small group of seven terrorists rented a van, parked it in the underground parking garage of the
World Trade Center, departed and then detonated it. The explosion resulted in six killed, more than

The original World Trade Center, constructed between 1975 and 1985, was a complex of seven
buildings occupying a 16 block area in Lower Manhattan. At the heart of the World Trade Center
(WTC) stood 1 WTC and 2 WTC, also known as the Twin Towers. These towers occupied nearly an
acre each and stood 110 stories high. When completed, 1 WTC was the tallest building in the world.

They were hoping to level the north tower and have it collapse into the south tower with the hope of
killing everyone inside. When Yousef was captured and sentenced he was noted as saying that they
hope to kill upward of 250,000 Americans. Any loss of life by a terrorist attack is a tragedy and if
Yousef and his group was successful as they planned they would have single handedly conducted
the worst attack ever, but by the grace of God they weren't as successful as they originally planned.
The attack on February 26 only killed 6 people. Four out of the six personnel were from the Port

The Twin waterfalls that are placed in the ground where the twin towers of the World Trade Center
once stood serve as a memorial to the events that took place on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The
Architect of these twin waterfalls, Michael Arad, wanted to create a memorial that was "stoic and
defiant, but also quiet and respectful." Arad explained. "I didn't want a design that felt the need to
scream loudly. I felt the site was frightened with so much history, anything we say here is amplified
a thousand–fold." The project that Arad had in mind was no easy feat, it took roughly 6 years to
complete due to numerous architectural obstacles that the workers had to conquer. This mechanical
marvel is able to send water from the bottom of the waterfall back to the top at an astonishing rate of
24,000 gallons per minute. However, gusts of wind cause turbulence on top of the water so the
engineers needed to create a system that is not only strong, but also able to variate the power given
to these pumps in order to maintain that serene aesthetic look of the water smoothly flowing down
the waterfall. This mechanical marvel also boasts filters to take sediment out, UV lights to kill
bacteria, and chemical additives to prevent the water from becoming polluted. Every minute detail

On September 11th, 2001, terrorism reached American soil; attacks were specifically made on
Lower Manhattan, causing the destruction of every World Trade Center associated building. The
attack to this day has still instilled fear of terrorism in our society, and is an event New Yorkers will
never forget. Dating back to July 4th, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed in the
United States, declaring the thirteen colonies free from Great Britain. It is no coincidence that the
new 1 WTC, previously known as the Freedom Tower, reaches its maximum height of 1,776 feet.
The name "Freedom Tower" was originally used to symbolize America as a nation to rise above the
attacks on the original towers. Architectures strategically planned out its symbolic height to match
up with its specific chosen name of the building. However, the owners decided to change the
building name back to One World Trade Center due to the fact that the building was going to be
used as an office building and not for marketing. Nonetheless, many people still refer to 1 WTC as
the Freedom Tower. Fast forward ten years later from the attack, on September 11th, 2011, the 9/11

The two terrorist attacks that I will examine are the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center that
took place on February 26, 1993 and The Boston Marathon Bombing took place on April 15. 2013. I
will also be providing an overview of the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center and the Boston
Marathon Bombing. I will explain the lessons learned from each attack in my own opinion. I will
also describe what protective measures were taken during the attacks to prevent further casualties
and injuries.
The attack on The World Trade Center took place at approximately noon on February 26, 1993.

One of the men involved Mohammed Salameh returned to the vehicle rental location and asked for
his refund and then was arrested. The investigators were able to locate the suspect's apartments,

were arrested, brought back to the United States and sent to prison.
The Boston Marathon Bombing took place on April 15. 2013 close to the finish line of a marathon
that was taking place. The individual responsible for the terrorist attack were two brothers by the
names of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The two brothers created bombs from nails
and other items in a pressure cooker which they learned to make from an online website. The
Tsarnaev brothers placed the pressure cooker in backpacks. The two back packs with the pressure
cookers were placed in the crowed near the finish line and went off around the same time as the
runners were passing the finish

The Crash Of The World Trade Center
Tuesday, September 11th, 2001 began as a normal, late summer day in New York City, New York. It
started as a beautiful morning, with its sky cloudless and bright with the shining sun. Despite the
seemingly peaceful morning, a sequence of catastrophic events occurred and caused the day to take
a turn for the worst. Anything that made the day appear normal drastically changed.
On the morning of the September 11th attacks, or the attacks of 9/11, four passenger airplanes were
hijacked by terrorists. Two airplanes collided into the North and South towers of the World Trade
Center in New York, a third airplane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a fourth

(History.com Staff). Like the crash into the North Tower, the crash into the South Tower killed
everybody aboard and hundreds inside the building. After the second tower was smashed into, it was
clear that America was under attack.
Now, both the Twin Towers were engulfed in flames. Numerous people were trapped inside the
towers, since they were on the floors above the impact zone. Many people even leaped to their
deaths, believing it would be better than to die the haunting, horrific death from flames, and/or
smoke inhalation. Even with both 110–story buildings ablaze, the tragedy was far from finished.
Although the South Tower was the second to be struck, it was the first to fall. Less than one hour
after the airplane smashed into it, the entire building collapsed. "9:59 am– The South Tower of the
World Trade Center collapses" (History.com Staff). As soon as the building crumpled to the ground,
thick clouds of dust and smoke filled the surroundings. Then, just under a half hour later, the North

hours, the Twin Towers of The World Trade Center that had once scraped the sky, had been
