Editor's Notes
Hi, my name is David Phillips and I will be talking about how social media is taking over all other media. I also want to go over how consumers benefit and connect with your brand using social media.
Consider this,4 years ago in 2009 large companies with over 1000 employees or more already had over 200 terabytes of data stored about consumers’ lives that has been received from social media. The Library of Congress entire printed collection fits on just 10 terabytes. And that was in 2009! Can you image what it is now?
While Social Media looks like it will rise to unprecedented heights, we do still watch TV but it is on the decline, as is radio and newspaper. Even trends like online gaming, reading blogs, podcasts, digital news, and magazines are flat at best; in some cases going down. If the corporate world wants to keep up with the real change that is here, you must get fully and completely connected with social media.
Having consumers connect with your brand is why corporations need social media. You have to know what the perception of Northwestern Technologies is and be able to change and maintain that. Marketers not only want to drive interest in their products, but also make sure they are offering value to consumers.
Social Media is now essential to CEOs, even ones that were reluctant now have to face the facts. When surveying 600 senior executives from 10 markets across the world, it came up with 76% of executives say they want their CEO to engage in social media. The benefits are the ease at which they can share company news, information, and the ability to communicate directly with employees and consumers.
