Why I Want to Attend a Service Academy
ct to gain from the Air Force Academy experience and how will it help you in your Air Force
career? (250 to 300 words, 3000 characters max)
My initial interest in the Air Force Academy was sparked when I accompanied my parents to a
Military Child Education Coalition conference in the summer of 2004. My father and I, not involved
in the conference, decided to spend the week exploring the Colorado Springs area, and after touring
for several days, decided to go to what my father called "Zoomie U". We took the typical summer
tourist tour, but I was enthralled. The chapel, the mountains, and the campus excited me, despite my
youth. I spent the rest of the vacation asking questions on how to go to the Academy, what I could
do in the Air Force, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How did you resolve it? How did the outcome affect you? If something similar happens in the
future, how would you react? (400 to 500 words, 3000 characters max)
As a high school student, I am involved in the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps
(AFJROTC). Due to high involvement and leadership potential, I was promoted to the Inspector
General position, which pertains to Corps discipline and standards. When I initially accepted the
position, I did not fully appreciate the effort or candor required, and it was not until several months
into the assignment that I began to. In the AFJROTC chain of command, the Corps Commander has
five people directly underneath him, namely; the Deputy Corps Commander, the Inspector General,
two squadron commanders, and the Command Chief Master Sergeant. Typically, the Inspector
General's concern is outside of these four, as they should be well behaved due to their high status.
However, one morning, one of the top five publically berated another top five member due to her
sexual orientation in the school hallway before class. The current military policy is "don't ask, don't
tell"; however, the concern was not her sexual orientation, but the fact that a high ranking cadet had
shown a lack of awareness and political correctness in the situation. As the offense was public, if I
did nothing, it would be an obvious dereliction of duty. If I did do something, it could be seen as
selfishness

Swot Analysis Of Jim Sinegal 's Idea For A New Business
Synthesis Essay – Jim Sinegal
MSgt Ryan P. McCauley
Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy
November 5, 2014
Instructor: HptFw Rainer Lichtsinn
Jim Sinegal
In 1983, Jim Sinegal's idea for a new business was a place where there were no signs identifying
isles, no advertising, no way for customers to bag their purchases, and before customers would be
allowed to shop, they had to pay an annual fee. That business is Costco and during Jim's 30 years as
founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), he grew that business into the fourth largest retailer in
the country. Looking back on the legacy Jim left behind when he retired, it is clear that Jim is one of
the most visionary and ethical leaders of our modern times. First, we will look at how Jim
implemented his vision while demonstrating idealized influence by setting aside his self–interests
and gaining the trust of the customer for the good of the company. Then we will explore Costco's
code of ethics that employs Dr. Toner's principles of owing, ordering, and oughting. Finally, we will
explore how Jim's leadership style has impacted me and influenced my leadership.
Visionary Leader
Jim Sinegal was a visionary leader as demonstrated by his departure from the generally accepted
retail business practices in favor of a transformational leadership style that gained the trust of his
customers. Jim founded Costco with the idea that no product would be marked up by more than 15
percent (Chu & Rockwood,

National Security Act Essay
National Security Act
The National Security Act of 1947 became law on July 26, 1947. It created the Department of the
Air Force, headed by a secretary of the Air Force. Under the Department of the Air Force, the act
established the United States Air Force. The United States Air Force, upon establishment, had a
mission statement. The mission statement included topics on values, strong culture, and ethics. The
Air Force is one of many organizations that are outcome oriented. Its goal is to complete missions of
success with the least amount of problems or lost lives as possible. To accomplish the Air Force
goals, a chain of command is a must. In addition, the organization relies on teamwork to achieve
success. The organizational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The secretary should be able to install a sense of trust and morality to cadets, while at the same time
promote a change in conduct. After sixty years of tradition, change within the Air Force will not be
an easy task. With change, Secretary Roche needs to able to provide a safe environment that
encourages everyone, especially women, to speak out against sexual misconduct. Sexual assault is
one of many misconduct acts that one can commit. These types of crimes don't just hurt the offender
or victim, but hurts the squad, unit, and the Air Force as a whole. All of the offenders should be held
liable and prosecuted for their crimes. The victim should know that there is nothing wrong with
filing a report. If action isn't taken and the victim doesn't tell anyone, then the offender will then be
persuaded to harm someone else. Squads, as well as the units they are in, should then know to
support the victim and participate extra when needed. Leaders of the units and squads should be
enrolled in classes to better fulfill their knowledge on how to handle situations such as sexual
misconduct. With types of cases like these, the Air Force as a whole will be affected in some way or
another. The reputation is one concern that should be taken into consideration. Recruitment is
another aspect that could be affected for the worse. There should be policies put in place to promptly
and effectively alleviate problems like this in the

Leadership Is The Best Leadership
Leadership is fundamental to every successful process known to mankind. There must always be
someone who is willing to initiate the first step, and by example, others are given inspiration or
purpose to follow suit. Though many definitions exist, Josh Kuehler captures the essence of
leadership in business by noting "Leadership is the ability to inspire motivation in others to move
toward a desirable vision. While management is focused on tasks, leadership is focused on the
person. All in all, the best leadership drives change and long–lasting motivation." (Helmrich, 2015,
p. 1) Given the thousands of leadership definitions, why did I choose this one? Because it clearly
highlights a clear difference between leadership and management. Leadership is about people, not
about processes, and people enable a strong ethics program. Therefore, my belief is that leadership,
not management is the primary catalyst behind a flexible yet sustainable ethics program in any
organization, private or public. Whether establishing, modifying, or cultivating a successful ethics
program, leadership involvement at all levels of an organization is absolutely paramount.
I'll use our very own United States Air Force as an example, as I spent 23 years in the organization. I
feel confident that I can demonstrate how the Air Force has adapted the seven Federal Sentencing
Guidelines for Organizations (FSGO) requirements of an "effective compliance and ethics
program." (Johnson, 2004, no page). As

Military Life Experience Research Paper
Medved.Session1.Journal
In this Journal I will be writing about my life experience of retiring out of the military and how it
has influenced the beginning of my academic work and goals at Colorado Christian
University (CCU). I will first explain my decision to get out of the military and how that decision as
well as my first job transformed my college goals. I will next explain how this lesson further
confirmed my assumptions on my college career. Finally, I will write about how I plan to apply what
I have learned through my experiences, guidance of God, and this lesson to achieve my college
goals at CCU. Hopefully this journal will help you better understand me and why I am choosing the
path of Business Administration for my college degree. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I hope that by learning in a meaningful way I will be less distracted and excited to learn verses
putting it off. Next let's look at my way forward at CCU after my transition and what this lesson
taught me.
After my transformation from military to civilian and learning more about myself in this lesson, I
now have a better picture of how to accomplish my goals. First and foremost, I need to stop using
being busy as an excuse to not get my degree done. I have let too much time pass me by and there
will always be life reasons to hold me back if I let them. The short video clip "Ask
It" (Stanly, 2015) fits me perfectly regarding how I need to stop making excuses and use my
experiences and take action. Also, knowing I have overcome many obstacles has made me stronger
and increased my ability to push forward. I believe I can better educate myself while
helping others in the process. Helping others is the best way for me to learn the most about myself
and guide me to the right path. I watched ahead and the video for the next assignment,
"The Extra Mile" (Hoyt, 2008), is a perfect example of how helping others helps you find

The Tradition Of The Century Viking Wars
1. Many of the Air Force's customs, traditions, and procedures are traceable to the earliest warriors.
The dining–in is one such military tradition that has its roots in the distant past. The pre–Christian
Roman Legions probably began the dining–in tradition. Roman military commanders frequently
held great feasts to honor individuals and military units. These get–togethers were victory
celebrations where past feats were remembered and loot of new conquests paraded. The second
century Viking war lords stylized the format of the victory feast. With the exception of the lookout,
or watch, the entire clan attended these celebrations. Feats of strength and skill were performed to
entertain the members and guests. The leader took his place at the head of the table, with all others
to his right and left in descending order of rank.
2. The dining–in custom was transplanted to ancient England by Roman and Viking warriors, and
King Arthur 's Knights of the Round Table practiced a form of dining–in in the sixth century. The
tradition eventually spread to non–military groups, such as the Saxon nobles of the tenth century and
the medieval monasteries. The monks, who followed a more rigid regimen, had their form of
dining–in as an integral part of monastic life. The clergy spread the custom to the academies and
universities. The British officer corps, with many graduates of these centers of learning, carried the
tradition back to military units. The dining–in became increasingly

Explain Why I Want To Join The Airforce
When I am older I want to join the Airforce because when I was four my oldest brother left to go to
the Airforce. I have always been very active and that is an important skill in the Airforce. I've always
wanted to work in an airplane. I don't want to be a pilot, but I want to be a load master. A load
master is someone who has to load all the supplies and calculate the mass and weight of each
occupant and supply box to make sure the planee can carry it. The necessary training is a very
rigorous training schedule to continue being in shape and ready. The education varies, but for every
cadet (resident of the Academy) there is a four year education scale. Any occupant that joins can
grow in the ranks. If someone goes through the academy, they will join the force as an Airman or an
officer. If someone goes through boot camp, they'll be an Airman basic. It will be hard work and

There are many strong characteristics that the academy is looking for. A few are, patience and
determination because it will be hard and long. Also, it is hard work so you will have to break
yourself in order to be able to be strong. Having common sense is very important, even if it seems
not important. My brother went through boot camp and not the academy, however he has lived very
many different places. He has advised me in living in Guam or Texas because he loved both places
more than the other five places. I would like either Guam or Seattle because my brother Cory has
also enjoyed living there. These places are just places I would enjoy living. I will get to suggest the
place I would want to live; however I will be moved according to where they believe is best for me.
To help me with everything and earning higher recognition would be helping at soup kitchens. Also
tutoring younger kids could help. Lastly, volunteering at hospitals can really boost

Air Force Academy Personal Statement
When I think about my future contribution to the Air Force Academy I think of myself as a well
rounded participant. Although not every accomplish I have achieved has come easy, I have never
given up on any task or sport. I love to challenge myself with obstacles bigger than my colleagues
and always strive to do better the next time.
I have prepared myself for the classroom at the Air Force Academy by taking multiple Advanced
Placement classes during my high school years. These courses have fostered my abilities to work
collaboratively with peers while giving me the characteristics to be a leader. My strong suit in
school is in science and I plan to major in biology. I believe that I can become a top scholar in the
field of science and possibly become a biological engineer for the military. I am a hands on learner

I have played baseball since I was five years old and am as passionate about the game as I am about
my academics. I would be honored to play baseball for the Air Force Academy. Enduring the rigors
of baseball and difficult classes, simultaneously, is a challenge that I have always prided myself on.
My ability to multi–task will keep me proactive and an asset to the Air Force Academy.
I consider myself a leader on many levels, as the top role is always trusted in my hands. I am a role
model to my younger siblings as well as my peers.
Off the field and out of the classroom, I have hiked, skied, and climbed mountains through–out the
United States. Not only above sea level, but below. I have gone scuba diving and free diving all
down the coast of Florida. When I am faced with fear I have been able to work myself through it,
which has built up my confidence to face obstacles head on.

The United States Air Force Academy Essay
On Nov 2013, the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) awarded the contract to "modernize"
its existing custom developed application Cadet Administrative Management Information System
(CAMIS) II to the Solers Corporation (Solers Corporation, 2016). CAMIS was developed over
several years and began to encompass support for many disparate business processes at the
Academy, but primarily served as a Student Information/Management System. This modernization
effort or CAMIS III was the third iteration of moving CAMIS from a legacy system to a new
platform. Almost 2 years later: Mar 2016, this project ended with the government decision to
discontinue the modernization effort. This was done by primarily not exercising option years and
stopping funding on the modernization development line item of the contract. (Paulson, 2015)
Despite modernization effort ending, the government continued to support the CAMIS III operations
and support portion of the contract, as well as the legacy CAMIS II contract. This paper attempts to
analyze why this software project failed, based on the personal experiences and perspectives from
the overall combined team and attempts to understand why. The major reasons for failure included:
gross underestimates (scope, cost, and schedule). However, there were opportunities to achieve a
better outcome. These opportunities were failures by the program manager, vendor team, and
management stakeholder expectations. "No one starts a war––or rather, no

Schlosser examines how youths assume a crucial part in the workforce of the fast food industry. He
takes note of around 66% of the country's fast food laborers are less than 20 years old. Rather than
depending upon a little, steady, generously compensated, and well‑trained workforce, the fast food
industry searches out part‑time, young laborers who are willing to accept low pay. Teenagers have
been the ideal possibility for these occupations, not just on the grounds that they are less lavish to
procure than grown–ups, additionally in light of the fact that their young inability makes them
simpler to control. Another part of strong throughput is strict regulation at fast food eateries.
Organizations force strict guidelines on how an errand is to be performed and make undertakings so
they require as meager aptitude as could be allowed. Subsequently, it is anything but difficult to

Chief Master Sergeant Paul W. Airey Essay
Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy Introduction There are many types of leaders
not only in the military, but also in every civilian company around the world. We rarely see a leader
who possesses both vision and an ethical style of leadership; however, CMSgt Paul W. Airey, the
first Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, was this type of leader. Throughout this paper I will
discuss his ability to be both a visionary and ethical leader, which resulted in CMSgt Airey being
labeled a "legend" (LaGrone, 2009, p.2). He was described by the former Chief of Staff, General
Norton Schwartz as an "Airman's Airman and "one of the true pioneers of the service" (LaGrone,
2009, p.2). CMSgt Airey has left a legacy that will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CMSgt Airey used his leadership ability to address the low retention rates of first term Airmen,
which was at a 12 year low (Lucas, 1997). As a visionary leader he understood that it was not just
the war in Vietnam that was to blame for the low retention (Lucas, 1997). He realized that the
promotion system was broken and he set his sites on developing a system that would improve
promotion opportunities for every Airman (Lucas, 1997). Many would say that this was the most
influential contribution he made during his tenure. CMSgt Airey led a team from several career
fields. He understood and used the "Z" process according to Thomas N. Barnes Center (2012a)
"team building" when he met with his team (p.6–8). The teams use and understanding according to
Thomas N. Barnes Center (2012a) "change management" resulted in the the development of the
Weighted Airman Promotion System (WAPS) (p.17–19) (Lucas, 1997). Chief Airey was quoted as
saying "the end result was a promotion system which today is still in effect and is by far the fairest,
most equitable enlisted promotion system of any of the armed forces"(Lucas, 1997, p3).
Furthermore, CMSgt Airey understood that you could not have vision if you sat behind a desk and
because of this he traveled to many bases throughout his tenure. He was asked by the chairman of
the House Banking Committee to go to Europe after many complaints about outrageous interest
rates on loans

Stewardship Of The Army Profession Essay
Stewardship of the Army Profession is the last of the Five Essential Characteristics of the Army
Profession, but in terms of importance, it is just as, if not more important than the other four. The
United States Army's ADRP–1, or Army Doctrinal Reference Publication 1, even defines
stewardship as "the responsibility of Army professionals to ensure the profession maintains its five
essential characteristics now and into the future". Such importance is placed on this characteristic
because Stewardship of the Army Profession is the one that ensures the other four are maintained. I
sought out the definition of stewardship because despite having spent almost three and a half years
and West Point, I was not entirely sure what the doctrine behind Stewardship was. In doing this, I
felt like I was better prepared for both this paper and ensuring that the corrections I made were
stewarding the profession. With this newly acquired knowledge, I set out to make my corrections.
My first correction for this assignment came from doing my job as First Sergeant for my company.
The correction involved three different cadets, Cadet Private Michael Avallone, Cadet Private Brian
Brooks, and Cadet Private Riley Eck. On 2 October 2016, the above–stated cadets witnessed a cadet
from a rival company running around Grant Area with company spirit gear. These cadets decided to

War on Japan Essay
through history, man always seems to be at war. In some cases he is the attacker, in others the
defender. In both cases, these wars are broken down into two basic elements, the battles that are
fought and the individuals who fight them. The elements conflict, courage, fear, cowardice, heroism,
victory, and defeat make up the exploits of war we record in our history books. This paper will deal
with war, more specifically, a special exploit within one of the most significant wars ever

What if Army bombers could take off an aircraft carrier? Low tried his idea on Admiral King. King
thought the idea had potential so he sent it on to Captain Donald Duncan to turn his plan into fact.
This he did, and the Tokyo Raid became fact instead of fiction.
The first step in the plan was finding a leader. General Arnold requested Lieutenant Colonel James
Dolittle as the man to select the plane and the men for the mission. Dolittle accepted the challenge
without hesitation. Arnold let him know in no uncertain terms that he was to be a planner not a pilot.
As Doolittle went to work on the project, he saw a lot of problems. First of all, carrier landings were
impossible for twin engine bombers. Next, the total air trip was eleven hundred miles. The closest
landing area would be in Russia, but Joseph Stalin would not let them land there because he didn't
want to be invaded by Japan since he already had his hands full with the Germans. Fortunately,
China said it was all right to land there but they said it reluctantly. With these considerations and
others, Doolittle determined that the chances of the mission succeeding was fifty–fifty. Despite the
odds, the decision was made to begin the project.
As the first step, despite Arnold, Doolittle wrote himself into the plan as a pathfinder. Doolittle's job
during the attack would be to light up Tokyo with incendiary

General Tommy Franks
General Tommy Franks last Army post was as the Commander of the U.S. Central Command,
overseeing U.S. military operations in a 25–country region, including the Middle East; however, the
command that stands out to me was his first. He was a truly a transformational leader, both visionary
and ethical.
Visionary Leader
The time was 1973, just at the tail end of the Vietnam War. General Franks was a Captain
commanding a Battery of nine howitzers in Bayreuth Germany. His unit was full of drug dealers and
draftees that didn't want to be in the Army. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His unit was performing well and morale was high, but he realized that he still has a lot to learn
about leadership. That summer one of his Lieutenants approached him about a soldier he refers to as
Garcia. He tells Captain Franks that Garcia is always late for the morning formation and that the
night before he cussed him out. Handing Captain Franks Garcia's paperwork he said he was
recommending Garcia for a Court Marshal. As Captain Franks looked over the personnel folder he
realized that there was something wrong; Garcia had recently re–enlisted, earned a GED, and had
been nominated for Soldier of the Quarter. He calls Garcia into his office and asks him what was
wrong. Garcia's mannerisms and clear disrespect were readily apparent. Captain Franks gets straight
to the point and asks Garcia what his problem is. After hearing a gut wrenching story of Garcia
requesting leave through the chain of command to return to the states for his Grandmothers funeral
and being denied because he was too important to the team to let go, then a subsequent request for
leave, after his younger brother was murdered, again being denied for the same reason, and the
emotional anguish that Garcia was going through Captain Franks was deeply moved. This is the
point that he begins a change into a transformational leader. At that moment he put his arm around
Garcia and states "What happened is my fault. I know

Gender Inequality Towards Women During The Service Then...
THESIS: Gender inequality towards women in the service then and now
Women have served in the armed forces from as early as the American Revolution to present. They
have served selflessly with dedication towards their country in times of conflict. About two hundred
years ago it wasn't easy for a women to be in the service, they would disguise themselves as men. It
was believed that women did not have the capability and were not strong enough to handle the
situations that would arise in the daily life of someone in the service. Gender inequality has always
been a issue for women, even today many women are a victim of inequality. It was said that women
are more fragile than men; males are stronger and able to do more than females. In some things,
women weren't allowed to partake in physical activities such as combat, field artillery, and etc.
Women normally worked with logistic and as nurses. The qualifications for men and women are
very similar, but it has its difference; most women work with air defense artillery, nursing, logistic,
and etc. While most men work in combat, field artillery, mechanics, and etc. Out of generals and
admirals, 7.1% are women, out of those women 46% were in the medical field. In fact, only two
women in military history became four star generals. The Washington Post states, "We can't expect
women to be accepted in combat roles, or the culture of sexual harassment and assault to change
when the military retains so few of its women in the senior

The Role of Culture and Leadership in the United States...
The Role of Culture and Leadership in the United States Air Force Merriam Webster's dictionary
defines culture as "the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an
institution or organization" and leadership as "the act or an instance of leading." The United States
Air Force, like any other large organization, relies on leadership at all levels to effectively operate its
mission. Further, the United States Air Force since it's inception in 1947 has had a continuously
evolving set of cultures unique to the organization. Joining these two concepts together has directly
lead to the United States Air Force being held as the "Best Air Force in the World." The United

Airmen assigned to the United States Air Force wear distinctive uniforms that convey membership
in the organization as well as facts about the individual. From their rank within the organization via
insignias, their functions via occupational badges to their past duty locations and accolades in the

the person (Beyland, 2011). The United States Air Force's artifacts do not stop there, even
something as simple as what colors building are painted is unique to the service. Regardless of
location, most permanent building are painted a shade of brown colloquially known as "Creech

why chose air force over any other branch is how they value life. Army and the marines have a very

Air Force Academy Essay
Did you know that the Air Force Academy only has a 12.3% acceptance rate? Because the Air Force
Academy has such a competitive admission policy, candidates need to be physically fit, well
educated, and have a vision of what to do as a graduate. The United States Air Force Academy
(USAFA) was established on April 1, 1954 to serve as a proving ground for all Air Force cadets and
officers. Construction of the academy started in 1955, but it wasn't until 1957 that it was complete.
The academy is stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado due to the fact that Colorado donated one
million dollars to support the cause. The first graduating class the academy had graduated in 1959.
By then, the attendance had grown to 4,417. Today, more than 48,000 cadets have graduated
throughout the years. A major boost to this huge production of graduates was the acceptance of
female cadets in 1976. Today, the USAFA has produced some of the finest pilots the United States

Women in Military
Women in the United States have long fought for the right to be included in many facets of society
such as the right to vote to breaking into professions like the medical field and getting females
elected to major government offices. But one of the most intriguing questions of integration has yet
to be fully answered. Apart from all others is the battle to allow women the right, the honor, and the
privilege of serving and defending their country as part of the United States Armed Forces. Being in
the military means prestige, honor, pride, and the satisfaction that comes along with engaging what
is considered one of the most valiant and traditionally revered professions in our country. However,

The Marines and what was to later become the Air Force also began to accept women applicants. In
1976, the three service academies all accepted their first class of women. While it was long debated
whether women could compete and excel in the kind of environment that service academies are
known for, at least the scholastic questions were answered when one of the female cadets at West
Point was recently named the valedictorian of her graduating class. On Tuesday, October 21, 1997,
the United States government dedicated a new memorial at the Arlington War Memorial in
Arlington, Virginia. Named the Women in Military Service for America Memorial , it was the first
national monument of its kind that recognized those who fought and died in the protection of their
country. Women have faced two fights when it came to the Armed Services, the first being the right
and honor of serving their country and secondly on the battlefield itself. While women are now
capable of being both enlisted personnel and officers in the military, a new question arises – should
the role of women in the military finally be expanded to allow them to fight for their country in
direct combat? Many experts argue that when it comes to women in the military, there are

Air Force Diversity Essay
WASHINGTON – The senior leadership of the Air Force remains largely white and male despite an
emphasis on diversity in the service and throughout the military, according to data and interviews
with service leaders.
The Air Force has 280 generals, but just 18 of them belong to minority groups. That includes two
Hispanic officers, or less than 1% of the total. The 13 African–American generals make up 4% of
the Air Force's general officer corps.
The Pentagon's other branches, including the Army, share the same struggle to diversify their forces,
a priority of Defense Secretary Ashton Carter. A key concern for the Army resides in the lack of
minority officers leading its combat battalions and brigades. That's where lieutenant colonels and

More officers declined to identify their race, 5%, than the next highest minority group, African
Americans, at 3%. Nearly 94% are men. The military, as a whole, is dominated by men at 85% of its
personnel.
WHY DIVERSITY MATTERS
James and Welsh issued a memo to airmen on why greater diversity is needed in the service. It also
outlined several initiatives aimed at expanding the ranks of women and minorities in the Air Force.
"This approach is necessary because our increasingly diverse citizenry places a special trust in us
and we must keep that trust by ensuring our Air Force is representative of the best of the populace
from which we draw our considerable strength," the memo says.
Army commanders: White men lead a diverse force
Beyond better representing the United States, the Air Force views diversity as necessary for
effectiveness. It loses out on talented minorities and women when they're underrepresented, said
Chevalier Cleaves, the Air Force director of diversity and inclusion and a retired KC–135 tanker
pilot.
"Diversity and inclusion are national security imperatives," Cleaves said. "So we must succeed.

Why Attend A Service Academy Essay
Why do you wish to attend a service academy?
"If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you"–Fred Devito. Although this quote is not well–

atmosphere that will challenge every aspect of my life. I believe the Air Force Academy offers me
this challenge for two main reasons: they are a highly competitive university, and, I will have the
opportunity to serve in the United States military.
The first major reason I wish to attend the Air Force Academy is the school itself. The school offers
many majors that I am interested in which include engineering and medicine. I can also envision
myself being a pilot and there is no better school to attend for that than the Air Force Academy.
Another great thing about the school is the campus. The campus is located around mountains where
there are great places to do outdoor activitiessuch as hiking and fishing. My love for nature and the
outdoors makes me appreciate their beautiful campus at the Academy. Another aspect that draws me
to the Air Force Academy is that it is highly competitive. I love this because I thrive off competition.

General Billy Mitchell
"Guilty of Insubordination!" This was the verdict in the court martial of General William "Billy"
Mitchell. General Mitchell spent his adult life pursuing his ideal of a separate Air Service
recognized as a dominant force in military capabilities, but his actions in pursuit of his beliefs
undermined military leadership at the time. General Billy Mitchell was a Visionary Leader but his
decisions also made him an Unethical Leader. To solidify this claim, we will examine how General
Mitchell's forward thinking and refusal to accept the status quo led to the creation of the modern Air
Force, how his tactics to realize his vision were not ethical, and how his visionary, but unethical
leadership traits and behaviors are relevant to examples of my own leadership behaviors.
Visionary Leader
General Mitchell was a Visionary Leader who recognized the US military must include air power as
a dominant role in its Operational Doctrine in order to successfully prosecute and decisively win
future wars. According to Jeffers (2005), US Operational Doctrine dictated the US Navy Fleet was
the key to winning wars prior to World War I. While in command of all 1,481 American and Allied
airplanes in France during World War I, General Mitchell successfully created and employed his air

organization goals. Moreover, from my opinion, I will discus whether employees are satisfied with
the current reward system and what I would do to improve the current system to make more

Currently, the 10th Security Forces Squadron has many reward systems in place. One of which is a

Therefore, their flight chiefs will look at the employee's uniforms, dress appearance, hygiene, and
work performance to evaluate who will get an extra day off. This type of reward systems has
worked very well within the unit; it has worked so well that the operations section is now rotating
every Friday off for each employee, so that every person that works in operations will get one
Friday off a month.
This fringe benefit has boosted flight work; customer service throughout the Air Force Academy,
increase work production in the office and the quality of work has improved.
Personally, I believe in both TA and extra time off without being charged for leave. TA has proven to
help people meet their dreams in life with completing a college degree. Military members that really
want to go to college regardless of who is paying for the bill will attend and complete the degree
program. Younger members of the 10th SFS need to realize that nothing come free in life and what's
worth working hard for regardless of the costs is worth having. Those military members, who

The Respect of Soldier's Rank
In the U.S. Military services, rank determines who gets to tell whom what to do. The higher one 's
rank the more authority (and responsibility) they have. U.S. Military personnel fall into one of three
categories: (1) enlisted members, (2) warrant officers, and (3) commissioned officers. Warrant
officers outrank all enlisted members, and commissioned officers outrank all warrant officers and
enlisted members.
"Rank" and "pay grade" are closely associated terms, but not quite the same. "Pay grade" is an

chief petty officer was established in 1894.During World War II, the Army adopted technician
grades. Technicians of a given grade earned the same pay and wore the same insignia as equivalent
noncommissioned officers except for a small "T" centered under the chevrons. Technicians, despite

Culture and Language Center (AFCLC) in order to create a feedback loop for leaders in the field to
apply cultural best practices and avoid friction points during ongoing coalition missions. We used
the first six steps of the 8 Step Problem Solving Model as the primary tool to build the framework
for our proposal.
2. To begin, we identified a problem related to maximizing coalition partnerships and explained the
current state of the issue and its impact on coalition missions and the Air Force.
a. To identify the problem, we first performed a SWOT Analysis (strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and threats) to help clarify and validate the problem. During SWOT Analysis we
identified that the United States brings many things to all coalitions its involved in. The U.S. brings
many resources, modern capabilities, and effective leadership through its strong chains of command.
Though we have many weaknesses, the strongest we identified as it relates to coalition partnerships
is ethnocentricity at all levels. This is even prevalent in the State–USAID Joint

Visionary And Ethical Leadership Of General Curtis
Visionary and Ethical Leadership of General Curtis LeMay

Visionary and Ethical Leadership of General Curtis LeMay
It's late afternoon on March 9th, 1945. The sun was shining brightly through a scattered deck of
clouds dotting the sky and there was a refreshing northeasterly breeze coming off the surrounding
waters. General Curtis LeMay is standing in the thick tropical air of Northwest Field on the small
Pacific island of Guam. He watches as over three hundred B–29 Superfortress bombers launch
northward towards Tokyo where they will use new and unproven tactics for delivering the most
devastating firebombing campaign in history. Through General LeMay's vision and innovation he
changed established doctrine of how bombers should operate in the European and Pacific theaters
and enabled untold successes but at what cost to American values and law?
My purpose is to show that General LeMay was a tremendous visionary leader although he made
unethical choices and that I have been able to see times in my life where principles of his actions
resonated with me. LeMay was a visionary leader due to his ability to adapt and win current wars
while keeping the foresight to look ahead at what was needed to shape the Air Force to deter or win
future wars. He was an unethical leader because while

Why I Want To Attend A Service Academy

  • 1. Why I Want to Attend a Service Academy ct to gain from the Air Force Academy experience and how will it help you in your Air Force career? (250 to 300 words, 3000 characters max) My initial interest in the Air Force Academy was sparked when I accompanied my parents to a Military Child Education Coalition conference in the summer of 2004. My father and I, not involved in the conference, decided to spend the week exploring the Colorado Springs area, and after touring for several days, decided to go to what my father called "Zoomie U". We took the typical summer tourist tour, but I was enthralled. The chapel, the mountains, and the campus excited me, despite my youth. I spent the rest of the vacation asking questions on how to go to the Academy, what I could do in the Air Force, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How did you resolve it? How did the outcome affect you? If something similar happens in the future, how would you react? (400 to 500 words, 3000 characters max) As a high school student, I am involved in the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC). Due to high involvement and leadership potential, I was promoted to the Inspector General position, which pertains to Corps discipline and standards. When I initially accepted the position, I did not fully appreciate the effort or candor required, and it was not until several months into the assignment that I began to. In the AFJROTC chain of command, the Corps Commander has five people directly underneath him, namely; the Deputy Corps Commander, the Inspector General, two squadron commanders, and the Command Chief Master Sergeant. Typically, the Inspector General's concern is outside of these four, as they should be well behaved due to their high status. However, one morning, one of the top five publically berated another top five member due to her sexual orientation in the school hallway before class. The current military policy is "don't ask, don't tell"; however, the concern was not her sexual orientation, but the fact that a high ranking cadet had shown a lack of awareness and political correctness in the situation. As the offense was public, if I did nothing, it would be an obvious dereliction of duty. If I did do something, it could be seen as selfishness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Swot Analysis Of Jim Sinegal 's Idea For A New Business Synthesis Essay – Jim Sinegal MSgt Ryan P. McCauley Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy November 5, 2014 Instructor: HptFw Rainer Lichtsinn Jim Sinegal In 1983, Jim Sinegal's idea for a new business was a place where there were no signs identifying isles, no advertising, no way for customers to bag their purchases, and before customers would be allowed to shop, they had to pay an annual fee. That business is Costco and during Jim's 30 years as founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), he grew that business into the fourth largest retailer in the country. Looking back on the legacy Jim left behind when he retired, it is clear that Jim is one of the most visionary and ethical leaders of our modern times. First, we will look at how Jim implemented his vision while demonstrating idealized influence by setting aside his self–interests and gaining the trust of the customer for the good of the company. Then we will explore Costco's code of ethics that employs Dr. Toner's principles of owing, ordering, and oughting. Finally, we will explore how Jim's leadership style has impacted me and influenced my leadership. Visionary Leader Jim Sinegal was a visionary leader as demonstrated by his departure from the generally accepted retail business practices in favor of a transformational leadership style that gained the trust of his customers. Jim founded Costco with the idea that no product would be marked up by more than 15 percent (Chu & Rockwood, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. National Security Act Essay National Security Act The National Security Act of 1947 became law on July 26, 1947. It created the Department of the Air Force, headed by a secretary of the Air Force. Under the Department of the Air Force, the act established the United States Air Force. The United States Air Force, upon establishment, had a mission statement. The mission statement included topics on values, strong culture, and ethics. The Air Force is one of many organizations that are outcome oriented. Its goal is to complete missions of success with the least amount of problems or lost lives as possible. To accomplish the Air Force goals, a chain of command is a must. In addition, the organization relies on teamwork to achieve success. The organizational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The secretary should be able to install a sense of trust and morality to cadets, while at the same time promote a change in conduct. After sixty years of tradition, change within the Air Force will not be an easy task. With change, Secretary Roche needs to able to provide a safe environment that encourages everyone, especially women, to speak out against sexual misconduct. Sexual assault is one of many misconduct acts that one can commit. These types of crimes don't just hurt the offender or victim, but hurts the squad, unit, and the Air Force as a whole. All of the offenders should be held liable and prosecuted for their crimes. The victim should know that there is nothing wrong with filing a report. If action isn't taken and the victim doesn't tell anyone, then the offender will then be persuaded to harm someone else. Squads, as well as the units they are in, should then know to support the victim and participate extra when needed. Leaders of the units and squads should be enrolled in classes to better fulfill their knowledge on how to handle situations such as sexual misconduct. With types of cases like these, the Air Force as a whole will be affected in some way or another. The reputation is one concern that should be taken into consideration. Recruitment is another aspect that could be affected for the worse. There should be policies put in place to promptly and effectively alleviate problems like this in the ... • 7. Leadership Is The Best Leadership Leadership is fundamental to every successful process known to mankind. There must always be someone who is willing to initiate the first step, and by example, others are given inspiration or purpose to follow suit. Though many definitions exist, Josh Kuehler captures the essence of leadership in business by noting "Leadership is the ability to inspire motivation in others to move toward a desirable vision. While management is focused on tasks, leadership is focused on the person. All in all, the best leadership drives change and long–lasting motivation." (Helmrich, 2015, p. 1) Given the thousands of leadership definitions, why did I choose this one? Because it clearly highlights a clear difference between leadership and management. Leadership is about people, not about processes, and people enable a strong ethics program. Therefore, my belief is that leadership, not management is the primary catalyst behind a flexible yet sustainable ethics program in any organization, private or public. Whether establishing, modifying, or cultivating a successful ethics program, leadership involvement at all levels of an organization is absolutely paramount. I'll use our very own United States Air Force as an example, as I spent 23 years in the organization. I feel confident that I can demonstrate how the Air Force has adapted the seven Federal Sentencing Guidelines for Organizations (FSGO) requirements of an "effective compliance and ethics program." (Johnson, 2004, no page). As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Military Life Experience Research Paper Medved.Session1.Journal In this Journal I will be writing about my life experience of retiring out of the military and how it has influenced the beginning of my academic work and goals at Colorado Christian University (CCU). I will first explain my decision to get out of the military and how that decision as well as my first job transformed my college goals. I will next explain how this lesson further confirmed my assumptions on my college career. Finally, I will write about how I plan to apply what I have learned through my experiences, guidance of God, and this lesson to achieve my college goals at CCU. Hopefully this journal will help you better understand me and why I am choosing the path of Business Administration for my college degree. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I hope that by learning in a meaningful way I will be less distracted and excited to learn verses putting it off. Next let's look at my way forward at CCU after my transition and what this lesson taught me. After my transformation from military to civilian and learning more about myself in this lesson, I now have a better picture of how to accomplish my goals. First and foremost, I need to stop using being busy as an excuse to not get my degree done. I have let too much time pass me by and there will always be life reasons to hold me back if I let them. The short video clip "Ask It" (Stanly, 2015) fits me perfectly regarding how I need to stop making excuses and use my experiences and take action. Also, knowing I have overcome many obstacles has made me stronger and increased my ability to push forward. I believe I can better educate myself while helping others in the process. Helping others is the best way for me to learn the most about myself and guide me to the right path. I watched ahead and the video for the next assignment, "The Extra Mile" (Hoyt, 2008), is a perfect example of how helping others helps you find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Tradition Of The Century Viking Wars 1. Many of the Air Force's customs, traditions, and procedures are traceable to the earliest warriors. The dining–in is one such military tradition that has its roots in the distant past. The pre–Christian Roman Legions probably began the dining–in tradition. Roman military commanders frequently held great feasts to honor individuals and military units. These get–togethers were victory celebrations where past feats were remembered and loot of new conquests paraded. The second century Viking war lords stylized the format of the victory feast. With the exception of the lookout, or watch, the entire clan attended these celebrations. Feats of strength and skill were performed to entertain the members and guests. The leader took his place at the head of the table, with all others to his right and left in descending order of rank. 2. The dining–in custom was transplanted to ancient England by Roman and Viking warriors, and King Arthur 's Knights of the Round Table practiced a form of dining–in in the sixth century. The tradition eventually spread to non–military groups, such as the Saxon nobles of the tenth century and the medieval monasteries. The monks, who followed a more rigid regimen, had their form of dining–in as an integral part of monastic life. The clergy spread the custom to the academies and universities. The British officer corps, with many graduates of these centers of learning, carried the tradition back to military units. The dining–in became increasingly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Explain Why I Want To Join The Airforce When I am older I want to join the Airforce because when I was four my oldest brother left to go to the Airforce. I have always been very active and that is an important skill in the Airforce. I've always wanted to work in an airplane. I don't want to be a pilot, but I want to be a load master. A load master is someone who has to load all the supplies and calculate the mass and weight of each occupant and supply box to make sure the planee can carry it. The necessary training is a very rigorous training schedule to continue being in shape and ready. The education varies, but for every cadet (resident of the Academy) there is a four year education scale. Any occupant that joins can grow in the ranks. If someone goes through the academy, they will join the force as an Airman or an officer. If someone goes through boot camp, they'll be an Airman basic. It will be hard work and college won't be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many strong characteristics that the academy is looking for. A few are, patience and determination because it will be hard and long. Also, it is hard work so you will have to break yourself in order to be able to be strong. Having common sense is very important, even if it seems not important. My brother went through boot camp and not the academy, however he has lived very many different places. The United States Air Force Academy Essay On Nov 2013, the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) awarded the contract to "modernize" its existing custom developed application Cadet Administrative Management Information System (CAMIS) II to the Solers Corporation (Solers Corporation, 2016). CAMIS was developed over several years and began to encompass support for many disparate business processes at the Academy, but primarily served as a Student Information/Management System. Teenagers have been the ideal possibility for these occupations, not just on the grounds that they are less lavish to procure than grown–ups, additionally in light of the fact that their young inability makes them simpler to control. Another part of strong throughput is strict regulation at fast food eateries. Organizations force strict guidelines on how an errand is to be performed and make undertakings so they require as meager aptitude as could be allowed. Airey Essay Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy Introduction There are many types of leaders not only in the military, but also in every civilian company around the world. We rarely see a leader who possesses both vision and an ethical style of leadership; however, CMSgt Paul W. Airey, the first Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, was this type of leader. Throughout this paper I will discuss his ability to be both a visionary and ethical leader, which resulted in CMSgt Airey being labeled a "legend" (LaGrone, 2009, p.2). He was described by the former Chief of Staff, General Norton Schwartz as an "Airman's Airman and "one of the true pioneers of the service" (LaGrone, 2009, p.2). He realized that the promotion system was broken and he set his sites on developing a system that would improve promotion opportunities for every Airman (Lucas, 1997). Many would say that this was the most influential contribution he made during his tenure. CMSgt Airey led a team from several career fields. He understood and used the "Z" process according to Thomas N. Barnes Center (2012a) "team building" when he met with his team (p.6–8). The teams use and understanding according to Thomas N. Barnes Center (2012a) "change management" resulted in the the development of the Weighted Airman Promotion System (WAPS) (p.17–19) (Lucas, 1997). Chief Airey was quoted as saying "the end result was a promotion system which today is still in effect and is by far the fairest, most equitable enlisted promotion system of any of the armed forces"(Lucas, 1997, p3). Furthermore, CMSgt Airey understood that you could not have vision if you sat behind a desk and because of this he traveled to many bases throughout his tenure. • 31. Stewardship Of The Army Profession Essay Stewardship of the Army Profession is the last of the Five Essential Characteristics of the Army Profession, but in terms of importance, it is just as, if not more important than the other four. The United States Army's ADRP–1, or Army Doctrinal Reference Publication 1, even defines stewardship as "the responsibility of Army professionals to ensure the profession maintains its five essential characteristics now and into the future". Such importance is placed on this characteristic because Stewardship of the Army Profession is the one that ensures the other four are maintained. I sought out the definition of stewardship because despite having spent almost three and a half years and West Point, I was not entirely sure what the doctrine behind Stewardship was. In doing this, I felt like I was better prepared for both this paper and ensuring that the corrections I made were stewarding the profession. With this newly acquired knowledge, I set out to make my corrections. My first correction for this assignment came from doing my job as First Sergeant for my company. The correction involved three different cadets, Cadet Private Michael Avallone, Cadet Private Brian Brooks, and Cadet Private Riley Eck. What if Army bombers could take off an aircraft carrier? Low tried his idea on Admiral King. King thought the idea had potential so he sent it on to Captain Donald Duncan to turn his plan into fact. This he did, and the Tokyo Raid became fact instead of fiction. The first step in the plan was finding a leader. General Arnold requested Lieutenant Colonel James Dolittle as the man to select the plane and the men for the mission. Dolittle accepted the challenge without hesitation. Arnold let him know in no uncertain terms that he was to be a planner not a pilot. As Doolittle went to work on the project, he saw a lot of problems. First of all, carrier landings were impossible for twin engine bombers. Next, the total air trip was eleven hundred miles. The closest landing area would be in Russia, but Joseph Stalin would not let them land there because he didn't want to be invaded by Japan since he already had his hands full with the Germans. Fortunately, China said it was all right to land there but they said it reluctantly. With these considerations and others, Doolittle determined that the chances of the mission succeeding was fifty–fifty. Despite the odds, the decision was made to begin the project. He calls Garcia into his office and asks him what was wrong. Garcia's mannerisms and clear disrespect were readily apparent. After hearing a gut wrenching story of Garcia requesting leave through the chain of command to return to the states for his Grandmothers funeral and being denied because he was too important to the team to let go, then a subsequent request for leave, after his younger brother was murdered, again being denied for the same reason, and the emotional anguish that Garcia was going through Captain Franks was deeply moved. Gender inequality has always been a issue for women, even today many women are a victim of inequality. It was said that women are more fragile than men; males are stronger and able to do more than females. In some things, women weren't allowed to partake in physical activities such as combat, field artillery, and etc. Women normally worked with logistic and as nurses. The qualifications for men and women are very similar, but it has its difference; most women work with air defense artillery, nursing, logistic, and etc. While most men work in combat, field artillery, mechanics, and etc. Out of generals and admirals, 7.1% are women, out of those women 46% were in the medical field. On Tuesday, October 21, 1997, the United States government dedicated a new memorial at the Arlington War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia. Named the Women in Military Service for America Memorial , it was the first national monument of its kind that recognized those who fought and died in the protection of their country. Women have faced two fights when it came to the Armed Services, the first being the right and honor of serving their country and secondly on the battlefield itself. While women are now capable of being both enlisted personnel and officers in the military, a new question arises – should the role of women in the military finally be expanded to allow them to fight for their country in direct combat? Many experts argue that when it comes to women in the military, there are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Air Force Diversity Essay WASHINGTON – The senior leadership of the Air Force remains largely white and male despite an emphasis on diversity in the service and throughout the military, according to data and interviews with service leaders. The Air Force has 280 generals, but just 18 of them belong to minority groups. That includes two Hispanic officers, or less than 1% of the total. The 13 African–American generals make up 4% of the Air Force's general officer corps. The Pentagon's other branches, including the Army, share the same struggle to diversify their forces, a priority of Defense Secretary Ashton Carter. A key concern for the Army resides in the lack of minority officers leading its combat battalions and brigades. That's where lieutenant colonels and colonels ... It also outlined several initiatives aimed at expanding the ranks of women and minorities in the Air Force. "This approach is necessary because our increasingly diverse citizenry places a special trust in us and we must keep that trust by ensuring our Air Force is representative of the best of the populace from which we draw our considerable strength," the memo says. Army commanders: White men lead a diverse force Beyond better representing the United States, the Air Force views diversity as necessary for effectiveness. It loses out on talented minorities and women when they're underrepresented, said Chevalier Cleaves, the Air Force director of diversity and inclusion and a retired KC–135 tanker pilot. "Diversity and inclusion are national security imperatives," Cleaves said. "So we must succeed. There is no second place for us. Colorado springs at an elevation of 6,035ft, is a city in Colorado at the eastern foot of the Rocky Mountains. Colorado Springs is the second most populous city in Colorado after Denver. As the population increases it becomes necessary to strengthen and increase the Colorado Springs Police Department. Increasing the number of patrolmen and adding more unmarked patrol cars would make our already strong police department even stronger. Adding more patrolmen should help make the police department stronger for a few reasons. Although this quote is not well– known or famous, it is one that I can completely relate to in my life. In order to change, I need an atmosphere that will challenge every aspect of my life. I believe the Air Force Academy offers me this challenge for two main reasons: they are a highly competitive university, and, I will have the opportunity to serve in the United States military. The first major reason I wish to attend the Air Force Academy is the school itself. The school offers many majors that I am interested in which include engineering and medicine. I can also envision myself being a pilot and there is no better school to attend for that than the Air Force Academy. Another great thing about the school is the campus. The campus is located around mountains where there are great places to do outdoor activitiessuch as hiking and fishing. Poore Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy Class 15–C 7 April 2015 Instructor: SMSgt Stephen Kramer General Billy Mitchell "Guilty of Insubordination!" This was the verdict in the court martial of General William "Billy" Mitchell. General Mitchell spent his adult life pursuing his ideal of a separate Air Service recognized as a dominant force in military capabilities, but his actions in pursuit of his beliefs undermined military leadership at the time. General Billy Mitchell was a Visionary Leader but his decisions also made him an Unethical Leader. To solidify this claim, we will examine how General Mitchell's forward thinking and refusal to accept the status quo led to the creation of the modern Air Force, how his tactics to realize his vision were not ethical, and how his visionary, but unethical leadership traits and behaviors are relevant to examples of my own leadership behaviors. Visionary Leader General Mitchell was a Visionary Leader who recognized the US military must include air power as a dominant role in its Operational Doctrine in order to successfully prosecute and decisively win future wars. According to Jeffers (2005), US Operational Doctrine dictated the US Navy Fleet was the key to winning wars prior to World War I. While in command of all 1,481 American and Allied airplanes in France during World War I, General Mitchell successfully created and employed his air ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, from my opinion, I will discus whether employees are satisfied with the current reward system and what I would do to improve the current system to make more effective. Therefore, their flight chiefs will look at the employee's uniforms, dress appearance, hygiene, and work performance to evaluate who will get an extra day off. This type of reward systems has worked very well within the unit; it has worked so well that the operations section is now rotating every Friday off for each employee, so that every person that works in operations will get one Friday off a month. This fringe benefit has boosted flight work; customer service throughout the Air Force Academy, increase work production in the office and the quality of work has improved. Personally, I believe in both TA and extra time off without being charged for leave. TA has proven to help people meet their dreams in life with completing a college degree. Military members that really want to go to college regardless of who is paying for the bill will attend and complete the degree program. Younger members of the 10th SFS need to realize that nothing come free in life and what's worth working hard for regardless of the costs is worth having. The purpose of this background paper is to provide a possible solution to maximize coalition partnerships to provide to the AFSNCOA Commandant and other Strategic Leaders from across the force. The problem we will tackle is that "the Air Force does not do enough to get feedback on multinational operations from the field." To accomplish this mission, we will bolster the Air Force Culture and Language Center (AFCLC) in order to create a feedback loop for leaders in the field to apply cultural best practices and avoid friction points during ongoing coalition missions. We used the first six steps of the 8 Step Problem Solving Model as the primary tool to build the framework for our proposal. 2. To begin, we identified a problem related to maximizing coalition partnerships and explained the current state of the issue and its impact on coalition missions and the Air Force. a. To identify the problem, we first performed a SWOT Analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) to help clarify and validate the problem. During SWOT Analysis we identified that the United States brings many things to all coalitions its involved in. The U.S. brings many resources, modern capabilities, and effective leadership through its strong chains of command. Though we have many weaknesses, the strongest we identified as it relates to coalition partnerships is ethnocentricity at all levels. This is even prevalent in the State–USAID Joint ...
