2. Short summary
This short film will highlight a suicide attempt. We will
have our main actor getting from point A to B and in this
case from home to standing on a bridge just thinking
before he plans to take his own life. Meanwhile through
his journey we will be showing flashbacks to why he has
gone there and why he wants to take his own life.
3. Audience
We want our audience to be 18-23 year olds because our main character is a teenager so
we think that having an audience a similar age would be better as they can connect and
relate more to the film.
Length
We will stick to the brief and keep the film to a maximum of five minutes .
4. Inspiration
This has come from a short film called 'The girl that lived'. This film
shows how schizophrenia can affect a persons mind set which can
easily lead to suicide. However, our idea will differ from this as our
character will suffer from guilt. We have also been inspired by editing
techniques and camera views used in 'Crooked Smile - J.Cole which we
plan to use in our short film.
6. Logistics & Feasibility
We will need a tripod to ensure that the shots which need to be steady will remain
steady without the camera wobbling or shaking. We will also need the sound
recorder as we need to record ambience sound of leaves crunching and footsteps.
We will be filming in someone’s home for flashbacks . We will also be filming in
Regents Canal, as we need a place that has a bridge.
We will have more than one character within our short film, so we will need an extra
person for the flashbacks. Altogether the number of characters within this short film
will be three.
As our main character is a teenage male he will be wearing casual clothing such as
jeans, hoodie and trainers. Depending on the weather when we are filming our
character may need a coat.
7. Ethical Issues
We have to consider others feelings in the way we show suicide, as for many
people it could be a sensitive and serious situation. As we are showing guilt
for allowing his brother to die we need to make sure that it is suitable enough
for the audience and in all aspects of filming we consider the feelings and
views of others that may watch this film as it will be distributed amongst
social media.
