PLATICAR aims to create a knowledge ecosystem for transferring agricultural technology. A knowledge ecosystem is a complex adaptive system of people who cultivate relationships and tools to create, integrate, share and use knowledge, with the goal of enabling knowledge rather than managing it. The knowledge ecosystem metaphor draws comparisons to ecological concepts like trophic pyramids, food webs, and metapopulations. PLATICAR seeks to systematize experiences, close the digital gap, and build capacities through its portal and training to decrease the timeframe for technological adoption. Building an effective knowledge ecosystem is a multi-year process that requires attitudinal shifts and participative ownership to guarantee success.
