2. • The 'Se7en' trailer is more graphic than 'We need to talk
about Kevin', it takes a more abrasiveness approach and
attempts to make the viewer cringe using imagery of things
like razor blades.
• This film opening makes you feel isolated from the person
as you can't even see a whole body just his hands. The
shallow focus on each object makes you concentrate on
what's been done with the objects rather than the person
himself; it focuses on striking out words in books so, again,
you don't see anything particularly tense but use of dark
lighting and shadows it seems excruciatingly intense, the
darkness also connotates seriousness & danger.
3. • The camera doesn't move making the focus on certain items more
intense as well creating tension because the audience is effectively
left in the dark about the identity of the man whose carrying out
the actions in the title sequence. The low key lighting creates
suspense and invokes a sense of suspiciousness towards this
unknown character. The Chronological order to this opening
suggests a kind of structure to what the person is doing & the fades
between each action as well as the cut to black between certain clip
create tension. The somber atmosphere when the slow motion is
used allows the audience to observe and meditate on his actions,
giving audiences time to analyze and aquatint themselves with this
sequence causes more tension.
