1. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Brand identity is extremely important to the success and quality of a product. It
must use similar if not the same elements across all the texts relating to my
product, that is why I have thought about this is such detail. I have kept many
parts of my texts such as font and colour and contrast similar throughout all of
my media texts. I used the Mistral font for most of the writing in my digipack and
advert, this creates a recognizable trait for all media relating to my music video
and so the audience will make the connection between the different texts and be
able to realise instantly they are for the same product. However, for the website
link at the bottom of the poster I decided to use a more standard and clear font,
this is because after looking at other similar texts I noticed that the website links
were usually quite clear whereas Mistral is quite an italicised font so I decided to
adapt the current font to fit with this convention.
Colour is a very important element throughout all my products I decided to use a
desaturated colour palette in my video and demonstrated a brand identity by
using a washed out water colour style in my poster and digipack. During the
filming of my music video I installed a colour preset onto the camera to add the
desaturated effect. In the ancillary text I installed a watercolour brush into
photoshop and used only light pastille colours to create the background. This
creates unified feel between all my productions as they all have similar traits,
which again make this brand very recognizable.
