Assessment Task Instructions for Students
Assessment Task:
In a designated classroomyou will be undertaking a practical assessment. There will be 4 stations set
up and you will have to correctly fix the following at each station:
Station 1 – Fixing metal bottom track to concrete
Station 2 – Fixing timber bottom plate to concrete
Station 3 – Fixing metal bottom track to a steel plate
Station 4 – Fixing timber bottom plate to a steel plate
You are required to:
 Work out the fixing length for each task
 Set up the room with safety systems/signage in place
 Have all your PPE and correctly wear it through out the assessment
 Operate an Explosive power Tool multiple times
 Test fire and select charge strength
 Fix the above items using correct techniques and correct fixing position/distances
 Use different techniques to hold materials in place while fixing
 Simulate a misfire
 Strip/check and maintain the EPT
 Logbook your activity
You must ensure all PPE is worn correctly throughout the entire assessment. If you are not found to
be working safely at anytime you assessment will be stopped

 Prepare powder actuated power tools
 Operate powder actuated power tools
 Maintain powder actuated tools
 Store powder actuated tools and charges
 Clean up

 You must participate in SWMS discussion prior to beginning this assessment
 This is a practical assessment
Materials provided: Assessment paper, all tools, equipment and materials will be made available for
each student.
Materials you may need: Full PPE, and a devise to access eLearn
Information for students: You may have two (2) attempts for this assessment.
 If your first attempt is not successful, your teacher will discuss your results with you and will
arrange a second attempt.
 If your second attempt is not successful, you will be required to re-enrol in this unit.
Only one re-assessment attempt will be granted for each assessment item.
