Photography Is A Culture, Not Just A Medium
INTRODUCTION
Photography is a culture, not just a medium. Photography has been used as an exploitative tool, an explorative tool, and an artistic tool. A photograph
can be a snapshot of time, a record, a detail, a shift, a perspective, an emotion. In curating photography, I had to learn how to create conversations and
comparisons between images, whilst simultaneously letting each work retain its individuality. There is no one meaning in a photograph. The
intrinsically challenging task was to provide points of entry into the works and elucidate the broad theme of the exhibition, whilst allowing
counter–narratives and alternative readings to exist.
THE PRELIMINARY PROCESS
Working with an established collection – like The University of Auckland Art Collection, curators need to work creatively in order to produce an
exhibition that is both innovative and adequately represents the collection. The University of Auckland Collection includes approximately 140
photographs that are situated around the various campuses and storage facilities. With such a range to choose from, we approached the task in a
practical way. We initially surveyed the works and found a broad theme emerging– images of architecture and nature. Due to the range of locations
housing the pieces, it was important to then establish the works that could be transported to the venue in time, and from these, we selected a more
specific theme.
The Collection was established in 1966 with works from Colin McCahon and

Art Analysis: Less Than Art
Less Than: Art and reductionism and Denise Green: Beyond and Between – A painter's journey. A comparative Essay written by Thomas Brooks,
Benjamin Dutton, Jasmine Smith and Megan Thomason. Collection displays inhibit the ideologies of a singular conceptual premise under the
constraints of the viability and range within the institutions collection, whereas the tasks involved in composing a monographic show, including the
original parameters of an institutionН›s collection, result in further curatorial concerns (George 2015, 39). How does the curatorial rationale and
exhibition design influence the artworks displayed within a collection based exhibition? This essay will critically ... Show more content on

The audience is inclined to take in GreenН›s practice at large rather than gaining a deeper insight into each pieceН›s individual context (George, 2015,
p. 39). Both curators convey their intentions through the connections linking artist, content and context. This revised insight into the artistsН› practice
is transformed due to the associations drawn by the curator and presented to the viewer through the exhibition rationale. The correlation between both
showcasesН› intended premise combined with the curatorsН›selected pieces, assist the viewer in engaging with the artworks in a reinterpreted manner
from their original context. Due to the extensive assortment of practices incorporated in Less Than: Art and Reductionism, the artistsН› intended

capitalism through the use of a financial algorithm depicted in the form of three over–sized gypsum and acrylic polymer letter–forms mounted to the

Why Married American Men Commit Extramarital Affairs
Hypothesis
Because men are more likely to get involved in sexual relationships outside their marriage due to many different factors, I've formulated multiple
hypotheses below:
A.Hypothesis 1 Marital dissatisfaction will be one primary reason for men to cheat on their wives.
B.Hypothesis 2 Being married to the same women for many years, can be another potential reason why men commit extramarital affairs.
C.Hypothesis 3 Working long distance will be a slightly reason why married men are unfaithful.
My hypotheses are connected to the literature that I described above. This is because past researchers in their articles tried to show some possible
reasons that influenced men to be unfaithful towards their wives. For this reason, due to past research I was able to create my own hypothesis about
why married American men commit extramarital affairs. This means American men get involved in extramarital relationships as a result of many
different factors that will influence them to cheat on their wives.
Research Method
My research question is why married American men decide to engage in sexual acts outside of their marriage? I will proceed collecting my primary
data by conducting face to face interviews. My research will be qualitative given that my main goal is to have a deep understanding of why married
American men have extramarital affairs. The data collection method that I will use is face to face interviews. I think interviews are the best data
collection method for my

The Frick Collection And The Met
The Frick Collection and The Met: A Comparison The Frick Collection and The Metropolitan Museum of Art are both very distinct art museums. If
you visit the museums or their online websites, it becomes very apparent that they differ in historical backgrounds, in their curatorial departments, in
the way in which they were founded and then funded and in the collections of art that they house. I visited both museums and it was evident to me
that they bore many differences, and at the same time, they were also similar in some aspects.Historically, the Frick Collection was a private
collection by Henry Clay Frick, who started the collection and housed it in his own home. After his and his wife's death, it was publicly opened as a

However, when I first entered the museum, it felt very dark and it smelled of wood. It gave me the feeling of being at the house when it was up and
running. What I noticed about the way the paintings were displayed was that in each hallway, one painting in every room would appear right in front
of you, which also portrays the value of each of those paintings because of the way they were placed to be seen. (2) Both museums are situated in
'wealthy' areas of New York City and thus indicate that there may be an association between the grandeur of museums and wealth or sophistication.
Another aspect that I found to be very interesting was the way in which each of the museums offered different multimedia formats to facilitate the
visitor's experience with the artwork in display. I noticed that both museums offered applications for smartphones and tablets, free of charge, to assist
the visitors with getting the most possible out of the museum. Visiting a museum can be a very distracting task because there is so much to see and
without a plan or a navigating system that helps you make your way towards the museum, it can be hard to gain something from your visit. Both apps
are accessible to most people and very easy to navigate through. These apps included audio guides, exhibition information, calendars, events and so on.
However, I noticed

Andrew Carnegie: A True Hero
Andrew Carnegie
When people hear the word "Hero," their minds instantly think of characters like spiderman and superman, people in flashy suits saving the damsel
in distress. . . but do we really know the characteristics and true personality of a real hero? A true hero is someone who is admired or looked up to
for the amount of courage they have or their incredible unseen achievements. In order for someone to become a hero, they need to have concern for
others and they need to have the ability to inspire. Andrew Carnegie started off as a poor scottish immigrant, barely making ends meat, but his
ambitious work ethic and discoveries (like the bessemer process) helped him rise from the depths of poverty, to owning one of the largest monopolies...

Carnegie believed that the "most beneficial results were for the community." According to Joseph Fraziers Wall, Carnegie donated over 50 million

men did not. Unlike many others, Carnegie gave a large majority of his money towards building schools, libraries, public buildings, roads and more.
Carnegie wanted to leave a legacy, challenging men of their manhood and condemning the corrupt rich. Unlike many other monopolists, Carnegie

The Pros And Cons Of Re-Thinking Museums
1.2.Re–thinking Museums
The second part of chapter one discusses the ways digitization is changing the face of museums and archives, in terms of the ways they curate device
collections. This unprecedented and continuous shift has left many cultural institutions struggling to adapt and are forcing them to rethink how to
maintain their unique qualities while at the same time adding value. Today, no organization is immune to the disruptions caused by digitization and
technological innovation, forever changing the make–up of cultural institutions, and by extension, film and media museums and archives. There are
new forms of (digital) museums and archives being developed, for instance via the Internet, 'that make use of participatory media to ... Show more

According to Suzane Keene (2004), the essence of the traditional museum – 'as classifier, authoritative holder and producer of knowledge and as source
of the "right" interpretation and view of society through place–based exhibitions – is a building' (p. 3). By contrast, the museum of the future is more
of a process or an experience, moving out into the spaces of the communities it serves. Therefore, a fundamental difference between the traditional
museum and the museum of the 21st century is the type of space used to preserve and present cultural heritage and the modes of access and availability
this space offers. Keene points out to another difference, which has to do with what is central to museums and archives – the object. As the importance
of the meaning of the object and its past grows, so does the need to collect and present the intangible, as well as the tangible. The museum of the future
sharpens its focus on collecting and exhibiting knowledge, rather than simply the object. Furthermore, with the perspective of new technologies, the
process of digitization intensely defines the make–up of the museum of the future. Keene argues that, as inventories and catalogues of collections are
increasingly digitized, 'so they must become available as a single resource, together with related information provided by libraries, archives, sites and
monuments' (p. 4). Additionally, the

Should The Public Heritage Collections Be Done?
Accounting can be done in several different ways and the way it is done may result in consequences for organizational behavior and management. (O
'Hare, n.d.) One issue is the failure of museum to capitalize their collections and report them as assets. According to the Australian Accounting
Standards, annual general–purpose financial reports will be misrepresented if heritage and collections are included as assets. One of the criteria's of an
asset is to bring future economic benefit. The question raised in relation to museum is whether the public heritage collections have any future economic
benefits deriving from the collections which is economic to the museum? These arguments are very extensive and many museums can argue about the
fact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, the asset must provide future economic benefit. Secondly, the reporting entity must control the future economic benefits in such a way that it
can enjoy the benefit and prevent others to benefit from it. Finally, the transaction or event giving rise to the control must have occurred. (Aasb.gov.au,
n.d.)
However, an asset is only recognized as per AASB 116 in financial statement if it is probable that the future benefits from the asset will eventuate
and if the item has a cost or value that can be measured. (Leo, Hoggett & Sweeting, 2012) The term probable is means the like for the future benefit
is higher than less likely to happen. An element will be considered as an asset only if it satisfy the probability of providing future benefits.
(Aasb.gov.au, n.d.) An item will usually have a cost or value to use to measure reliably. Themeasurement of asset is made at its cost and appropriate
measurement basis will be based upon model of accounting being applied. (Aasb.gov.au, n.d.) Items that so not have a cost or cannot be measured
reliably cannot be considered as an asset. (Aasb.gov.au, n.d.)
Museum and art collections include items such as work of arts, books, manuscripts, artefacts and collectables which are held for their cultural or
historical significance. These items are either acquired at no or nominal cost. Therefore, they are measured at fair value. (Anao.gov.au, 2015) In some
cases where we cannot define the fair value of these items, they cannot

Where Sweatshops Are a Dream
Rhetorical Analysis
"Where Sweatshops Are A Dream" In his New York Times opinion column, "Where Sweatshops Are a Dream", writer Nicholas D. Kristof uses his
experience living in East Asia to argue his positive outlook on sweatshops. Kristof wants to persuade his audience, Obama and his team, along with
others who are for "labor standards", that the best way to help people in poor countries is to promote manufacturing there, not campaign against them.
He uses Phnom Penh as an example to show why working in the sweatshops is a dream for the families there. They would rather work at a sweatshop
than stay in the dangerous garbage dump, searching for something to recycle for change. The writer establishes credibility through his experience ...

This affirms his solution, which is to promote manufacturing in poor countries. In the third paragraph of his argument he used figurative language to
really describe the horrible conditions these families in Phnom Penh lived in. Kristof used both metaphors and alliteration to really give the audience
clear visuals of the garbage dump. One of the metaphors is, "It's a mountain of festering refuse", which translates to piles of rotting wastes. By writing
metaphorically it creates a much more vivid and exaggerated image in our mind. Another metaphor he used was, "The miasma of toxic stink..."
(Paragraph 3, pg. 109) which vividly describes the harmful vapors from the decomposing garbage. Continuing that last sentence "... toxic stink leaves
you gasping, breezes batter you with filth, and even the rats look forlorn" (paragraph 3, pg. 109 in), is an example of alliteration. These visual
statements (metaphors and alliteration) help Kristof convince his audience that sweatshops are a better option, a way out of poverty. Throughout
Kristof's argument he appeals to both logic and emotions. One example of logos is when he talks about how he was asked if he would want to work
in a sweatshop. Of course his answer was no, but he then says he would rather do that then pull a rickshaw. This displays logic because even though a
job at a sweatshop is not

The Patterns Of Individuals Past Events Essay
To explore and probe the patterns of individuals past events, my research will consist of interviewing twenty urban residents in the city of Oakland. I
would listen to individual's experiences and stories about the discrimination these individuals have faced. From the interviews and surveys, I will focus
on three primary themes, which are social differences, racial discrimination, and health disparities. Anticipating from these abstract principles
contributes to the following idea on: the differences placed upon discrimination amongst people of darker skin tone, and the serious health effects of
these African American people.
To many, health disparities amongst different races may appear like an extraneous matter. But, it has come to seriously affect the lives of African
Americans. Williams (MMWR 2005, Williams 1995) noted that African Americans suffer a higher rate of health related issues. "Today, African
Americans still bear a disproportionate burden in disease morbidity, mortality, disability, and injury" (MMWR 2005, Williams 1995). The shocking
statement adds to the health issues they suffer: heart disease, diabetes, and obesity, which is a critical factor for African Americans. Additional findings
from (Krieger, Rowley, Herman, Avery, & Phillips 1993) address how other factors such as: ones socioeconomic status (SES),race, and gender,
concludes to the differences of health risks for individuals (Krieger, Rowley, Herman, Avery, & Phillips, 1993). The differences of a

Andrew Carnegie : Reckless Endangerment Or Greed?
The Gilded Age of America was a time of rich businessmen, and poor immigrants. Cigars rolled in one hundred dollar bills, food picked up off the
street. These ideas would only be emphasised as the "big business" would be introduced to America. The CEOS that let their businesses would
ultimately be either praised for their contributions to society, or hated for their greed. Men such as Rockefeller, JP Morgan, andAndrew Carnegie.
Carnegie was the first man to ever mass produce steel. Steel would help to fuel the industrialization of America. Not to mention that his constant
philanthropic efforts, in where he would donate over 350 million dollars to libraries and schools to help educate the poor. However, his workers
complained of extremely low wages. Based on the information in the mock trial and outside research, Andrew Carnegie should not be guilty of,
reckless endangerment and greed; however, he can be charged guilty with the crime of hypocrisy. Carnegie should be considered as one of the most
accomplished captains of industry. The idea that Andrew Carnegie should be guilty of the crime of reckless endangerment is not right. The only reason
why Andrew Carnegie is being charged with the crime of reckless endangerment is because of theHomestead Strike. During the strike, twelve workers
and nine pinkerton guards would be killed, and many other people injured. However, at the time Andrew Carnegie was in Scotland, attending to family

Jean–Antoine Houdon lived between 1741 to 1828 and produced this statue in 1775. The statue is made of marble and is 31.5 x 17 x 12.5 in size. The

surrounding statues. Even though the statue is made of marble a viewer could see the undulation of her curls, which frames her face very well.
Houdon statue has a very smooth face and the statue hollows in and out in the right places of a real face. In addition, the eyes of the statue have the

The History Of Modern Corporate Collection
In the 1988, one year after Black Monday when Don Jones Industrial Average fell nearly 23 percent in a single day, Art & Auction the international
art market journal published its annual edition with the troubling headline: "Is Corporate Collecting Dead?". Almost 20 years later, the financial
crisis made hundreds of bankers lose their jobs, and the image of people moving out their offices can still be recalled even today, and the same
question aroused again. The same questions may appear again and again in the future, but as an essential part of world of art collecting, corporate
collecting won't die in the eyes of most people in the field.
The brief history of modern corporate collection
It is hard to chase back to the origin of the art patronage, since it is nearly as old as art itself, but the shift from a model dating from the
Renaissance, in which leaders of industry used the fruits of their labor to purchase or commission superlative art either for their private residences or
for the benefit of the public (or of God and the Church), is surprisingly recent. So it's essential to isolate "modern" corporate collecting from other
great but older tradition such as hanging decorative pieces and portraits of founders and other core members to embellish a boardroom or showcase the
firm's position or reputation.
Modern corporate collecting began in nineteenth century in the United States as a movement to preserve the records, memorabilia, and products of a
company.

The And Behavioral Outcomes After The Delivery Of Instruc...
In order to effectively measure the specific behavioral outcomes after delivery of instruc–tion is made via digital media devices, I will be using
qualitative methods such as, observations and a focus group, to assess the gains being made, and the behavioral outcomes that occur direct–ly after
technology has been used by the student. Since autism is a communication disorder it will be difficult to directly interview the participants. Therefore,
I will ask a simple yes/no question such as, "did you like it" to the participants and record each individuals answer. It is difficult to determine what
changes will need to be made until the study is underway.
Data Collection
The primary data collection method of this study is observations. I intend to reflect on my own beliefs daily, in order to remain as objective as
possible. Data collection conducted through observations alone can produce filtered results based on the perspective of the observer. That is one of the
issues that I anticipate to arise when conducting data collection. That is why recon–naissance will be a necessary task before and after collecting
observational data. With a concrete definition of the term behavioral outcomes and daily reconnaissance, I believe this will provide me with an
adequate checks and balances and data management system for my research. Accord–ing to Gay, Mills, & Airasian, "By observing the classes, you will

Cultural Relevance, Understanding And Education
Cultural relevance, understanding and education are the key areas that modern museums seem to be addressing seriously. As a public institution a
museum must consider its role in society, the way culture is represented and displayed and most of all, how interpretation affects those not of museum
training backgrounds, for example a visitor or patron. Some would argue that art, is an expression of a culture and its political and economic values
(Hein 2006), while others would suggest that is the artifacts of long lost peoples and cultures that have the most worth to the public (Sabeti 2015).
The mixture of these two mediums seems like an obvious step in achieving reinterpretation, presenting political messages, and displaying the

(Stam 1993). One way this may be interpreted is that a shift towards a more open, interactive style of museum exhibition should be the starting point of
exhibition planning and execution.
The discussions and in some cases successful installations of eco museums for example, represent the ever shifting and changing people and cultures,
instead of the static and non–changed ancient cultural heritage of forgotten civilizations and their material culture. The eco museum provides no
exclusion of peoples or histories. With some limited success in exposing the cultures of ever changing people and customs to a larger audience in
eco–museums, other historical institutions have frankly missed the mark. "The 'new museology' started with the intention of introducing a new
philosophy around how museums function and a changed relationships between museums and their societies and communities" (McCall and Gray
2014).
The framework suggested in the museology based on how a new function of museums can be achieved, really leaves one to ponder just how effective
the application of literature surrounding these ideas can actually be when put into practice. There is no clear checklist of steps to achieve such a
change in the framework and context of a museum as an educational institution, as a cultural reference or as an open public forum, so the missing
re–interpretation can sometimes be taken on by an

Summary Of The Les Standiford 's Twin Biography Of Both...
O'Neaka Rendon History 1302 Standiford, Les. Meet You in Hell: Andrew Carnegie, Henry clay Frick, and the bitter partnership that transformed
America. New York: Crown Publishers, 2005. Meet You in Hell is the Les Standiford's twin biography of both Henry Clay Frick and Andrew
Carnegie. As highlighted by Standiford, both had a similar background. Both of them began their lives as clerks, but to begin amassing riches, they
made use of the business connections they had made during their lowly clerk jobs. According to Standiford, the two men embodied the worst and the
worst of American capitalism. The book provides an argument of the relationship that existed between the two founders of the American industry.
Standiford raises up the danger and majesty of steel manufacturing, the rough and tumbles of the 19th century's big business, and the tense relationship
between the ruthless coke magnate and the world's richest man. The dramatic centerpiece of the dual biography is the bloody clash which exists
between imported Pinkerton (detectives) and striking steel workers at the homestead of Carnegie's, in July 1892. During the battle, fourteen people
died, and much more were injured. The story of Andrew and Henry is one of the most fascinating stories about relationships; the man who endowed
many libraries, and the man who created one of the greatest museums who turn out to be jerks in very different ways as discussed in the essay.
According to Standiford, the two pulled

Essay On Dumpster Diving By Lars Eighner
In today's society, there is an abundance of waste. This is clear in observing how people live, we often throw out items because we want something
better. Lars Eighner, author of "On Dumpster Diving," writes about his experiences being homeless and how he survived on the waste of others. This
provides insight on how the phrase "one man's trash is another man's treasure," is true. Jeremy Seifert, who directed the documentary Dive!, also talks
about how he survives off of other people's waste, but this was a decision he made. As they tell of their experiences, Seifert and Eighner both come to
the conclusion that society is wasteful. While both individuals provided good information, I believe Seifert presented the better argument. Both of...

Within the first four paragraphs, Eighner managed to alter the reader's perception of the lifestyle he lives. The indignancy that he displayed when he
was asked, "'Do you think these crackers are really safe to eat?'," also shows us that he takes pride in dumpster diving. So much so that he gets angry
when someone questions the safety of his food. His pride and in–your–face–intelligence makes his paper less effective, in my opinion, because it makes
him seem arrogant. Eighner's argument was not as effective as it could have been because he focused more on defending himself personally instead of
presenting the reader with more information on the issue. Had Eighner shifted his attention more towards the issue of food waste and society, rather
than focusing on defending himself, he would have been more effective in his writing.
In Dive!, Seifert also defends his lifestyle, but for reasons different from Eighner. He does not do it to avoid judgement of his life, but rather to bring
attention to the problem that his documentary is trying to highlight. The way that he defends his life, however, does affect the effectiveness of his
film. He presents himself in a very good light; he shows himself helping food banks and confronting local grocery stores to deal with the wasted food,
but the way that he went about it was a little strange. He often put people on the spot by bringing a camera with him to

Argumentative Essay On Waste Culture
"Mom, just give me your plate when you're done eating," I say to my mother as she eats the last few pieces of salad on her plate. "Why are you
going to eat on a used plate when you can take another one?" my aunt inquires from behind as she hands me a clean plate. "By the way their the
disposable ones" she mentions as I sit down with the burden of another failed attempt at avoiding wasteful habits. Although I appreciated her sense of
hospitality, her oblivious gesture had forced me to reflect on one of the most pressing issues facing the planet today, which was ironically also the one
least discussed by average people. Waste buildup or the cause of major pollution, severe health problems and safety issues of the millions living in
poverty have remained an issue in the past century due to a major divide in the definition. For approximately half of the world's population, the word
"waste", can be defined as "its disposal is not an issue". For the other half, "waste', is a constant reminder that "the conditions they face will forever be
only their issue". One may argue that waste culture is a direct result of the prosperity of the industrial revolution, the obsession with "untouched"
hygienic food in the Victorian era or the media's constant ingraining of "disposable items" as a symbol of class, convenience and freedom. However,
the primary impact of these turning points lies in the precedent they set for waste management. One that is expanding its scope from local to global

Behavioral Assessments : A Behavioral Assessment
A behavioral assessment is a research–based approach to understanding the antecedents, behavioral components and consequences of observable
behaviors using various unbiased assessment methods. The major focus of behavioral assessments is to be able to measure individual changes, identify
circumstances that direct problematic behaviors and better comprehend individualistic occurrences. Behavioral assessments can be either direct or
indirect measures of behavior. Some examples of indirect behavior assessments would be self–report interviews, questionnaires and rating scales.
Indirect behavioral assessments are less time consuming but they may not be as effective since they are personal recollections of past occurrences.
Direct assessment behaviors would be self–monitoring, behavioral observations and the experimental control of specific variables to test a hypothesis.
This type of assessment is great for obtaining an abundance of information but it is also time consuming and requires a well–trained observational staff.
Targets of direct behavioral assessments methods include observing individual behaviors first hand and understanding the connection between the
individual and their environment. Direct behavioral assessments also allow the observer to establish behavior chains and record changes in behavior
over time. Targets of indirect behavioral assessments are more likely to determine psychological thoughts though various questions given during a
survey or interview.

Collections in a Museum Essay
'Imagine you were in charge of a museum's collecting policy. What would you chose to collect and how would you justify these decisions?'
Introduction Collections play a crucial role in fulfilling a museum's mission and purpose. A museum's collection is defined by its collection policy past
and present which in turn helps to shape the museum's goals and direction. As stewards of collections, museums are expected to maintain the highest
professional standards legally and ethically. The development of written policies are necessary to govern the management of collections and to

A mission statement helps guide priorities and decision–making. Assessment must be done to determine the current strengths and weaknesses of the
existing collection. Any proposed acquisitions should be able to address the limits in the existing collection or plug any gaps in the collection. The
acquisition strategy should ensure that objects to be accepted or otherwise acquired for museum collection shall enhance and reflect the immediate and
long term goals of the museum. The focus of acquisitions should be to address conspicuous weakness in the current collection. At the National
Museum of Singapore, one of the conspicuous weaknesses includes objects which represent the minority communities in Singapore, hence the need to
acquire artefacts that address this gap. The current collection is insufficient for presenting a balanced and objective narrative on the subject. The
museum will strive to acquire artefacts and specimens that generally are complete and in good condition, and for which provenance is well
documented regarding its history. All potential acquisitions must be thoroughly researched in regards to their provenance, including proof of
ownership prior to acquisition. Acquisitions must not violate any international laws or conventions and rights of the country. The Museum should only
acquire if it has the resources to provide for storage, protection and preservation of the objects under conditions that assure their

Garbage Cleanup Can Be Dangerous
Throughout the United States, many people litter and contribute to the trash on the sides of the roads on a daily basis. It is extremely important to
pick up trash since trash can be dangerous to our safety, our wildlife, and our economy. Aquatic debris can be threatening to common activities
such as swimming and fishing. Wildlife are harmed every day, because they consider plastic and litter as food or get stuck in ropes. The United
States thrives on the recreation and tourism industries, which can be harmed by the great amounts of trash on roads and popular areas in towns.
Picking up trash is an extremely important act that can help people take action against pollution and see the various kinds of trash that are present
on sidewalks. Individuals often do not realize just how dangerous or prevalent trash is until they experience and collect it firsthand. Trash cleanup
can also educate people on the different types of litter such as cigarettes, food wrappers, caps, and lids. A major advantage to a project like collecting
trash is that it can incorporate children and youth; there is not a specific age when individuals can start picking up trash and contributing to a cleaner
city. The practice encourages young people to be more aware of the choices they make and use their ability to constantly recycle and reuse items that
they do not use anymore. Garbage falls into two broad categories. The first, Total SolidWaste (TSW) is the aggregate amount of solid waste produced

Waste Disposal Of The United States
Waste disposal in the United States is a vast and complicated enterprise. From the handling of regular household trash to hazardous, toxic waste
materials, a great deal of infrastructure is required in order to best store and transport such materials in a way that does not conflict with communities.
However, in point of fact, there is a great deal of trouble with the current waste–management systems of the United States: from destructive ecological
effects to humanitarian concerns in low/under–privileged neighborhoods in America, there is a lot to consider when it comes to the topic of waste
disposal in cities of the United States. That being the case, the following will proceed to address a myriad of issues affecting waste disposal systems
in the United States, starting with general information about American's usage of waste disposal systems, followed by environmental effects and the
role of the Environmental Protection Agency (or EPA) in addressing these issues. ==================== First, let us look at some basic statistics
about the American's use of waste disposal systems. According to the EPA, "In 2013, Americans generated about 254 million tons of trash and
recycled and composted about 87 million tons of this material, equivalent to a 34.3 percent recycling rate. On average, we recycled and composted
1.51 pounds of our individual waste generation of 4.40 pounds per person per day (epa.gov, 2015)." On the whole, American's produce a great deal of

In this paper I am going to talk about how Henry Clay Frick was an important man to our history and some things that he contributed. Not only was he a
successful industrialist, but an art patron and a philanthropist. He was one of the most important people that helped put Pittsburgh on the map.
It all started in a small town in Westmoreland county called West Overton. He was born in 1849 into a wealthy family not his parents but his
grandfather had some money. His grandfather was Abraham Overholt, who was a wealthy ryewhiskey distiller. As he was growing up his grandfather

It started because Carnegie wanted to eliminate the unions in his mills, but Frick supported actions that setback the labor movement for decades. The
Homestead Works strike didn't look good for Carnegie because of the death and violence, which had happened, and he tried to avoid any connections
with him. The two kept disputing each other which led to Frick resigning form the company in 1899(Warren, 1996).
After the violence at Homestead, Alexander Berkmann, attempted to assassinate Henry Clay Frick in his second floor office in Downtown Pittsburgh.
While recovering from his attack at his home his son Clayton died shortly after birth. Frick also didn't have much public support after the Homestead
violence. However after these to instances he gained public sympathy (Warren, 1996).
After his near death experience and fall out with Carnegie Steel Company he continued his business interests in Pittsburgh, New York, and other cities.
He formed the St. Clair Steel Company in 1900, with the largest coke works in the world in Clairton. He then played a major role in the formation of
United States Steel Corporation, after Carnegie sold his interests in the Carnegie Steel Company in 1901. He then began investing in a large real estate

The driving force behind the research article is the question "What issues Ngaanyatjarra women would like to see resolved in the area of antenatal and

On the other hand, it is challenging to distinguish between the studies which form a historical and cultural context around birthing issues in Aboriginal
women and the literature that led the researchers to formulate the specific research question. It would have been better to separate these for their
attributing purposes.
Nevertheless, a framework is established between a previous study conducted in 1989 and the research about to be undertaken. For instance, in the
background section of the article, Simmonds et al refers to Rawlings and West's (1989) work who outlined the concerns Ngaanyatjarra women had over
travelling to town to birth. This particular reference leads the investigators to clearly convey the main purpose of the study to the reader; to formally
document Ngaanyatjarra women's concern regarding antenatal and birthing services.
Overall, all articles reviewed by Simmonds et al (2012) led them to support the need to provide culturally appropriate maternity services to Aboriginal
women and led the investigators to underpin a research question that I considered feasible, interesting, ethical and relevant to midwifery and obstetric
practice.

Andrew Carnegie 's Impact On The Industrial Revolution
In the movie, The Richest Man in the World, Andrew Carnegie played a major role in influencing the Industrial Revolution, which changed the
economy of the US and the world forever. This era brought upon significant changes through economic developments that would not only change the
ways of the economy but also the social aspect of society, especially within the cities where this growth was located. The shift from hand–made to
machine–made products increased productivity and decreased costs. Through the innovations of the new forms of energy, such as iron, and then steel,
establishments of factories began, competition between businessmen arose, and innovations of transportation in the city through railroads and bridges

It also made production easier, faster, and cheaper since workers made an abundant of products within a short amount of time.Mass production in
factories was possible because of the invention of machineries, leading to products being made without costing businesses as much money compared

news for individuals who owned their own small stores.
On the other hand, because of the establishment of factories by businessmen, the workers ' lives became hard as they faced unfair working conditions
in dirty and small working places. They worked long hours with no break. The machines used in factories were also very dangerous and led to workers

Medical Billing : The Pros And Cons Of Medical Billing
Medical billing in and of itself can be a complex and sensitive subject. While some patients are able to easily pay their medical bills, some have a
harder time. At some point, places that offer medical care will encounter patients either unable or unwilling to pay their medical bills, and eventually
these fees will need to have action taken in order to collect them. The two ways that medical facilities can choose from to collect their patients'
delinquent bills are either in–house collections or outsourced third party collection (TPC) companies. This paper will address the pros and cons of
each as well as a personal recommendation as to what makes the most sense from my own point of view. In–house third party collection functions may,
at first, seem like a better solution. It surely has its upsides for several reasons, but the most important to me is patient satisfaction. When a patient is
delinquent on their bills, it is more often due to the fact they are unable to pay the fees–not usually due to forgetfulness. Having a debt collector calling
patients day in and day out may make the patient feel even worse about the shame they already feel. Having an in–house collection system may make
the patient feel less pressured and more like their care is being thought about as second to the fees they owe due to the personal feel. Those calling to
collect are people they've seen before, and will probably seem much more understanding. The in–house function is also helps

to the one behind the mall can get busy and is very dangerous at night if one is not careful. Adding Shopper's World being added as a destination
shuttle's route would be beneficial to the students taking it because there are so many stores in the shopping area. Therefore, it would limit the amount
of time and money a student will spend on going to multiple stores via uber or public transportation. Another location that the shuttle should go to is
Target; target is a store that every college student should have at their disposal, since it is a store that has everything a college student uses in their daily
lives. Another flaw in Regis' transportation system is that the shuttle does not come to and from Regis frequent enough. Although Framingham State
has a bigger population, their shuttle comes frequent enough to support all of its students. The inconvenient times our Regis shuttle is available is at
times where it is difficult for students to enjoy a

Photography Is A Culture, Not Just A Medium

  • 1. Photography Is A Culture, Not Just A Medium INTRODUCTION Photography is a culture, not just a medium. Photography has been used as an exploitative tool, an explorative tool, and an artistic tool. A photograph can be a snapshot of time, a record, a detail, a shift, a perspective, an emotion. In curating photography, I had to learn how to create conversations and comparisons between images, whilst simultaneously letting each work retain its individuality. There is no one meaning in a photograph. The intrinsically challenging task was to provide points of entry into the works and elucidate the broad theme of the exhibition, whilst allowing counter–narratives and alternative readings to exist. THE PRELIMINARY PROCESS Working with an established collection – like The University of Auckland Art Collection, curators need to work creatively in order to produce an exhibition that is both innovative and adequately represents the collection. The University of Auckland Collection includes approximately 140 photographs that are situated around the various campuses and storage facilities. With such a range to choose from, we approached the task in a practical way. We initially surveyed the works and found a broad theme emerging– images of architecture and nature. Due to the range of locations housing the pieces, it was important to then establish the works that could be transported to the venue in time, and from these, we selected a more specific theme. The Collection was established in 1966 with works from Colin McCahon and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. A Brief Note On Toit Ж’в„ў Otago Settlers Museum Essay Overview of the Organisation ToitЕ« Otago Settlers Museum (TOSM) is a regional museum that focuses on the history of the early settlers to Otago. As New Zealand's first great city, Dunedin holds a lot of history and was one of the main settlement sites of New Zealand. ToitЕ« is considered a Dunedin City Council facility and underwent a redevelopment several years ago. The museum reopened its doors in December of 2012 and has since seen a large increase of visitor numbers in comparison to the 'old' museum. Kiri Griffin – Collections Manager Job Description Kiri Griffin is currently the Collections Manager of ToitЕ«; and as a member of the ToitЕ« Otago Settlers MuseumManagement Team she oversees collections, conservation, and archives, whilst supporting the work of exhibitions, visitor experience, and communications and operations. Key responsibilities of the collections manager include managing the Museum 's collections team, developing and implementing collection policies and procedures to ensure the long term preservation and access to the Museum collections. The official "position purpose" in the job description states: The Collections Manager is a member of the ToitЕ« Otago Settlers Museum (TOSM) Management Team and is responsible for the care and safety of all of the Museum's collections, including the Archives collection. The job holder will manage all aspects of the collection management systems, policies and procedures, including facilitating access to the collections ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Art Analysis: Less Than Art Less Than: Art and reductionism and Denise Green: Beyond and Between – A painter's journey. A comparative Essay written by Thomas Brooks, Benjamin Dutton, Jasmine Smith and Megan Thomason. Collection displays inhibit the ideologies of a singular conceptual premise under the constraints of the viability and range within the institutions collection, whereas the tasks involved in composing a monographic show, including the original parameters of an institutionН›s collection, result in further curatorial concerns (George 2015, 39). How does the curatorial rationale and exhibition design influence the artworks displayed within a collection based exhibition? This essay will critically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The audience is inclined to take in GreenН›s practice at large rather than gaining a deeper insight into each pieceН›s individual context (George, 2015, p. 39). Both curators convey their intentions through the connections linking artist, content and context. This revised insight into the artistsН› practice is transformed due to the associations drawn by the curator and presented to the viewer through the exhibition rationale. The correlation between both showcasesН› intended premise combined with the curatorsН›selected pieces, assist the viewer in engaging with the artworks in a reinterpreted manner from their original context. Due to the extensive assortment of practices incorporated in Less Than: Art and Reductionism, the artistsН› intended meaning is adapted to fulfil the premise of the exhibition. This is evident in Daniel McKewenН›s Kafka On the Shore (2014) which explores capitalism through the use of a financial algorithm depicted in the form of three over–sized gypsum and acrylic polymer letter–forms mounted to the wall (QUT 2016). The conceptual premise of the work is hidden from the viewer once placed within the context of the rationale, reductionism. At first the viewer can visually relate this work to the premise of the exhibition due to its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Why Married American Men Commit Extramarital Affairs Hypothesis Because men are more likely to get involved in sexual relationships outside their marriage due to many different factors, I've formulated multiple hypotheses below: A.Hypothesis 1 Marital dissatisfaction will be one primary reason for men to cheat on their wives. B.Hypothesis 2 Being married to the same women for many years, can be another potential reason why men commit extramarital affairs. C.Hypothesis 3 Working long distance will be a slightly reason why married men are unfaithful. My hypotheses are connected to the literature that I described above. This is because past researchers in their articles tried to show some possible reasons that influenced men to be unfaithful towards their wives. For this reason, due to past research I was able to create my own hypothesis about why married American men commit extramarital affairs. This means American men get involved in extramarital relationships as a result of many different factors that will influence them to cheat on their wives. Research Method My research question is why married American men decide to engage in sexual acts outside of their marriage? I will proceed collecting my primary data by conducting face to face interviews. My research will be qualitative given that my main goal is to have a deep understanding of why married American men have extramarital affairs. The data collection method that I will use is face to face interviews. I think interviews are the best data collection method for my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Frick Collection And The Met The Frick Collection and The Met: A Comparison The Frick Collection and The Metropolitan Museum of Art are both very distinct art museums. If you visit the museums or their online websites, it becomes very apparent that they differ in historical backgrounds, in their curatorial departments, in the way in which they were founded and then funded and in the collections of art that they house. I visited both museums and it was evident to me that they bore many differences, and at the same time, they were also similar in some aspects.Historically, the Frick Collection was a private collection by Henry Clay Frick, who started the collection and housed it in his own home. After his and his wife's death, it was publicly opened as a museum in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, when I first entered the museum, it felt very dark and it smelled of wood. It gave me the feeling of being at the house when it was up and running. What I noticed about the way the paintings were displayed was that in each hallway, one painting in every room would appear right in front of you, which also portrays the value of each of those paintings because of the way they were placed to be seen. (2) Both museums are situated in 'wealthy' areas of New York City and thus indicate that there may be an association between the grandeur of museums and wealth or sophistication. Another aspect that I found to be very interesting was the way in which each of the museums offered different multimedia formats to facilitate the visitor's experience with the artwork in display. I noticed that both museums offered applications for smartphones and tablets, free of charge, to assist the visitors with getting the most possible out of the museum. Visiting a museum can be a very distracting task because there is so much to see and without a plan or a navigating system that helps you make your way towards the museum, it can be hard to gain something from your visit. Both apps are accessible to most people and very easy to navigate through. These apps included audio guides, exhibition information, calendars, events and so on. However, I noticed ... • 6. Andrew Carnegie: A True Hero Andrew Carnegie When people hear the word "Hero," their minds instantly think of characters like spiderman and superman, people in flashy suits saving the damsel in distress. . . but do we really know the characteristics and true personality of a real hero? A true hero is someone who is admired or looked up to for the amount of courage they have or their incredible unseen achievements. In order for someone to become a hero, they need to have concern for others and they need to have the ability to inspire. Andrew Carnegie started off as a poor scottish immigrant, barely making ends meat, but his ambitious work ethic and discoveries (like the bessemer process) helped him rise from the depths of poverty, to owning one of the largest monopolies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Oxford University Press, Carnegie gave over 350,600,000 dollars to various schools and institutions promoting education.Carnegie was a giving man with honest morals. In Andrew Carnegie's, Wealth, they explain how Carnegie believed that the "man who dies rich dies disgraced." This quote from Carnegie explains how he believed people should spend their fortunes on things to advance and make society greater. Carnegie believed that the "most beneficial results were for the community." According to Joseph Fraziers Wall, Carnegie donated over 50 million towards free public libraries. He believed that people should work and not inherit their money. Carnegie gave back to our country where most rich men did not. Unlike many others, Carnegie gave a large majority of his money towards building schools, libraries, public buildings, roads and more. Carnegie wanted to leave a legacy, challenging men of their manhood and condemning the corrupt rich. Unlike many other monopolists, Carnegie shared his wealth with the people, in order to make our society an overall better atmosphere. • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Re-Thinking Museums 1.2.Re–thinking Museums The second part of chapter one discusses the ways digitization is changing the face of museums and archives, in terms of the ways they curate device collections. This unprecedented and continuous shift has left many cultural institutions struggling to adapt and are forcing them to rethink how to maintain their unique qualities while at the same time adding value. Today, no organization is immune to the disruptions caused by digitization and technological innovation, forever changing the make–up of cultural institutions, and by extension, film and media museums and archives. There are new forms of (digital) museums and archives being developed, for instance via the Internet, 'that make use of participatory media to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Suzane Keene (2004), the essence of the traditional museum – 'as classifier, authoritative holder and producer of knowledge and as source of the "right" interpretation and view of society through place–based exhibitions – is a building' (p. 3). By contrast, the museum of the future is more of a process or an experience, moving out into the spaces of the communities it serves. Therefore, a fundamental difference between the traditional museum and the museum of the 21st century is the type of space used to preserve and present cultural heritage and the modes of access and availability this space offers. Keene points out to another difference, which has to do with what is central to museums and archives – the object. As the importance of the meaning of the object and its past grows, so does the need to collect and present the intangible, as well as the tangible. The museum of the future sharpens its focus on collecting and exhibiting knowledge, rather than simply the object. Furthermore, with the perspective of new technologies, the process of digitization intensely defines the make–up of the museum of the future. Keene argues that, as inventories and catalogues of collections are increasingly digitized, 'so they must become available as a single resource, together with related information provided by libraries, archives, sites and monuments' (p. 4). Additionally, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Should The Public Heritage Collections Be Done? Accounting can be done in several different ways and the way it is done may result in consequences for organizational behavior and management. (O 'Hare, n.d.) One issue is the failure of museum to capitalize their collections and report them as assets. According to the Australian Accounting Standards, annual general–purpose financial reports will be misrepresented if heritage and collections are included as assets. One of the criteria's of an asset is to bring future economic benefit. The question raised in relation to museum is whether the public heritage collections have any future economic benefits deriving from the collections which is economic to the museum? These arguments are very extensive and many museums can argue about the fact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, the asset must provide future economic benefit. Secondly, the reporting entity must control the future economic benefits in such a way that it can enjoy the benefit and prevent others to benefit from it. However, an asset is only recognized as per AASB 116 in financial statement if it is probable that the future benefits from the asset will eventuate and if the item has a cost or value that can be measured. (Leo, Hoggett & Sweeting, 2012) The term probable is means the like for the future benefit is higher than less likely to happen. An element will be considered as an asset only if it satisfy the probability of providing future benefits. (Aasb.gov.au, n.d.) An item will usually have a cost or value to use to measure reliably. Items that so not have a cost or cannot be measured reliably cannot be considered as an asset. (Aasb.gov.au, n.d.) Museum and art collections include items such as work of arts, books, manuscripts, artefacts and collectables which are held for their cultural or historical significance. • 14. Where Sweatshops Are a Dream Rhetorical Analysis "Where Sweatshops Are A Dream" In his New York Times opinion column, "Where Sweatshops Are a Dream", writer Nicholas D. Kristof uses his experience living in East Asia to argue his positive outlook on sweatshops. Kristof wants to persuade his audience, Obama and his team, along with others who are for "labor standards", that the best way to help people in poor countries is to promote manufacturing there, not campaign against them. He uses Phnom Penh as an example to show why working in the sweatshops is a dream for the families there. They would rather work at a sweatshop than stay in the dangerous garbage dump, searching for something to recycle for change. The writer establishes credibility through his experience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This affirms his solution, which is to promote manufacturing in poor countries. In the third paragraph of his argument he used figurative language to really describe the horrible conditions these families in Phnom Penh lived in. Kristof used both metaphors and alliteration to really give the audience clear visuals of the garbage dump. One of the metaphors is, "It's a mountain of festering refuse", which translates to piles of rotting wastes. By writing metaphorically it creates a much more vivid and exaggerated image in our mind. Another metaphor he used was, "The miasma of toxic stink..." (Paragraph 3, pg. 109) which vividly describes the harmful vapors from the decomposing garbage. Continuing that last sentence "... toxic stink leaves you gasping, breezes batter you with filth, and even the rats look forlorn" (paragraph 3, pg. 109 in), is an example of alliteration. These visual statements (metaphors and alliteration) help Kristof convince his audience that sweatshops are a better option, a way out of poverty. Throughout Kristof's argument he appeals to both logic and emotions. One example of logos is when he talks about how he was asked if he would want to work in a sweatshop. Of course his answer was no, but he then says he would rather do that then pull a rickshaw. This displays logic because even though a job at a sweatshop is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Patterns Of Individuals Past Events Essay To explore and probe the patterns of individuals past events, my research will consist of interviewing twenty urban residents in the city of Oakland. I would listen to individual's experiences and stories about the discrimination these individuals have faced. From the interviews and surveys, I will focus on three primary themes, which are social differences, racial discrimination, and health disparities. Anticipating from these abstract principles contributes to the following idea on: the differences placed upon discrimination amongst people of darker skin tone, and the serious health effects of these African American people. To many, health disparities amongst different races may appear like an extraneous matter. But, it has come to seriously affect the lives of African Americans. Williams (MMWR 2005, Williams 1995) noted that African Americans suffer a higher rate of health related issues. "Today, African Americans still bear a disproportionate burden in disease morbidity, mortality, disability, and injury" (MMWR 2005, Williams 1995). The shocking statement adds to the health issues they suffer: heart disease, diabetes, and obesity, which is a critical factor for African Americans. Additional findings from (Krieger, Rowley, Herman, Avery, & Phillips 1993) address how other factors such as: ones socioeconomic status (SES),race, and gender, concludes to the differences of health risks for individuals (Krieger, Rowley, Herman, Avery, & Phillips, 1993). The History Of Modern Corporate Collection In the 1988, one year after Black Monday when Don Jones Industrial Average fell nearly 23 percent in a single day, Art & Auction the international art market journal published its annual edition with the troubling headline: "Is Corporate Collecting Dead?". Almost 20 years later, the financial crisis made hundreds of bankers lose their jobs, and the image of people moving out their offices can still be recalled even today, and the same question aroused again. The same questions may appear again and again in the future, but as an essential part of world of art collecting, corporate collecting won't die in the eyes of most people in the field. The brief history of modern corporate collection It is hard to chase back to the origin of the art patronage, since it is nearly as old as art itself, but the shift from a model dating from the Renaissance, in which leaders of industry used the fruits of their labor to purchase or commission superlative art either for their private residences or for the benefit of the public (or of God and the Church), is surprisingly recent. So it's essential to isolate "modern" corporate collecting from other great but older tradition such as hanging decorative pieces and portraits of founders and other core members to embellish a boardroom or showcase the firm's position or reputation. Modern corporate collecting began in nineteenth century in the United States as a movement to preserve the records, memorabilia, and products of a company. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a public institution a museum must consider its role in society, the way culture is represented and displayed and most of all, how interpretation affects those not of museum training backgrounds, for example a visitor or patron. Some would argue that art, is an expression of a culture and its political and economic values (Hein 2006), while others would suggest that is the artifacts of long lost peoples and cultures that have the most worth to the public (Sabeti 2015). The eco museum provides no exclusion of peoples or histories. Meet You in Hell: Andrew Carnegie, Henry clay Frick, and the bitter partnership that transformed America. New York: Crown Publishers, 2005. Meet You in Hell is the Les Standiford's twin biography of both Henry Clay Frick and Andrew Carnegie. As highlighted by Standiford, both had a similar background. Both of them began their lives as clerks, but to begin amassing riches, they made use of the business connections they had made during their lowly clerk jobs. According to Standiford, the two men embodied the worst and the worst of American capitalism. The book provides an argument of the relationship that existed between the two founders of the American industry. Standiford raises up the danger and majesty of steel manufacturing, the rough and tumbles of the 19th century's big business, and the tense relationship between the ruthless coke magnate and the world's richest man. The dramatic centerpiece of the dual biography is the bloody clash which exists between imported Pinkerton (detectives) and striking steel workers at the homestead of Carnegie's, in July 1892. During the battle, fourteen people died, and much more were injured. The story of Andrew and Henry is one of the most fascinating stories about relationships; the man who endowed many libraries, and the man who created one of the greatest museums who turn out to be jerks in very different ways as discussed in the essay. This provides insight on how the phrase "one man's trash is another man's treasure," is true. Jeremy Seifert, who directed the documentary Dive!, also talks about how he survives off of other people's waste, but this was a decision he made. So much so that he gets angry when someone questions the safety of his food. His pride and in–your–face–intelligence makes his paper less effective, in my opinion, because it makes him seem arrogant. Eighner's argument was not as effective as it could have been because he focused more on defending himself personally instead of presenting the reader with more information on the issue. Had Eighner shifted his attention more towards the issue of food waste and society, rather than focusing on defending himself, he would have been more effective in his writing. In Dive!, Seifert also defends his lifestyle, but for reasons different from Eighner. He does not do it to avoid judgement of his life, but rather to bring attention to the problem that his documentary is trying to highlight. The way that he defends his life, however, does affect the effectiveness of his film. Although I appreciated her sense of hospitality, her oblivious gesture had forced me to reflect on one of the most pressing issues facing the planet today, which was ironically also the one least discussed by average people. Waste buildup or the cause of major pollution, severe health problems and safety issues of the millions living in poverty have remained an issue in the past century due to a major divide in the definition. For approximately half of the world's population, the word "waste", can be defined as "its disposal is not an issue". For the other half, "waste', is a constant reminder that "the conditions they face will forever be only their issue". One may argue that waste culture is a direct result of the prosperity of the industrial revolution, the obsession with "untouched" hygienic food in the Victorian era or the media's constant ingraining of "disposable items" as a symbol of class, convenience and freedom. However, the primary impact of these turning points lies in the precedent they set for waste management. Behavioral Assessments : A Behavioral Assessment A behavioral assessment is a research–based approach to understanding the antecedents, behavioral components and consequences of observable behaviors using various unbiased assessment methods. The major focus of behavioral assessments is to be able to measure individual changes, identify circumstances that direct problematic behaviors and better comprehend individualistic occurrences. Behavioral assessments can be either direct or indirect measures of behavior. Targets of direct behavioral assessments methods include observing individual behaviors first hand and understanding the connection between the individual and their environment. Direct behavioral assessments also allow the observer to establish behavior chains and record changes in behavior over time. Targets of indirect behavioral assessments are more likely to determine psychological thoughts though various questions given during a survey or interview. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Garbage Cleanup Can Be Dangerous Throughout the United States, many people litter and contribute to the trash on the sides of the roads on a daily basis. It is extremely important to pick up trash since trash can be dangerous to our safety, our wildlife, and our economy. Aquatic debris can be threatening to common activities such as swimming and fishing. Wildlife are harmed every day, because they consider plastic and litter as food or get stuck in ropes. The United States thrives on the recreation and tourism industries, which can be harmed by the great amounts of trash on roads and popular areas in towns. Picking up trash is an extremely important act that can help people take action against pollution and see the various kinds of trash that are present on sidewalks. Individuals often do not realize just how dangerous or prevalent trash is until they experience and collect it firsthand. Trash cleanup can also educate people on the different types of litter such as cigarettes, food wrappers, caps, and lids. A major advantage to a project like collecting trash is that it can incorporate children and youth; there is not a specific age when individuals can start picking up trash and contributing to a cleaner city. The practice encourages young people to be more aware of the choices they make and use their ability to constantly recycle and reuse items that they do not use anymore. Garbage falls into two broad categories. The first, Total SolidWaste (TSW) is the aggregate amount of solid waste produced in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Waste Disposal Of The United States Waste disposal in the United States is a vast and complicated enterprise. From the handling of regular household trash to hazardous, toxic waste materials, a great deal of infrastructure is required in order to best store and transport such materials in a way that does not conflict with communities. However, in point of fact, there is a great deal of trouble with the current waste–management systems of the United States: from destructive ecological effects to humanitarian concerns in low/under–privileged neighborhoods in America, there is a lot to consider when it comes to the topic of waste disposal in cities of the United States. That being the case, the following will proceed to address a myriad of issues affecting waste disposal systems in the United States, starting with general information about American's usage of waste disposal systems, followed by environmental effects and the role of the Environmental Protection Agency (or EPA) in addressing these issues. ==================== First, let us look at some basic statistics about the American's use of waste disposal systems. According to the EPA, "In 2013, Americans generated about 254 million tons of trash and recycled and composted about 87 million tons of this material, equivalent to a 34.3 percent recycling rate. On average, we recycled and composted 1.51 pounds of our individual waste generation of 4.40 pounds per person per day (epa.gov, 2015)." On the whole, American's produce a great deal of waste. • 33. Henry Clay Frick Research Paper Henry Clay Frick In this paper I am going to talk about how Henry Clay Frick was an important man to our history and some things that he contributed. Not only was he a successful industrialist, but an art patron and a philanthropist. He was one of the most important people that helped put Pittsburgh on the map. It all started in a small town in Westmoreland county called West Overton. He was born in 1849 into a wealthy family not his parents but his grandfather had some money. His grandfather was Abraham Overholt, who was a wealthy ryewhiskey distiller. As he was growing up his grandfather gave him a job as a bookkeeper. The Homestead Works strike didn't look good for Carnegie because of the death and violence, which had happened, and he tried to avoid any connections with him. Frick also didn't have much public support after the Homestead violence. He then played a major role in the formation of United States Steel Corporation, after Carnegie sold his interests in the Carnegie Steel Company in 1901. The research topic has clear value to the discipline of Midwifery and more specifically to health professionals providing maternity care to Aboriginal Australian childbearing women. It is a national priority to address and solve health issues that contribute to closing the gap between Aboriginal childbearing women and their non–Aboriginal counterparts. The driving force behind the research article is the question "What issues Ngaanyatjarra women would like to see resolved in the area of antenatal and birthing services?", which is only articulated in the abstract part of the article. On the other hand, it is challenging to distinguish between the studies which form a historical and cultural context around birthing issues in Aboriginal women and the literature that led the researchers to formulate the specific research question. It would have been better to separate these for their attributing purposes. Nevertheless, a framework is established between a previous study conducted in 1989 and the research about to be undertaken. For instance, in the background section of the article, Simmonds et al refers to Rawlings and West's (1989) work who outlined the concerns Ngaanyatjarra women had over travelling to town to birth. This particular reference leads the investigators to clearly convey the main purpose of the study to the reader; to formally document Ngaanyatjarra women's concern regarding antenatal and birthing services. Overall, all articles reviewed by Simmonds et al (2012) led them to support the need to provide culturally appropriate maternity services to Aboriginal women and led the investigators to underpin a research question that I considered feasible, interesting, ethical and relevant to midwifery and obstetric practice. Part 2 A participatory research methodology was implemented to address the research goal. This method was appropriate for this investigation, given that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Andrew Carnegie 's Impact On The Industrial Revolution In the movie, The Richest Man in the World, Andrew Carnegie played a major role in influencing the Industrial Revolution, which changed the economy of the US and the world forever. This era brought upon significant changes through economic developments that would not only change the ways of the economy but also the social aspect of society, especially within the cities where this growth was located. The shift from hand–made to machine–made products increased productivity and decreased costs. Through the innovations of the new forms of energy, such as iron, and then steel, establishments of factories began, competition between businessmen arose, and innovations of transportation in the city through railroads and bridges developed. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also made production easier, faster, and cheaper since workers made an abundant of products within a short amount of time.Mass production in factories was possible because of the invention of machineries, leading to products being made without costing businesses as much money compared to if the products were hand made. Because products were made in factories, this also caused retail prices of the products to decrease while there was always accessibility for the supplies. The establishment of large corporations replaced small businesses, which was good news for the wealthy but bad news for individuals who owned their own small stores. On the other hand, because of the establishment of factories by businessmen, the workers ' lives became hard as they faced unfair working conditions in dirty and small working places. They worked long hours with no break. The machines used in factories were also very dangerous and led to workers enduring injuries. Unskilled labor did not even require training. During the Industrial Revolution, child labor became common since it was cheaper to have children working. Instead of earning an education, children started working as early as 8 years old. Also, factories produced pollution within the cities because of all the coal that was being used for power, leading smoke to contaminate the air. People became sick and even ... The selected product that I will be collecting data for is an anti–depression medication made my HML (Hutchinsons Medical Limited). The data collecting method I've chosen is face to face interviews in order to get the respondents full attention and collect data without any distractions. I intend on finding out the respondent's age, whether they suffer from depression/anxiety, whether they take medication for their depression/anxiety, and which form of our product they would prefer to purchase (roll on, cream, liquid, pills). It's also not easy to have an accurate quota frame because of the unavailability on current information. You could divide the population in groups but this means extending sampling requirements and bringing in more groups. This would cost money as well take time when the current method itself takes a lot of time. There were some problems while collecting the data as some people that were interviewed didn't even suffer from either anxiety or depression which meant that a lot of time was wasted. There were also some people that started to lose interest halfway through the interview meaning that their answers became short and less detailed which didn't help at all. At one point there was someone that didn't really speak English which meant there was a language barrier so a translator was brought in but this held up the process as we didn't know beforehand. Secondary Data Collection I collected secondary data off google because it's easy and free as well as time and cost effective and I also wanted to find out about the population and the side effects of anti–depression medication. Another site used was ONS they regularly update the information so it's accurate. Conclusion Despite some problems with the data collection, it was still comprehensive enough to use for the HML anti depression product. Nature Of Human Tissue Specimens Within Museum Collections The specimen is relatively rare with regard to other gynaecological pathology specimens, and is relatively complete, although there have been some modifications made through time for the safety of the human tissue. The specimen is significant for the interpretive potential that it holds, however it is limited by the lack of documented provenance, given that some of the information obtained is anecdotal oral history and cannot be verified through documentation. This could also be achieved through a more ambitious events programme that could include publically bookable talks and activities. Concerns are often raised about the appropriateness of human specimens in a class environment. However, staff at the UCL Pathology Collection have found that children are not so much frightened or disturbed by the specimens in the collections, rather they are intrigued and wish to understand more about health issues and specimen collecting in the past. In this sense, pathology collections can be a key way of presenting health concerns through object study, away from a dependence on photography and diagrams in text books. Children in particular have been shown to respond well to learning through object handling. Specimens and objects relating to the history of medicine have been identified as having an almost unique ability to profoundly impact upon museum visitors (Arnold, 1999). The inherent relatability of human organs, and the pain inflicted through the use of medical instruments, can both ignite curiosity and instil fear and repulsion. • 39. Medical Billing : The Pros And Cons Of Medical Billing Medical billing in and of itself can be a complex and sensitive subject. While some patients are able to easily pay their medical bills, some have a harder time. At some point, places that offer medical care will encounter patients either unable or unwilling to pay their medical bills, and eventually these fees will need to have action taken in order to collect them. The two ways that medical facilities can choose from to collect their patients' delinquent bills are either in–house collections or outsourced third party collection (TPC) companies. This paper will address the pros and cons of each as well as a personal recommendation as to what makes the most sense from my own point of view. In–house third party collection functions may, at first, seem like a better solution. It surely has its upsides for several reasons, but the most important to me is patient satisfaction. When a patient is delinquent on their bills, it is more often due to the fact they are unable to pay the fees–not usually due to forgetfulness. Having a debt collector calling patients day in and day out may make the patient feel even worse about the shame they already feel. Having an in–house collection system may make the patient feel less pressured and more like their care is being thought about as second to the fees they owe due to the personal feel. Those calling to collect are people they've seen before, and will probably seem much more understanding. The in–house function is also helps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Having A Car On Students Being a freshman at Regis is not easy, due to are already at a disadvantage of not having your car on campus; thus, a reliable source of transportation is a losing battle. Although we have a shuttle that brings us to and from Riverside and the Natick Mall the scheduled times are not beneficial. Regis should have the shuttle be more accessible to students more frequently. As a freshman who is not allowed to have a car on campus I find it inconvenient that the shuttle to the Natick Mall comes every three to five hours. Besides going to Natick Mall and Riverside Train Station, the Regis shuttle should include AMC Theater, Shopper's World, and Target. Many would argue that AMC Theater is very close in distance to the Natick Mall, and may ask why the passengers of the shuttle cannot walk to the theater? An intersection similar to the one behind the mall can get busy and is very dangerous at night if one is not careful. Adding Shopper's World being added as a destination shuttle's route would be beneficial to the students taking it because there are so many stores in the shopping area. Therefore, it would limit the amount of time and money a student will spend on going to multiple stores via uber or public transportation. Another location that the shuttle should go to is Target; target is a store that every college student should have at their disposal, since it is a store that has everything a college student uses in their daily lives. Another flaw in Regis' transportation system is that the shuttle does not come to and from Regis frequent enough.
