1. Evaluation Question 1:
Print Advert
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms
and conventions of real media products?
2. Slogan and Title:
The slogan and title are the largest pieces of text on the page which is
indicative of all print adverts, also the use of ‘Splitting Hairs’ and ‘The Final
Cut’ clearly anchors meaning to the image insinuating the documentary topic.
3. Logo:
The ITV2 logo is one of the largest sections of the advert and has been placed
to the side of the advert. While it is a prominent piece of the advert,
attention does not want to be detracted from the image which is why it is
placed off centre.
4. Channel Identity:
The date and time is kept under the title in the smallest font and is used to
tell viewers when the documentary will actually be aired. We managed to
obtain the ‘ITV’ font which creates another link from documentary and
channel thus making it more professional-looking.
5. Main Image:
Our image choice was the more ‘visually interesting’ concept since it is a
variety of different hairstyles merged together which in theory should create
intrigue with the audience as it is not a typical advert you would see every
day.
