LO3 Producer and Audience
In this assignment I will be discussing the relationship between the producer and the
audience.
Captain America is about a guy called Steve Rogers who is rejected for military service. It’s
1942 and World War II has hit America. Rogers gets asked to do an experiment by a Doctor
called Dr. Erksine he then turns into Captain America.
Captain America is an Action/Adventure/sci-fi movie with a superhero. The target audience
for Captain America is teenage males but director Joe Johnston casted Chris Evans as the
lead role to attract a female audience. The year of production for Captain America was in
2011, and it was directed by Joe Johnston. Captain America was produced by Kevin Feige.
Paramount Pictures distributed Captain America. The box office takings for this film were $
368,608,363 and the budget was $140 million. Captain America got released in the UK on
29th of July 2011.
Films are marketed in different ways, such as T.V, Web, Cinema, Billboards, Posters,
Newspapers, Magazines, the internet such as cinema film listings and review pages as well
as the official web page for the film, and word of mouth.
Adverts are shown on T.V before the film is released at the cinema, to advertise the film and
to give information about when it will be released. Web sites such as Facebook, YouTube,
and Twitter all have ‘like’ pages or groups that people can join and find information on films.
On Youtube there will be trailers for the film. In the cinema the trailers before the film you
are watching there will be films that have the same BBFC age certificate. Billboards are
always placed in places that are populated such as on the corner of a busy road, or in a
busy town centre. Posters will be placed in DVD shop windows such as HMV. Newspapers
have review pages that give the reader information about the date that the film will be
released. Magazines also have review pages that have people that have saw the film giving
their opinion about the movie. There will also be web pages that review the film such as
OEON cinema film listing websites. The film will also have an official website which will
provide reviews and dates of released. On other way films are usually marketed is word of
mouth, if someone you know has seen the film then they’ll tell you about it.
The relationship between the producer and audience is very important when making a film. If
the producer does his research about the target audience then he’ll know what the audience
is looking for.
Film producer’s targets audiences by employing star theory, for example Captain America is
mostly targeted at teenage males but Chris Evans was casted as the lead role to attract
females. The research methods that would be used to find out information about target
audience’s would be , Primary research , secondary research, quantitative research and
Qualitative is research.
