2. Lighting
• This scene is very dark assisting in
disorientating audience and making them feel
like they are in similar position to the
characters. The small light that is created by
the head torches gives limited vision just in
front of the characters, this makes them
extremely susceptible to being attacked from
behind by the crawlers. The light refracting off
the water gives an extra eerieness to the
scene.
3. Location
• The cave provides an ideal location for the setting
for a scary movie, the darkness and
claustrophobic conditions that are created in the
cave are scary to both the characters and the
audience. The darkness gives us very little
information about what is going on around the
characters so we feel as trapped as them. It also
makes it easier for the production crew to
present the crawlers because they are never seen
in good lighting and therefore don’t have to look
as detailed, also it allows them to appear more
creepy.
4. Costume and props
• The helmets and headtorches are part of
standard caving gear. Alice’s camera has night
vision and displays the scene
