2. Location
• Răchițele is a village in the
Mărgău township, Cluj County,
located in the Apuseni
Mountains near Vatra Dornei
and the Apuseni National Park.
• The Răchițele households are
spread over an area
of approximately 60 square
kilometers along several valleys
(the Răchiţele Valley, the
Stanciului Valley, the Agastău
Valley and the Gingineasa
Valley) and also alongside hills
(the Rășinarului Hill, the Fața
Hill, the Sulița Hill, the Merișor
Hill, the Cucului Hill).
• Banks valleys crossing along
and across the village are lined
wicker which apparently is
named village Cranberries .
3. First documented attestation
• The first documented
attestation of this
settlement in the
Vlădeasa ridge dates
from 1792, when its
first church was built,
the place of worship
was erected near the
location of the current
church in the old
cemetery. Also, the
Răchițele Wooden
Church was built in
1911.
6. The Bride’s Veil
• The most spectacular thing
about this village is it’s
waterfall, the Vălul Miresei
Waterfall (Bride’s Veil
Waterfall) that represents
the center of the whole’s
village activity.
• The villagers live their lives
in harmony with this water
course, youngsters bathing
in it’s waters during
summer and women
washing clothes, animals
drinking in their way to the
pasture.
7. The Bride’s Veil
• Located at an altitude of
1000 meters the Bride's
Veil is a two-stage
cascade having its two
steps totaling a
difference of approx. 30
meters. At the bottom of
the first step there is a
deep hollow with a
diameter of 10 m, which
ensures water dispersion
giving it it’s resemblance
to a veil. In the winter it
forms a wall of ice where
many tourists and locals
can practice climbing .
