3. Since finishing my preliminary task of the school
magazine, I have learnt more and my skills on using
the technology has improved. I can use PhotoShop
better now for editing my pictures, whereas before I
was unsure on how to use it. While researching I
was able to understand how magazine’s cover are
important to attract the target audience so I was
able to apply it to my own magazine.
While working on my magazine, I was also able
to learn more about my blog by adding different
files and how to export a file to a JPEG. I also
learnt how to use other programmes for
example SlideShare, Prezi and then add them
onto my blog. I feel like my skills have improved
since my preliminary task so I can now use
programmes which I couldn’t before.
4. Looking back at my school magazine, it is
very basic and it looks bare as well. It isn’t
very ‘catchy’ as it doesn’t jump out and
catch the audience’s eye. It fades into the
background, the writing is hard to read and
for the font I had to make some smaller
than the others so it is slightly hard to
read. There is a lot of space so it lacks
information about the magazine which also
lacks attention for the audience. I also feel
that my school contents page is too
sophisticated for my audience and doesn’t
relate to the school theme or what I am
trying to say.
5. However, for my music magazine, I worked hard to try and
improve my skills and make a design which appeals to my target
audience, looks attractive, grabs attention and professional as
well. I wanted to make my magazine appeal to my target
audience and being within the range of my target audience I
found it easy to know what we look for in magazines. I made my
title of my magazine big so it could be spotted on the shelf and
bright as well so it would be eye-catching. I made the sub-stories
big, but not as big as the title, so they can be readable. I was able
to fade the advert on my contents page so people knew it was
an advert and not part of the actual magazine, I also found it
easier to crop my photos and contrast them. I think my school
magazine helped me to gain skills on other programmes and it
also helped me to gain new skills as well
