3. ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT
1. Lambussie district stakeholder engagement-this brought
together the DoA, DA, EPA, Chiefs, Farmers, CSOs etc to
discuss issues relating to agriculture development in the
district.
2. Identification and training of inputs dealers and seed
growers
2. Sensitized Farmers on the government flagship program such
as planting for food and jobs(PFJ) and the Rearing for Food
and Jobs(RFJ)
3. Held Participatory Scenario Planning(PSP) meeting-this
educate farmers more on the climate change what need be
done to adapt to the severe climatic conditions
4. ACHIEVEMENTS
1. Enhanced the AEA-farmer ratio from 1:6000 to 1:1800 and 236 CBEAs
trained by CARE and linked to department of agriculture in extension
delivery
2. The District Assembly to procure 25000 cashew seedlings for the 200
cashew farmers in the district
3. Over 2000 farmers are growing moringa
4. Inputs are made very accessible to farmers in the communities as
registered input dealers are located in the communities
5. Farmers adopt the production of short term maturing varieties of crops
6. 646 farmers are registered for the PERD
7. The district assembly is committed to release fund for the DoA to
undertake their activities
8. The DoA has increased their planned activities from 23 in 2018 to 32 in
2019.
9. 73 seed growers and 32 inputs dealers
5. WAY FORWARD
1. Assist the Lambussie DA to follow up on the
contractor to speed up with the construction
of the groundnut factory in the district
2. Getting a market for the farmers for their
produce.
