Techniques
In the opening title sequence of Skyfall there are a variety of
camera angles used throughout. As the opening title sequence
for this particular film is edited to make it appear as though the
main character, James Bond, is experiencing supernatural events
such as being dragged underwater by a giant hand; using a wide
range of camera angles exaggerates this scene and enables the
audience to see these certain events which are happening from a
different point of view.
For example, one of the camera angles used is a POV shot, which
is used when James Bond is being sucked down a hole in what
appears to be a sea bed. The use of a POV shot in this scene
allows the audience to feel as though they are experiencing what
this character is facing. Another example of a camera angle which
was used thoroughly is a close up shot. This was used to zoom in
on certain features, such as the characters eyes which appear to
be piercing blue. An aerial shot is also used throughout, which
makes James Bond appear small and weak and emphasise the
fact that he is going through conflict.
Tracking shots are also used in every scene, as the title sequence
is based on the audience following James Bond to what looks like
his death.

Visual Effects &
Colour Scheme
The visual effects of this title sequence are not realistic as there
are a lot of editing effects. An example of a strong visual effect is
the use of guns and knives dropping down from above and falling
into the ground. These weapons represent grave stones, as it
appears to be a grave yard that they are plunging into.
The overall colour scheme is dark, unilluminated and mysterious.
Because the colour scheme is so dark, it gives off a shadow effect.
The colour scheme is black and red; red representing blood which
is bright against the dark background, meaning it is the main
focus.
Genre Conventions
I believe the genre of this film is mixture of an action, adventure
and romance. I think this because the film is based around a spy
who has the job of targeting certain people to kill. It also involves
him having numerous romances with different women.
Narrative
There is no narrative in this title sequence, just the song ‘Skyfall’
sang by Adele.
Editing Techniques
An example of an editing technique used is a basic fade in fade
out, which is used when fading from one particular item to
another.
