2. YOUTUBE
The use of youtube was prominently useful as all of the musicians
featured on my website can only be found through social media
platforms. For example the band Road Trip’s videos can only be
found on youtube. When I started to search for Road Trip’s covers in
the search bar I typed in ‘Road Trip’ at first which didn’t show me
what I was looking for so I then searched ‘Road Trip Cover’ and
eventually I found what I wanted and was able to look through the
options and choose the right video for my website. The concept of
using youtube to find and upload videos was very useful as it made it
easier to access the videos from any computer. The concept of
youtube proved to be useful for my articles ‘Lyrics – do they matter?”
or the article ‘influence of music’ is very useful in the way not only my
audience can read about what is said in the article but also visualise
what is being written in the article and therefore gain a much better
understanding of what they are reading.
3. TWITTER
The use of twitter was a small element that proved to be very useful in the
research and planning stages of my media product. Twitter is a social media
platform in which users can obtain information about anything and everything,
along with having easy access to the musicians themselves. The access to
twitter allowed me to obtain all sorts of information about the artists on my
website. For example the way I was able to use it to find Road Trip’s official
twitter page lead me to finding their official youtube channel that had all of
their covers on it. Additionally I was able to obtain information about the band
such as the fact that they recruited a new member last year. The use of this
simple application allowed me to obtain updated information from the
members themselves. Therefore this allows my audience to have updated
information about any of the artists featured on the website.
4. FACEBOOK
The use of facebook was another small element that was barely
used yet still proved to be very helpful. When constructing the
‘Youth Talent’ section of my website. Facebook was used to
help me have contact with one of the people in the video. I
was able to message them about details such as what they
were expected to do. Also it allowed them to ask me any
questions about what was required such as what they had to
wear on camera.
5. SURVEY MONKEY
The use of surveymonkey played a significant role (mainly in the research and
planning and construction stages) of my website. The way in which
surveymonkey allowed me to obtain information on my audience’s desires
about what they would like to see on my website. These included the colour
for the website, the amount of videos per page and the length of the articles
on my page. The rapidity of gaining the information from surveymonkey was
useful as it allowed me to instantly take the ideas and work them into my
website. Also when evaluating the final product, the use of survey monkey to
get audience feedback proved to be useful in the way I was able to get more
feedback on my website. The feedback I got allowed me to see what needed
to be improved on my website such as the amount of videos per page and the
colour scheme.
6. PHOTOSHOP
When constructing my article to accompany the main website the use of
photoshop was very useful. Originally, when I first started working on
the article using microsoft word to write it was a good starting point
but then to make it even more professional the tools on photoshop
proved to be useful in the way that I could edit out the background of
my image to fit with the article. Plus I was able to give my article a
much more professional look as if it were from a professional
magazine. Also seeing as it was my first time using photoshop I
struggled at first but after many attempts I was able to finally
construct a decent promotional article for my website.
7. OVERALL
Overall the use of Facebook, photoshop, youtube and twitter proved to
be useful when constructing both my main website and the ancillary
task. The use of media technology was the most prominent element for
constructing each individual element.
