In the traditional methods of Passive Learning English skills - reading, listening and speaking – are learned separately.
In the Active Learning of English skills - reading, listening, and speaking – are learned simultaneously. Active Learning stops cross-translation in the head and allows start thinking in English from the first lesson.

Active Learning of English Skills vs. Traditional Passive Learning
1. Active Learning of English skills
In the traditional methods all
language skills - reading,
listening and speaking –
are learned separately.
In the Active Learning of
English skills - reading,
listening, and speaking –
are learned simultaneously.
2. Traditional methods
use conscious
memorization of
information and
belong to Passive
Learning.
Passive Learning does
not teach adults how to
think in English and
speak fluently using
intuitive grammar.
3. The first researcher believes:
1. Adults may learn a foreign language as children will
do it.
2. Flashcards are the most efficient way to build a
vocabulary, the foundation of a new language.
3. A foreign language is information to be consciously
memorized.
4. Immersion requires one-language approach:
translation to the L1 is substituted by photos.
5. Compare your pronunciation with the one recorded
by a native speaker and memorize it.
4. 1. Adults can't learn EFL as children do.
2. Flashcards should be avoided because they
reinforce cross-translation into L1.
3. Language skills are trained subconsciously
much faster than consciously learned.
4. One-language approach is inefficient since
adults subconsciously cross-translate.
5. Pronunciation is trained during multiple
repetitions of whole sentences.
Assumptions of the Second Researcher
5. Comprehensible – support in the native
language is built-in the app;
Multimedia – reading the text, listening
to the recording, speaking and recording of
the learner’s speech is built-in the app;
Input – each lesson contains three texts:
1. Pre-recorded lessons on various topics
2. Any text added by the learner or the teacher
3. An inspiring poem recorded by native
speaker.
Active Learning of English skills
6. Comprehensible
multimedia input –
the learner first imitates,
after multiple repetitions,
he is able to produce English
collocations automatically.
Conversations with native
speakers in immersion
language learning do not have
these input characteristics.
7. The Android app with lessons pre-recorded
by native speakers was created especially for
Chinese adults.
All students wearing earphones read
the text, listen to the recording and speak
simultaneously. They imitate English
sentences and speak in English all the time.
This is not Passive Learning as we know it;
it is Active Training of English skills.
8. In doing three actions
simultaneously,
the learners’ brain is fully
engaged in the activity and
the cross-translation is
turned off automatically.
Learners start thinking in
English from the start and
form direct links between
symbols and English words.
9. The learners understand
the context and are fully
engaged since support in
Mandarin is built-in
for stress-free training.
Support eliminates cross-
translation by showing
contextual word
translation for ten
seconds only.
10. The application lets learners
share recorded sessions with
friends or with a teacher.
Three types of texts are used
in every lesson:
1. Pre-recorded lesson
on various topics and drills.
2. Lesson added by
a learner or a teacher.
3. Inspirational poem.
11. • Testing active
vocabulary is built-in
every lesson.
• Say a few sentences on
the topic inspired by
a word shown on
a display; repeat
the process for 30 words.
• Testing develops a habit
of automatic speech
and thinking in English.
12. Priming implicit memory
• Observe the words appearing
on the screen while relaxing
music plays for a minute.
• Subconscious preparation
by invoking “retention
without remembering”.
• Learners recognize the new
words and transfer them to
long-term memory.
13. Main Features of Active Learning
1. Active Learning turns off the innate habit
of cross-translating into the native language
when listening to or speaking in English.
2. The mobile app facilitates acquiring
language patterns and intuitive grammar
while the learner re-enacts comprehensible
situations exclusively in English.
14. Main Features of Active Learning
3. Contextual translation appears for ten
seconds to eliminate cross-translation.
4. The mobile app uses Special
English: first recognize, then imitate, and
finally, produce English phonemes.
Regular English is used for Active
Training in the second part of the course.
15. Main Features of Active Learning
5. The learner may add his own lessons and
use high-quality voice robot for simultaneous
repetition of the new material.
6. Priming Implicit Memory - “retention
without remembering”. It exposes the learner
to a cloud of words from the lesson while he
listens to relaxation music for 60 seconds.
16. Main Features of Active Learning
7. Testing active vocabulary. Put earphones
and say a few sentences on any topic from your
experience, prompted by the word that drops
down randomly from the word cloud.
8. Use of social networking and guided learning.
The learner’s speaking and testing is recorded
and could be shared via social networking or
sent to his teacher for feedback.
17. Main Features of Active Learning
9. An inspiring poem is included in each
lesson. After a few repetitions, the learner
remembers it by heart as his famous song.
10. Adults acquire fluency in English in
about twelve months, due to the synergy of
the latest technology and the new pedagogy
of Active Learning of English skills.
18. My Activity as Inventor
1. 20 years ago people started typing on the
Microsoft Natural keyboard. US5,156,475.
2. My three patents on computer security
were bought by Bekad Mgmt.
3. My IP containing 3 patents on Active
Learning of foreign languages, eBook and
android apps are available for acquisition.
19. Versions of Android apps
1. The current version 1.0 is ready for
implementation in China.
2. Version 2.0 will include Priming implicit
memory and fluency test.
3. Version 3.0 will include texts written
specifically for China.
4. Version 4.0 will include a module for
creating individual voice recognition
program while learning English.

The linguistic research becomes misleading if the author uses false assumptions during experiment design. Let's assume that two researchers during experiment design followed different sets of assumptions. All assumptions made by the second researcher are misconceptions therefore his research results will inevitably turn out misleading.
