QUESTIONS ANSWERED: What does SharePoint provide in Microsoft 365?
In Microsoft 365, SharePoint powers content collaboration and the intelligent workplace. SharePoint provides:
[For most audiences, do not mention other apps or features as it turns the discussion into an app/brand soup. But some technical audiences may want the detail.]
File sharing and content collaboration. Wherever you share and work with files in Microsoft 365, [including Teams and OneDrive,] SharePoint stores, manages, and secures your content [with integrations across Microsoft Graph, Microsoft Search and information protection].
Shared data and business process solutions. SharePoint enables you to work together with shared data [using SharePoint lists and libraries], streamline workflows, and create solutions to business processes
Communications and employee experiences. SharePoint also empowers you to transform employee engagement by delivering rich communications and digital employee experiences [with sites, pages, news and, soon, mixed reality spaces]
Knowledge sharing and discovery. The intelligent workplace connects people with content, expertise, insights and answers. SharePoint [experiences and integrations with Yammer, Microsoft Stream and Microsoft Search] empowers people to share knowledge broadly, and for that knowledge to be discovered and reused across the organization.
Security and governance. SharePoint’s intelligent content services integrate with Microsoft 365 information protection capabilities to empower you to manage security and compliance.
Customization and extensibility. And while SharePoint delivers all of these capabilities out-of-the-box, it also provides a platform for anyone to customize SharePoint and extend its capabilities, whether you’re a “solutionist” (“citizen developer” or “power user”) [creating a no-code app with column and view formatting, custom forms, connected web parts, PowerApps and Flow)or a professional developer [building customizations using the SharePoint Framework]
This slide is the MARKETECTURE slide.
If used, it should follow the SHAREPOINT CORE CAPABILITIES slide.
Use this slide to discuss:
SharePoint as a service, powering experiences across Microsoft 365
SharePoint content components
SharePoint integration with M365 services and capabilities
These experiences must be
Simple, so that anyone can create sites, pages, and content; and simple for IT to govern
Accessible, not only to be inclusive for people with accessibility needs, but also accessible from anywhere, on any device
Secure, so that organizations can protect sensitive information and maintain compliance without adding undue friction to collaboration and communication
Integrated, bringing content and services from across your organization together; and surfacing the employee experiences you build not only in a web browser, but directly into the apps that people use in their workstreams
Intelligent, to help you make sense of the vast information stream that you face every day; helping you to spot opportunities, address challenges, make decisions, and take actions faster.
Extensible, so that you can create solutions to business problems whether you’re an enterprise developer or, like me, a mere mortal with a reasonable fear of brackets and semicolons.

With Flow out of preview, we’ve introduced Flow into OneDrive as a key piece of the interface. OneDrive is the experience of all your files across Office 365 – and Flow is the way to automate anything for your files, and your team’s files.
The Flow button is part of the OneDrive and SHAREPOINT command bar. It’s the easiest place to build new processes. From inside OneDrive, you can browse existing templates such as:
Save Office 365 email attachments to OneDrive for Business
Convert selected file to PDF
Get feedback from your manager for the selected file
Start manager approval for the selected file
Post message to Teams for the selected file
In addition, if you’re looking for more templates, you can browse the full library of templates on the Flow web site – such as posting to Yammer, push notifications, feedback, Outlook tasks, imports from Box and Dropbox, and custom actions. You can build new Flows directly from templates, customize them with additional steps, or build a new Flow from scratch.
User aver 100+ templates (and growing) for common scenarios as a starting point to create your new workflow!

Key points:
Customer profile: With over four decades of proven experience, Seneca Companies prides itself in being a full-service provider of petroleum storage and dispensing systems, environmental consulting, process systems and waste removal, electrical contracting, industrial coating and more.
Challenge: Seneca’s IT Department discovered Confluent’s industrial solutions in the PowerApps Partner Showcase, and reached out to learn more. They were under the gun to improve field service communication and reporting for their Tank Cleaning Division. After receiving job details and a schedule from administrative staff, technicians capture multiple data points and images for a detailed Service Report—previously a four-page PDF per job. Seneca wanted an automated solution that would work on phones or tablets, with SharePoint integration for the office admins. Because service sites are often in remote locations, offline capabilities were a must.
Strategy: Confluent worked directly with Seneca’s IT department to assess specific needs, workflows, and integrations. The PDF Service Report was digitized in PowerApps, with separate environments for technicians and admins.
Results: Just days after receiving a signed contract, Confluent delivered a custom PowerApps solution and remote end user training to meet Seneca’s field service needs. In conjunction with Seneca’s IT department, the app was deployed immediately and is currently in use by roughly 30 tank cleaning technicians and a dozen admins. The company hopes to see improved field service communication and data reporting as well as operational and customer service improvements overall.

We have been modernizing SharePoint business process story for the past two years. We had a very basic PowerApps and Flow integration when we started. Last year, we enabled the custom forms capabilities for lists, and added flows to libraries with the flow launch panel. This year, you will see Flow and PowerApps continue to be weaved throughout different experiences in SharePoint to make it easier for you to get work done.

NASCAR extended data from their SharePoint intranet to trackside and race days around the US with PowerApps.
Let’s look at this famous organization in the U.S. who is using some of these capabilities to transform the sport of car racing. NASCAR runs auto races for a live audience of over 250,000 people and millions on television. Take a look. https://youtu.be/ptbOdlizNkY
