Social groupsare usedeverydayinmedia.These are usedtorepresentage, ethnicity,social class,
sexuality,genderandphysical ability.Filmseithermeetorchallengesocial stereotypesandIam
goingto be talkingaboutthis.
The firstsocial group I am goingto be talkingaboutissocial classes.The social classesare beingsplit
intothree.The firstI am goingto be talkingaboutisupperclass.The upperclassinmodern societies
isthe social classcomposedof the wealthiestmembersof society,whoalsowieldthe greatest
political power. The secondismiddle class.Thisisthe peoplethatare inskillednon-manual and
professionaloccupations.The lowerclassisthe classof people employedforwages,especiallyin
manual or industrial work.Itisalsoknownas lowerclass.Social classisn’treallyamaincomponent
inour filmopening.Howeverthere isstill adifferentiationof social classesinouropening.The news
presentercanbe shownas upperclassdue to hisjob professionandthe clothesthathe iswearing.

people inthe same yearas me and the same age 16/17 so therefore itisa fairlynarrow stereotype
of eitherbeingastudentora ‘chav’.The stereotype ismethere asthe majorityof people thatare in
the filmare the same age and all ineducation.Howeveratthe start of the filmitis apparentthat
there isa much olderman.Thisshowshimas a newspresenter.Thisalsomeetsastereotype ashe is
fairlyold,withaprofessional jobrole.There isalsoalittle girl,grace whichstarsinout filmopening.
She alsomeetsthe stereotypicaltoddler,playinginthe garden,ona slide.

my filmopening.The majorityof the peopleare Christian/white British.Theymeetthe stereotypes
alsoby remainingcivil throughout.There isone actorwithinthe filmopeningwhichisfromAsia,he
alsomeetsthe stereotype.There are noethical complicationsinmyfilm.

commentedonthatmuch due to not revealinganythingwithinthe firsttwominutes.There isa
relationshiponthe filmbutcannotbe seeninthe opening.

film.Thisisbecause of the mix of genders.The femalesinmyfilmopeningmeetthe stereotypeof
beingweakandvulnerable.Bethisstuckina house andis cryingfor help,thisshowsthatshe is
weakand cannotfightthe zombies,maybe due tohergender?Whereasthe male thatisinmy film
openingisshowntobe the strong figure inthe story.He isthe one that has killedthe zombies after
findingoutaboutthe apocalypse. Thismeetsthe stereotypical male beingthe strong,hero.AlsoI
can commenton that the newsreporterwasa male.Thisalsomeetsthe stereotype thatoldmales
have an upperclassjob.
The physical abilityinmyfilmcannotreallybe commentedoninmyfilmdue toeverybodybeingan
able bodied.The stereotypesare metdue to nothavingany difficultiesthatcanbe seen.
