2. What’s the idea?
• We would use a narrative about a couple breaking
apart from each other and the artist has been kicked
out of her house in the rain.
• The miming of the song would begin when he is walking
out with a close up of his face tracking him away from
the house. The house being in the background as the
camera goes further away.
• there are cuts of shots from the man and the women
and how they are dealing with the fight afterwards.
• We would have shots of her looking at old pictures of
them together (over the shoulder shot) and shots of him
wondering the streets with his head down as he walks
and up when we have shot of him singing. (long shot
tracking)
3. Location
• We have three overnights to choose
from. We would only need one of them
for a forecast of rain in the night.
• The pictures are of initial location ideas
for the girlfriends house and the street
he’ll be walking. It is a quiet street
which reduces risk. And reduces public
interference.
• The initial for this location in terms of
lighting is to film it during the day or
dusk where we still have natural light to
work with in order to see the male’s
characters face. But in the editing
process, we can add a dark and grey
filter over the outside shot in order to
give the effect of night and the colour
would set the mood for the video.
4. Performance Style
• We have an idea of the
various shots to use on the
two characters. One of which
is where the girl tosses and
turns in her bed trying to
sleep. This can be shot with a
birds eye view. This shot is
similar to the picture (right):
• This is from the music video
‘Bad Day’ by Daniel Powter.
5. Props
• For the props we would require a set of photos and
a way to store the pictures together in order for the
female character to look at that is suitable for a
clear shot for camera purposes.
• There may be a possibility that we would use a
guitar for the character outside. This is capable as
we have a member of the group with a couple.
• We need phones for the two characters to start
getting back together with missed calls on her
bedside table and him using in the rain. These two
scene would cut together.
6. Casting and Costumes
• We would only need a male and a female acting
together for this music video. We are confident in
finding out of our friends each of these characters
who is comfortable and good for filming. We will se
the male character on the task of learning the lyrics
of the song giving an effective look of lip syncing.
• We would need one costume for the male
character and two for the woman. For the man, it
should be toned down casual, rain coat and jeans
with no trademarked makers. For the woman, she
would need casual clothes for the start of the film.
But then later on, she would need suitable
nightwear for filming.
7. Overall VisionThe overall vision for our music video is to show a
narrative which shows the regret after a break-up
and the love story of a couple getting back
together.
We want it to look conventional of it’s genre and
conventional as a music video, for example cutting
on the beat is effective in doing so and like any
other video we want it to hold audience’s attention
making the video interesting to watch.
To conclude we want our video to be successful in
clearly and easily showing the narrative we’ve
initially thought up.
