Cd Cover Presentation
1. I did this presentation as research to use as ideas for my own CD cover, I chose my favourite covers of which the music I like and analysed a few of them.
2. PINK THE ENEMY PANIC! AT THE DISCO CALVIN HARRIS EVANESCENCE FALL OUT BOY MUSE All Time Low
3. I chose this CD cover because to me it sums up the title of the album. (Folie a Deux, which means madness shared by two in French referring to the psychotic disorder). I think the picture on the front stands out as soon as you look at it because there is nothing else but a plain red background on it. The picture in the middle is of two bears, one being real and the other being a person in a costume. To me this shows the ‘madness of two’ because there messing around. The representation of this band is seen through this one picture which is almost strange and seems really random, but the band could want this to come across because its how they want there music to be seen like; wacky, different and appeals to a target audience who would want to listen to music which is the opposite of slow, calm music and something with a fast beat. The shadow shown on the cover makes this picture seem more realistic of these two characters. FALL OUT BOY FOLIE a DEUX
4. I really like this cover because it stands out and to me it would have a big impact on the audience as I think if someone who has never heard of this band or any of their songs would see this as a really strong image. This image has a lot going on and is very negative because of the way the scene has been set; with the child on top of a pile of either debris or bodies and the destruction in front of her. I think the balloon the child is holding could be very symbolic as it’s the only colourful thing on this image and because of the title ‘alternate endings’, this image basically sums up the albums name as you would see this picture as an ending of something as everything has been destroyed. I think the band could be represented through this image because of the dark and serious setting. The genre of this band would be punk rock or metal as it hasn’t represented the band through a happy and colourful front cover its very dark&serious compared to say a pop album which would be brightly coloured and playful. FIGHTSTAR ALTERNATE ENDINGS
5. I chose this cover because It stood out and I think it really represents the band and the album well. This image on the cover is colourful, but they have used subtle, simple colours and has made it look quite a cold image. I like how they have shown an image of lungs on her to fit with the title of the album and this picture is very dream like the way she’s posing against the tree covered with flowers. I think this image sums up the band because I think there more indie genre and this image really shows that, compared to how a rock band would have there images presented. The title of the band is presented on the top and even the style font matches the cover as it is white and the writing is flowed and isn't block letters like the album’s title written at the bottom. I like the way they have chosen to place the album’s title on her body over the lungs because it is focussing on the lungs which the audience will notice and want to look at more as it would be interesting to see why they might have chosen to call the album lungs and actually have lungs shown on the cover and would make them interested to listen to there music. FLORENCE + THE MACHINE LUNGS
6. This image I chose because of its simplicity yet the image sums up the solo artist, Calvin Harris. The album is called ready for the weekend and this image represents it because the fact he has chosen to show a women on the front cover and not himself, and as he’s a man, a women could represent his interest or to represent the weekend etc, and the glasses she is wearing is then representing him because he is known for wearing those glasses in his music videos. So in this one simple image he has represented the album and himself which I really liked and he hasn’t chosen any colour for this front cover which makes this image quite euphoric as the glasses stand out and with that then links to his genre of music which is electro pop which is seen as dance music that would be played loud in a club as its energetic and like the image, euphoric. CALVIN HARRIS READY FOR THE WEEKEND
7. This one I chose because the image represents the title which is ‘funhouse’. I like this image because its fun looking and quite punky, in this image has pink in it and she shows that she is having a good time it looks as if she doesn’t care about anything, so its quite rebellious yet this image Is quite child like, as it has a carousel horse in which she is riding and her outfit looks like a circus costume which also fits in with the title funhouse. The font and writing that can be seen in the background is very circus like as well. I think this image is showing her genre of music is pop but quite rocky as she doesn’t come across as being the typical pop artist. FUNHOUSE PINK
