The Office and Staffroom
The office and staffroom are located
upstairs.
You will need to take your
permissions to the office at break
times.
You will need to report to the office if
you arrive more than 10 minutes
late in the morning.
Please wait at the window of the
office to be attended.
If you need to speak to a teacher,
please wait at the staffroom door to
be attended.
You are all new to us
Remember that when you
start Bach, you come with
a clean slate.
We do not know who you
are or what you have
done before.
Think about who you want
to be in Bach and make
sure you project that
image.
The impression that you
make on us during the
first few weeks is very
important.
Problems in school
There is a time in life when every student
comes up against problems.
If it is with a teacher, try talking to them
first, or ask another teacher for advice.
If it is with friends and you can’t sort it
out, ask the teachers or psychologists for
help.
Do not try to hide from your problems –
they won’t go away if you ignore them.
Don’t exaggerate small problems you
can deal with yourself. Do not expect
your mum to solve all your problems!Liliana will deal with any
serious problems between
students, and you can also
look for Silvia.
Psychology Department
Where can I get help in
school?
All teachers are here to help.
Your advisor can give more
guidance and will work with
you once a week.
Psychologists are here to
help with all issues that arise
in adolescence.
What if I miss school?
If you are going to miss school for a special
event you must bring a letter from home and get
all the teachers whose class you will miss to sign
it. They will also tell you what work you will need
to do.
If you are ill, ask your parents to ring or send an
email to school to say why you are not coming.
If they can’t do that, bring a note when you get
back. If you are ill you must bring the sick note
(incapacidad) and hand it in to the office.
Keep in touch with what you have to do through
the Google Classroom. Friends can help, but
don’t rely solely on them.
Remember that it is your responsibility to find out
what you missed – teachers have many students
to keep track of.
Permissions to Leave school
You will need a pass (carnet) if
you go in the car or walk to school.
You will need to bring a photo for
the carnet.
If you have relatives in Primary or
EC you have a special permission
to leave with them through these
gates.
Bring a written permission with
your name and class if you will
leave with someone else (bus
riders) or before the end of the
school day. You must take it to the
office at break time in order to get
a gate pass.
Permissions to Leave class
If you feel ill your
teacher may give you
a sick note to take to
the nurse. You must
bring it back, signed
by the nurse.
You may not leave
class to go to lockers,
toilet, office etc.
except under special
circumstances.
Extracurricular Activities
These will be after
3pm.
You go home on
the bus at 5 if you
are a bus rider.
If you come in car,
you must go home
by car at 5 pm.
Classroom Agreements
You will discuss
rules and
agreements in
each class.
There will be some
specific rules
depending on the
subject e.g. lab
rules.
Use of Cellphones
May not be used in class unless
the teacher gives special
permission.
May not be used to send
messages to mum, to take
photos of friends in class etc.
Are your responsibility.
Will be confiscated if misused.
Can be used freely and
responsibly at break times.
Reminders Agenda/Planner
You will be given a small agenda to write down things to
remember e.g. homework, bringing in money or donations etc.
You may also use a calendar tool in your tablet/laptop. It is
important that you keep your own record of what you need to do
and that you don’t rely on classmates to remind you.
Teachers will contact your parents directly by email when
necessary.
Google Classroom
The Google
Classroom
helps you to see
what you are
supposed to be
doing in each
subject.
You will need to
use your school
email to work in
Google
Classroom.
Where to eat and drink
You may eat in the section, but
please put your rubbish in the
bin.
You may not eat anything or
chew gum in class.
Please bring a Thermos of
water every day to drink in
class. You will not be allowed
to drink anything else, nor will
you be given permission to go
to the drinking fountain during
class.
Where to go at break time
You may sit anywhere in
the Section or Cafeteria.
You can play around the
gym and on the football
field in front of the
Cafeteria, but it is your
responsibility to get to class
on time!
Where not to go at break time
EC swings and
lunch tables
Primary and fields behind it –
you may not enter or use the
kiosk there
EC library entrance
and plazoleta
The passageways
around EC
The seats by the
buses at 1pm
when the small
children are
going home.
Uniform You should come in formal
(daily) uniform on the days
you don’t have PE or Drama.
Don’t forget to bring fresh PE
uniform to change into after
class.
Non-uniform items will be
confiscated and you may not
be allowed into class if you
have the wrong uniform for
that day.
Bring a note from home if
there are any problems with
the uniform.
On Wednesdays all students
wear Intercasas uniform.
Lockers You are responsible for the
upkeep of the locker. Please do
not stick things on it.
Get out the things you need in
break times and not between
classes.
You will pay for any damage at
the end of the year. If someone
else damages your locker tell
your advisor.
Do not leave it open – people
tend to ´borrow’ things that they
forget to give back!If you need to cut off the
padlock, get a note from your
teacher and find one of the
workers to help you.
Lost
Property
You will go to many different
rooms and need different
notebooks and materials.
Make sure that they are all
labelled – books, clothes,
materials etc. then there is more
chance of getting them back if
you lose them!
You will not be able to go back to the locker
because you brought the wrong things for class.
Don’t leave materials in rooms or by the lockers –
they tend to get ‘borrowed’. Ask your teacher to
keep large bags or pieces of work that you don’t
need during the day in the classroom cupboards.
Wednesdays
On Wednesdays the timetable goes to 1: 20 pm – you
still have all your classes, but they are shorter.
Once a month you will do House activities (Intercasas)
from 1:30 to 3.
Three times a month you can go home at 1:30
OR
you can choose other activities eg Model UN, Brigada
and voluntary work.
Reinforcement and Detentions
On Thursdays after school you stay
from 3 – 4. If you go home on the
bus, you go at 5pm.
Teachers will tell you if they need
you to stay.
You may be asked to stay for a few
minutes at break times for minor
infringements or to go over
something you missed, but you
should not be asked to miss your
whole break time as you also need
to rest and eat.
We really would love not to
see you in detention!
Punctuality
Arrive to school and class on time.
There are bells to let you know
when classes end.
There are warning bells at break
time to tell you to start going to
class (the teacher should remind
you in the Cafeteria.)
After breaks you must be in class
on the hour.
During breaks, get out materials
for the next set of classes so you
don’t need to go to the locker
between classes.
If you need to use the bathroom between
classes, go quickly. Do not arrive at your
next class and then ask for permission to
go, which wastes even more time!
Exams
You have formal exams in December and June.
You will have important tests throughout the year.
Handing in Work
You must hand in work
on the day your
teachers ask and in the
format they want.
If you need to print work
you may only do so in
school at break times.
It is much better to get a
good printer at home as
the queues can be quite
long.
Student Council
Think about whether
you have the profile to
be your class
representative.
They send a lot of
information through
social media such as
Whatsapp (often quite
late!) so it helps to be
connected.
Advisors
They will answer any other questions you
might have about Bach. They are the first
people to go to for help if you have a
problem.

You will need to report to the office if you arrive more than 10 minutes late in the morning. Please wait at the window of the office to be attended. If you need to speak to a teacher, please wait at the staffroom door to be attended.
  • 11. You are all new to us Remember that when you start Bach, you come with a clean slate. We do not know who you are or what you have done before. Think about who you want to be in Bach and make sure you project that image. The impression that you make on us during the first few weeks is very important.
  • 12. Problems in school There is a time in life when every student comes up against problems. If it is with a teacher, try talking to them first, or ask another teacher for advice. If it is with friends and you can’t sort it out, ask the teachers or psychologists for help. Do not try to hide from your problems – they won’t go away if you ignore them. Don’t exaggerate small problems you can deal with yourself. Do not expect your mum to solve all your problems!Liliana will deal with any serious problems between students, and you can also look for Silvia.
  • 13. Psychology Department Where can I get help in school? All teachers are here to help. Your advisor can give more guidance and will work with you once a week. Psychologists are here to help with all issues that arise in adolescence.
  • 14. What if I miss school? If you are going to miss school for a special event you must bring a letter from home and get all the teachers whose class you will miss to sign it. They will also tell you what work you will need to do. If you are ill, ask your parents to ring or send an email to school to say why you are not coming. If they can’t do that, bring a note when you get back. If you are ill you must bring the sick note (incapacidad) and hand it in to the office. Keep in touch with what you have to do through the Google Classroom. Friends can help, but don’t rely solely on them. Remember that it is your responsibility to find out what you missed – teachers have many students to keep track of.
  • 15. Permissions to Leave school You will need a pass (carnet) if you go in the car or walk to school. You will need to bring a photo for the carnet. If you have relatives in Primary or EC you have a special permission to leave with them through these gates. Bring a written permission with your name and class if you will leave with someone else (bus riders) or before the end of the school day. You must take it to the office at break time in order to get a gate pass.
  • 16. Permissions to Leave class If you feel ill your teacher may give you a sick note to take to the nurse. You must bring it back, signed by the nurse. You may not leave class to go to lockers, toilet, office etc. except under special circumstances.
  • 17. Extracurricular Activities These will be after 3pm. You go home on the bus at 5 if you are a bus rider. If you come in car, you must go home by car at 5 pm.
  • 18. Classroom Agreements You will discuss rules and agreements in each class. There will be some specific rules depending on the subject e.g. lab rules.
  • 19. Use of Cellphones May not be used in class unless the teacher gives special permission. May not be used to send messages to mum, to take photos of friends in class etc. Are your responsibility. Will be confiscated if misused. Can be used freely and responsibly at break times.
  • 20. Reminders Agenda/Planner You will be given a small agenda to write down things to remember e.g. homework, bringing in money or donations etc. You may also use a calendar tool in your tablet/laptop. It is important that you keep your own record of what you need to do and that you don’t rely on classmates to remind you. Teachers will contact your parents directly by email when necessary.
  • 21. Google Classroom The Google Classroom helps you to see what you are supposed to be doing in each subject. You will need to use your school email to work in Google Classroom.
  • 22. Where to eat and drink You may eat in the section, but please put your rubbish in the bin. You may not eat anything or chew gum in class. Please bring a Thermos of water every day to drink in class. You will not be allowed to drink anything else, nor will you be given permission to go to the drinking fountain during class.
  • 23. Where to go at break time You may sit anywhere in the Section or Cafeteria. You can play around the gym and on the football field in front of the Cafeteria, but it is your responsibility to get to class on time!
  • 24. Where not to go at break time EC swings and lunch tables Primary and fields behind it – you may not enter or use the kiosk there EC library entrance and plazoleta The passageways around EC The seats by the buses at 1pm when the small children are going home.
  • 25. Uniform You should come in formal (daily) uniform on the days you don’t have PE or Drama. Don’t forget to bring fresh PE uniform to change into after class. Non-uniform items will be confiscated and you may not be allowed into class if you have the wrong uniform for that day. Bring a note from home if there are any problems with the uniform. On Wednesdays all students wear Intercasas uniform.
  • 26. Lockers You are responsible for the upkeep of the locker. Please do not stick things on it. Get out the things you need in break times and not between classes. You will pay for any damage at the end of the year. If someone else damages your locker tell your advisor. Do not leave it open – people tend to ´borrow’ things that they forget to give back!If you need to cut off the padlock, get a note from your teacher and find one of the workers to help you.
  • 27. Lost Property You will go to many different rooms and need different notebooks and materials. Make sure that they are all labelled – books, clothes, materials etc. then there is more chance of getting them back if you lose them! You will not be able to go back to the locker because you brought the wrong things for class. Don’t leave materials in rooms or by the lockers – they tend to get ‘borrowed’. Ask your teacher to keep large bags or pieces of work that you don’t need during the day in the classroom cupboards.
  • 28. Wednesdays On Wednesdays the timetable goes to 1: 20 pm – you still have all your classes, but they are shorter. Once a month you will do House activities (Intercasas) from 1:30 to 3. Three times a month you can go home at 1:30 OR you can choose other activities eg Model UN, Brigada and voluntary work.
  • 29. Reinforcement and Detentions On Thursdays after school you stay from 3 – 4. If you go home on the bus, you go at 5pm. Teachers will tell you if they need you to stay. You may be asked to stay for a few minutes at break times for minor infringements or to go over something you missed, but you should not be asked to miss your whole break time as you also need to rest and eat. We really would love not to see you in detention!
  • 30. Punctuality Arrive to school and class on time. There are bells to let you know when classes end. There are warning bells at break time to tell you to start going to class (the teacher should remind you in the Cafeteria.) After breaks you must be in class on the hour. During breaks, get out materials for the next set of classes so you don’t need to go to the locker between classes. If you need to use the bathroom between classes, go quickly. Do not arrive at your next class and then ask for permission to go, which wastes even more time!
  • 31. Exams You have formal exams in December and June. You will have important tests throughout the year.
  • 32. Handing in Work You must hand in work on the day your teachers ask and in the format they want. If you need to print work you may only do so in school at break times. It is much better to get a good printer at home as the queues can be quite long.
  • 33. Student Council Think about whether you have the profile to be your class representative. They send a lot of information through social media such as Whatsapp (often quite late!) so it helps to be connected.
  • 34. Advisors They will answer any other questions you might have about Bach. They are the first people to go to for help if you have a problem.
