Fourth Amendments And Surveillance Cameras In Schools
Security cameras and surveillance systems have become ubiquitous in many states. Whereas before
the 21th century, it may be only found in banks, police stations, and hospitals. The Fourth
Amendment states, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and
effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall
issue, but upon probable cause...". Citizens fear that the Fourth Amendment is being violated due to
the use of security cameras in educational facilities. Surveillance cameras are legally not allowed to
be in bathrooms, locker rooms, and school classes, however, students still feel their privacy is being
exploited. Security cameras have negatively and positively affected our society through the social/
cultural, historical, and economical aspects of a citizen's life. Educational facilities have doubled
down on security by adding security cameras in hallways, lunchrooms, and outside the class rooms,
for the safety and the hope that students will act twice on illegal decisions that they may make.
Other education facilities install security cameras for education purposes, with the hope that the
students grade point average will skyrocket, and students will be more engaged during school.
These accusations stated have been tested and proven guilty by The School Crime Supplement to
the National Crime Victimization and the School Survey on Crime and Safety. These organizations

Invention Of The Camera And How It Revolutionized History
The Invention of the Camera and How it Revolutionized History Sense the invention of the camera
in 1826 photography has been used to document everything from family portraits, social injustice,
sporting events, world news, expressions of joy and sorrow, and hundreds of monumental moments.
The camera has given man the power to reveal the truth visually. Throughout history photographs
have made enormous impacts on social consciousness and ultimately shaped public opinion on
many pressing issues in society. Although photography is often considered a casual pastime, the
invention of the camera has contributed to many aspects of history, science, and other important
pieces of todays world.
Before the invention of the camera, news traveled through word of mouth, writing, telegrams, and
other forms of communication. Often times important moments were depicted through paintings,
and drawings. Unfortunately, because of opinion and misinterpretation, many of those moments, had
been depicted incorrectly. Take, for example the Boston Massacre which took place in the late
1700's before the invention of the camera. In order to inform people of what is now known as the
shot heard around the world, Paul Revere, a famous American revolutionist made an engraving of
the scene.
People are accustomed to trusting the accuracy of historic documents, however the composition of
this the engraving contains several inaccuracies that serious researchers should be aware of. In Fact

George Eastman Biography
George Eastman Kodak Camera
George Eastman was many things. He left a great legacy for himself and established an amazing
foundation for the Kodak Camera. Before starting any type of work in any field, he went to public
school for seven years. Public education is where he got the foundational education for his later
camera invention. He didn't begin his camera work until much later in life.
In his early working years, he was well established in an insurance office, a book office, and studied
scientific books for his own knowledge. These early jobs didn't pay well, however, they allowed
him to earn a living to support his family before becoming extremely wealthy. Eastman sacrificed
many things in his early life including family opportunities, ... Show more content on

Although many didn't believe there was one person in his life that did and that came from his
business work. The business man that he worked for at a young age saw his full potential and
believed that whatever he put his mind too he could accomplish. "While he was still working for the
bank in Rochester, New York, Eastman became seriously interested in photography" (source 3). He
was only able to be interested in new things because someone else believed in him. Starting small
Eastman decided to open his own business, so that he could learn how to run a company and to
create a good reputation for himself without people making opinions without knowing anything
about him.
After creating a steady business and allowing for people to learn his true potential he was able to
begin early research work. "The clerical work at the insurance office did not absorb all of young
Eastman's energies, as his trips to Niagara Falls, Boston, Maine, and Chicago indicate"
(source 1). The early work that he began didn't turn out as well as it could have, however because he
now had the support of the surrounding people he was able to get through

Camera Obscura Research Paper
I choose to do my experiential project on the camera obscura which essentially displays an image
onto a wall or other surface to be viewed. The word "camera obscura" comes from the Latin term
that means "dark chamber" which came from the practice of creating dark rooms that had a small
pinhole that allowed light to enter and project an image from the other side of the pinhole into the
room. The earliest record of a camera obscura comes from Mo Ti, a Chinese philosopher around 400
BCE where he explained the basic concepts of the pinhole camera before Aristotle mentioned this
phenomenon in Problems Book–XV around 384–322 BCE. The first instance the pinhole camera
was described with the use of being an instrument was when Ibn al–Haitham of ... Show more

I used one of the example sources for step by step instructions and a materials list. To attempt this
task I gathered five black poster boards, a couple of rolls of duct tape, a flashlight, scissors, different
x–acto knifes, and the camera on my phone to document the project. I covered my window with the
poster boards and used the duct tape to hold the boards to darken my room as much as possible. I
then cut a hole for the lens of the flashlight to be attached to the poster boards and darkened the rest
of the room to get the full effect. To my surprise it did not reflect the view outside of my window
rather it just vaguely displayed the color of the sky on some of the walls. With this disappointment I
researched some more and took the flashlight lens off the poster board and made a smaller hole with
the lens. This modification did not have change the effect that displayed on the other walls. While
my attempt at this project did not gather any results it was an interesting experiment with the
physics of light. If I were to attempt this project again I would try it with of a room that only had
one window, which would hopefully make it easier to completely darken the room, and a room that
also had something directly in front of the window unlike my room which has a vista view but
nothing directly outside the room. While this project was a failure in terms of re creating

What 's Important And Capture The Good Times?
I.Intro
A.Attention Getter: How many of you like to focus on what's important? "Life is like a Camera. You
focus on what's important and capture the good times. Develop from the negative and if things don't
work out take another shot." – Unknown Author
B.Revealed Object and Speaker Credibility: A camera represents many things in the photography
culture and, as someone who doesn't consider themselves a photographer but rather a hobbyist
photographer, I think it's important that people be educated about this creative culture.
C.Thesis: By learning more about a camera, you will have a greater understanding of the
photography culture.
D.Preview of Main Points: First, I will discuss the types of cameras there are, how it is significant,
and how it promotes creativity in the photography culture. Then, I will discuss how I identify with
both this culture, and the camera.
II. Body
A.Main Point 1: There are many types of cameras and they are a symbol of the Photography culture.
1.Sub–point 1: Cameras have been around since the 1500s. The first type of camera invented was
the pinhole camera, invented by Alhazen (Al–Haytham). Since the culture combines different types
of cameras, each type of camera still has significance. Originally, the first camera invented was the

Photography And Its Impact On Photography
Photography is an art that has been around for over a century. Throughout the years, photography
has grown rapidly. It is now very popular throughout the world. There are hundreds of careers and
jobs in photography. It is also a growing hobby, and for some people, it is their life. As time goes on,
it will just grow in it's popularity. Photography is a method of recording images by the action of
light on a sensitive material. So basically, it is capturing images with a camera. This is a wonderful
process that thousands of people use every day, whether it's to make money or just to have fun.
The history of photography is very complex. It was not necessarily just one thing, or one person,
that made it all. Instead, it took a series of people, throughout time, to develop and form
photography into what it is today. Even today, (and)it's still growing. The very first photograph was
produced by Joseph Nicephore Niepce. It's called, "View from the Window at Le Gras." Of course it
was black and white, as all pictures originally were. In 1827, Joseph Nicephore Niepce produced
this image using a camera obscura, which was one of the very first cameras. Before Niepce figured
this out, people just used the camera obscura for viewing or drawing purposes, not for taking
photographs. Louis Daguerre is another important person in photography's history. In 1829, he
began a partnership with Niepce, and together they further developed photography even more. After
Niepce died, Daguerre developed

Introduced in the year of 1952, the "Brownie 127" camera was created in England by Eastman
Kodak's Kodak Ltd. With a simple design, and affordable price for the customers and a catchy
slogan "You push the button, we do the rest," the Brownie became popular for amateur photography.
This plastic box camera shoots eight 4x6 cm pictures on a 127 film. A 127 film is a rollfilm created
for still photography. From the first release of the "Brownie 127", over a million sold. The first
version of the Brownie was made available to the public in February 1900. This camera was a
simple cardboard box camera with a lens that took 2 1/4 inch pictures on roll film. At the time this
camera made it affordable to everyone for the price of one dollar. This camera

With the invention the gelatin dry plate silver bromide process by Richard Leach Maddox, negatives
did not have to be developed immediately (Greenspun, 2007). This was an important discovery
since up until then the capture image had to be processed instantly. George Eastman invented the
Kodak camera. For $22.00, an amateur could purchase a camera with enough film for 100 shots
(Bellis). After use, it was sent back to the company, which then processed the film. The ad slogan
read, "You press the button, we do the rest." A year later, the delicate paper film was changed to a
plastic base, so that photographers could do their own processing (Bellis). Eastman's first simple
camera in 1888 was a wooden, light–tight box a simple lens and shutter that was factory–filled with
film. The photographer pushed a button to produce a negative (Digital Shutter Mania , 2009). Once
the film was used up, the photographer mailed with the filmed still in it to the Kodak factory where
the film was removed from the camera, processed, and printed. The camera was then reloaded with
the film and returned. This development led to another key invention, the motion picture camera by
Thomas Edison in 1891 (Bellis). Over almost 170 years, the camera has been continually developed

The Pros And Cons Of Police Body Cameras
Police body cameras are becoming more common in major cities around the us, and are meant to
lower aggression and complaints brought upon the department's. Though the cameras are only
becoming a big topic there have been many studies and debates in whether or not the cameras
should be mandatory for all departments. The main and most talked about disadvantage of the
cameras is the questions it raises about privacy of cops and the public. On the other hand one of the
upsides are how much they will help in court cases by lowering costs and time spent. When in court
the cameras can either show is it is a case of police brutality or if the cop handled the situation
properly. The topic of police brutality has come up throughout recent history and the problem is
someone is always lying and with cameras you can get a first hand point of view in every case. This
is important because many people view the idea of police body cameras as a way to solve ... Show

If a person wants to prove that body cameras are ineffective they can just point out all the things that
the backers missed and poke at the little mistake in the ideas that a backer would have. This would
include pointing out the negative in a study just to show that it is not always for the better and also
that there hasn't been enough studies done to completely know the full effect on the whole country.
One of the main weaknesses in the body cameras are they do invade some people's privacy and it
could be seen as a big problem and something that cannot be fixed without getting rid of the
cameras. Then some people might not say it would work at all because of they think that how the
officers have acted in the past and used how well it worked for them.(should

The Impact Of Photography On Digital Photography
Photography is a word derived from the Greek words, photos meaning "light" and graphein meaning
"to draw" (History of Photography). The word was first used by the scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel
in 1839 (History of Photography and the Camera). It is a method of recording images by the action
of light, or related radiation, on a sensitive material. The end of the 19th century was an important
time in camera history. Shutters were incorporated into cameras, the size of the devices decreased
and these moments set the stage for a new, ever–changing century of innovation in digital
photography (From Shutters to DSLR). Digital camera technology was born out of the spy satellite
program designed to reduce the difficulties of collecting photographic data from cameras in orbit
(From Shutters to DSLR). From these early designs, digital cameras increased in resolution and
decreased in size and cost until they gradually became practical for widespread consumer use.
Following many years of steady development, Nikon has been contributed to incredible innovations
as a leading company in digital camera industry.
The first pinhole camera was invented by Alhazen, a great authority on optics in the Middle Ages
who lived around 1000AD, and it was able to explain why the images were upside down (History of
Photography and the Camera). The first practical process of photography was performed in 1829,

Essay about History of Photography
Since its inception, photography has been used to capture moments in time all around the world.
This wonderful technology has existed since ancient times, and has only improved in recent history,
changing society in the process.
While we think of photography as a fairly modern invention, that is simply not true. In fact, there
are documents on the underlying principle behind photography dating back to as early as the Fifth
Century, B.C. The first recorded instance of a photographic image was found in 5th Century China.
During that time, Chinese philosopher and scholar Mo–Ti described how light passing through a
pinhole into a dark room created an inverted, full color image on the opposite wall. Mo–Ti the room

The oldest surviving photogravure taken by Niepce dates back to 1827. This photo, titled "View
through a window in Gras" took over eight hours of exposure to create, and even then, the image
that was created was blurry and monochrome. After Niepce's death, his business partner, French
painter Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre continued to work on improving image quality and reducing
exposure time. Eventually, Daguerre discovered a method that involved exposing the metal plate to
mercury fumes. This method became known as the "daguerreotype." Over the next several decades
photography continued to improve, bringing it closer and closer to the art and science we know
today.
While the original Daguerreotype started a massive surge on photography, two later inventions
turned photography social phenomenon that became ingrained in our lives today. The first of these
inventions is called the "calotype" process. invented in 1839 by William Henry Fox Talbot this
method of photography involved exposing chemically treated paper, producing a "negative" that
could be redeveloped. This allow for multiple copies of the same image to be printed, and is the
predecessor to modern film photography. The next major breakthrough in the art of photography
was the portable camera. Before its inception, most photos were taken using a large, cumbersome
device that worked as a camera and darkroom for developing glass plates coated with a sticky
collodion solution. (film photography was

What is Photography
Photography is seeing what is invisible, capturing the moments that last a lifetime. It can hold all the
mystery of the world in a single picture. It is a visual diary, containing the secrets of the earth. This
great pastime is used all around the world. The good, the bad, and the ugly makes up photography.
Anyone can enjoy photography including you. There are many different parts in photography such
as its history and equipment. There are many types of photography as well. Photography in today's
society is called the killer fine art. Photography was invented around the 1820s. It is now the most
growing hobby in the world. The first camera created is called the Camera Obscura. The Camera
Obscura was used during the 13th – 14th centuries. It was a dark closed box–shaped space with a
hole on one side. The Camera Obsurca got its name from the Latin word "Dark Room". The man
behind the camera was Joseph Nicephore. Other important men in photography history include
Alfred Stieglitz (who changed photography into art) and Henri Carrtier–Bresson (the father of
photojournalism). The next major camera movement was film cameras. These cameras came out in
the early 1900s. This movement gave the Granddaddy camera its name. The Granddaddy camera is
also known as a 35 mm (millimeter) point and shoot. There were many issues with film cameras.
With a film camera, you could not scan an image without it possibly getting destroyed. Also with a

Photography: Its Evolution and Effects on the World Essay
One of the universal languages of the world may be a one that would not normally come to mind,

different materials that were used, the ways to develop a picture, a camera's size and portability, and
how the camera has advanced in its technology and physical features. Photography also has a huge

partner died in 1833. Daguerre moved on develop the notion of the modern day dark room, a room

world as the daguerreotype. The daguerreotype immediately became famous. It used a "highly
polished surface of silver that was plated on a copper sheet." The process reduced the exposure time
from a rather lengthy time of eight hours. The image that was produced was extremely detailed and
exciting to look at, but despite its popularity, the daguerreotype was in fact a technological dead
end, as there was no way for the photographs to be duplicated from a single negative.
In June of 1840, an English scientist named William Henry Fox Talbot announced a technique that
used highly light–sensitive paper. First, after exposure, the paper would appear completely blank. To
make the image visible, silver iodide had to be used. Talbot dubbed his invention a collotype, which,
when translated, means "beautiful impression". By placing the fully developed paper negative

The Influence Of Photography On American Culture
"Art is not to be found by touring to Egypt, China, or Peru; if you cannot find it at your own door,
you will never find it." – Ralph Waldo Emerson . Although many might think that it is a waste of
time and money, photography is a great hobby that people should try. However, even if someone has
different opinions, they must consider that photography is steadily on its way to becoming a
worldwide everyday use, and is already part of the American culture. Who has contributed to the
making of the modern camera in earlier times? In ancient times, at approximately 5th century B.C.,

compound . J. Schulze mixed chalk, nitric acid, and silver in a flask, and then noticed how the
mixture darkened on the side exposed to the most light, accidentally creating the first photographic
compound. Later, in 1800, Thomas Wedgewood made what he called "sun pictures" by placing
objects on a piece of leather treated with silver nitrate, which were the first photographs, although
they faded and deteriorated if exposed to much light. In 1816, Nicéphore Niépce combined the
photosensitive paper with the camera obscura, which after multiple tries and multiple years, created
a permanent image on the paper. In 1834, Henry Fox Talbot created a permanent image using paper
soaked in silver chloride and fixed with a salt solution, which was an image negative. Talbot could
make a positive image by contact printing the image onto another sheet of paper . There were many
advancements to the photosensitive paper, as it started to be explored by more and more scientists

Why Do Police Surveillance Cameras Necessary?
Today 's society, where police presences and force is a common necessity for citizens to feel secure
and safe while being in public, causes a controversial debate to surface; whether police surveillance
cameras are a necessary tool in public safety or are the police surveillance cameras a violation of
citizens ' rights and civil liberties. An abundance of individuals believe that the installation of police
surveillance cameras, also know as, CCTV (closed circuit television), does not infringe on their civil
liberties, due to no specific mentioning of Americans having the right to privacy in the Constitution
of United States. However, the believers of police CCTV do not realize that the manner in which
public officials use information obtained by CCTV may violate their civil liberties. Whether these
cameras cause citizens to sacrifice their civil liberties should not be the only deciding factor in
whether police CCTV should be enforced in public areas, e.g. public parks and city streets. There
are other components that should be considered before the debate of CCTV violating American 's
civil liberties; for example, effectiveness of police surveillance cameras, the cost and who will be
funding the installation, maintenance and wages of police monitoring the cameras. These three
factors alone are reason enough to oppose the installation and use of police surveillance cameras.
Police surveillance cameras are ineffective at deterring crime. CCTV can only prevent crimes

City Of God Cinematography Essay
The used of cinematography and camera movement is hands down one of the most, if not the most
important thing of a good film. I believe that they are two of the things that make for a great film.
So when asked to compare a scene from Raising Arizona and City of God, I had to choose two of
my most iconic scenes in film history, the chicken chase from City of God and the diaper heist from
Raising Arizona. In two of the most iconic scenes in movie history, it is only natural that a slew of
camera techniques are used to tell the story of each particular scene, most of which are some of the
same methods. One of the most noticeable parallels between the films is the camera lens and the use
of shallow focus. Shallow focus is the main source of camera ... Show more content on

While the use of shallow focus is something that is conspicuous throughout both of the scenes,
Raising Arizona also feature a zoom shot when the camera focus switches subjects to the diaper
package that has been dropped. A portion of framing is also a difference within each scene, though
the framing is mostly level, Raising Arizona also uses a canted framing when shooting the running
within the street. A high angle of framing is used in City of God, during the shooting scene. This is
used to display more people on the screen and heighten the sense of panic. Crane shot and whip pan
are also used in the scene of City of God, given the amount of individuals in that scene; whip pan is
used quite a bit to get everyone in the shot. A crane is used at the beginning for parts such as
walking down stairs. In City of God, a difference in speed rate is also a noticeable variance among
the scenes. While all of these are slight differences, the most obvious deviations in technique are the
camera movement. For Raising Arizona, the use of tracking shot and tilt are used specifically for the
running scenes. While, in City of God, almost the entire scene is shot using a Steadicam, noted by
the tremulousness of the camera during all of the moving

Rise of Photography in the World of Art Essay
The rise of photography began in the early 1830's in France, and wasn't very popular as most artists
preferred a paintbrush and canvas to a new contraption that wasn't popular and wasn't manufactured
locally or globally yet and that was fairly expensive to try to produce, and since this time it has been
debated if photography deserves its place in the art world. Through the late 1800's and the early
1900's it grew in popularity and throughout time photography went from being badly received to a
new form of art though people around the world still debate if it is indeed "art". Photography has a

Similarities Between King George Vi And Erin Brockovich
The essence of a respectable biopic lies in its ability to captivate an audience while providing
educational value. The biopic also allows the audience to experience the film from the protagonist's
point of view, thereby making an impact on them. Examples of these types of films include The
King's Speech and Erin Brockovich. Both films portray iconic protagonists innovatively, however, it
can be said that the representation of the biopic is more effective in the characterisation of King
George VI, in The King's Speech.
The personal evolution of King George VI is expertly captured through the camera angles used in
the film. At the beginning of the film, King George is captured using mainly high angled camera
shots. This alludes to King George's perceptions of himself and his low self–confidence. As the film
progresses, more low angled and eye–level camera shots are used, to portray King George's
newfound confidence. The progression of camera angles used contributes to the gradual
development of his character. In Erin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

through King George VI. In Erin Brockovich, the protagonist voices her views and opinions
strongly and confidently. This portrays her as a strong and bold character, however, the director is
unable to place sufficient emphasis on important statements, as the way in which Brockovich
communicates remains constant throughout the film. The audience quickly adapts to Brockovich's
powerful character and bold attitude, therefore her powerful statements aren't given enough
attention and do not make as big of an impact on the audience as King George's (VI)

Photography: Annotated Bibliography Essay
Practiced by thousands who shared no common tradition or training from the earliest days of taking
photos, the first photographers were disciplined and united by no academy or guild, who considered
their medium variously as a trade, a science, an art, or an entertainment, and who often were
unaware of each other's work. Exactly as it sounds photography means photo–graphing. The word
photography comes from two Greek words, photo, or "light", and graphos, or drawing and from the
start of photography; the history of the aforementioned has been debated. The idea of taking pictures
started some thirty–one thousand years ago when strikingly sophisticated images of bears,
rhinoceroses, bison, horses and many other types of creators were ... Show more content on

Certain mile stones in taking pictures during the first two decades of photography were marked by
rapid commercialization and many photographers bowed to the commerciality and uninspired
demands of their customers, however there were those who were separating themselves from the
bustling photographic factories and portrait studios and instead immersed themselves into a new
class of "artist" by using the camera to express creative photographic visions. Whether it was used
in society, documentation, or art the camera was obviously used, and are used to this day.
"It is perhaps worth stating the obvious; the camera is central to our understanding of
photography."– John Szarkowski.² The first (daguerreotype) cameras did not only weigh over 100
pounds but were expensive as well. A large sum of 400 francs, equal to six months' salary for a
skilled worker was needed to purchase a daguerreotype, and they also had to be experienced with
the chemical process to develop their photos. Photographers where given more freedom to move out
of the portrait studio and explore the world around them through photography when William Henry
Fox Talbot developed the collotype and "wet plate" technique in England during 1841. The
advantage of using the collotype process was that you could produce a paper negative which could
be used to make numerous prints on specially treated paper.

Eyes On The Prize Analysis
The documentary Eyes on the Prize offers beautiful and impactful artistic interpretations to instill
emotion and passion onto the viewer. The director carefully and deliberately included different
choices in the documentary to evoke emotions through the images and videos they show.
Documentaries matter so much (and now more than ever) because they show the world the truth
about the past and what is currently happening. As fortunate US citizens living in 2018, we tend to
forget the tragedies currently happening in the world, and we often overlook the freedoms we
currently have–forgetting that a brave soul fought continuously for our freedom today.
Documentaries are especially important because they remind us of such things. educate us on the
past, warn to not to repeat the past, and most importantly, to stand up when similar things do
happen. Watching documentaries is a keen reminder of what it means to struggle for freedom and
justice and will hopefully, in turn, make the viewer more compassionate. ... Show more content on

This creates a sense of reality for the viewer, reminding that history is still a prevalent part in the

in a specific event, but also give insight how powerful the event was, bring emotion behind the

George Eastman Research Paper
George Eastman is an influential and well–known entrepreneur and photographic enthusiast. The
household name and the name of his legacy, Kodak, is familiar and accepted within both the art and
professional world. Eastman's work with the camera process and development of the flexible film
we know today transformed the realm of art and photography, making it easier and allowing regular
people the chance to use this form of art in their everyday lives. As Eastman is reforming the art
world, his modification of the photographic process leads him to create a business out of it and by
doing so he impacted how the professionals did business. By turning photography into something to

When he created his dry–plate coating machine, Eastman knew he had something. His invention,
the first of its kind was unique in many ways. In 1888 the original Kodak sold for $25 loaded with a
roll of film and included a leather carrying case. "Unlike earlier cameras that used a glass–plate
negative for each exposure, the Kodak came preloaded with a 100–exposure roll of flexible film"
(Original Kodak Camera). When the consumer was finished with their roll of film, they mailed the
whole camera back to the factory to have the film developed and printed at a cost of $10. The
camera was returned with negatives and mounted prints along with a new roll of film. Kodak
advertisements from 1888 stated that any amateur could "finish his own pictures" and spare film
rolls were sold for $2. According to the National Museum of American History, Eastman's first
camera, The Kodak, created pictures that were distinctly unique with the recognizable circular
snapshots that defined a new style of photography that was informal, fun, and personal (Original
Kodak Camera). The design of the original Kodak had a special barrel shutter that was set by
pulling up a string on top of the camera and operated by pushing a button on the side of the camera.
This is where Kodak's famous line "you press the button, we do the rest" comes from. After the
picture is taken, a key at the top of the camera was used to wind

The instant the film began I was captured unto a moment of imagination as the melodic piano

Julius Caesar once stated "I came, I saw, I conquered". History has always been written by those
that conquer. Hence, wouldn't that mean that history isn't always entirely accurate? To answer your
question; most–likely, as over many years history becomes distorted and evolves into nothing but
legend. The Imitation Game can be classed as many different things, a drama film, a thriller, a war
film, a touching masterpiece. But in terms of a historical film, this movie only provides a sense of
escapism due to its factual inaccuracies. I finish by saying that although The Imitation Game is a
2014 academy award winning cinematic masterpiece. I would say that it certainly provides a sense
of escapism and dull–witted humor, while at the same time making room for its intellectual

Wearable Camera History
Abstract This report on innovative technology is based on wearable camera technology. I used two
internet sites to help me find out the history and how these wearable cameras work. I used
magazines, newspapers and journals to show how different types of wearable cameras are being
used today and the great impacts they have had in our society. In several articles I found that the
police departments in different states use several brands of wearable cameras. Nutritionists use these
cameras to help people keep an accurate log of the food intake they are consuming. Care givers and
nurses are wearing the cameras in their field to help track dementia patients. They record patients to
show types of behaviors they displayed and then use the footage to help with the difficult behaviors.
Surgeons use a Go Pro Hero 4 to record eye repair surgeries from a surgeon's point of view and use
it as a teaching tool. Aaron Chase a professional mountain biker, and Felix Baumgartner, a record
breaker sky diver, use Go Pro cameras to record their adventures. History John Logie Baird made

Police Body Cameras History
The debatable topic of police body cameras has an extensive history to it. There has been a demand
for more police surveillance since the civil rights movement, but within the past six years the
demand for the new technology of body cameras has grown far greater than before. A popular
example of this is the death of Walter Scott by police officer Michael Slager. Slager said in his
report that he had to shoot Scott because Scott had obtained his taser and was a danger to him,
however a bystander released footage showing that Slager put his taser near Scott after he and Scott
had a struggle, then unnecessarily shot Scott in the back eight times ("Police Body Cameras"). This

Factors Affecting Demand, Supply, and Prices of Digital Cameras
There are several factors that influence the demand and supply of digital cameras. The factors that
cause a change in demand and those that cause a change in supply are somewhat different but
related. A slight change in one of these factors results in change in the supply of the digital cameras.
The first factor that affects the supply of digital cameras is the price. As a general rule, the price and
the supply of any product have a direct relationship (Nitisha, 2015). The second factor affecting
supply is the price of alternative products. The state of the current technology affects the supply of
the digital cameras. Notably, advanced technology results in reduction in the cost of production. As
such, this induces the producer to increase the supply.
The demand for digital cameras is influenced by incorporation of new and advanced technology to
the features of the cameras. Such features include touch screen, improved graphical user interface,
inclusion of high definition videos feature, wireless connectivity, advanced image detection, and so
forth (Economics Simplified, 2015). Other factors that affect demand of digital cameras include
price, income of the end consumers, the product quality, and the availability of the substitutes.
However, the inverse relationship between the digital cameras and the price do not always hold.

The Most Valued Photograph
What is your most valued photo? Is it in a frame that you look at every day? Or is it sitting in a box
tucked away from your eyes? Do you have it hiding in a photo book that can stir up memories
whenever you open it up? It may even be on a computer or as your wallpaper on your phone.
Photography has been used for many decades capturing memories from a breath–taking experience
to a memorable event. With the camera evolving, it has allowed a single person to capture a shot as
a favorite hobby or job, and can be used to communicate to the society about an important action.
The very first camera invented was just a wooden box. Evolving into so much more, a photograph
can now be captured from a hand held device in just seconds. The earliest date that a camera was
actually used was in the early 1500's. It was used just for viewing and drawing purposes, especially
helping with artist's sketching to "trace shapes and lines, and coloring the picture in" (Students for
Students). Developing an actual picture wasn't discovered until 1814, discovered by a man named
Joseph Niepce, who captured the first permanent image. The photo took around "eight hours of light
exposure, and later faded" (Bellis). Over the next few years, inventors had found ways to make the
process easier to get the photos from the camera. In 1851, a man by the name of Frederick Scott
Archer found a way to cut the process into just two seconds needed for photos to be exposed to light
(Bellis)."You press the button, we

The good things that come out of photography come from special moments, like capturing a blind
man see for the first time in over thirty years, or a little boy being baptized in a Muslim country.
There are also very bad things about photography. People tend to abuse their right to use cameras.
Many people take inappropriate pictures and film inappropriate videos. For example: people film
pornography, which is a sin. Matthew 5:27–28 states "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not
commit adultery'; 28 but I say to you, that everyone who looks on a woman to lust for her has
committed adultery with her already in his heart." (Matthew 5:27–28) also since pornography is a
sin, Titus 3:1–7 states; "Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to
be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show
perfect courtesy toward all people. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray,
slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and
hating one another. He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to
his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out

The Camera Has Made A Great Impact On People, And History...
Many people believe that the camera has not changed the world, but have they thought of life
without the camera? Without the camera people would be in a vivdless world. The camera has made
a huge impact on people 's lives and it has evolved over time. The camera is one important tool used
everyday by many people. The camera has made a great impact on people, and history.
The camera has not always been here. Before it was created there were no; picture ID 's, portraits of
people, pictures as souvenirs of travel, celebrity pictures, advertisements, x–rays, images of outer
space, images of foreigners or exotic people, images of sports, war, or disasters. Without the camera,
nothing was really documented, so no one could understand the event in the future (Garner). Before
the camera was invented, there was no way to photograph any historical event or historical person.
As people tried to study different events or people, they found it hard to imagine the person or the
event. Life without the camera meant, there was no way to show future generations a person or
event in history, unless someone had painted a picture (Herubel and Buchanan [Page 239]). Without
the camera, this world would be a vividless, dark, and gray place to live with no remembrance of
anything.

George Eastman and the Kodak Camera Essay
"Eastman's improvements had the effect of moving photography from the professional's studio,
where it had evolved from the realm of portraiture and art, to the world of the general consumer,"
(Carlisle 247). Photography was a difficult hobby or profession to have in the mid– 1800s. It was
difficult because it needed essential pieces of equipment in order to even come out with a decent
picture. Cameras were normally five by eight inches, and all the equipment that was needed was a
hassle to carry (Buckland and Lefer 250). It required a darkroom, a tripod, and lots of chemicals. In
a darkroom, a photographer had to coat a glass plate with egg white, and then lay it on a solution of

He started his business of photography in 1881, advertising dry photographic plates. He moved on
to patenting his film in 1884, and then in 1889 he patented a roll film. He introduced his first
camera, the Kodak camera (shown in picture two) in 1888 (Carlisle 247.) This is when the magic
and joy of photography first began. "He called it a Kodak because he liked the strength of the letter
K and reckoned it was a word that would be pronounced the same in every language," (Buckland
and Lefer 250). In 1889, Eastman fit his Kodak cameras with transparent nitrocellulose film. This
was a major breakthrough in the photography industry because it allowed easier processing and
developing of a photo (Buckland and Lefer 250).
Taking pictures with the Kodak camera was simpler than the earlier camera because first, it did not
require a darkroom or chemicals and glass plates. It did not require any of these things because it
was not only one person's job to develop and take the photo. The photographer could send their
camera in, and the Eastman Kodak Company would develop the pictures for them. "In the first year,
13,000 people paid $25 for a Kodak; they each took 100 pictures, returned the camera and within
ten days, Kodak sent back the prints and camera with film for another 100 pictures," (Buckland and
Lefer 250). This opened up a whole new door for inexperienced photographers. All they had to do
was take pictures, and send the camera

The History Of Photography : The Great Mayan City Of Tikal
THE HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY
The world has been made unforgettable with the creation of photography.
As mankind rapidly evolved recording events became harder. Early history is only able to be
pictured with using our imagination. Often times historians often clash about what the world looked
like. Ancient civilizations from the Mayans and Aztecs have never been seen while they were in
their pristine condition. The world is left with written descriptions and ruins not only of the cities
themselves, but also the tools used. After the camera was invented in the early 1800s, events were
more frequently recorded and it was clear what tools and cities looked like before modern–day.
Photography has undoubtedly altered how we document events, created new job openings, and will
give generations to come amazing art and show defining moments from each generation.
Photography has helped evolve the world by creating new jobs and revolutionizing how events are
documented.
Before photography, capturing moments and keeping them alive was through word of mouth, or
written on paper. The great Mayan City of Tikal was finally constructed by 600 A.D. Tikal was said
to have had immense sports arenas, multiple hospitals, schools, and libraries. When the Spaniards
came around 1000 A.D., the Maya had vanished, leaving the ruins of their city behind. The
Spaniards documented what was seen, but some notes were unclear or lost (Maya). After the camera
had been invented in 1826 by Joseph Niepce, people

Should Police Officers Wear Body Cameras Essay
Why do police officers need body cameras? Body cameras can give proof to a police officers
actions if ever need. An untruthful story by either a police officer or citizen can be resolved with
body cameras. Thorough debates have been discussed throughout the public about whether a police
officer will abuse the body cameras by not turning the camera on. Police should wear body cameras
at all times. Citizens embellishing their stories, police officers abusing their power, and having
footage to interpret evidence better are a few reasons why we need body cameras for our officers.
There have been cases in the past that should have been resolved with body cameras; as blatant as
that sounds, body cameras can spark controversy through the public with cases like the shooting of
Michael Brown. Michael Brown was a black man who lived in the town of Ferguson, Missouri.
Unfortunately his life was ended at 18 years old by Darren Wilson who was a former police officer.
Wilson stepped down from his position as a police officer because of the shooting. Because of the

The Relief and Intaglio Printmaking Process
Describe the Relief Printmaking process. List an artist who uses the form of printmaking. Refer to
this video for more information.
The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of
material, such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the form of
a design. Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is shared
generously all over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been transferred and
they will have the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut Relief
Printmaking, or "Woodcuts". There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of wood is
used so an artist can engrave an image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my opinion, the
second step of the process could be left to remain as the art itself. In the video showing the process
as Lyell Castonguay created his piece, "Hydra", I thought the design in the ink coated wood looked
more bold and real than the actually piece. But this may only be for the reason that the finished
product lacked color in comparison. Of course, Lyell isn't the only artist who uses this printmaking
process. Another artist who uses Relief Printmaking is Katsushika Hokusai. Hokusai used the same
process to create his color woodcut piece called "South Wind, Clear Sky", a portrayal of Mount Fuji.

Fourth Amendments And Surveillance Cameras In Schools

  • 1. Fourth Amendments And Surveillance Cameras In Schools Security cameras and surveillance systems have become ubiquitous in many states. Whereas before the 21th century, it may be only found in banks, police stations, and hospitals. The Fourth Amendment states, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause...". Citizens fear that the Fourth Amendment is being violated due to the use of security cameras in educational facilities. Surveillance cameras are legally not allowed to be in bathrooms, locker rooms, and school classes, however, students still feel their privacy is being exploited. Security cameras have negatively and positively affected our society through the social/ cultural, historical, and economical aspects of a citizen's life. Educational facilities have doubled down on security by adding security cameras in hallways, lunchrooms, and outside the class rooms, for the safety and the hope that students will act twice on illegal decisions that they may make. Other education facilities install security cameras for education purposes, with the hope that the students grade point average will skyrocket, and students will be more engaged during school. These accusations stated have been tested and proven guilty by The School Crime Supplement to the National Crime Victimization and the School Survey on Crime and Safety. These organizations are funded and operated by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Invention Of The Camera And How It Revolutionized History The Invention of the Camera and How it Revolutionized History Sense the invention of the camera in 1826 photography has been used to document everything from family portraits, social injustice, sporting events, world news, expressions of joy and sorrow, and hundreds of monumental moments. The camera has given man the power to reveal the truth visually. Throughout history photographs have made enormous impacts on social consciousness and ultimately shaped public opinion on many pressing issues in society. Although photography is often considered a casual pastime, the invention of the camera has contributed to many aspects of history, science, and other important pieces of todays world. Before the invention of the camera, news traveled through word of mouth, writing, telegrams, and other forms of communication. Often times important moments were depicted through paintings, and drawings. Unfortunately, because of opinion and misinterpretation, many of those moments, had been depicted incorrectly. Take, for example the Boston Massacre which took place in the late 1700's before the invention of the camera. In order to inform people of what is now known as the shot heard around the world, Paul Revere, a famous American revolutionist made an engraving of the scene. People are accustomed to trusting the accuracy of historic documents, however the composition of this the engraving contains several inaccuracies that serious researchers should be aware of. • 3. George Eastman Biography George Eastman Kodak Camera George Eastman was many things. He left a great legacy for himself and established an amazing foundation for the Kodak Camera. Before starting any type of work in any field, he went to public school for seven years. Public education is where he got the foundational education for his later camera invention. He didn't begin his camera work until much later in life. In his early working years, he was well established in an insurance office, a book office, and studied scientific books for his own knowledge. These early jobs didn't pay well, however, they allowed him to earn a living to support his family before becoming extremely wealthy. Eastman sacrificed many things in his early life including family opportunities, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although many didn't believe there was one person in his life that did and that came from his business work. The business man that he worked for at a young age saw his full potential and believed that whatever he put his mind too he could accomplish. "While he was still working for the bank in Rochester, New York, Eastman became seriously interested in photography" (source 3). He was only able to be interested in new things because someone else believed in him. Starting small Eastman decided to open his own business, so that he could learn how to run a company and to create a good reputation for himself without people making opinions without knowing anything about him. After creating a steady business and allowing for people to learn his true potential he was able to begin early research work. "The clerical work at the insurance office did not absorb all of young Eastman's energies, as his trips to Niagara Falls, Boston, Maine, and Chicago indicate" (source 1). The early work that he began didn't turn out as well as it could have, however because he now had the support of the surrounding people he was able to get through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Camera Obscura Research Paper I choose to do my experiential project on the camera obscura which essentially displays an image onto a wall or other surface to be viewed. The word "camera obscura" comes from the Latin term that means "dark chamber" which came from the practice of creating dark rooms that had a small pinhole that allowed light to enter and project an image from the other side of the pinhole into the room. The earliest record of a camera obscura comes from Mo Ti, a Chinese philosopher around 400 BCE where he explained the basic concepts of the pinhole camera before Aristotle mentioned this phenomenon in Problems Book–XV around 384–322 BCE. The first instance the pinhole camera was described with the use of being an instrument was when Ibn al–Haitham of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I used one of the example sources for step by step instructions and a materials list. To attempt this task I gathered five black poster boards, a couple of rolls of duct tape, a flashlight, scissors, different x–acto knifes, and the camera on my phone to document the project. I covered my window with the poster boards and used the duct tape to hold the boards to darken my room as much as possible. I then cut a hole for the lens of the flashlight to be attached to the poster boards and darkened the rest of the room to get the full effect. To my surprise it did not reflect the view outside of my window rather it just vaguely displayed the color of the sky on some of the walls. With this disappointment I researched some more and took the flashlight lens off the poster board and made a smaller hole with the lens. This modification did not have change the effect that displayed on the other walls. While my attempt at this project did not gather any results it was an interesting experiment with the physics of light. If I were to attempt this project again I would try it with of a room that only had one window, which would hopefully make it easier to completely darken the room, and a room that also had something directly in front of the window unlike my room which has a vista view but nothing directly outside the room. While this project was a failure in terms of re creating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Develop from the negative and if things don't work out take another shot." – Unknown Author B.Revealed Object and Speaker Credibility: A camera represents many things in the photography culture and, as someone who doesn't consider themselves a photographer but rather a hobbyist photographer, I think it's important that people be educated about this creative culture. • 6. Photography And Its Impact On Photography Photography is an art that has been around for over a century. Throughout the years, photography has grown rapidly. It is now very popular throughout the world. There are hundreds of careers and jobs in photography. It is also a growing hobby, and for some people, it is their life. As time goes on, it will just grow in it's popularity. Photography is a method of recording images by the action of light on a sensitive material. So basically, it is capturing images with a camera. This is a wonderful process that thousands of people use every day, whether it's to make money or just to have fun. The history of photography is very complex. It was not necessarily just one thing, or one person, that made it all. Instead, it took a series of people, throughout time, to develop and form photography into what it is today. Even today, (and)it's still growing. The very first photograph was produced by Joseph Nicephore Niepce. It's called, "View from the Window at Le Gras." Of course it was black and white, as all pictures originally were. In 1827, Joseph Nicephore Niepce produced this image using a camera obscura, which was one of the very first cameras. Before Niepce figured this out, people just used the camera obscura for viewing or drawing purposes, not for taking photographs. Louis Daguerre is another important person in photography's history. In 1829, he began a partnership with Niepce, and together they further developed photography even more. After Niepce died, Daguerre developed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the invention the gelatin dry plate silver bromide process by Richard Leach Maddox, negatives did not have to be developed immediately (Greenspun, 2007). This was an important discovery since up until then the capture image had to be processed instantly. George Eastman invented the Kodak camera. For $22.00, an amateur could purchase a camera with enough film for 100 shots (Bellis). After use, it was sent back to the company, which then processed the film. The ad slogan read, "You press the button, we do the rest." A year later, the delicate paper film was changed to a plastic base, so that photographers could do their own processing (Bellis). Eastman's first simple camera in 1888 was a wooden, light–tight box a simple lens and shutter that was factory–filled with film. The photographer pushed a button to produce a negative (Digital Shutter Mania , 2009). Once the film was used up, the photographer mailed with the filmed still in it to the Kodak factory where the film was removed from the camera, processed, and printed. The camera was then reloaded with the film and returned. This development led to another key invention, the motion picture camera by Thomas Edison in 1891 (Bellis). Over almost 170 years, the camera has been continually developed from the big, wooden, and hard–to–use style to the most modern digital camera which everybody can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Police Body Cameras Police body cameras are becoming more common in major cities around the us, and are meant to lower aggression and complaints brought upon the department's. Though the cameras are only becoming a big topic there have been many studies and debates in whether or not the cameras should be mandatory for all departments. The main and most talked about disadvantage of the cameras is the questions it raises about privacy of cops and the public. On the other hand one of the upsides are how much they will help in court cases by lowering costs and time spent. When in court the cameras can either show is it is a case of police brutality or if the cop handled the situation properly. The topic of police brutality has come up throughout recent history and the problem is someone is always lying and with cameras you can get a first hand point of view in every case. This is important because many people view the idea of police body cameras as a way to solve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a person wants to prove that body cameras are ineffective they can just point out all the things that the backers missed and poke at the little mistake in the ideas that a backer would have. One of the main weaknesses in the body cameras are they do invade some people's privacy and it could be seen as a big problem and something that cannot be fixed without getting rid of the cameras. • 10. The Impact Of Photography On Digital Photography Photography is a word derived from the Greek words, photos meaning "light" and graphein meaning "to draw" (History of Photography). The word was first used by the scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839 (History of Photography and the Camera). It is a method of recording images by the action of light, or related radiation, on a sensitive material. The end of the 19th century was an important time in camera history. Shutters were incorporated into cameras, the size of the devices decreased and these moments set the stage for a new, ever–changing century of innovation in digital photography (From Shutters to DSLR). Digital camera technology was born out of the spy satellite program designed to reduce the difficulties of collecting photographic data from cameras in orbit (From Shutters to DSLR). From these early designs, digital cameras increased in resolution and decreased in size and cost until they gradually became practical for widespread consumer use. Following many years of steady development, Nikon has been contributed to incredible innovations as a leading company in digital camera industry. The first pinhole camera was invented by Alhazen, a great authority on optics in the Middle Ages who lived around 1000AD, and it was able to explain why the images were upside down (History of Photography and the Camera). The first practical process of photography was performed in 1829, Niepce used paper coated with silver chloride, succeeded in photographing the images formed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This wonderful technology has existed since ancient times, and has only improved in recent history, changing society in the process. While we think of photography as a fairly modern invention, that is simply not true. In fact, there are documents on the underlying principle behind photography dating back to as early as the Fifth Century, B.C. The first recorded instance of a photographic image was found in 5th Century China. During that time, Chinese philosopher and scholar Mo–Ti described how light passing through a pinhole into a dark room created an inverted, full color image on the opposite wall. After Niepce's death, his business partner, French painter Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre continued to work on improving image quality and reducing exposure time. Eventually, Daguerre discovered a method that involved exposing the metal plate to mercury fumes. This method became known as the "daguerreotype." Over the next several decades photography continued to improve, bringing it closer and closer to the art and science we know today. While the original Daguerreotype started a massive surge on photography, two later inventions turned photography social phenomenon that became ingrained in our lives today. The first of these inventions is called the "calotype" process. invented in 1839 by William Henry Fox Talbot this method of photography involved exposing chemically treated paper, producing a "negative" that could be redeveloped. This allow for multiple copies of the same image to be printed, and is the predecessor to modern film photography. The next major breakthrough in the art of photography was the portable camera. Before its inception, most photos were taken using a large, cumbersome device that worked as a camera and darkroom for developing glass plates coated with a sticky collodion solution. It is a visual diary, containing the secrets of the earth. This great pastime is used all around the world. The good, the bad, and the ugly makes up photography. Anyone can enjoy photography including you. There are many different parts in photography such as its history and equipment. There are many types of photography as well. Photography in today's society is called the killer fine art. Photography was invented around the 1820s. It is now the most growing hobby in the world. The first camera created is called the Camera Obscura. The Camera Obscura was used during the 13th – 14th centuries. It was a dark closed box–shaped space with a hole on one side. The Camera Obsurca got its name from the Latin word "Dark Room". The man behind the camera was Joseph Nicephore. Other important men in photography history include Alfred Stieglitz (who changed photography into art) and Henri Carrtier–Bresson (the father of photojournalism). The next major camera movement was film cameras. These cameras came out in the early 1900s. This movement gave the Granddaddy camera its name. Daguerre moved on develop the notion of the modern day dark room, a room used to Daguerre perfected a new process of making an image permanent, and made it known to the world as the daguerreotype. The daguerreotype immediately became famous. It used a "highly polished surface of silver that was plated on a copper sheet." The process reduced the exposure time from a rather lengthy time of eight hours. The image that was produced was extremely detailed and exciting to look at, but despite its popularity, the daguerreotype was in fact a technological dead end, as there was no way for the photographs to be duplicated from a single negative. In June of 1840, an English scientist named William Henry Fox Talbot announced a technique that used highly light–sensitive paper. First, after exposure, the paper would appear completely blank. To make the image visible, silver iodide had to be used. Talbot dubbed his invention a collotype, which, when translated, means "beautiful impression". Later, in 1800, Thomas Wedgewood made what he called "sun pictures" by placing objects on a piece of leather treated with silver nitrate, which were the first photographs, although they faded and deteriorated if exposed to much light. In 1816, Nicéphore Niépce combined the photosensitive paper with the camera obscura, which after multiple tries and multiple years, created a permanent image on the paper. In 1834, Henry Fox Talbot created a permanent image using paper soaked in silver chloride and fixed with a salt solution, which was an image negative. Talbot could make a positive image by contact printing the image onto another sheet of paper . • 17. Why Do Police Surveillance Cameras Necessary? Today 's society, where police presences and force is a common necessity for citizens to feel secure and safe while being in public, causes a controversial debate to surface; whether police surveillance cameras are a necessary tool in public safety or are the police surveillance cameras a violation of citizens ' rights and civil liberties. An abundance of individuals believe that the installation of police surveillance cameras, also know as, CCTV (closed circuit television), does not infringe on their civil liberties, due to no specific mentioning of Americans having the right to privacy in the Constitution of United States. However, the believers of police CCTV do not realize that the manner in which public officials use information obtained by CCTV may violate their civil liberties. Whether these cameras cause citizens to sacrifice their civil liberties should not be the only deciding factor in whether police CCTV should be enforced in public areas, e.g. public parks and city streets. There are other components that should be considered before the debate of CCTV violating American 's civil liberties; for example, effectiveness of police surveillance cameras, the cost and who will be funding the installation, maintenance and wages of police monitoring the cameras. These three factors alone are reason enough to oppose the installation and use of police surveillance cameras. Police surveillance cameras are ineffective at deterring crime. In two of the most iconic scenes in movie history, it is only natural that a slew of camera techniques are used to tell the story of each particular scene, most of which are some of the same methods. While the use of shallow focus is something that is conspicuous throughout both of the scenes, Raising Arizona also feature a zoom shot when the camera focus switches subjects to the diaper package that has been dropped. A portion of framing is also a difference within each scene, though the framing is mostly level, Raising Arizona also uses a canted framing when shooting the running within the street. A high angle of framing is used in City of God, during the shooting scene. This is used to display more people on the screen and heighten the sense of panic. Crane shot and whip pan are also used in the scene of City of God, given the amount of individuals in that scene; whip pan is used quite a bit to get everyone in the shot. A crane is used at the beginning for parts such as walking down stairs. In City of God, a difference in speed rate is also a noticeable variance among the scenes. While all of these are slight differences, the most obvious deviations in technique are the camera movement. The biopic also allows the audience to experience the film from the protagonist's point of view, thereby making an impact on them. Examples of these types of films include The King's Speech and Erin Brockovich. Both films portray iconic protagonists innovatively, however, it can be said that the representation of the biopic is more effective in the characterisation of King George VI, in The King's Speech. The personal evolution of King George VI is expertly captured through the camera angles used in the film. At the beginning of the film, King George is captured using mainly high angled camera shots. This alludes to King George's perceptions of himself and his low self–confidence. As people tried to study different events or people, they found it hard to imagine the person or the event. Life without the camera meant, there was no way to show future generations a person or event in history, unless someone had painted a picture (Herubel and Buchanan [Page 239]). • 31. George Eastman and the Kodak Camera Essay "Eastman's improvements had the effect of moving photography from the professional's studio, where it had evolved from the realm of portraiture and art, to the world of the general consumer," (Carlisle 247). Photography was a difficult hobby or profession to have in the mid– 1800s. It was difficult because it needed essential pieces of equipment in order to even come out with a decent picture. Cameras were normally five by eight inches, and all the equipment that was needed was a hassle to carry (Buckland and Lefer 250). It required a darkroom, a tripod, and lots of chemicals. In a darkroom, a photographer had to coat a glass plate with egg white, and then lay it on a solution of gun cotton and alcohol mixed with bromide salts. When this ... He moved on to patenting his film in 1884, and then in 1889 he patented a roll film. He introduced his first camera, the Kodak camera (shown in picture two) in 1888 (Carlisle 247.) This is when the magic and joy of photography first began. "He called it a Kodak because he liked the strength of the letter K and reckoned it was a word that would be pronounced the same in every language," (Buckland and Lefer 250). In 1889, Eastman fit his Kodak cameras with transparent nitrocellulose film. This was a major breakthrough in the photography industry because it allowed easier processing and developing of a photo (Buckland and Lefer 250). Taking pictures with the Kodak camera was simpler than the earlier camera because first, it did not require a darkroom or chemicals and glass plates. It did not require any of these things because it was not only one person's job to develop and take the photo. The photographer could send their camera in, and the Eastman Kodak Company would develop the pictures for them. "In the first year, 13,000 people paid $25 for a Kodak; they each took 100 pictures, returned the camera and within ten days, Kodak sent back the prints and camera with film for another 100 pictures," (Buckland and Lefer 250). This opened up a whole new door for inexperienced photographers. All they had to do was take pictures, and send the camera ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The History Of Photography : The Great Mayan City Of Tikal THE HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY The world has been made unforgettable with the creation of photography. As mankind rapidly evolved recording events became harder. Early history is only able to be pictured with using our imagination. Often times historians often clash about what the world looked like. Ancient civilizations from the Mayans and Aztecs have never been seen while they were in their pristine condition. The world is left with written descriptions and ruins not only of the cities themselves, but also the tools used. After the camera was invented in the early 1800s, events were more frequently recorded and it was clear what tools and cities looked like before modern–day. Photography has undoubtedly altered how we document events, created new job openings, and will give generations to come amazing art and show defining moments from each generation. Photography has helped evolve the world by creating new jobs and revolutionizing how events are documented. Before photography, capturing moments and keeping them alive was through word of mouth, or written on paper. The great Mayan City of Tikal was finally constructed by 600 A.D. Tikal was said to have had immense sports arenas, multiple hospitals, schools, and libraries. When the Spaniards came around 1000 A.D., the Maya had vanished, leaving the ruins of their city behind. The Spaniards documented what was seen, but some notes were unclear or lost (Maya). After the camera had been invented in 1826 by Joseph Niepce, people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Should Police Officers Wear Body Cameras Essay Why do police officers need body cameras? Body cameras can give proof to a police officers actions if ever need. An untruthful story by either a police officer or citizen can be resolved with body cameras. Thorough debates have been discussed throughout the public about whether a police officer will abuse the body cameras by not turning the camera on. Police should wear body cameras at all times. Citizens embellishing their stories, police officers abusing their power, and having footage to interpret evidence better are a few reasons why we need body cameras for our officers. There have been cases in the past that should have been resolved with body cameras; as blatant as that sounds, body cameras can spark controversy through the public with cases like the shooting of Michael Brown. Michael Brown was a black man who lived in the town of Ferguson, Missouri. Unfortunately his life was ended at 18 years old by Darren Wilson who was a former police officer. Wilson stepped down from his position as a police officer because of the shooting. Because of the lack of footage of Michael Browns shooting, one can only predict that the incident could have been resolved with a body camera. Throughout history, police ... During the depression in the 1930s, jobs were scarce and many people were forced out of their homes. Black people could not find jobs; the only jobs that were available to men were factory workers and cotton pickers. One of the greatest advancements is the creation of the camera. The camera provided vivid images for the world to view. History was documented for the first time in centuries. Another great technological advancement would be the airplane. It created a new outlook on transportation and sparked a new revolution of aviation. By examining modern travel and certain historical events, it is a given that the camera and the airplane have both tremendously impacted world history. Joseph Nicephore Niepce was the first person to create what is called the camera. • 36. The Relief and Intaglio Printmaking Process Describe the Relief Printmaking process. List an artist who uses the form of printmaking. Refer to this video for more information. The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of material, such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the form of a design. Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is shared generously all over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been transferred and they will have the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut Relief Printmaking, or "Woodcuts". There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of wood is used so an artist can engrave an image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my opinion, the second step of the process could be left to remain as the art itself. In the video showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece, "Hydra", I thought the design in the ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the actually piece. But this may only be for the reason that the finished product lacked color in comparison. Of course, Lyell isn't the only artist who uses this printmaking process. Another artist who uses Relief Printmaking is Katsushika Hokusai. Hokusai used the same process to create his color woodcut piece called "South Wind, Clear Sky", a portrayal of Mount Fuji.
