Your Personal Assistant
A personal assistant is a person who helps you get places, makes your appointments or
schedule, and sometimes even helps you get dressed! Who would you want to be your
personal assistant out of the choices below? Why would you choose them? What kind of
jobs would you give them to do? How well do you think they would do those jobs? What
kinds of things wouldn’t they be good at?
Personal Assistant Choices:

Brainstorm your ideas on the back of this paper using the questions I provided for you
before starting your rough draft. After you answer the questions turn them into a
paragraph about the day you were a different age. Then have an adult help you edit your
rough draft by looking for capital letters, correct punctuation and grammar, spelling
mistakes, and how well you stayed on topic. Last, rewrite your paragraph in your neatest
handwriting or type it up on the computer. Make sure to turn in this sheet, your edited
rough draft, and your final copy.
REMEMBER:
1. Sentences should start with a capital and end with a period, question mark, or exclamation
point.
2. A sentence should be a complete thought or idea. Your paragraph should have at least 5
sentences.
3. Strong sentences have vivid details.
4. Your paragraph should stay on topic and have a topic sentence, detail sentences, and a
detail
concluding sentence. Don’t forget to indent!
5. All words should be spelled correctly. Have an adult proofread your paragraph before
turning it in.
Here’s an example of my paragraph:
If I could have one of the personal assistants I would choose Phineas and Ferb because I think they
would always make my days extra fun and unique! As my personal assistants I would have them plan my
excursions and time with friends, help me with my lesson plans for school, and make my chores around the
house more fun to do. I think they would be great at all of these jobs because Phineas and Ferb are
always creating new ways to do ordinary things and thinking of exciting new activities to do with friends. I
don’t think they would do a very good job at picking out my clothes because they always wear the same
thing. They might not be very good at helping me with schoolwork either because they always seem to be
enjoying summer vacation!
