ED TECH IN A NUTSHELL
Educational Technology as a
subject helped us teachers gain ideas,
think of possible strategies and utilize
better instructional materials in relation to
technology.
This is one of the lessons I learned
during Ed Tech 1 that we should know
the proper way of making a better
PowerPoint presentation.
MAKING A BETTER POWERPOINT
PRESENTATION
IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION…
…do not use light font
color in a light
background color.
IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION…
…do not use dark font
color in a dark
background color.
IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION…
…do not use unreadable texts.
…use 40-44 point for the font
size of the titles
…use 18-32 point for the font size of the
body
IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION…
…use “serif font” (Times New Roman) in a
formal presentation and “san serif font”
(Arial) in an informal presentation.
IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION…
…do not use icons or pictures that are
not related to your topic.

…do not use a photo as a background
for your presentation.
It may good artistically but it
distracts from the point you are making.

…it’s okay to be creative, but it may
distract the audience from the points you
are making.
…two colors for the whole presentation
would do.

…use 2-3 bullets for each slide.
…phrases are better than sentences and
paragraphs.
…simplify the information for each slide
to the point of being skeletal

…use bold and italic labelling for the special
emphasis of your points.
…limit the no. of words in each slide; it
should not be more than 30 words.
HIGHER THINKING SKILLS
THROUGH IT-BASED PROJECT
There are four (4) types of IT-based
project:
a. Resource-based Project
b. Simple Creations
c. Guided Hypermedia Project
d. Web-based Project
A. RESOURCE-BASED PROJECT
• also known as learning through discovery
• The teacher facilitates and will supply information if
needed.
B. SIMPLE CREATIONS
• focused on the creativity of the students
• Creativity said to combine three (3) skills; namely,
analysing, synthesizing and promoting.
1. ANALYSING
• distinguishing the similarities and
differences and finding the problems to be
solved.
2. SYNTHESIZING
• creating new ideas
3. PROMOTING
• selling of new ideas to allow the public
to test the ideas themselves.
C. GUIDED HYPERMEDIA PROJECT
• production of self-made multimedia projects
• two approaches: instructive tool and communication
tool
1. INSTRUCTIVE TOOL
2. COMMUNICATIVE TOOL
Video Editing is one of the
examples wherein students
will do a multimedia
presentation (with
texts, music, photos, video
clips, etc.)
D. WEB-BASED PROJECT
• Students create
and post their
own web pages.

Learning Educational Technology
helps me a lot as a future educator. It is
true that technology in teaching
contributes in such a way that it makes
the teacher’s task easier.

Some say that technology is already
substituting teachers. No and will never
be. That’s why, as teachers, there should
still be a balanced use of technologies.

Encouraging students to be
engaged in class still depends on the
teacher, her strategies and instructional
materials, because Ed Tech is not all
about gadgets.
THE STUDENT AFTER EDTECH
It is true that the true learning
doesn’t only occur inside the classroom
but also outside. So, we can say that we
truly learned when we have already
applied some of the principles in a real
life situation.
THE STUDENT AFTER EDTECH
After this subject, we are expected
to put what we’ve learned into action. We
may not remember everything that was
taught, but at least utilize some of it.

  • 3. I’ve taken Educational Technology 1 (EDTC21) last semester, while Ed Tech 2 (EDTC 22) is being taken this semester. THE STUDENT
  • 4. ED TECH IN A NUTSHELL Educational Technology as a subject helped us teachers gain ideas, think of possible strategies and utilize better instructional materials in relation to technology.
  • 5. This is one of the lessons I learned during Ed Tech 1 that we should know the proper way of making a better PowerPoint presentation. MAKING A BETTER POWERPOINT PRESENTATION
  • 6. IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION… …do not use light font color in a light background color.
  • 7. IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION… …do not use dark font color in a dark background color.
  • 8. IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION… …do not use unreadable texts. …use 40-44 point for the font size of the titles …use 18-32 point for the font size of the body
  • 9. IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION… …use “serif font” (Times New Roman) in a formal presentation and “san serif font” (Arial) in an informal presentation.
  • 10. IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION… …do not use icons or pictures that are not related to your topic.
  • 11. IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION… …do not use a photo as a background for your presentation. It may good artistically but it distracts from the point you are making.
  • 12. IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION… …it’s okay to be creative, but it may distract the audience from the points you are making. …two colors for the whole presentation would do.
  • 13. IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION… …use 2-3 bullets for each slide. …phrases are better than sentences and paragraphs. …simplify the information for each slide to the point of being skeletal
  • 14. IN MAKING A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION… …use bold and italic labelling for the special emphasis of your points. …limit the no. of words in each slide; it should not be more than 30 words.
  • 15. HIGHER THINKING SKILLS THROUGH IT-BASED PROJECT There are four (4) types of IT-based project: a. Resource-based Project b. Simple Creations c. Guided Hypermedia Project d. Web-based Project
  • 16. A. RESOURCE-BASED PROJECT • also known as learning through discovery • The teacher facilitates and will supply information if needed.
  • 17. B. SIMPLE CREATIONS • focused on the creativity of the students • Creativity said to combine three (3) skills; namely, analysing, synthesizing and promoting.
  • 18. 1. ANALYSING • distinguishing the similarities and differences and finding the problems to be solved.
  • 20. 3. PROMOTING • selling of new ideas to allow the public to test the ideas themselves.
  • 21. C. GUIDED HYPERMEDIA PROJECT • production of self-made multimedia projects • two approaches: instructive tool and communication tool
  • 23. 2. COMMUNICATIVE TOOL Video Editing is one of the examples wherein students will do a multimedia presentation (with texts, music, photos, video clips, etc.)
  • 24. D. WEB-BASED PROJECT • Students create and post their own web pages.
  • 25. LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 1 AND EDTECH 2 Learning Educational Technology helps me a lot as a future educator. It is true that technology in teaching contributes in such a way that it makes the teacher’s task easier.
  • 26. LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 1 AND EDTECH 2 Some say that technology is already substituting teachers. No and will never be. That’s why, as teachers, there should still be a balanced use of technologies.
  • 27. LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 1 AND EDTECH 2 Encouraging students to be engaged in class still depends on the teacher, her strategies and instructional materials, because Ed Tech is not all about gadgets.
  • 28. THE STUDENT AFTER EDTECH It is true that the true learning doesn’t only occur inside the classroom but also outside. So, we can say that we truly learned when we have already applied some of the principles in a real life situation.
  • 29. THE STUDENT AFTER EDTECH After this subject, we are expected to put what we’ve learned into action. We may not remember everything that was taught, but at least utilize some of it.
