1. It’s hard for me to imagine that more than 30 years have passed since I was thrust into that world in
which I never expected to find myself. Suddenly and unexpectedly at age 19, I was no longer in Yeshiva,
and I had never really given my future Parnassah much thought.
My parents insisted I go to college. I had less than zero interest in doing so, but my parents gave me no
choice. I had no idea what I was doing and I didn’t understand the gravity of the choices I would make
over the subsequent months.
The problem was I had no idea what I wanted to do to earn a Parnassah. I enjoyed history classes in high
school, so I decided on my first day at a State College to become a history major.
If I had been looking for the major that was least likely to lead to a particular profession, I could not
have chosen better than history (and my minor in philosophy was a close second in the category of
education that did not relate to career paths.).
I desperately needed career advice and direction, but I had no idea where to even begin to look. I had
never felt more alone.
Having worked in Career Services at Touro University for the past 15 years, it is clear to me now that
feelings aside, I was far from alone. People frequently make important decision about their future and
their livelihood Al Regel Achas, without proper consideration or receiving expert advice.
That is where the Career and Education Summit comes in. The Summit will bring together the top
experts and career coaches in the Frum world to help people make the most informed decisions about
their future Parnassah.
These are all experts that understand the Frum world and can offer advice and direction tailored for the
unique situations faced by Yeshiva and Kollel men and Frum women. They will also help you assess your
particular skills, strengths and interests and match those with a career path.
The Career and Education Summit was created to give you choices. There will be experts providing
guidance on college, financial aid and career direction in the same room as business mentors and
experts on entrepreneurship, real estate and Klal work.
No one has to make these life -changing decisions alone anymore. The Career and Education Summit will
empower you to make the right choices for you and your future Parnassah.
