1. Dear Families of Room 15,
The Matthew Turner’s Adopt-a-Family Drive has begun. I am sorry that I didn’t
get any information to you sooner, but I was waiting to hear back from the family. I just
received the phone call tonight, so I think we are all set to go. The drive will take place
for the next three weeks (ending on December 17th). Our class has been assigned a
family that includes a mom, dad and two children. After speaking with the mother, she
informed me that she is very grateful and thankful for anything that we can do to make
their holiday special.
Below is the information that I have been given regarding the family:
1 Adult Female – Wishes for Gift Cards to Grocery Stores, Pots and Pans, Bed
Sheets/Set (queen size), Rice Cooker and Perfume.
1 Adult Male – No special requests, but does a lot of the cooking. I did get out of her
that her husband needs collared t-shirts with ¾ sleeve (she called them chef shirts) and
black pants (size 34/30)
Child 1 – 6 year old Girl – Tops (size 7), Pants (size 7), Dress (size 7), and Shoes (size
12-1/2). She wishes for: Remote Control Car “Girly,” Pillow Pet, Zui Zui Pet and items
for “pets,” Bike, Helmet, Art Stuff, DSi Games (any), Webkinz and Jacket (size 7).
Child 2 – 14 year old Boy – Tops (xxlarge), Pants (size 34), and Shoes (size 10 -1/2).
He wishes for: Shoes from Foot Locker (Jordan Shoes), Cologne, Jacket (xlarge), MP3
player or iPod Shuffle, and iTunes gift cards.
Just as last year, I will also be accepting monetary donations towards the purchase
of the more expensive items - the bike, iPod shuffle or MP3 player, bed set, etc. and to
round out the gifts for the whole family. I know that this can be a hectic time of year, so
I am more than willing to do the shopping for those of you that would rather send in
monetary donations. Therefore, if you plan on donating money, please send in your
monetary donations no later than Wednesday, December 15th in an envelope with
my name “Marya Lorz.” As for the items purchased, you can send them in at anytime
and have your child place them in an “Adopt-a-Family” box inside the classroom. If
you choose to wrap the gifts yourselves, though they don’t have to be, please put a note
on top that lists who it is to and a general idea of what it is, so that I don’t duplicate.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I thank you in advance for all of
your contributions. Please help us give this family a very special holiday!!
Happy Holidays!!
Marya Lorz (747-6477)
