Research audience and representation
1. Analyse the Band/Artist Posters in your groups Using denotation/connotation. What does the poster connote regarding the representation of the artist? Who is the target audience? Include a full demographic profile. (You must all write at least one point. Put your name next to your point).

6. The Start of your Research You now have 6 weeks to complete your research. Even though most of you are working in groups – research submitted must be individual. You devise an artist/brand together – you use this made up artist for the group and individual tasks. However, you cannot all use the same photographs. The research goes towards your final grade, alongside the production and evaluation. You will each have a research page that you will need to upload work too. Ensure all your work is placed on the Wikispace.
8. TasksDecide on 4-6 artists you might analyse who are similar to yours. Task 1 Title: Research how similar artists to your own are represented. Analyse 2-3 similar artists on a word document. Copy images of the artists and annotate around the image. You might want to use poster images, screen shots from music videos, website images etc. (Use your own words. Do not copy and paste. You will be caught for plagiarism by the exam board).
9. The gold hood connotes…… Rihanna is represented as…………………
10. Tasks Task 2 Title: Research who the target audience is for these artists. How do they target a more diverse audience? Take into consideration: psychographics, demographic profiles. Write your findings up in a word document. (again, do not copy & paste from the Internet). Extension – higher marks: Use Google books to find out more about audiences (e.g. psychographics). Again, reference these books if you use quotes.
11. Referencing Any websites/books/magazines you use to help you must be sourced. Copy and paste and website links/books you use to help you into your word documents at the bottom of the page. These will need to be put into a bibliography once research is completed.
