2. In the next slide is a chart of four plots of water
quality parameters taken during a study of Lake
Morey in Vermont between 1975 and 2000. These
measurements are from before and after aluminum
sulfate (alum) treatment, which was designed to
sink phosphorus from the water into the
sediment, thereby reducing algal blooms. Based on
these figures, the overall goal of reducing
phosphorus and consequently reducing algae was
reached after alum treatment.
