1. How did you use media
technologies in the
research and planning?
2. Internet Explorer
• Google is one of the most commonly used search engines on the
internet.
• I used the internet for a lot of my research.
• I researched into posters, trailers, magazine covers and information
about my target audience.
• Google was the search engine I used to look at posters and
magazine covers, it was very useful as it was easy to find the types
of images I was looking for. The only problem was that because it
was over the school internet, several things were filtered causing an
issue when I needed an image at that point.
• I also looked at several sites which gave me lots of information
about my target audience, so that I could create a trailer that would
suit them.
3. YouTube
• YouTube is a very popular website, where you can
watch, upload and share many videos.
• YouTube was very helpful in finding all the different
trailers that had the same genre that I was looking for.
• It is a quick process to find what you are looking for.
• YouTube also allows you to have a video manager,
where I was able to analyse a British Social Realism
trailer, put annotations on the trailer as it was playing.
• That really helped with decided what type of shots and
look of the trailer to put in my own.
4. Wordpress
• Wordpress is a free blogging website which I have used over
the past two years, to blog and present the work that I have
done.
• I used wordpress a lot to show the research that I was doing,
by uploading images and embedding trailers that I had looked
at.
• Wordpress is very useful because it is known by other
websites so embedding things was an easy process to do.
• It is also very easy to upload images from my computer as
well.
• The bad point about wordpress is that it sometimes it is
upgraded to try and make it better. However, this causes
problems to previous posts that once worked fine. You then
have to find a new way of posting the blog visually instead of
just a link.
5. Polldaddy
• Polldaddy is a survey website which is a sister website
to wordpress. This means that you can easily upload
surveys onto your blog without any major issues.
• I used polldaddy, to ask my target audience which plot
they preferred out of the two that I had chosen.
• Using polldaddy is a very easy process to use and
saves time by going around asking my target audience
what they thought.
• Also if you went around asking certain people, I am
then controlling who I chose as I would know roughly
what answer they would give, this stops me doing this
as I have no idea who took the survey, giving a true
feedback from my target audience.
