobs tells us what he learns from his near death
experience.Individually,

Ceramic Fragments Found At The Tepco Beach
In this project, we are asked to analyze ceramic fragments found at the TEPCO beach, which, in the mid–20th century, used to be a dump site of the
Technical Porcelain and China Ware Company (TEPCO). Though ceramics seem rather mundane, as Deetz's study on the ceramics used in the colonial
American show, they reveal quite a bit to the careful eyes: he found out that people used plates symbolically as displays of status rather than utensils,
and the ceramic sets after the 18th century reflected the Georgian mindset of individuality and discipline (Deetz 1996). I am also interested in studying
ceramics in a way that relates to and reveal their meanings – a post–processual, emic orientation more directly seen in the Gage house study in which...

Upon initial observation, I noticed that the special pieces seem to have less visual contrast in general – a good, testable hypothesis that I will try to
verify. Methodology I wanted to figure out specifically what data are the most useful in answering my research question: just like Wilkie did in her
Mardis Gras research in which she determined a distinct set of data for each of her research question (Wilkie 2014). With that in mind, I decided to
simply focus on the data needed to verify my rather straightforward hypothesis, that the special pieces have less visual contrast than the standard ones
in general. There are two attributes, as evident from the hypothesis, that I would need to know for each artifact: its "specialty" – whether the piece has
special or standard decoration – and its visual contrast. Given the visual nature of both attributes, I decided that the only data I would need to collect
are pictures of my artifacts. Next, I needed to decide how I would analyze the photos in order to extract the two attributes, specialty and contrast, so
that I can test my hypothesis. A way of classifying specialty was determined by me as such: while the standard pieces have decorations

Scanner Advantages And Disadvantages
Scanner
Scanner is a device that captures images from photographic prints, posters, magazine pages, and similar sources for computer editing and display.
Scanners come in many types for scanning black–and–white or color. Some of the main types of scanners are described below; (Hewawithana, 2012)
Flatbed scanners: Flatbed scanners are some of the most commonly used scanners as it has both home and office functions. The way they scan
documents is that a mechanism rolls under the document to obtain the image. For a businesses that have a need for high processing abilities, the
flatbed scanner can scan any number of documents with a click of a button. (Hewawithana, 2012)

following characteristics can be noticed in LCD's o Less space, o Very low power consumption, o Lack of flicker, o Comparatively expensive, o
Limited viewing angle, (Computer Hope's, 2016)
An LED monitor (Short for Light Emitting Diode) or LED display is a flat screen, flat panel computer monitor or television, it has a very depth
and is light in terms of weight. The actual difference between this and a typical LCD monitor is the backlighting. The first LCD monitors used
CCFL instead of LED's to illuminate the screen, LED monitors offer many benefits when compared to those that are CCFL lit including, o Typically
are less expensive, o Broader diming range, o Overall more reliable, o They run at a lower temperature, and consume much less power as few as 20
watts, o Higher dynamic contrast ratio, o Longer lifespan and less environmental impact. (Computer Hope's, 2016)

Self-Reflection: Connecting The Dots
Perhaps this deep awareness and self–reflection is both a blessing and a curse! Hmm, connecting the dots in a way no one else can. Mustn't
innovative thinkers build off of some fundamental idea that is necessarily framed and shaped by previous thinkers? I find it hard to believe that any
epiphany I might have is truly unique in that it was not inspired by something or someone else before. Yes, it is necessary toconnect the dots
differently, uniquely. My life, the oddities, the synchronicities, the hardship, and the way that the universe conspires around and about me, is no
doubt different from the experience of previous thinkers. Yet, as I connect these dots to fit my life, I still feel that it is wise to continue to be
guided by past brilliance. If you have any further suggestions of readings or theories or great thinkers that you would like to recommend, please do
not hesitate to do so. I would like to flip through my History of Psychology textbook, but I lent it to a friend and I am unsure when I will get it back.
"If you're looking for self–help, why would you read a book written by somebody else? That's not self–help, that's help. There's no such thing as
self–help... if you did it yourself, you didn't need help." Well, I'm lost when I try to do this myself. So I suppose I am looking for help. But, I'm
looking for something beyond any help that can be offered to me through medication or therapy or anything like that. I want to find the answer myself,

A New School
"Brand new school, brand new records, brand new everything." Said Jeremy the security guard. He 's been a guard for high schools for about
twelve years now, and he 's seen a lot over the years, and he was positive he could handle anything after spring break of 2012. He still had claw
marks on his hands from the cats. His guard mate, Nathaniel, grunted in response. "Yeah, new kids, new technology, new pranks." He was
apparently not as excited for the school as Jeremy was. It was upsetting to Jeremy; he had been looking forward to the job for a while. He hated his
last job, for the kids there were not raised the same as the kids here. Its only been a day and he already made friends with a couple of the Drama
students. This was a Fine Arts school, after all. "I'm going to go walk around a bit," Nathaniel concluded. He must have known he struck a nerve.
I nodded in mutual agreement before taking a sip of coffee. Behind me, I heard Jeremy open the office door and close it behind him. Alone in the
dark now, I observed Nathaniel's progress with the screen in front of me. As he strolled down the hall, a white dot popped up around him– the security
system's motion detector. At the end of the corridor he disappeared into the stairwell, and I could barely hear the echoes of his footsteps as he
descended. A second later he reappeared on the computer to the left of the first, the beam of his flashlight blown out on thecamera monitor above it in
its own white rectangle. I picked up my

Past Memories Frosts Of Cole Matthews ' Mind
Past memories hinder in the hollows of Cole Matthews' mind. And yet, an inspiriting element echoes in the shadows of his beliefs. Can "change"
bestow an ingredient of happiness or derive a recipe for disaster? Ben Mikaelsen's, Touching Spirit Bear pertains the prospects of Cole Matthews– a
minor whose emotions are misinterpreted. Cole's mind is challenged with a dilemma of thoughts, that obscure his path to prosperity. Nevertheless,
several individuals enlivened Cole in acquiring a sense of positivity amongst himself. This has paved the path for a pivotal element to arise in the

Quantum Dots Lab Report
Pre–Lab for the Quantum Dots Lab

Goal: Synthesize Cadmium Selenide (CdSe) Quantum Dot Crystals using Cadmium Oxide (CdO) and Selenium (Se) dissolved in
Triphenylphosphine solution. The product created will be a colloidal solution, bound to the exterior of the crystal lattice and it remains soluble in the
octadecene (Boatman & Nordell). Along with this the product will most likely vary in color as well due to the changes in wavelength, energy and
transitions, that all correspond to a smaller crystal. The variations in particle size will prove to be an important feature in the experiment, so the goal
is to use diverse size particles. The crystals are created in a solution in which they cannot be filtered out since they do not settle.
Background of the Chemistry: Cadmium Selenide is an inorganic compound that is widely used for research on nanoparticles. Cadmium Oxide is an
inorganic compound that is mostly used for creating other cadmium compounds because it crystallizes in a lattice like that of NaCl. Selenium is an
element that has nonmetal properties, but it is rarely ever found in its pure state, it is often found as a compound. Both, selenium and cadmium are used
to synthesize the CdSe used in this experiment. Although these materials can be very hazardous, it has been proven that using these items are the best
option for this synthesis. The reasoning for this includes the temperature needed to grow them and they have higher

The Rise Of Silicon Valley
Silicon Valley has always been a place of constant economic change. Huge booms and then sudden busts are not only common, but they're almost
predictable. It's becoming easier to observe and evaluate past crashes and use this knowledge to predict future busts in the valley. The huge jump in the
number of tech startups recently has been attracting an increasing amount of attention from investors who are looking for make it big. Due to this as
well as other factors, these companies are becoming overvalued, causing a tech bubble that will soon burst.
The economic history of Silicon Valley is far from smooth. The Valley has survived the outrageous fortunes of the military industrial complex in the
70s, the silicon wafer business in the 80s, and the personal computer in the 90s, which are all either dead, gone overseas, or now established and
boring. One of the more famous events, the dot–com boom in the late 1990s to 2000s, left many with a feeling of helplessness for the future of the
valley. The sudden growth of the internet resulted in venture capitalists seeing record–setting growth as dot–com companies experienced abnormal
rises in their stock prices and therefore moved faster and with less caution than usual, thus resulting in a tech bubble that burst, leaving investors
floundered.
One thing is for certain, if there is one thing that Silicon Valley is good at, it's recovering from hard times like these. It seems that no matter how hard
of a fall it might take, it's able

Technology Industry Is Heading Toward A Bubble?
So, what are some of the signs of tech bubbles? Why are certain experts convinced the current technology industry is heading towards a bubble? There
are certain situations that could signal the industry is inside a bubble.
IPO market saturation
First, IPO market saturation tends to be higher during a tech bubble. As mentioned above, during the dot–com bubble, companies flogged to the stock
market at alarming rates. Worryingly perhaps, the level of IPOs is currently getting closer to the levels of the 2000.
The high IPOs don't benefit the owners or the employees of the company, but play in the hands of the initial investors. Employees and owners typically
have lock–in periods for reselling the stock. But in a bubble situation, the stock ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marketing firm CB Insights has studies a number of technology companies and noticed the overvaluation issue. For example, the ride hailing app
Uber received a valuation of 100 times its sales from investors. AirBnB's $25 million valuation is over 90 times its sales.
Private companies aggressively searching for fresh capital
But IPOs aren't always the only sign of a tech bubble. In fact, the argument now is there are too many private companies being backed by private
money. For example, in 2015, the number of tech company IPOs remained low, while the number of private companies receiving over $1 billion
valuations doubled in the past 18 months.
The problem of increasing VC interest is that companies tend to take as much as they can. Since equity is easy to obtain in the current climate,
companies might end up aggressively pursuing it even when it isn't necessary.
Funds and investors moving out of the industry
There's also the element of investors and funds beginning to move out from the tech industry. In a way, this condition is the final sign of a tech bubble,
as it often highlights the end of the bubble.
Since the bubble cycle is run by speculation and hope of future fortunes, if companies don't start providing returns at some point, investors may
disappear. Certain investment firms are openly starting to warn about the bubble and even funds find it harder to simply throw money at technology
firms.
Inefficient business models

Application Of The Gauss Newton Method
As a final example of the application of the Gauss–Newton method, we attempted to find the best fit for a set of data with a sinusoidal function. This
example illustrates how the Gauss–Newton method can applied to functions with more that just two variables, and that it can be applied to an
equation of any form. In it, will attempt to model temperature data with a sinusoidal function. Below is a chart of the average high temperatures per
month of the city of Monroe Louisiana (courtesy of weather.com). Month Temperature (Fahrenheit) January 56 February 60 March 69 April 77 May
84 June 90 July 94 August 94 September 88 October 79 November 68 December 58 As can be seen by the chart, this data appears to take the form of
a sinusoidal function. Therefore, we will try to fit it with the general form of this function, shown below: y(t)=Aв€
—sin(wв€
—t+phi )+C A is the
amplitude, w is the frequency, t is time, phi is the phase and C is a constant. Given this equation there are four unknowns that must be found. In the
code, these four variables are represented by the column vector a and are returned in the column vector w. As always, the code requires that we first
solve, analytically, for the partial derivatives required for the Jacobian. In this example, the function to be minimized, r, is given by:
rk=qkв€’(a1в€
—sin(a2в€
—pk+a3)+a4) where rk is the residual at the particular temperature value, qk is the measured temperature and pk is the
month, represented in the code as January = 1, February

How Technology Has Changed Real Time Digital Operations
пЂ
Abstract– VLSI technology has been the cornerstone of every technological achievement in the past century, but as Gordon
Moore predicted it is nearing its saturation. A lot of other technologies have been researched upon to fulfill the needs of the fast paced world; one of the
potential replacements is Quantum
Dots Cellular Automata technology which uses Nano–sized particles to realize real time digital operations. The advantage of
QCA technology over its VLSI counterpart is a set of characteristics like drastic decrease in area consumed, less power consumption, reduced time
taken for execution and higher overall efficiency. In this paper we discuss one of the many fundamental blocks of the digital technology that is a simple
Serial register (SISO, SIPO). It finds its applications in every field be it medical where timer based equipment's are used to monitor health or any day
to day activity in which a memory unit is used.

I. INTRODUCTION
NE of the most promising nanotechnologies in the present day scenario in a pool of various technologies in the research phase is Quantum–Dot
Cellular Automata (QCA) which is able to replace the CMOS technology. As we see in the current scenario there is rapid scaling of CMOS technology
to accommodate millions, now probably billions of transistors in a specified area as efficiently as possible. As predicted by Gordon Moore, in the next

The Lottery Analysis
"The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson is the story of a town that is caught up in its old ways and traditions. The story is set in a small town on a beautiful,
mid–summers day. People of the town gather as if it is just another summer day, "The lottery was conducted–as were the square dances, the teenage
club, the Halloween program..." As the people gather, they see friends and family and talk about random, everyday things. The children play, the
parents start conversations. All of the noise stops when suddenly Mr. Summers, the man who conducts the lottery, comes in with a worn and chipped
black box. Each head of the family is called up to the black box, and they proceed by each pulling a piece of folded paper out of the box. Mr.
Summers calls attention, and each of the men opens their piece of paper. A man named Bill Hutchinson has the piece of paper with a blackdot on it.
Each member of the Hutchinson family is then called up to the black box, and they each pull a piece of paper out. One by one they each open
their piece of paper until somebody gets the black dot. The children, Bill Jr, Nancy, and Dave, all get by with a dotless piece of paper. When it is
down to Bill and his wife Tessie, they both open their paper, and it is revealed that Tessie has the black dot. Tessie tries to argue that the process was
done too fast and it was not fair, but the townspeople disagree. Each person in the town, including the children, pick up a stone and proceed to throw

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Printers
A printer is external hardware output device that takes the electronic data stored on a computer or may be on other device and generates a hard copy
of it and that hardcopy may be used as future references. For example, if you created a report on your computer you could print several copies to hand
out at a staff meeting. Printers are one of the most popular computer peripherals and are commonly used to print text and photos.
A printer is an output device that usually prints characters, symbols, and graphics on paper. The printed output is generally referred to as hardcopy
because it is in the permanent form which we can use for future references. Softcopy refers to temporary images or we can say in temporary form
which may or may not be used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In business where enormous amount of material are printed, the character–at–a–time printers are too slow; therefore, these users need line–at–a–time
printers. Line printers, or line–at–a–time printers, use special mechanism that can print a whole line at once; they can typically print the range of 1,200
to 6,000 lines per minute. Drum, chain, and band printers are line–at–a–time printers.
Drum printer
A drum printer consists of a solid, cylindrical drum that has raised characters in bands on its surface. The number of print positions across the drum
equals the number available on the page. This number typically ranges from 80–132 print positions. The drum rotates at a rapid speed. For each
possible print position there is a print hammer located behind the paper. These hammers strike the paper, along the ink ribbon, against the proper
character on the drum as it passes. One revolution of the drum is required to print each line. This means that all characters on the line are not printed
at exactly the same time, but the time required to print the entire line is fast enough to call them line printers. Typical speeds of drum printers are in
the range of 300 to 2000 lines per

Applying Two Kinds Of A Spherically Symmetric...
In this work, we consider two kinds of a spherically symmetric semiconductor quantum dots: (a) type I single quantum dot (SQD) with radius r_1, in
which electrons and holes are confined in the same region of space, and (b) type II core/shell quantum dot (CCQD) with the same core radius, r_1,
coated with shell thickness t=r_2–r_1, in which the spatial confinement of electrons and holes depends strongly on the geometrical parameters (core
radius and shell thickness) and strain effects. Due to the potential structure of CdSe/CdTe CCQD, electrons mainly reside in the CdSe core region,
while the holes dwell mainly in the CdTe shell region. This separation is shown in Fig. 1. For clarity, we designate the band–gap energy, the
conduction band minimum (CBM) and the valence band maximum (VBM) of bulk semiconductor materials in the unstrained case by E_g0^i, E_c0^i
and E_v0^i, respectively. E_c^i and E_v^i denote the bulk band edges of each nanoheterostructure compound including strain effect. In this paper, the
index i=1,2,3 refers to the CdSe region (1), CdTe region (2) and the external medium (3), c(v) holds for conduction (valence) band and e(h) holds for
electron (hole). E_g and V_(e(h)) are the bulk gap energy and the electron (hole) confining potential of strained hetero–nanocrystal, respectively. In Fig

A Presentation Of The National Nanotechnology Initiative (...
1. Introduction.
"There's plenty of room at the bottom"; this statement by Richard Feynman in 1959 during a presentation to a meeting of the American Physical
Society, is widely accepted as the spark that initiated the present 'nano' age1. Nano, "dwarf" in Greek, is defined as one billionth, it follows that the
nanoscale is measured in nanometres, or 10–9 m. To put this in perspective; the average strand of a human hair is roughly 75,000 nm in diameter, or
from the other extreme 1 nm is the length of 10 hydrogen atoms lined up end to end.
Nanotechnology can be difficult to define, as its definition is often engineered to suit the researcher and their field; this resulted in a need of a general
working definition, which the national nanotechnology initiative (NNI) established []. Nanotechnology is thus defined as possessing the following
features;
Nanotechnology involves research and technology development at the 1 nm to 100 nm range.
Nanotechnology builds on the capability to organize or manipulate at the atomic scale.
Nanotechnology creates and uses structures that have novel properties because of their small size.

Speech Steve Jobs Speech
At Stanford's 2005 graduation Steve Jobs spoke to some of the brightest young men and women in the country. Stanford's graduating class of 2005
heard an inspiring and compelling speech split into three stories from Steve Jobs life. Steve Jobs used metaphors, repetition, and antithesis creating an
inspiring and compelling argument to never give up on finding and doing what you love.
Steve Jobs split his speech into three stories. The first one was about "connecting the dots."The whole story is a metaphor having dots stand in as
actions that you have done and will do. He also points to how it is "impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it
was very, very clear looking backward 10 years later."This is elaborating on the previous metaphor. This states that the actions, dots or in Steve Jobs's
case the typography class, at the time seemed to have no clear purpose. However, later on, you can see how it connects to something else that you
have or will do.In Steve Jobs' case, the typography class lead to the Macintosh having different fonts. In his second story he, talked about love and loss,
explaining what happened when his own company, Apple, fired him, only to have it help in. "It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient
needed it."In this metaphor, he has medicine standing in as being fired from Apple, the awful tasting being how it felt, and him needing it because it
helped him. He followed up that metaphor with another one,

Introduction : What Makes A Startup?
Introduction: What makes a startup?
Startup companies have gained enormous attention in recent years. The term startup became more commonplace during the dot–com boom where
technology businesses were founded at an unprecedented rate. It took one of the most recognizable companies in the world, Facebook, only eight years
to go from one million to one billion users. That virtually exponential growth allowed Facebook to truly transition from a startup to an established
company.
With billion dollar companies like Apple, Walmart, AT&T and many more, why worry about volatile startup companies? Well, virtually every company
begins as a startup (exception for de–mergers). Ergo, it is imperative that startup companies are studied and analyzed to ... Show more content on

To systematically develop successful startup companies, the method of accelerator programs has gained substantial attention. Accelerators focus on
very–early–stage companies with the hopes with the right guidance and resources, they will become the next Apple, Microsoft, etc. The first
accelerator program, Y Combinator, launched in 2005 in the sunny state of California. In a report released in 2015, there are now an estimated 3,000+
programs around the world. Accelerator programs typically offer a short–term, systematic process to jumpstart a company. While accelerator programs
may sound comparable to business school, there are key differences. Accelerators typically last between 3–4 months and are much more selective than
any business school. Y Combinator accepted less than 3 percent of applicants in 2014. (Ballew, 2014) While business schools have an end goal of
education, accelerators have a primary goal of launching a viable business. The cohort–based programs focus heavily on mentorship and hands–on
business validation. The culmination of the work performed during the accelerator is pitched at the end of the program with the hopes of gaining
financial backing. The majority of accelerator programs are led by one of the following entities: businesses, educational institutions, and/or the
government. Business incubators generally take equity once the startup makes profit. Considering the recent attention accelerator programs

Short Story
My cousins and I walk towards the man, giving him our baggage; beads of sweat dripping down my forehead, back, and armpits. "Oh no, I hope he
doesn't notice what I'm trying to smuggle in," I thought as I lent him my backpack occupied by tons of vibrant, floral towels. He slowly opened
my backpack, like a snail, zipper after zipper. I felt my skin starting to wrinkle, my back starting ache, and the sudden need to tinkle. Finally, he
handed me my backpack; I rapidly strolled away from the guy as I just committed a felony; I brought in food from the outside. My cousins all
believed that I over exaggerated the situation which enraged me because none of them obliged when I asked if they wanted to "transport the package,"
which was ironic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jonathan and I got into the pods of the Brain Drain and for five grueling seconds, all I can hear was my heart pounding; then the trapdoor opened.
My adrenaline started pumping, I felt the chlorinated water shooting up my nostrils and my back being scratched against tube segments. It ended
quicker than I anticipated. Then it was time to go on the Tornado; the journey to get to the top was not as torturing as the Brain Drain's. My
cousins and I got to the top and they made us step on a scale, I thought to myself, "Do they really think I'm that heavy?" Which made me feel self
conscious for the next hour. Furthermore, we got onto the raft and the lifeguard pushed us down the slide, as we slid down the tube, it was
complete darkness, I was not aware of our current situation and all I could hear were my cousins screaming their lungs out; I felt butterflies flying
around my stomach, water slapping against my face, and my cousin's, Teresa, nails clawing into my skin as we dropped. Finally, we got back to our
wooden table that were broken on one end and covered in moss on another. The table was sitting on a bed of small, little pebbles that not only made
good ammunition to throw at squirrels, but a harsh foot massage. I opened a bag chips and later on started to hear a baby cry where I then got a nasty
glare from the mother. Afterwards, I shoved a handful of potato chips into my mouth and I instantly tasted the salty, ocean–like chips

Dotcom Research Paper
The Dotcom Bubble During the 1990s, as the Internet became available to the public and usage of it was on the rise, new start–up companies
(start–ups) within the technology industry emerged. The Internet and technological advancements at the time enabled these companies to rapidly
spread the word about their business; people were excited. The revolutionizing start–ups, known as "Dotcom companies," (Dotcoms) embraced the
Internet as key components of their business ("Dotcom") and experienced spectacular initial public offerings (IPOs) and rapid increases in stock
prices. This eventually led to a bubble; a bubble that burst in the early 2000s. Economics scholars Stephen G. Cecchetti and Kermit L. Schoenholtz
explain that the Nasdaq Composite Index (Nasdaq), a stock–market index that is "composed of numerous small start–ups as well as large information
technology (IT) firms, doubled in value from September 1999 to March 2000, then fell by 70 percent over the next year" (209). Along with the
bursting bubble came financial distress that spread across the entire economy. Because Dotcoms were prominent in the bubble, the bubble has later
been called "the Dotcom Bubble." To fully understand the Dotcom Bubble, however, one must understand how bubbles are created,... Show more

The Variance Of The Unexpected Market Returns Essay
Because and are iid, the variance of the unexpected market returns is: and the covariance between the unexpected stock and market returns is:
Therefore, combining (B.1) and (B.2) gives the expression for the noise beta of stock i: The approximation is likely to be good in non–concentrated
markets, like the U.S. stock markets. In the particular case in which all stocks are of equal size (i.e., ), then we are in the presence of the base case
of minimum market concentration ( and ). In this particular situation, (B.3) is reduced to , corresponding to the framework of Ball (1977). In this
case, equation (15) is reduced to , implying that the unconditional beta will be driven towards one as the predictability of the market returns goes to
zero: . What happens to the noise beta when stocks are of various sizes? To answer this question, it is helpful to derive the noise beta of a typical
portfolio. From (B.3), the noise beta of the equally weighted portfolio of stocks is given by: while the noise beta of a value–weight portfolio is: It also
comes from (B.3) to (B.5) that even if the stocks are of various sizes, the noise betas of the stocks and portfolios will also be close to one when the
level of market concentration is low. Indeed, when the degree of market concentration tends to perfect competition, all terms in RHS of equations
(B.3) to (B.5) will be close to one. For instance, as of December 2015, there were about 7,209 U.S. stocks listed in CRSP database, for a total

felt this was a valid measurement of progress in early stage investing since early stage technology companies shared many of the same benchmarks

the sense that there is no specific order in which they need to be "finished" and that the processes are positively correlated, overall increasing the

principal, replaceable. 4. LP's of ACM would probably have a strong positive view on the ACM approach. ACM portrays a specialised expertise in

Descriptive Essay About Animals
People aspire to be like childhood characters because they feel as if they can relate to them and they have been taught so much by them. From the
moment that I saw the Warner Brothers, the green frog, and the fat cat, I knew that I would fall in love with the characters and would be able to relate
to them on a large level. The three animals helped me realize that even though they aren't real, we can relate with each other and I can also learn
valuable lessons from them that would help me in life. The three fictional characters that most represent my personality are Yakkofrom Animaniacs for
his annoying yet sympathetic behavior, Kermit the Frog from The Muppets for his insecurities, and Stimpy from The Ren and Stimpy Show for his
child–like personality.
Even though Yakko Warner is an animal that no one– not even creator Steven Spielberg – knows exactly what kind he is, it doesn't mean that we are
completely different because we both have younger siblings that –even though we love teasing– we are there for them when it is time to be serious. In
a Christmas special, "Wakko's Wish," Yakko is telling his sister Dot a story in bed about their parents and how much they loved her which shows how
much Yakko cares for both his siblings and how he wants the best for them and for them to have only good memories.
The trait of teasing, yet caring helps Yakko develop his personality because it shows that he wants to protect both of his siblings and doesn't want

Creativity can be described as the ability to bring something into existence; into being. Having said that, nobody really knows exactly what it is:
Creative moments can mysteriously show up in certain situations and in context, while it can also fail when really needed.
From studies neurologists say that creativity paints a complex picture. The idea that the right–brain is where creativity happens with emotions while
the left–brain is based on rational, analytical and logical thought is oversimplified. It has not yet been clearly established what happens during the
creative cognitive processes with respect to neural pathways.
However, psychologically speaking, there are certain personality traits or characteristics that define a creative person. Researcher Scott Barry Kaufman
at the Psychology department of New York University says, in so many words, one major feature of the creative person is that they are more complex
individuals than the non–creative... because of this he went on to

done very well since its first introduction into the ice cream industry. In order to expand, they need to be able to have an introduction of a take–home
line of ice cream. Background Facts: Dippin' Dots are known for their "ice cream of the future." Dippin' Dots are BB size pellets of flash frozen ice
cream, frozen with liquid nitrogen, which locks in both flavor and freshness by eliminating the presence of trapped ice and air, giving the ice cream a
fresh flavor and a hard texture. This is their core competency. Issues: Dippin' Dots prospered for many years as a unique segment of the ice... Show

retail locations can only offer the product at 10 to 20В° below zero, special storage and serving freezers are required, as well as specially designed
cryogenic transport containers in order to move the product. This as well as other factors have limited the distribution of Dippin' Dots to only serve
the away from home segment of the ice cream market, which accounts for $13.9 billion. If they can expand where they sell their product, they can
increase sales and gain a large portion of the market. Success Factors– The primary strength of the company lies in the novelty of the product. Dippin '
Dots is a novel way of delivering ice cream that is unlike any other in the market. Additionally, the manufacturing process gives another value

Using A Different Setup Than A Standard Linear Optical System
Using a different setup than a standard linear optical system, [SOURCE]Choi et al. are able to use trapped ions as qubits in an optical quantum
computer. As a direct result, unique possibilities for addressing scalability issues are discovered. Since trapped ions already have fundamentally low
levels of coherent error, suppression of that error in a scaled quantum computer requires significantly less error correction. Also, the group demonstrates
an architecture in which more than two entangled qubits could be addressed simultaneously, further expanding the possibility of scaling. Some research
indicates that linear optical systems could contain unexplored features that would greatly increase the feasibility of scalability for quantum ... Show

Properties like this make working with double donor systems much easier. Still, some of the end results of experiments using single–dot schemes have
advanced quantum computing in general, via a combination of multiple schemes. An article by CalderГіn et al., in tandem with other previous
experiments that allow for coherence times near a second, provide a possible solution to avoiding coherent error. The use of a single electron donor for
isolated qubits has one interesting result: CalderГіn describes the unique state when he says "if they form a triplet, selection rules imply a much longer
lived state." This unique situation does not come as a result of double donors, only single. By using only single–dot triplets, it might be possible to
combine the system with others because of its abnormally long coherence time and high accuracy. As discussed, the use of single–dot architecture
could be combined in unique ways with linear optical schemes. [SOURCE] Economou et al. support this idea, stating "[s]pins...have received a great
deal of attention because they interact strongly with light and provide the opportunity for ultrafast all–optical implementation of logical operations."
While the negative implications of that statement, especially in decoherence caused by environmental interaction, have been discussed, there are many
potential benefits as well. Foremost among these is the

What are Semiconductor nanocrystals?
Quantum dots (QDs) also known as, semiconductor nanocrystals which are bright, photo stable flurophores that have a broad excitation spectrum but a
narrow Gaussian emission at wavelengths controllable by the size of the material. It can be synthesized in many ways like Epitaxial growth modes
such as Vander Merve, Volmer
–Weber, and Stranski–Krastanow are layer by layer methods of synthesizing quantum dots on a crystal substrate. Newer
methods used to produce colloidal quantum dots give better control of the size and shape formed during nucleation [1, 13] .The most basic
characteristic shared by all quantum dots is that they quantumly confine electrons in three dimensions, thus making it behave like an artificial atom
[10,19].
The phenomenon of 3–dimensional quantum confinement leads to heavy dependence of band gap energy on the size of the quantum dot. This allows the
electronic and optical properties of quantum dots to be highly tunable simply by changing the size of the molecule. QD size can be controlled during
synthesis by adjusting the temperature, pH or feed–ratio of reagents [2, 9].Another way to control the band gap energy is to modify the surface ligands
attached to the surface of the quantum dot. Surface ligands are similar to dopants in semiconductors in that they alter the band gap energy by providing
additional electrons or holes to the nanoparticles. Shell of ligands allows the quantum dots to be suspended in a variety of organic solvents and water,

Speech On Steve Jobs Speech
Steve Jobs, one of the cofounders of Apple, delivered a speech to the graduates of Stanford University at their commencement ceremony. Although
Steve Jobs was a college dropout, his speech was more inspirational than anything. Jobs shared three stories with the graduates. His first story was
about connecting the dots, the next one was about finding love, and the last story was about death. The three most influential points that I got out of
Job's speech, was to never lose faith, trust in something, and don't waste your time living someone's else life. Steve Jobs told the graduates of Stanford
to never lose faith. This advice stood out to me the most out of everything else. Sometimes when stumbling blocks come one's way, they tend to give
up and lose hope. I felt like Jobs knew my story because it connected to my life. At the end of my high school career I made my final decision that I
wanted to go to Winthrop. I was already telling everyone that Winthrop would be my new home. I received my student bill and noticed my
scholarships and grants were not enough to pay for it. I was torn, and didn't know what to do. My mother told me I would have to pick another
school, but I did not want to hear that. So, I prayed about it day in and day out and knew a miracle was going to happen. The next week I got a call
from the Vocational Rehabilitation Center, and they told me they would be able to help with my tuition. I knew then and there, it was God. The moral

major problem in the world of Internet marketing is that people are afraid to stand out and go against the grain. The truth is that most online business

Way back during the dot come boom, coming up with the next cutting edge solution was the ultimate goal, and the actual business was secondary. The
person who was most creative was the person who would make the most money. In fact, even an amazingly novel idea was worth millions, or even

Just know that if you have an idea which goes against conventional thinking, expect people to put that idea down. Just think back to the year 1996.

Taking a Look at Quantum Dots
To begin with in layman's language or maybe for a person who has limited or little knowledge about physics, quantum dots are materials that are small
but are sufficient to exhibit quantum mechanical properties. Quantum dots were first discovered in 1980. They exhibit electronic properties which are
between semiconductors and discrete molecules. That is the very reason for the unusually high surface to volume ratio. The most visible use of
quantum dots is in fluorescence where the nanocrystal is capable of producing different distinctive colors determined by their particle size.
For the more experienced and the more technical personals, Quantum dots are semiconductor nanostructures confining the motion of the conduction
band electrons, the valence band holes or the excitons and are in all the three spatial directions. The excitons are confined to the three spatial
directions only. There would be a doubt about what excitons is thus the definition; an exciton is a state or rather a bound state of an electron or a hole
which are attracted to each other by the coulombs force. They are neutral quasiparticles that are generally existent in semiconductors and also in
insulators. They may also be found in some liquids.
The reasons for confinement can be electrostatic potential which can be due to external electrodes, strain, impurities and doping. According to a lot of
research that has been going on in this field, a quantum dot has a discrete quantized energy spectrum.

Dippin Dots Strategic Objectives

  • 1. Dippin Dots Strategic Objectives As CEO of Dippin' Dots (DD's), there are two main strategic objectives we want to push toward. First off, we will be reassessing where our products are presented. Initially, this will mean expanding our leisure market. My vision is for Dippin' Dots carts to be synonymous with outdoor, family entertainment. Zoos, ballparks, amusement/water parks, and even fairgrounds will get a puzzled look for not having us available. We will accomplish this by offering our freezers and carts at a reduced price in exchange for contracts with a longer term, ensuring we still receive the same revenue. They will also love having our DD's in a cup as opposed to kids dropping cones all over. I also will push to create a large scale retail store, which brings in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. What Is The Rhetorical Analysis Of Stanford's Graduation... RAD Steve Jobs' Stanford's Graduation speech 2005 Since the beginning, speeches have been remembered because of how they connected with their audiences: "Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you." "I have a dream..." The message given to the listeners of these two popular speeches was portrayed in a rhetorical manner through which it connected with the people forever. "Stay hungry, stay foolish." In many arguments today, facts are given to help claims; be that as it may, for Jobs' situation, he uses just his feeling and life experiences as evidence. By telling his stories, he makes a persona for himself. He is a man who has faced many hardships but has still managed his way through even when things seemed hopeless. When attempting to tell the audience that failure can sometimes be great, these are imperative bits of his persona. He was known as a prosperous man and someone who everyone looked up to. Building up this persona lets him connect with his audience significantly better. Jobs opens with a compliment for the gathering of people: "I am honored to be with you today for your commencement from one of the finest colleges on the planet." After that in a humble matter he tells the audience that he never graduated from school. He made the audience feel great about themselves, and they had better responsiveness towards the message.Jobsuses numerous techniques to connect better with his audience, few of which are – He uses a conversational style when telling the audience there by saying when "Woz and I started Apple."In contrast to "Steven Wozniak and I started Apple".This is a wise decision as most of the audience are going to be people who are graduating from college and are going to different paths from their friends. Jobs also uses a simple and traditional structure. Starts with three stories and then the conclusion. Making a structure that joins his three stories with different ideas. The first is connecting the dots. His second was about "love and loss." When he lost Apple and everything he spent building his life, but got to know what he really loves to do. The last story is about "death". Jobs tells us what he learns from his near death experience.Individually, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ceramic Fragments Found At The Tepco Beach In this project, we are asked to analyze ceramic fragments found at the TEPCO beach, which, in the mid–20th century, used to be a dump site of the Technical Porcelain and China Ware Company (TEPCO). Though ceramics seem rather mundane, as Deetz's study on the ceramics used in the colonial American show, they reveal quite a bit to the careful eyes: he found out that people used plates symbolically as displays of status rather than utensils, and the ceramic sets after the 18th century reflected the Georgian mindset of individuality and discipline (Deetz 1996). I am also interested in studying ceramics in a way that relates to and reveal their meanings – a post–processual, emic orientation more directly seen in the Gage house study in which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon initial observation, I noticed that the special pieces seem to have less visual contrast in general – a good, testable hypothesis that I will try to verify. Methodology I wanted to figure out specifically what data are the most useful in answering my research question: just like Wilkie did in her Mardis Gras research in which she determined a distinct set of data for each of her research question (Wilkie 2014). With that in mind, I decided to simply focus on the data needed to verify my rather straightforward hypothesis, that the special pieces have less visual contrast than the standard ones in general. There are two attributes, as evident from the hypothesis, that I would need to know for each artifact: its "specialty" – whether the piece has special or standard decoration – and its visual contrast. Given the visual nature of both attributes, I decided that the only data I would need to collect are pictures of my artifacts. Next, I needed to decide how I would analyze the photos in order to extract the two attributes, specialty and contrast, so that I can test my hypothesis. A way of classifying specialty was determined by me as such: while the standard pieces have decorations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Scanner Advantages And Disadvantages Scanner Scanner is a device that captures images from photographic prints, posters, magazine pages, and similar sources for computer editing and display. Scanners come in many types for scanning black–and–white or color. Some of the main types of scanners are described below; (Hewawithana, 2012) Flatbed scanners: Flatbed scanners are some of the most commonly used scanners as it has both home and office functions. The way they scan documents is that a mechanism rolls under the document to obtain the image. For a businesses that have a need for high processing abilities, the flatbed scanner can scan any number of documents with a click of a button. These are called flat panel as well, When comparing monitors designed using liquid crystal display with monitors designed using cathode ray tube the following characteristics can be noticed in LCD's o Less space, o Very low power consumption, o Lack of flicker, o Comparatively expensive, o Limited viewing angle, (Computer Hope's, 2016) An LED monitor (Short for Light Emitting Diode) or LED display is a flat screen, flat panel computer monitor or television, it has a very depth and is light in terms of weight. The actual difference between this and a typical LCD monitor is the backlighting. The first LCD monitors used CCFL instead of LED's to illuminate the screen, LED monitors offer many benefits when compared to those that are CCFL lit including, o Typically are less expensive, o Broader diming range, o Overall more reliable, o They run at a lower temperature, and consume much less power as few as 20 watts, o Higher dynamic contrast ratio, o Longer lifespan and less environmental impact. • 5. Self-Reflection: Connecting The Dots Perhaps this deep awareness and self–reflection is both a blessing and a curse! Hmm, connecting the dots in a way no one else can. Mustn't innovative thinkers build off of some fundamental idea that is necessarily framed and shaped by previous thinkers? I find it hard to believe that any epiphany I might have is truly unique in that it was not inspired by something or someone else before. Yes, it is necessary toconnect the dots differently, uniquely. My life, the oddities, the synchronicities, the hardship, and the way that the universe conspires around and about me, is no doubt different from the experience of previous thinkers. Yet, as I connect these dots to fit my life, I still feel that it is wise to continue to be guided by past brilliance. If you have any further suggestions of readings or theories or great thinkers that you would like to recommend, please do not hesitate to do so. I would like to flip through my History of Psychology textbook, but I lent it to a friend and I am unsure when I will get it back. "If you're looking for self–help, why would you read a book written by somebody else? That's not self–help, that's help. There's no such thing as self–help... if you did it yourself, you didn't need help." Well, I'm lost when I try to do this myself. So I suppose I am looking for help. But, I'm looking for something beyond any help that can be offered to me through medication or therapy or anything like that. I want to find the answer myself, but I shamelessly ... • 6. A New School "Brand new school, brand new records, brand new everything." Said Jeremy the security guard. He 's been a guard for high schools for about twelve years now, and he 's seen a lot over the years, and he was positive he could handle anything after spring break of 2012. He still had claw marks on his hands from the cats. His guard mate, Nathaniel, grunted in response. "Yeah, new kids, new technology, new pranks." He was apparently not as excited for the school as Jeremy was. It was upsetting to Jeremy; he had been looking forward to the job for a while. He hated his last job, for the kids there were not raised the same as the kids here. Its only been a day and he already made friends with a couple of the Drama students. This was a Fine Arts school, after all. "I'm going to go walk around a bit," Nathaniel concluded. He must have known he struck a nerve. I nodded in mutual agreement before taking a sip of coffee. Behind me, I heard Jeremy open the office door and close it behind him. Alone in the dark now, I observed Nathaniel's progress with the screen in front of me. As he strolled down the hall, a white dot popped up around him– the security system's motion detector. At the end of the corridor he disappeared into the stairwell, and I could barely hear the echoes of his footsteps as he descended. A second later he reappeared on the computer to the left of the first, the beam of his flashlight blown out on thecamera monitor above it in its own white rectangle. I picked up my ... • 7. Past Memories Frosts Of Cole Matthews ' Mind Past memories hinder in the hollows of Cole Matthews' mind. And yet, an inspiriting element echoes in the shadows of his beliefs. Can "change" bestow an ingredient of happiness or derive a recipe for disaster? Ben Mikaelsen's, Touching Spirit Bear pertains the prospects of Cole Matthews– a minor whose emotions are misinterpreted. Cole's mind is challenged with a dilemma of thoughts, that obscure his path to prosperity. Nevertheless, several individuals enlivened Cole in acquiring a sense of positivity amongst himself. This has paved the path for a pivotal element to arise in the novel: change. Change, a major theme is displayed in the novel, as Cole's persona has altered due to the attitudes depicted by various identities and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He doesn't want to be mean.." "(168). This displays the transition of Cole's negligent to virtuous nature. Also, this transition connects with Edwin's continuous support for Cole. In accordance with the Teslin Tlingit Council, Edwin establishes a correspondence with the environment. Cole reflects on Edwin's guidance about the Circle of Life, while being attacked by the Spirit Bear. Prior to the incident, Cole mentioned, " "If I saw a Spirit Bear, I'd kill it" " (18). Upon hearing Cole's comment, Edwin responds, " "Whatever you do to the animals, you do to yourself..." "(18). Edwin 's counselling is in relation to the Spirit Bear incident, as Cole is disheartened by the dead baby sparrows. As Cole stared at the tiny bodies, sadness flooded through him. The sparrows were so frail, helpless, and innocent. They hadn't deserved to die. Then again, what right did they have to live? This haunted Cole. Did the birds' insignificant little existences have any meaning at all? Or did his (82)? This portrays that Edwin's guidance impacted Cole's thinking, as Cole gave thought to his life and the baby sparrows' lives. Edwin has affected Cole personal growth, due to his societal influences and suggestions. Garvey bestows a symbol of trust upon Cole, and acts as Cole's guardian, therefore changing Cole's vulgar features. Garvey instills the principle of trust in Cole, as he provides Cole with ... • 8. Quantum Dots Lab Report Pre–Lab for the Quantum Dots Lab Sara Lyons, Aleye Momodu, and Sam Winslow Goal: Synthesize Cadmium Selenide (CdSe) Quantum Dot Crystals using Cadmium Oxide (CdO) and Selenium (Se) dissolved in Triphenylphosphine solution. The product created will be a colloidal solution, bound to the exterior of the crystal lattice and it remains soluble in the octadecene (Boatman & Nordell). Along with this the product will most likely vary in color as well due to the changes in wavelength, energy and transitions, that all correspond to a smaller crystal. The variations in particle size will prove to be an important feature in the experiment, so the goal is to use diverse size particles. The crystals are created in a solution in which they cannot be filtered out since they do not settle. Background of the Chemistry: Cadmium Selenide is an inorganic compound that is widely used for research on nanoparticles. Cadmium Oxide is an inorganic compound that is mostly used for creating other cadmium compounds because it crystallizes in a lattice like that of NaCl. Selenium is an element that has nonmetal properties, but it is rarely ever found in its pure state, it is often found as a compound. Both, selenium and cadmium are used to synthesize the CdSe used in this experiment. Although these materials can be very hazardous, it has been proven that using these items are the best option for this synthesis. The reasoning for this includes the temperature needed to grow them and they have higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Rise Of Silicon Valley Silicon Valley has always been a place of constant economic change. Huge booms and then sudden busts are not only common, but they're almost predictable. It's becoming easier to observe and evaluate past crashes and use this knowledge to predict future busts in the valley. The huge jump in the number of tech startups recently has been attracting an increasing amount of attention from investors who are looking for make it big. Due to this as well as other factors, these companies are becoming overvalued, causing a tech bubble that will soon burst. The economic history of Silicon Valley is far from smooth. The Valley has survived the outrageous fortunes of the military industrial complex in the 70s, the silicon wafer business in the 80s, and the personal computer in the 90s, which are all either dead, gone overseas, or now established and boring. One of the more famous events, the dot–com boom in the late 1990s to 2000s, left many with a feeling of helplessness for the future of the valley. The sudden growth of the internet resulted in venture capitalists seeing record–setting growth as dot–com companies experienced abnormal rises in their stock prices and therefore moved faster and with less caution than usual, thus resulting in a tech bubble that burst, leaving investors floundered. One thing is for certain, if there is one thing that Silicon Valley is good at, it's recovering from hard times like these. It seems that no matter how hard of a fall it might take, it's able ... • 12. Technology Industry Is Heading Toward A Bubble? So, what are some of the signs of tech bubbles? Why are certain experts convinced the current technology industry is heading towards a bubble? There are certain situations that could signal the industry is inside a bubble. IPO market saturation First, IPO market saturation tends to be higher during a tech bubble. As mentioned above, during the dot–com bubble, companies flogged to the stock market at alarming rates. Worryingly perhaps, the level of IPOs is currently getting closer to the levels of the 2000. The high IPOs don't benefit the owners or the employees of the company, but play in the hands of the initial investors. Employees and owners typically have lock–in periods for reselling the stock. But in a bubble situation, the stock ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marketing firm CB Insights has studies a number of technology companies and noticed the overvaluation issue. For example, the ride hailing app Uber received a valuation of 100 times its sales from investors. AirBnB's $25 million valuation is over 90 times its sales. Private companies aggressively searching for fresh capital But IPOs aren't always the only sign of a tech bubble. In fact, the argument now is there are too many private companies being backed by private money. For example, in 2015, the number of tech company IPOs remained low, while the number of private companies receiving over $1 billion valuations doubled in the past 18 months. The problem of increasing VC interest is that companies tend to take as much as they can. Since equity is easy to obtain in the current climate, companies might end up aggressively pursuing it even when it isn't necessary. Funds and investors moving out of the industry There's also the element of investors and funds beginning to move out from the tech industry. In a way, this condition is the final sign of a tech bubble, as it often highlights the end of the bubble.

  • 14. Application Of The Gauss Newton Method As a final example of the application of the Gauss–Newton method, we attempted to find the best fit for a set of data with a sinusoidal function. This example illustrates how the Gauss–Newton method can applied to functions with more that just two variables, and that it can be applied to an equation of any form. In it, will attempt to model temperature data with a sinusoidal function. Below is a chart of the average high temperatures per month of the city of Monroe Louisiana (courtesy of weather.com). Month Temperature (Fahrenheit) January 56 February 60 March 69 April 77 May 84 June 90 July 94 August 94 September 88 October 79 November 68 December 58 As can be seen by the chart, this data appears to take the form of a sinusoidal function. Therefore, we will try to fit it with the general form of this function, shown below: y(t)=Aв€ —sin(wв€ —t+phi )+C A is the amplitude, w is the frequency, t is time, phi is the phase and C is a constant. Given this equation there are four unknowns that must be found. In the code, these four variables are represented by the column vector a and are returned in the column vector w. As always, the code requires that we first solve, analytically, for the partial derivatives required for the Jacobian. In this example, the function to be minimized, r, is given by: rk=qkв€’(a1в€ —sin(a2в€ —pk+a3)+a4) where rk is the residual at the particular temperature value, qk is the measured temperature and pk is the month, represented in the code as January = 1, February ... How Technology Has Changed Real Time Digital Operations пЂ Abstract– VLSI technology has been the cornerstone of every technological achievement in the past century, but as Gordon Moore predicted it is nearing its saturation. A lot of other technologies have been researched upon to fulfill the needs of the fast paced world; one of the potential replacements is Quantum Dots Cellular Automata technology which uses Nano–sized particles to realize real time digital operations. The advantage of QCA technology over its VLSI counterpart is a set of characteristics like drastic decrease in area consumed, less power consumption, reduced time taken for execution and higher overall efficiency. In this paper we discuss one of the many fundamental blocks of the digital technology that is a simple Serial register (SISO, SIPO). It finds its applications in every field be it medical where timer based equipment's are used to monitor health or any day to day activity in which a memory unit is used. Index Terms–Serial register, QCA technology,Quantum dot, VLSI Technology. I. INTRODUCTION NE of the most promising nanotechnologies in the present day scenario in a pool of various technologies in the research phase is Quantum–Dot Cellular Automata (QCA) which is able to replace the CMOS technology. The story is set in a small town on a beautiful, mid–summers day. People of the town gather as if it is just another summer day, "The lottery was conducted–as were the square dances, the teenage club, the Halloween program..." As the people gather, they see friends and family and talk about random, everyday things. The children play, the parents start conversations. All of the noise stops when suddenly Mr. Summers, the man who conducts the lottery, comes in with a worn and chipped black box. One by one they each open their piece of paper until somebody gets the black dot. The children, Bill Jr, Nancy, and Dave, all get by with a dotless piece of paper. When it is down to Bill and his wife Tessie, they both open their paper, and it is revealed that Tessie has the black dot. Tessie tries to argue that the process was done too fast and it was not fair, but the townspeople disagree. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Printers A printer is external hardware output device that takes the electronic data stored on a computer or may be on other device and generates a hard copy of it and that hardcopy may be used as future references. For example, if you created a report on your computer you could print several copies to hand out at a staff meeting. Printers are one of the most popular computer peripherals and are commonly used to print text and photos. A printer is an output device that usually prints characters, symbols, and graphics on paper. In business where enormous amount of material are printed, the character–at–a–time printers are too slow; therefore, these users need line–at–a–time printers. Line printers, or line–at–a–time printers, use special mechanism that can print a whole line at once; they can typically print the range of 1,200 to 6,000 lines per minute. Drum, chain, and band printers are line–at–a–time printers. Drum printer A drum printer consists of a solid, cylindrical drum that has raised characters in bands on its surface. The number of print positions across the drum equals the number available on the page. This number typically ranges from 80–132 print positions. The drum rotates at a rapid speed. For each possible print position there is a print hammer located behind the paper. These hammers strike the paper, along the ink ribbon, against the proper character on the drum as it passes. One revolution of the drum is required to print each line. This means that all characters on the line are not printed at exactly the same time, but the time required to print the entire line is fast enough to call them line printers. Typical speeds of drum printers are in the range of 300 to 2000 lines per ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this work, we consider two kinds of a spherically symmetric semiconductor quantum dots: (a) type I single quantum dot (SQD) with radius r_1, in which electrons and holes are confined in the same region of space, and (b) type II core/shell quantum dot (CCQD) with the same core radius, r_1, coated with shell thickness t=r_2–r_1, in which the spatial confinement of electrons and holes depends strongly on the geometrical parameters (core radius and shell thickness) and strain effects. Due to the potential structure of CdSe/CdTe CCQD, electrons mainly reside in the CdSe core region, while the holes dwell mainly in the CdTe shell region. This separation is shown in Fig. 1. For clarity, we designate the band–gap energy, the conduction band minimum (CBM) and the valence band maximum (VBM) of bulk semiconductor materials in the unstrained case by E_g0^i, E_c0^i and E_v0^i, respectively. E_c^i and E_v^i denote the bulk band edges of each nanoheterostructure compound including strain effect. In this paper, the index i=1,2,3 refers to the CdSe region (1), CdTe region (2) and the external medium (3), c(v) holds for conduction (valence) band and e(h) holds for electron (hole). E_g and V_(e(h)) are the bulk gap energy and the electron (hole) confining potential of strained hetero–nanocrystal, respectively. • 22. A Presentation Of The National Nanotechnology Initiative (... 1. Introduction. "There's plenty of room at the bottom"; this statement by Richard Feynman in 1959 during a presentation to a meeting of the American Physical Society, is widely accepted as the spark that initiated the present 'nano' age1. Nano, "dwarf" in Greek, is defined as one billionth, it follows that the nanoscale is measured in nanometres, or 10–9 m. To put this in perspective; the average strand of a human hair is roughly 75,000 nm in diameter, or from the other extreme 1 nm is the length of 10 hydrogen atoms lined up end to end. Nanotechnology can be difficult to define, as its definition is often engineered to suit the researcher and their field; this resulted in a need of a general working definition, which the national nanotechnology initiative (NNI) established []. Nanotechnology is thus defined as possessing the following features; Nanotechnology involves research and technology development at the 1 nm to 100 nm range. Nanotechnology builds on the capability to organize or manipulate at the atomic scale. Nanotechnology creates and uses structures that have novel properties because of their small size. . 2. Nanotechnology Nanoscience involves a study of nanotechnology and nanomaterials, of which at least one of the dimensions is in 1–100 nm range. Over the past two decades, nanomaterials have been a topic of both scientific and technological interest2. Stanford's graduating class of 2005 heard an inspiring and compelling speech split into three stories from Steve Jobs life. Steve Jobs used metaphors, repetition, and antithesis creating an inspiring and compelling argument to never give up on finding and doing what you love. Steve Jobs split his speech into three stories. The first one was about "connecting the dots."The whole story is a metaphor having dots stand in as actions that you have done and will do. He also points to how it is "impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backward 10 years later."This is elaborating on the previous metaphor. This states that the actions, dots or in Steve Jobs's case the typography class, at the time seemed to have no clear purpose. However, later on, you can see how it connects to something else that you have or will do.In Steve Jobs' case, the typography class lead to the Macintosh having different fonts. In his second story he, talked about love and loss, explaining what happened when his own company, Apple, fired him, only to have it help in. "It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it."In this metaphor, he has medicine standing in as being fired from Apple, the awful tasting being how it felt, and him needing it because it helped him. • 26. Dotcom Research Paper The Dotcom Bubble During the 1990s, as the Internet became available to the public and usage of it was on the rise, new start–up companies (start–ups) within the technology industry emerged. The Internet and technological advancements at the time enabled these companies to rapidly spread the word about their business; people were excited. The revolutionizing start–ups, known as "Dotcom companies," (Dotcoms) embraced the Internet as key components of their business ("Dotcom") and experienced spectacular initial public offerings (IPOs) and rapid increases in stock prices. This eventually led to a bubble; a bubble that burst in the early 2000s. Economics scholars Stephen G. Cecchetti and Kermit L. Schoenholtz explain that the Nasdaq Composite Index (Nasdaq), a stock–market index that is "composed of numerous small start–ups as well as large information technology (IT) firms, doubled in value from September 1999 to March 2000, then fell by 70 percent over the next year" (209). What happens to the noise beta when stocks are of various sizes? To answer this question, it is helpful to derive the noise beta of a typical portfolio. From (B.3), the noise beta of the equally weighted portfolio of stocks is given by: while the noise beta of a value–weight portfolio is: It also comes from (B.3) to (B.5) that even if the stocks are of various sizes, the noise betas of the stocks and portfolios will also be close to one when the level of market concentration is low. Indeed, when the degree of market concentration tends to perfect competition, all terms in RHS of equations (B.3) to (B.5) will be close to one. Structured navigation is essentially a five process checklist system for managing investments. ACM does this by deeply involving themselves in their portfolio companies Aspects of the structured navigation include: * Establish a talented management team * Obtain a corporate partner or endorsement * Gain early exposure o industry and investment banking analysts * Expand the product line * Implement best practice The partners felt this was a valid measurement of progress in early stage investing since early stage technology companies shared many of the same benchmarks and needed many of the same elements to succeed. I believe the program wouldn't be a hindrance to company development due to its flexibility in the sense that there is no specific order in which they need to be "finished" and that the processes are positively correlated, overall increasing the probability of success of the company. 3. The ACM approach differs from conventional venture firms in the sense that instead of venture capitalists, partners, being key deal makers , each partner would be recruited, trained and managed the same way most business were; where employees , in principal, replaceable. 4. • 30. Descriptive Essay About Animals People aspire to be like childhood characters because they feel as if they can relate to them and they have been taught so much by them. From the moment that I saw the Warner Brothers, the green frog, and the fat cat, I knew that I would fall in love with the characters and would be able to relate to them on a large level. The three animals helped me realize that even though they aren't real, we can relate with each other and I can also learn valuable lessons from them that would help me in life. The three fictional characters that most represent my personality are Yakkofrom Animaniacs for his annoying yet sympathetic behavior, Kermit the Frog from The Muppets for his insecurities, and Stimpy from The Ren and Stimpy Show for his child–like personality. Even though Yakko Warner is an animal that no one– not even creator Steven Spielberg – knows exactly what kind he is, it doesn't mean that we are completely different because we both have younger siblings that –even though we love teasing– we are there for them when it is time to be serious. In a Christmas special, "Wakko's Wish," Yakko is telling his sister Dot a story in bed about their parents and how much they loved her which shows how much Yakko cares for both his siblings and how he wants the best for them and for them to have only good memories. The trait of teasing, yet caring helps Yakko develop his personality because it shows that he wants to protect both of his siblings and doesn't want anyone besides him to ... Having said that, nobody really knows exactly what it is: Creative moments can mysteriously show up in certain situations and in context, while it can also fail when really needed. From studies neurologists say that creativity paints a complex picture. The idea that the right–brain is where creativity happens with emotions while the left–brain is based on rational, analytical and logical thought is oversimplified. It has not yet been clearly established what happens during the creative cognitive processes with respect to neural pathways. However, psychologically speaking, there are certain personality traits or characteristics that define a creative person. Dippin Dots Case Analysis Kristina Pietrosanti Case Study Analysis– Dippin' Dots Ice Cream Summary and Recommendation: Dippin' Dots is a very well known brand that has done very well since its first introduction into the ice cream industry. In order to expand, they need to be able to have an introduction of a take–home line of ice cream. Background Facts: Dippin' Dots are known for their "ice cream of the future." Dippin' Dots are BB size pellets of flash frozen ice cream, frozen with liquid nitrogen, which locks in both flavor and freshness by eliminating the presence of trapped ice and air, giving the ice cream a fresh flavor and a hard texture. This is their core competency. Issues: Dippin' Dots prospered for many years as a unique segment of the ice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using A Different Setup Than A Standard Linear Optical System Using a different setup than a standard linear optical system, [SOURCE]Choi et al. are able to use trapped ions as qubits in an optical quantum computer. As a direct result, unique possibilities for addressing scalability issues are discovered. Since trapped ions already have fundamentally low levels of coherent error, suppression of that error in a scaled quantum computer requires significantly less error correction. Also, the group demonstrates an architecture in which more than two entangled qubits could be addressed simultaneously, further expanding the possibility of scaling. Some research indicates that linear optical systems could contain unexplored features that would greatly increase the feasibility of scalability for quantum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Properties like this make working with double donor systems much easier. Still, some of the end results of experiments using single–dot schemes have advanced quantum computing in general, via a combination of multiple schemes. An article by CalderГіn et al., in tandem with other previous experiments that allow for coherence times near a second, provide a possible solution to avoiding coherent error. The use of a single electron donor for isolated qubits has one interesting result: CalderГіn describes the unique state when he says "if they form a triplet, selection rules imply a much longer lived state." This unique situation does not come as a result of double donors, only single. By using only single–dot triplets, it might be possible to combine the system with others because of its abnormally long coherence time and high accuracy. As discussed, the use of single–dot architecture could be combined in unique ways with linear optical schemes. [SOURCE] Economou et al. support this idea, stating "[s]pins...have received a great deal of attention because they interact strongly with light and provide the opportunity for ultrafast all–optical implementation of logical operations." While the negative implications of that statement, especially in decoherence caused by environmental interaction, have been discussed, there are many potential benefits as well. Quantum dots (QDs) also known as, semiconductor nanocrystals which are bright, photo stable flurophores that have a broad excitation spectrum but a narrow Gaussian emission at wavelengths controllable by the size of the material. It can be synthesized in many ways like Epitaxial growth modes such as Vander Merve, Volmer –Weber, and Stranski–Krastanow are layer by layer methods of synthesizing quantum dots on a crystal substrate. Newer methods used to produce colloidal quantum dots give better control of the size and shape formed during nucleation [1, 13] .The most basic characteristic shared by all quantum dots is that they quantumly confine electrons in three dimensions, thus making it behave like an artificial atom [10,19]. The phenomenon of 3–dimensional quantum confinement leads to heavy dependence of band gap energy on the size of the quantum dot. This allows the electronic and optical properties of quantum dots to be highly tunable simply by changing the size of the molecule. QD size can be controlled during synthesis by adjusting the temperature, pH or feed–ratio of reagents [2, 9].Another way to control the band gap energy is to modify the surface ligands attached to the surface of the quantum dot. Surface ligands are similar to dopants in semiconductors in that they alter the band gap energy by providing additional electrons or holes to the nanoparticles. Shell of ligands allows the quantum dots to be suspended in a variety of organic solvents and water, permitting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although Steve Jobs was a college dropout, his speech was more inspirational than anything. Jobs shared three stories with the graduates. His first story was about connecting the dots, the next one was about finding love, and the last story was about death. The three most influential points that I got out of Job's speech, was to never lose faith, trust in something, and don't waste your time living someone's else life. Steve Jobs told the graduates of Stanford to never lose faith. This advice stood out to me the most out of everything else. Sometimes when stumbling blocks come one's way, they tend to give up and lose hope. I felt like Jobs knew my story because it connected to my life. At the end of my high school career I made my final decision that I wanted to go to Winthrop. I was already telling everyone that Winthrop would be my new home. I received my student bill and noticed my scholarships and grants were not enough to pay for it. I was torn, and didn't know what to do. My mother told me I would have to pick another school, but I did not want to hear that. So, I prayed about it day in and day out and knew a miracle was going to happen. • 41. Taking a Look at Quantum Dots To begin with in layman's language or maybe for a person who has limited or little knowledge about physics, quantum dots are materials that are small but are sufficient to exhibit quantum mechanical properties. Quantum dots were first discovered in 1980. They exhibit electronic properties which are between semiconductors and discrete molecules. That is the very reason for the unusually high surface to volume ratio. The most visible use of quantum dots is in fluorescence where the nanocrystal is capable of producing different distinctive colors determined by their particle size. For the more experienced and the more technical personals, Quantum dots are semiconductor nanostructures confining the motion of the conduction band electrons, the valence band holes or the excitons and are in all the three spatial directions. The excitons are confined to the three spatial directions only. There would be a doubt about what excitons is thus the definition; an exciton is a state or rather a bound state of an electron or a hole which are attracted to each other by the coulombs force. They are neutral quasiparticles that are generally existent in semiconductors and also in insulators. They may also be found in some liquids. The reasons for confinement can be electrostatic potential which can be due to external electrodes, strain, impurities and doping. According to a lot of research that has been going on in this field, a quantum dot has a discrete quantized energy spectrum. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
