2. Our location
Kelmės „Kūlverstuko“ lopšelis-darželis is located in a town
called Kelmė. It is in the western part of Lithuania, in the middle
of region called Samogitia. The population is approx. 9000
inhabitants nowadays.
4. Main facts about our preschool
Kelmės “Kūlverstuko” nursery-kindergarten is a state
(public) educational establishment. It was established in
1982.
In 1992 it was reorganized into kindergarten-primary
school.
Due to decrease of children, the school was rearranged again
into nursery and kindergarten from September 2013.
As other pre-schools in Lithuania, we implement the pre-
school educational curriculum. Our main purpose is to help
a child satisfy inherent cultural (including ethnic), social and
cognitive needs.
We also provide children with a pre-primary educational
curriculum which is obligatory since September 2016.
5. Main facts about our preschool
At present 210 children attend our kindergarten. There are:
- 1 nursery group (children aged 1,5-3 years old),
- 5 preschool groups (children aged 3-5 years old),
- 3 pre-primary preparatory groups (children aged 6),
- 2 preschool and pre-primary education and social day care
groups for disabled pre-school age children (1,5-7 years old).
25 teachers work in our nursery-kindergarten.
6. What is Kūlverstukas?
The name of our kindergarten is
Kūlverstukas also known as Topple in
earlier English translations. It is a
fictitious character (an "animal unknown
to science", with large monkey-like ears
and a body resembling that of a cub, who
lives in a tropical forest") in children's
literature, from a 1965 story by Soviet
writer Eduard Uspensky.
Original name in Russian is Чебурашка
(Cheburashka).
7. Our priorities
Development of our school at all levels (teachers‘
professional development, improvement of material
facilities, etc.);
Innovations, project work;
Fostering creativity and healthy lifestyle integrated
education;
Close communication with local community and parents;
Supporting teachers and parents communication and
cooperation, involving parents into different educational
activities.
15. What distinguishes us from other preschools?
We are the only pre-school in Kelme district which provides the
disabled pre-school and pre-primary age children with education
and medical services (speech therapy, massage, kinesitherapy, etc).
A team of qualified and devoted specialists take a good care of
them .
16. We focus on healthy living and physical activities and pay much
attention to diversity and forms of activities as well as to educational
environments.
17. We practice outdoor education – we transfer activities from
classrooms to outdoor spaces. Thus we develop children's
environmental awareness and encourage creativity naturally.
18. We are constantly engaged in
project work both at local and
international levels.
Projects encourage teachers to
expand the curriculum and make
educational processes more vital,
enhance teachers’ professional
profile and broaden children’s
horizons.
19. We emphasize not only the content
(what subject/topic is taught?) but the
approach (How is the content
forwarded to recipient?).
What else distinguishes us from the others?
20. We willingly share experiences and we are not afraid to identify
our strengths and areas for improvement. This lets us grow
professionally and meet the expectations of children and their
parents
21. Our teachers’ various initiatives to make the curriculum more
engaging;
Awards and diplomas for children’s and teachers’ participation
in various events and competitions;
Successful cooperation and communication with children’s
parents and their contribution to our good results;
Our cosy and well equipped teaching-learning environment;
High evaluation for our project work - in 2016 the project “No
barriers for Europeans!“ was awarded the eTwinning Quality
label and European Quality Label.
Being an open school for others – we host students and teachers
from abroad
... AND MANY MORE OTHER THINGS!!!
We are proud of...
