Latin communicate, meanin
g "to share" [1]) is the
activity of
conveying information thro
ugh the exchange of
thoughts, messages, or
information, as by
speech, visuals, signals, wri
ting, or behavior. It is the
meaningful exchange of
information between two
or more living creatures.

2. Previous Communication
 Written communication first emerged through
the use of pictographs. The pictograms were
made in stone, hence written communication
was not yet mobile.
 The next step occurred when writing began to
appear on paper, papyrus, clay, wax, etc. with
common alphabets Communication became
mobile.
 The final stage is characterized by the transfer of
information through controlled waves
of electromagnetic
radiation (i.e., radio, microwave, infrared) and
other electronic signals


Technology has affected society and its
surroundings in a number of ways. In
many societies, technology has helped
develop more advanced
economies (including today's global
economy) and has allowed the rise of
a leisure class. Many technological
processes produce unwanted byproducts, known as pollution, and deplete
natural resources, to the detriment of
Earth's environment. Various
implementations of technology influence
the values of a society and new
technology often raises new ethical
questions. Examples include the rise of
the notion of efficiency in terms of human
productivity, a term originally applied only
to machines, and the challenge of
traditional norms.

individuals or organizations) and a

these actors. The social network
perspective provides a set of
methods for analyzing the

as well as a variety of theories
explaining the patterns observed

network analysis to identify local
and global patterns, locate
influential entities, and examine
network dynamics.
