1. Treatment 1
Working Title – Lost – This is the title I am currently thinking about using, I think it will be
edited a little bit, but for the moment it is good.
Length – I think I want my filmto be roughly 5-10 minutes long as the story I am trying to
tell can be shown fairly quickly but giving myself 10 minutes could lead to the outcome of a
more exciting film with a more in depth story.

Introduction Of Key Characters – There is most likely going to be 1 main character which
will be the boy who is lost but obviously there will be other characters just not as crucial to
the film. I don’t know who is going to play the boy yet but someone who looks very innocent
and distant from humanity, I am thinking will be the perfect match for this role. He will need
to be wearing run down clothes as if he has been lost for a long time in the forest and living
off himself and has been for a while.
Synopsis:
Act 1 – In the first act the scene will be set in the forest with the boy and nobody else in the
scene, I will try to keep a fairly bland basic scene so that the audience can easily understand
what is happening at the start, the boy will just be going about his regular day in the forest,
living in his self-built house and living off the land, the first act won’t include very much
content because there isn’t very much information to spread from this act. The audience
will mainly use this scene to get to know the boy and see what the main purpose of the film
is.
Act 2 – This act will be the main scene of the film, there will be a search party for the boy
which will include people such as police officers and volunteers who may be related to the
boy or know him. The boy will be on the run from the search party as he likes his life away
from others but everyone wants nothing but to see him again, he was once an idol and
loved in the community but he decided to run away. His family will be grieving and missing
him a lot because the search party will be unsuccessful but it isn’t too bad as he has been
missing for a long time, so it doesn’t hit as close to home anymore, but reminders still hurt
them a lot.
During act 2, the boy will be on the run and he will have to leave his current location of
which he has been staying for a very long time, he is upset about this because it felt like a
new home to him. He is also angry because he just wants to be left alone and the fact
people are coming after him and want him back agitates him because he doesn’t like the
community he was once a part of, it will remain a mystery throughout the filmwhy he hates
his family and original living place.
Act 3 – The search will be successful, and the boy is taken in for questioning, the film ends
whilst he is talking to police officers about his story. The rest of the search party and his
family are very relieved he was found as he has been lost for a long time at this point. The
final scene will be something like him starting to talk about the beginning of his story, it may
2. reveal a little bit of why he left to the audience but for the most part they will be left in the
dark.
Target Audience – I think the audience can range a lot, young children may not find the
story line interesting but teenagers and young adults would enjoy it, I think. The story will
be fast paced, and therefore adults who are a little bit older may not enjoy the film as much.
I will try to reach the audience by keeping them engaged with fast paced scenes, especially
the ‘hunt’ they go on to find the boy.
Form and Style – For the most part, the filmwill have quite basic camera angles and tripod
sort of filming. I do want to include a scene with a handheld camera. I think when the hunt/
chase is going on it would be a great opportunity to use this sort of shot, I think even
something like a drone shot to show the distance shortening between the search party and
the boy would be great but getting a drone could be difficult. The genre will be mystery and
thriller which I think shouldn’t be that hard to do, just keeping things secretive to the
audience should be great.
Marketplace – There is room for a second filmhere mainly because the ending is going to
be a cliff hanger, I don’t think a second filmis necessary although it would be nice for clarity.
As for the actual market place, I really don’t know where it would stand, I think it would do
well in festivals and other events it would be featured in but it really depends on the final
product which I am working towards.
