Otto Schade
One of the top places in London to view amazing street art besides the Leake Street Tunnel, Shoreditch and Brick Lane, is the colourful Camden
Town. Nestled along the side streets off Camden High Street and Chalk Farm Road you can find work from many well renowned, international and
local artists such as Otto Schade, Onesto, Pegasus and Gnasher.
Slowly succumbing to thoughtless tagging, this John Lennon piece by Gnasher was created in early 2015 and is located on Jamestown Road, painted on
the side of the Oxford Arms Pub.

A mural of a Rhino by Chilean street artist, Otto Schade, also located on Hawley Street, positioned to the left of his Amy Winehouse piece. I love
finding Otto Schade's work all over the city. Shoreditch being another great hot spot.
Also located on Hawley Street, you will find this piece titled 'Tagging of the Mona Lisa' by Dotmaster. In August 2015, Dotmaster in association with
The Real Art of Street Art, put up several artworks around Camden Town. Below is one of several 'Made for Instagram' works that Dotmaster also
created. These pieces can be found scattered around Hawley Street, Hawley Mews and Hartland Road.
These 2 beautiful murals, (pictured above and below) are both recent additions to Hawley Mews and were created as part of an international
collaboration between artists Himbad (UK), Marina Zumi (Argentina) and Alise Pasquini (Italy), and in association with The Real Art of Street Art.
Pasquini's piece features a young girl sat beside a very large, yet, seemingly protective cheetah, whilst Himbad and Zumi's pieces both feature desert

The Globe Theatre : The Importance And Influence Of The...
The motto and saying of the Globe theatre is "Totus Mundus Agit Histrionem", which meant "The Whole World is a Playhouse." Perhaps this means,
since it is called the "Globe" Theatre, that the plays here can be shared throughout the whole world, "and from its circular shape" (Gurr), from which it
was built. The Globe Theatre was one the most best places to watch a play in the Elizabethan era, because the plays had an important lesson to teach
that still has an affect and emotion on society today when these stories are told to other people. So that brings the question: what is the Globe
Theatre, and why is it such a great historical landmark? The Globe Theatre had many important characteristics that made it famous, such as how it
began, where it was built, the structure, many different features, and how it contributed to the Elizabethan Era. The Origin of the Globe Theatre all
started with Shakespeare and the Lord Chamberlain's men. The Lord Chamberlain's men were a group of actors that worked for Shakespeare, acted,
and participated in plays that Shakespeare wrote. "Christopher Marlowe, who inspired Shakespeare, was born in the same year as him but was active
in theatres before he was." (Hartnoll 72–90) From the inspiration, "Shakespeare and the Lord Chamberlain's men both paid into building the Globe
Theatre" (Gurr) and was "built in 1599 by Cuthbert Burbage." (Mabillard) This theatre was in Southwark, London, just like the Rose and Swan
Theatres. The structure of the Theatre was very important back in the Elizabethan era as well. Some key parts that were included into the building and
design of the Globe Theatre included that "the timber that was used to build the Globe Theatre was the same timber that was used to build the original
theatre." (Evans) The original theatre was built by Richard Burbage's father, James Burbage in 1576, therefore, when the Globe theatre was built, the
timber was 23 years old! Another key part of the design of the Globe Theatre is that it was built similar to the Coliseum, but in a smaller scale. The
Coliseum in Rome had a circular shape just like the Globe Theatre, the reason the Globe theatre was built to this sort of design is that Classic Greek
and Roman architecture was

How Did Elizabethan Theater Affect Popular Entertainment?
How did Elizabethan theater affect popular entertainment? It affected popular entertainment massively at the time because it was very different than
anything that had been popular entertainment before it and because even though it was popular it attracted a lot of criticism from the English Society.
It came about in a time when drama shifted from religious to a secular function in society. The Elizabethan Theater lasted from the end of the 16th
century and well into the 17th century. And it set out the stage for some actors very well–known even today. From the violence that was prevalent
because of the Black Death, people turned to the theater for many reasons. Elizabethan theatre was popular for its time because Queen Elizabeth
encouraged the arts, it was somewhere for every social class to go, and people could relate to the plays. One of the reasons that Elizabethan theatre
was so popular was that it was enjoyed by Queen Elizabeth herself. Elizabeth loved learning new things. She would read and study for hours at a
time. She also had a lot of knowledge when it came to history. She could read books in Latin and French. When she grew older, she could translate
classic works into English. She also enjoyed writing and reading poetry, and a few of her poems still exist today. Elizabeth was also into arts and
literature. She loved watching plays and dramatic performances. "She hired her own company of actors called "The Queen's Players." The art spread
because of the queen. Her

London Regeneration Essay
In order to understand fully the regeneration of the Stratford area, it is imperative that there is some prior knowledge of how the area has
developed over time. As London is the capital of England it has always been at the forefront of development, but other different areas of London
have progressed at different speeds, meaning that some areas have been left waiting for regeneration whilst others have already developed.
Regeneration is defined as the revitalisation of a place or community. Regeneration is both a process and an outcome . In the 1920s there were many
large slums including Old Nichol, situated in Shoreditch. The conditions in the slums were well documented by Irene Barclay, who was a chartered
surveyor and wanted to address social need and her actions were well appreciated by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This transition was further enhanced by its inauguration by Princess Helena, and the blessing of the Bishop of Truro in 1931 . The divide between
developed and underdeveloped areas in London were decreasing as the poorer areas were helped and funded in order to bring them into line with the
rest of London. The less developed parts of London, even after the attempt to regenerate the area, was heavily affected by war time bombing second
only to the City of London causing a need for a total overhaul of the area with more modern development. Elephant and Castle was one of the areas
devastated and the district was categorised as part of 'Central Areas Needing Renewal' by John Forshaw and Patrick Abercrombie . Much of the
development at the time was seen as revolutionary in the run down area and the building of the shopping centre in the middle of Elephant and Castle

The History of the Globe Theatre Today we know of The Globe Theatre on because of the famous playwright and director known as William
Shakespeare. The events which took place in The Globe's past and what is its future may be, have become, and will be, an important part of the history
of theater and drama. This paper will discuss the history of the Globe theatre, the importance it held at its time, and the importance of The Globe
Theater now and in the future.
In 1576, during the Elizabethan era, James Burbage and a partner went to a landlord, Giles Allen, to lease some land for a theater. Giles and James
agreed to a 21 year lease in which James would be allowed to build his theatre known as "The Theatre". It was located north of the London Wall
(Mabillard). Starting in 1596, when the lease for the land for the theatre was due to expire, there were many legal issues between the landlord and
tenant. There were also disputes between those involved in running the business. James Burbage died in 1567 and he left his two sons, Richard and
Cuthbert Burbage, his shares of the theatre.(Globe) The Burbage brothers took an extreme action to protect their assets because, as a result of the
dispute, they were facing eviction. The landowner had hoped he would be able to acquire the theater when the tenants left. (Shapiro) In December of
1598 while Giles Allen was away on holiday, the Burbage brothers,

Elizabethan Entertainment Essay
In Elizabethan England, before the theatre was accepted, there were various forms of entertainment. Whether one lived in a small town or the great
city of London, dances were very popular, as well as meeting with friends at the local pub for sing–alongs. Chess, checkers and tennis also happened to
be popular games at the time, along with hunting, fencing and bear–baiting for the upper class. However, once the Globe Theatre was introduced in
1599, new standards for human fun and enjoyment were created (Mabillard). Because of the Globe Theatre, talented actors, and brilliant playwrights
such as William Shakespeare, the world of entertainment has forever been changed. Before the world of theatre was popular, acting and plays were
considered taboo. Elizabethan people loved entertainment. Feasts, fairs, and festivals were all common occurrences throughout the year, a lot of which
were dictated by the Church and religious affiliations. Whenever there was something to celebrate, such as a betrothal, wedding, or a victory, the people
of Elizabethan England were always eager to oblige. Linda Alchin writes that court entertainment was often a regular, nightly occurrence "combined
with feasts, jousts and banquets often accompanied by music and dancing" (Alchin). All classes seemed to delight in the vicious form of entertainment
known as bear–baiting, but it was without doubt Queen Elizabeth's favourite pastime. Dogs would be pitted against bears or bulls and onlookers would

Dr. John C. Adams drew 15 scale models of the Globe playhouse, as the original might have looked. Dr. Adams wrote many books about the Globe,
but his most famous was The Globe Playhouse. The Harvard University Press published it in 1942, and it is now widely recognized as "the most
complete and integrated statement that Shakespearean scholarship has yet produced" (Irwin Smith). His main purpose of drawing these blueprints was
to put his conclusions into a three–dimensional form by creating a scale model. He finished it in early 1950. Anyone who has adequate knowledge
about the Globe can interpret his drawings, but a teenager or young adult who may not be familiar with The Globe would most likely be able to

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, opened in 1599, is well known as the home of Shakespeare's greatest works and performances. Shakespeare's troupe, Lord
Chamberlain's Men, built the first Globe Theatre from the lumber of another theater that was torn down. Before the construction of the theater, the
owners of the original theater offered Shakespeare and four other members of his troupe an opportunity to be part owners of the new Globe Theatre,
and they were quick to accept. After the opening the Globe became a hub for entertainment. Some of Shakespeare's works performed at The Globe

Theater and theatrical performances are as old as time and thanks to Shakespeare, there are incredible pieces for performers and audiences alike to
enjoy for the next several thousand years. The circular design of the theater created a bond between the actors on the stage and the audience. The
Globe brought together people of all castes and unified them through theater. As long as someone had a penny to spare, they could see a show at The
Globe, allowing everyone the unique theatrical experience The Globe provided. The Globe still offers performances and camps for youth to learn
about theater in the place where Shakespeare entertained. This fact alone is a testament to the importance of The Globe and Shakespeare's works.
With the efforts of Shakespeare, his troupe, and other actors and writers of his time theater has grown into a unifying form of entertainment for all
people (possibly even across The Globe). The Globe will forever serve as the home that raised theatrical performances into the extravagant, sometimes
life changing, experiences they have become and will always continue to

Despite numerous studies that show the importance of risk taking in the development of children, nowadays, very few are the playgrounds which
provide opportunities for risk and a relative danger. A difference has to be made between the idea of risk and the one of danger. In fact, if danger

William Shakespeare One of the most notorious authors in all of literature, who composed outstanding works such as Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet,

The Elizabethan Er The New Form Of Entertainment
In England, all the way back to the year 1567, a man by the name of John Brayne built the first theater that would soon become one of Englands
favorite forms of entertainment. Elizabethan Theaters were used to perform plays, poems, and a few other things to the people of England. In total,
there were eight theaters that were scattered all throughout England. The Elizabethan era lived a good long life, and was very successful in
entertaining the people during it 's time. However, all good things must come to an end, and eventually, that is what happened to the theaters. The
introduction of Elizabethan Theaters changed the country of England by giving the people a new form of entertainment, and to showcase what
playwrights and poets were capable of during the time the era lasted. In the early days of England, the people had many forms of entertainment. Some
examples include, checkers and chess, pubs, pit fighting, and much more. In the year 1567, England was introduced to a whole new form of
entertainment. During this year, a man named John Brayne started to build the first Elizabethan Theater. John Brayne built "The Red Lion", and it was
located in Whitechapel, London. The Red Lion, was more of just a, not too serious, playhouse meant to entertain a few people here and there. Though
it was meant to entertain only a few, the theater was a big hit with the people, and soon, other theaters started popping up, thanks to the first of it 's
kind, the Red Lion theater. Ten

The Globe Theatre Research Paper
The Globe Theatre became what it is today because of its history. What was its history exactly? Unfortunately, those are two questions many people
don't have an answer to. So, what is the history? The history of The Globe Theatre comes from a building known as The Theatre. The Theatre, had
been built by James Burbage, in Shoreditch (District in the East End of London) in 1576. The Burbage's had a 20–year lease of the land where the
theater had been built. When the lease was up, the landlord intended on knocking the theater down. However, with the lease ending, James Burbage
built the theatre in Blackfriars as a replacement. Unfortunately the wealthy people of Blackfriars persuaded the government to forbid its use for plays.
James Burbage died in 1597. The members of the Lord Chamberlain's Men had to rent a theater. In 1598, they decided to build a theater of their own.
The Burbage's sons got their fathers inheritance, Cuthbert and Richard, which were connected the Blackfriars, they formed an agreement with
Shakespeare and a few other actors, who became partners for the new Globe. Each member had their own share, the two brothers, Cuthbert and
Richard, got a bigger share than the others. Each person's shares became smaller as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and the roofed Blackfriars in the winter. If they had wanted to, they could have rented a theater to someone else, since there was a shortage of theaters
in London during this time. They were also given another choice to change to the Blackfriars for good in 1613, when the Globe burned down to the
ground, its roofing had accidentally got set on fire by a cannon during a performance of Henry VIII. However, with the importance and the sentimental
value of the theater the members decided to rebuild the Globe better than it had been

Social Responsibility In Greek Theatre
Throughout the different eras of theatre, the Greek, Roman, Medieval, Commedia, and Shakespearean performers all contributed to the culture of the
societies of they were in. However, the level of "social responsibility" that was prevalent in these eras was dependent on whether or not government
promoted theatre as a means of enlightening the general public. As a result, the manner in which theatre was presented contributed to the evolution of
the particular society either positively or negatively. During the era of Greek theatre, which lasted from 550 B.C. to 220 B.C., government, art,
education, science, and medicine were all viewed as equally important. Akropolis, which was the center of government and thought, espoused the
ideals of empowerment and making one's self and society better. Plays that were performed made people ask questions in order to push society
forward, and the government created theatre in this era so that it can be critiqued. The Festival of Dionysus, which was a weeks–long festival, featured
various artists from different fields showcasing their talents, including theatre performances that ran all day. At the same time, love–making and
drinking was encouraged (Dionysus is the god of wine and fertility) as a means of opening up one's state of mind. At the performances of these plays,
actors wore masks, which indicated the type of character they were, and the masks had attachments so that people could hear what they were saying,

"Architecture In Words", by Louise Pelletier outlines a comprehensible history of the development of art performance space. On his literature review,
he focuses on the early development of theatre with tiered seating on a hill side and circular acting platform. Francis Reid followed this spatial which
is stating the need to get audience and performers closer together was satisfied by placing seating in a semi circle around the performance. Theatre
performance was a huge success from the development of the Globe theatre in 1559. The Globe Theatre was an open arena based on the Roman

Beatrice is a bit skeptical about what Benedick said, so he tells her he will do anything for her. Beatrice requests him to kill his best friend, Claudio.
Initially, Benedick rejects this request, but eventually with some convincing he changes his mind and agrees to challenge Claudio in a dual. This
scene is important for their relationship because they are finally confessing their love for each other. It also shows that Benedick is willing to do
anything for Beatrice. He realizes that he might kill his best friend for Beatrice or that he will get killed. He is willing to put his life on the line for her.
Tate and Tennant play Beatrice and Benedick in this play. Tate plays this scene in a very dramatic and comical way. Tennant plays this scene in a
serious, unemotional way. Benedick says, "I do love nothing in the world so well as you: is not that strange?" He speaks louder to confess his
love to Beatrice. Beatrice is shocked and starts breathing heavy. She stares at him. This reveals that Tate is very dramatic. She is very over the
top. In situations, like this, that are supposed to be serious, she responds in a more comical way. She does this because of her background in
comedy. She is one of England's most popular comedians. Tennant hardly uses any emotions when he tells Tate that he loves her. It is as if he really

The Elizabethan Era is said to have been one of the most interesting periods in the History of England. The Era being named after Queen Elizabeth the
I, also called the Virgin Queen is not only famous for its monarchy and explorers but it was also the era of the appearance of the very first theatres in
England ( Alchin,1). The Elizabethan theatre was a booming business for England, and the people loved it. However, there was one thing that the
theatre was missing, women. Queen Elizabeth the I saw to the prohibition of female actresses on stage. Being an actress was not considered a reliable
profession and it was immoral, therefore young boys played the roles of women ( Alchin, 1). Court Masques were a special form of entertainment ...

It was very clear back then what expectations were desired of men and women. Men' role in society was going of to work to provide for their
families, whilst the role of women in society was to learn to keep quiet and to maintain a good household. By law there were certain jobs that
women were prohibited to work in, some of these include medicine, law and politics. It would all depend on one's social class what sort of an
education one would receive. Elizabethan women from wealthy and noble families would sometimes be privileged by having a minor education,
whilst the lower class Elizabethan women would receive none of any kind, instead they were taught household duties (Sharnette, 2). In
Elizabethan history, women who were not married were considered threats to society as they were seen upon as witches. There are many cases of
women being persecuted and hunted as witches then burnt to the stake for their presumed crimes. Women in that era were taught to know their
place as inferior to men. By law and with acceptance from the parents girls from the age of only 12 were allowed to get married (Lin, 1). The
church that played a massive role in society and everyday life expressed that; " Women in her greatest perfection was made to serve and obey
men"(John Knox). In Elizabethan society men were completely dominant over women and there was no say in the matter. Family fortunes would be
passed on from male hair to the next male hair even if the women were older and seemed entitled to it. The only exception of this rule was the
monarchy (Sharnette,2). Therefore there was no chance in thinking that women could freely decide to take up a career on stage as a talented actress,
women were put in their place and were made to stay

The Renaissance And Elizabethan Era
The Renaissance and Elizabethan era were vital times in the rebirth of the lost art form of Greek and Roman times: Acting/Playwriting. During the
Elizabethan era, playhouses formed to fill the void. There was four main theaters during that time, but one shined brighter than the rest. That one was
known as the Globe theater. As many others were built, the Globe Theater was built on the south bank of the River Thames. It was erected around
1599 and was created for Lord Chamberlin's men, who bought and owned the theater until they moved it across the river. With the creation of this
theater, a golden era was about to dawn. Although it was not the first of its kind, the Globe Theater is the most influential theater in England, as it

Second point has to be implied, but since it says that it goes out into a circular pit, so it could be taken as use of a circular stage. The shape of the
stage is unclear, but that is why the Globe Theater will always be a world renowned theater. Second of all, it could be noted that Shakespeare is the
greatest playwright of all time. Shakespeare is likely responsible for the creation of over three dozen plays, in which most are world renowned.
Most plays were written and performed at the Globe Theater;, "Shakespeare was one of the most popular playwrights of this time and often if you
were going to go see a play performed it was most likely written by him" (Thomas). The Globe Theater was a breeding ground, for the most part, his
own work. The Theater was built for The "Chamberlain's Men, and since Shakespeare was a part of it, it was common knowledge that his plays were
being performed. Though his stardom went far beyond just being performed at the Globe Theater. His plays were powerful in that they expanded the
horizons of the English right on the cusp of colonization, "Shakespeare's mind roamed free: into the temples of lost civilisations and onto dusty ancient
battlefields; up to the ramparts of Danish castles and Scottish hill forts; across swaths of the eastern Mediterranean and down through the Levant into
Turkey and Egypt. He had a fascination with Italy, especially the glittering cosmopolitan city of Venice (setting for two plays, The

Children 's Theatre : An Activity I Have Positive, First...
Children's theatre is an activity I have positive, first–hand experience in. I have participated in shows and productions in my community and school for
as long as I can remember, and I loved every second of it. Since I have a history with the topic, I believed it would be a smart idea to volunteer my
time with some sort of children's theatre organization. I have always known how beneficial children's theatre has been to me in my own life,
however, I will show how everyone's involvement in community children's theatre bears a multitude of positive effects. I decided to volunteer with
the Portsmouth Area Arts Council Children's Theatre, or PACT for short. After this assignment is due, I will still be volunteering with them, helping
backstage with their latest production, Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr, which will be performed on the Vern Riffe Center's main stage in
November. However, for the few weeks I was with them recently, I was able to help at rehearsals for the show. I did everything from helping children
with homework to making sure the kids in the cast were behaving and paying attention to what was happening. These responsibilities, along with
observing the kids ' behaviors, allowed me to see how being a part of a production can positively impact children's lives. Perhaps the greatest and most
apparent benefit to children involved in children's theatre is the friendships that they make. You do not even have to spend a full rehearsal time at the
theater to

James Parkinson And Geisenheimer's Essay
Did you know that 60,000 people are diagnosed with Parkinson's and 700,000 people suffer from Alzheimer's each year? Alzheimer's and
Parkinson's date back to the 1700's and 1800's to when they were discovered. These illnesses are just as terrifying to the families as it is to the patient.
Because of the scare in the diseases, these families wanted answers. The patients were sent to James Parkinson and Alois Alzheimer which were the
doctors who diagnosed these illnesses. Alois Alzheimer was born on June 14, 1864 in a small Bavarian town in Marktbreit Germany (Alois, A1).
He was born into a catholic family and had an early interest in science. His father was a royal notary in the kingdom of Bavaria, and because of his

The Reign Of Queen Elizabeth I And The Elizabethan Era
The Elizabethan Era also known as the golden age in English history is associated with the reign of Queen Elizabeth I and the Elizabethan Theater.
Although life was not easy during the Elizabethan era it was one of the most progressive times in history and marked the beginning of the Elizabethan
theatre which still to this day influences theatre and the way theatre is presented .
The Elizabethan Era began in 1588 and ended in 1603 during Queen Elizabeth I reign England 's capital and largest city, London grew to about two
hundred thousand people. London 's population was divided into three main sections a small but powerful population of wealthy nobles, a prospering
middle class, and a large and impoverished lower class living in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only about one–fifth of the population could sign their own names at the beginning of the era but by Elizabeth 's death about one–third of the
population was literate.
Majority of the Elizabethan population were very poor roughly 3 percent of the population consisted of wealthy nobles. Nobles were the elite men
and women of society much like the upper class in today's society. Elizabethan Women were obedient to men and dependent on their male relatives
to support them and since there were no school for women they were tutored at home and weren't allowed to enter university. Women also couldn't be
heirs to their fathers titles, vote , join the military ,or become doctors and lawyers .Along with all this woman had to preserve there virginity until
marriage or they would be looked down upon or belittled however if they were raped they were punished instead of the rapist because during this time
men could do whatever they desired to do in life.
The Elizabethan Era is known for the intricate outfits that men and women wore to court and elite social functions. The wealthy wore furs and jewels,
and the cloth of their garments featured extravagant embroidery. The poor and even the middle classes dressed less extravagant and instead more
simply. Elizabethan theatres such as the globe theatre were popular amongst the rich and the poor the poor were called groundlings or penny knaves
and would pay a penny to stand in front of

London's Street Art Scene
Walking through the streets of London is an experience on its own, but when one takes a moment to truly observe, that's when the (not–so)
underground world of street art opens up. Nearly every surface, even the discarded gum on the ground, is covered in brightly rendered and dizzyingly
beautiful works painted by renown street artists (like Ben Wilson and Shepard Fairey), and unknown artists alike. Camilla Walala, a street artist,
recently painted the entire façade of the SpliceTV building in Shoreditch, London effectively transforming the plain building into a piece of living art.
Camilla's work along with countless others proves that the colorful streets of London have far outgrown the term "graffiti" and London has now
emerged as fully... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the fact that punk isn't a worldwide ideology anymore, there isn't a way to discuss modern street art in London without first discussing the
origins of the art form: the punks. 1974 to 1978 marked a near double increase of unemployment and poverty in London, according to David Ensminger
in the "Definitions, Aesthetic, and History" section of his book, Visual Vitriol: The Street Art and Subcultures of the Punk and Hardcore Generation.
This, in conjunction with the ideological consumerist society of the time was the prefect breeding ground for the punk movement, and therefore, street
art, to surface. Alienation from mainstream society served as the universal catalyst for the beginnings of the punk movement. The youth of London, and
worldwide for that matter, felt completely disenfranchised with everyday life and the consumerism that accompanied it. The harsh and unforgiving
aesthetics (political references, sexual innuendos, and stark rejection of norms) used in the punk movement in London was fueled by one particular
example: the Paris Riots of 1968. The Paris Riots were, at its core, a war against conservatism."In no other country did a student rebellion almost bring
down a government," wrote the Independent; the brashness of the young Parisians was noticed by the disenfranchised youth of London. The young
Londoners of 1968 and beyond latched onto the core ideas of the Paris Riots,

William Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Essay
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
The Globe Theater, an entertainment outlet for all people of that time, provided a place for Shakespeare's plays to be performed. It was the third and
most famous playhouse in London. When it was built, it was one of the most important playhouses in London. The Globe's architecture was intriguing
for its time and its life was long and prosperous.
The Globe was built by two brothers, Cuthbert and Richard Burbage. They had inherited the Globe's predecessor, The Theatre, from their father, James
Burbage (Williams 365). Fearing their lease would run out, the brothers dismantled it and carried the materials to Bankside, where the Swan and Rose
already stood (Britanica). It was built ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Until 1600, no more than two companies had been licensed at any one time to perform daily within the reach of London. Half the shares were kept by
the Burbages, the rest going to the Chamberlain's Men which Shakespeare was a member (Britanica). Each of the sixteen shareholders of the globe
made about 25 pounds (Williams 365). When James came to the throne in 1603, he favored the Globe, bringing it success (Andrews 167). "One night
before a planned revolt, The Chamberlain's company was asked to perform Richard II in order to instill mutinous thoughts in the audience." (Westerhof)
The admission to the Globe was one shilling to the boxes. Lee stated that the general admission was one penny, and a stool on the stage was
sixpence. Posters, or bills, were placed throughout London on rails and posts. John Northbrooke said in 1579, "They used to set up their bills upon
posts some certain days before to admonish people to make resort to their theatres." The Globe was thought to have gotten its name from the sign
representing Hercules or Atlas carrying the globe with the motto, "All the World's a Stage." (Williams 365)
In 1613, the Globe burnt down accidentally during a performance of Henry VIII (Miller–Schutz 21). It was set on fire by a cannon set off to mark the
King's entrance onstage in a scene at Cardinal Woshey's Palace. The entire theatre was destroyed in one hour (Britanica). It was rebuilt immediately with

How Did Shakespeare Influence The American Theatre
There are lots of important things that were created in the Renaissance. Drama was one of the most impressive inventions that they improved. One
of the theaters that they had was the Globe Theater. Even though the Globe Theater was destined for failure, it became successful due to
Shakespeare and the support of the Royal Monarch. Before understanding Shakespeare and his impact on the Globe you have to know a little bit
of information on plays and prediction in the Renaissance time period. The plays before Shakespeare connected more to a religious point of view
and the morals were more simple(Currie,109). Playwrights were based off of morals for the writing in the books, just like how to day we have movies
based off books. The only difference is that the plays were played of of religious books. An example of one of their most common morals Stephen
Currie writes in a book, "One person is example for everyone". There was two theaters and 160,000... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Summary(475) The Globe Theater was established by Shakespeare's acting company, Lord Chamberlain's Men, in 1599. It was composed of 5 brilliant
actors: Augustine Phillips, Will Kempe, Thomas Pope, John Heminge, andWilliam Shakespeare. Shakespeare's wealth and career developed in this

It could have had an emphasis on social class and identity. Religious reasons could also play a major role in deciding styles for clothing. Generally
men of this period wore heavily puffed clothing of a silk or thick cotton material. These also had the benefits of warming one up in a cold winter
day. Layers were used in outfits to create a puffing image. The outfit would usually be completed with a fur, leather, or velvet hat. Because of
Spain's growing empire, the influence from this region brought over a variety clothing styles. It seems that generally people back then all wore
thick layers even in hot weather. Outfits were very structured and rigid, possibly due to preserving a straight back for great posture and manners.
Many accessories were added to increase one's image and social stature. Usually, outfits included a black color. This is the first time that black is
introduced into clothing. Black clothes would have the effect of making one seem sleeker in figure and it would complement many different
colors of inside layers or accessories. Black has the great effect of highlighting colors on top of the mono color surface. People back then could
have worn this color to show off their power by emphasizing the silver or gold jewelry. In this period of time, slimmer shoe designs were
introduced for men. They would occasionally have ribbon decor on them in a puffing format. This made walking or doing daily activities easier
because the shoes were more comfortable. Codpieces also became popular in men's fashion of this time. In women's fashion, dresses were more
popular. Like in many older civilizations, very rigid and structures dresses were used. These were basically cases for humans to help them keep a
good posture and figure. The insides of the dresses would be lined with wire to restrict the woman's figure and squish and mold the body into a certain
hourglass shape. The torso would be

the third closure of the Globe was when the Puritans tried to shut it down. Some people were Puritans and protested against the theaters. "The first
Globe Theatre was built due to the refusal of a puritan called Giles Allen to renew the lease of the 'Theatre'. The Puritans gained additional power and

What Is The Significance Of The Globe Theatre
The Globe Theatre is an open–air playhouse which is considered one of the most famous theatres in the world. Many of Shakespeare's plays were
written so that they could be performed in the theatre, and he was a part of the company that constructed and owned it. The theatre was built during a
time whereby there was an entertainment vacuum in London, and was thus hugely popular amongst the masses for the variety of plays that graced its
stage. Unfortunately, it was shut down and demolished in less than a hundred years but it remains as one of theatrical history's most significant icons.
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre was originally an Elizabethan theatre that was built in 1599 in London, and it was named as such due to the fact that
Shakespeare wrote multiple plays which were staged there. It was one of the major theatres in the area it was built in (Southwark) along with the Rose

This is presumably Lord Chamberlain's Men's motto, and it was paired with a logo that depicted Hercules carrying the world (the globe) on his
shoulders. The theatre's third level housed a small structure supported by columns from the stage, and this was where announcements were made and
flags which advertised new plays were flown here.
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre was truly the most magnificent theatre that was built in its time, and a replica of it exists today in the same location it
was originally built in. Other replicas such as the Panasonic Globe Theatre in Tokyo have also been built around the world, albeit not as accurate as
the first one in Southwark is. This effectively proves how iconic the Globe Theatre is in our world, both in the past and present. Hence, one can
anticipate the theatre's strong foothold over architectural design for new theatres for generations to

He inspired others in Elizabethan Theatre, while also assisting in the construction of the well known Globe Theatre. He also was a very good friend

but it inspired the construction of a brand new theatre in 1997 named Shakespeare's Globe. This particular theatre not only modeled after what the
original Globe Theatre looked like, but it also introduced and hosted many plays over the years. Richard Burbage may not have done a whole lot for

Elizabethan theatres back in the day. The theatre was constructed in a rectangular fashion on the inside, which was very different and unusual for most

Richard Burbage and Company. While there is little known about the Elizabethan and Jacobean period acting, there is one actor in particular who
stands apart for the rest, so much so that his name and renown has lasted over four hundred years. Richard Burbage has been hailed as the greatest
actor of his time and from tracing his life through the years, it becomes apparent how he earned recognition. With family members including a
member of the most famous acting company of his time to collaborating with the Bard himself, it's no wonder why his legacy has endured centuries.
Richard Burbage was the younger brother of Cuthbert Burbage and son to James Burbage, a carpenter who later became an actor and according to
Cuthbert was "' the first builder of play houses" in England" (Stopes qtd in Es 235). Built in 1576, The Theatre in Shoreditch was indeed the first
permanent playhouse in the country, brought into existence as a result of James' annoyance at appealing to innkeeper's to use their courtyard in
addition to his realization that there was more far more profit to be gained with a permanent theater (Gurr 189; Brook 9–10). While public theaters
were illegal within London's city limits private theaters were fine. In 1596, James Burbage bought the private theater Blackfriars within the city for six

1990s, it had excessively numerous distribution centres and not very many individuals. This was the point at which any semblance of artists such as
Alexander McQueen, Tracey Emin and Gary Hume kicked pulled in and off working here. With various occasions and displays occurring, the range
further pulled in designers, movie producers and others. Before long, this ruined and purge region got changed into a masterful society with ... Show

Taking a Look at the Britannia Panopticon
"The Britannia Panopticon is not the sort of heritage you walk about gazing at while thinking, 'Isn't that pretty'," admitted the music hall's preservation
director Judith Bowers. She claims that a truly restored Panopticon would have to reflect its thousand–strong poor and even "rough" audience, paying
tribute to the folk who frequented the theatre over its long history.
The Panopticon was built in 1857 on the site of an old warehouse by the partnership of little–known architect Thomas Gildard and his brother–in–law
H.M. McFarlane. The building, which was born as a music hall and can be counted among the first to get electricity in Glasgow, became one of the
earliest establishments to be put into moving picture. It also housed freak shows, carnivals, waxworks and even an indoor zoo attracting a diverse
audience. It came to be called a "people's theatre" in the hands of its most notable owner A.E. Pickard – a notorious business man, millionaire and quite
the eccentric person. Unblemished or nearly intact purpose–built theatres from an early age are extremely rare in Britain. This is due to the fact that
theatres that were failing financially were razed by the dozens in order to sell the land. Even financially successful theatres were razed so that they
could be rebuilt bigger and better. Consequently, Britannia Music Hall, one of the few remaining examples of a nineteenth–century music hall, is worth
restoration and preservation. Other historic theatre buildings, like the

Otto Schade

  • 1. Otto Schade One of the top places in London to view amazing street art besides the Leake Street Tunnel, Shoreditch and Brick Lane, is the colourful Camden Town. Nestled along the side streets off Camden High Street and Chalk Farm Road you can find work from many well renowned, international and local artists such as Otto Schade, Onesto, Pegasus and Gnasher. Slowly succumbing to thoughtless tagging, this John Lennon piece by Gnasher was created in early 2015 and is located on Jamestown Road, painted on the side of the Oxford Arms Pub. Originally created as an advertisement for Sony Music in August 2015 (the Sony logo has since been painted over), these UV Owls by Oliver Switch (UK) found on Jamestown Road in Camden have been highlighted and outlined with ... Shoreditch being another great hot spot. Also located on Hawley Street, you will find this piece titled 'Tagging of the Mona Lisa' by Dotmaster. In August 2015, Dotmaster in association with The Real Art of Street Art, put up several artworks around Camden Town. Below is one of several 'Made for Instagram' works that Dotmaster also created. These pieces can be found scattered around Hawley Street, Hawley Mews and Hartland Road. These 2 beautiful murals, (pictured above and below) are both recent additions to Hawley Mews and were created as part of an international collaboration between artists Himbad (UK), Marina Zumi (Argentina) and Alise Pasquini (Italy), and in association with The Real Art of Street Art. Pasquini's piece features a young girl sat beside a very large, yet, seemingly protective cheetah, whilst Himbad and Zumi's pieces both feature desert foxes, the 3 artworks linked together by a shared ... • 2. The Globe Theatre : The Importance And Influence Of The... The motto and saying of the Globe theatre is "Totus Mundus Agit Histrionem", which meant "The Whole World is a Playhouse." Perhaps this means, since it is called the "Globe" Theatre, that the plays here can be shared throughout the whole world, "and from its circular shape" (Gurr), from which it was built. The Globe Theatre was one the most best places to watch a play in the Elizabethan era, because the plays had an important lesson to teach that still has an affect and emotion on society today when these stories are told to other people. So that brings the question: what is the Globe Theatre, and why is it such a great historical landmark? The Globe Theatre had many important characteristics that made it famous, such as how it began, where it was built, the structure, many different features, and how it contributed to the Elizabethan Era. The Origin of the Globe Theatre all started with Shakespeare and the Lord Chamberlain's men. The Lord Chamberlain's men were a group of actors that worked for Shakespeare, acted, and participated in plays that Shakespeare wrote. "Christopher Marlowe, who inspired Shakespeare, was born in the same year as him but was active in theatres before he was." (Hartnoll 72–90) From the inspiration, "Shakespeare and the Lord Chamberlain's men both paid into building the Globe Theatre" (Gurr) and was "built in 1599 by Cuthbert Burbage." (Mabillard) This theatre was in Southwark, London, just like the Rose and Swan Theatres. The structure of the Theatre was very important back in the Elizabethan era as well. Some key parts that were included into the building and design of the Globe Theatre included that "the timber that was used to build the Globe Theatre was the same timber that was used to build the original theatre." (Evans) The original theatre was built by Richard Burbage's father, James Burbage in 1576, therefore, when the Globe theatre was built, the timber was 23 years old! Another key part of the design of the Globe Theatre is that it was built similar to the Coliseum, but in a smaller scale. The Coliseum in Rome had a circular shape just like the Globe Theatre, the reason the Globe theatre was built to this sort of design is that Classic Greek and Roman architecture was ... • 3. How Did Elizabethan Theater Affect Popular Entertainment? How did Elizabethan theater affect popular entertainment? It affected popular entertainment massively at the time because it was very different than anything that had been popular entertainment before it and because even though it was popular it attracted a lot of criticism from the English Society. It came about in a time when drama shifted from religious to a secular function in society. The Elizabethan Theater lasted from the end of the 16th century and well into the 17th century. And it set out the stage for some actors very well–known even today. From the violence that was prevalent because of the Black Death, people turned to the theater for many reasons. Elizabethan theatre was popular for its time because Queen Elizabeth encouraged the arts, it was somewhere for every social class to go, and people could relate to the plays. One of the reasons that Elizabethan theatre was so popular was that it was enjoyed by Queen Elizabeth herself. Elizabeth loved learning new things. She would read and study for hours at a time. She also had a lot of knowledge when it came to history. She could read books in Latin and French. When she grew older, she could translate classic works into English. She also enjoyed writing and reading poetry, and a few of her poems still exist today. Elizabeth was also into arts and literature. She loved watching plays and dramatic performances. "She hired her own company of actors called "The Queen's Players." The art spread because of the queen. Her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As London is the capital of England it has always been at the forefront of development, but other different areas of London have progressed at different speeds, meaning that some areas have been left waiting for regeneration whilst others have already developed. Regeneration is defined as the revitalisation of a place or community. Regeneration is both a process and an outcome . In the 1920s there were many large slums including Old Nichol, situated in Shoreditch. The conditions in the slums were well documented by Irene Barclay, who was a chartered surveyor and wanted to address social need and her actions were well appreciated by... The less developed parts of London, even after the attempt to regenerate the area, was heavily affected by war time bombing second only to the City of London causing a need for a total overhaul of the area with more modern development. Elephant and Castle was one of the areas devastated and the district was categorised as part of 'Central Areas Needing Renewal' by John Forshaw and Patrick Abercrombie . • 6. The History Of The Globe Theatre Luke Hallfrisch Prof. Rebecca Thornberry Intro to theater October 28, 2016 The History of the Globe Theatre Today we know of The Globe Theatre on because of the famous playwright and director known as William Shakespeare. The events which took place in The Globe's past and what is its future may be, have become, and will be, an important part of the history of theater and drama. This paper will discuss the history of the Globe theatre, the importance it held at its time, and the importance of The Globe Theater now and in the future. In 1576, during the Elizabethan era, James Burbage and a partner went to a landlord, Giles Allen, to lease some land for a theater. Giles and James agreed to a 21 year lease in which James would be allowed to build his theatre known as "The Theatre". It was located north of the London Wall (Mabillard). Starting in 1596, when the lease for the land for the theatre was due to expire, there were many legal issues between the landlord and tenant. There were also disputes between those involved in running the business. James Burbage died in 1567 and he left his two sons, Richard and Cuthbert Burbage, his shares of the theatre.(Globe) The Burbage brothers took an extreme action to protect their assets because, as a result of the dispute, they were facing eviction. The landowner had hoped he would be able to acquire the theater when the tenants left. (Shapiro) In December of 1598 while Giles Allen was away on holiday, the Burbage brothers, ... • 7. Elizabethan Entertainment Essay In Elizabethan England, before the theatre was accepted, there were various forms of entertainment. Whether one lived in a small town or the great city of London, dances were very popular, as well as meeting with friends at the local pub for sing–alongs. Chess, checkers and tennis also happened to be popular games at the time, along with hunting, fencing and bear–baiting for the upper class. However, once the Globe Theatre was introduced in 1599, new standards for human fun and enjoyment were created (Mabillard). Because of the Globe Theatre, talented actors, and brilliant playwrights such as William Shakespeare, the world of entertainment has forever been changed. Before the world of theatre was popular, acting and plays were considered taboo. Elizabethan people loved entertainment. Feasts, fairs, and festivals were all common occurrences throughout the year, a lot of which were dictated by the Church and religious affiliations. Whenever there was something to celebrate, such as a betrothal, wedding, or a victory, the people of Elizabethan England were always eager to oblige. Linda Alchin writes that court entertainment was often a regular, nightly occurrence "combined with feasts, jousts and banquets often accompanied by music and dancing" (Alchin). All classes seemed to delight in the vicious form of entertainment known as bear–baiting, but it was without doubt Queen Elizabeth's favourite pastime. Dogs would be pitted against bears or bulls and onlookers would gather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dr. Adams wrote many books about the Globe, but his most famous was The Globe Playhouse. The Harvard University Press published it in 1942, and it is now widely recognized as "the most complete and integrated statement that Shakespearean scholarship has yet produced" (Irwin Smith). His main purpose of drawing these blueprints was to put his conclusions into a three–dimensional form by creating a scale model. He finished it in early 1950. Men' role in society was going of to work to provide for their families, whilst the role of women in society was to learn to keep quiet and to maintain a good household. By law there were certain jobs that women were prohibited to work in, some of these include medicine, law and politics. It would all depend on one's social class what sort of an education one would receive. Elizabethan women from wealthy and noble families would sometimes be privileged by having a minor education, whilst the lower class Elizabethan women would receive none of any kind, instead they were taught household duties (Sharnette, 2). In Elizabethan history, women who were not married were considered threats to society as they were seen upon as witches. There are many cases of women being persecuted and hunted as witches then burnt to the stake for their presumed crimes. Women in that era were taught to know their place as inferior to men. • 28. William Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Essay Shakespeare's Globe Theatre The Globe Theater, an entertainment outlet for all people of that time, provided a place for Shakespeare's plays to be performed. It was the third and most famous playhouse in London. When it was built, it was one of the most important playhouses in London. The Globe's architecture was intriguing for its time and its life was long and prosperous. The Globe was built by two brothers, Cuthbert and Richard Burbage. They had inherited the Globe's predecessor, The Theatre, from their father, James Burbage (Williams 365). Fearing their lease would run out, the brothers dismantled it and carried the materials to Bankside, where the Swan and Rose already stood (Britanica). It was built ... Half the shares were kept by the Burbages, the rest going to the Chamberlain's Men which Shakespeare was a member (Britanica). Each of the sixteen shareholders of the globe made about 25 pounds (Williams 365). When James came to the throne in 1603, he favored the Globe, bringing it success (Andrews 167). "One night before a planned revolt, The Chamberlain's company was asked to perform Richard II in order to instill mutinous thoughts in the audience." (Westerhof) The admission to the Globe was one shilling to the boxes. Lee stated that the general admission was one penny, and a stool on the stage was sixpence. Posters, or bills, were placed throughout London on rails and posts. John Northbrooke said in 1579, "They used to set up their bills upon posts some certain days before to admonish people to make resort to their theatres." The Globe was thought to have gotten its name from the sign representing Hercules or Atlas carrying the globe with the motto, "All the World's a Stage." (Williams 365) In 1613, the Globe burnt down accidentally during a performance of Henry VIII (Miller–Schutz 21). It was set on fire by a cannon set off to mark the King's entrance onstage in a scene at Cardinal Woshey's Palace. The entire theatre was destroyed in one hour (Britanica). • 29. How Did Shakespeare Influence The American Theatre There are lots of important things that were created in the Renaissance. Drama was one of the most impressive inventions that they improved. One of the theaters that they had was the Globe Theater. Even though the Globe Theater was destined for failure, it became successful due to Shakespeare and the support of the Royal Monarch. Before understanding Shakespeare and his impact on the Globe you have to know a little bit of information on plays and prediction in the Renaissance time period. The plays before Shakespeare connected more to a religious point of view and the morals were more simple(Currie,109). Playwrights were based off of morals for the writing in the books, just like how to day we have movies based off books. The only difference is that the plays were played of of religious books. An example of one of their most common morals Stephen Currie writes in a book, "One person is example for everyone". There was two theaters and 160,000... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It could have had an emphasis on social class and identity. Religious reasons could also play a major role in deciding styles for clothing. Generally men of this period wore heavily puffed clothing of a silk or thick cotton material. These also had the benefits of warming one up in a cold winter day. Layers were used in outfits to create a puffing image. The outfit would usually be completed with a fur, leather, or velvet hat. Because of Spain's growing empire, the influence from this region brought over a variety clothing styles. It seems that generally people back then all wore thick layers even in hot weather. Outfits were very structured and rigid, possibly due to preserving a straight back for great posture and manners. Many accessories were added to increase one's image and social stature. Usually, outfits included a black color. This is the first time that black is introduced into clothing. Black clothes would have the effect of making one seem sleeker in figure and it would complement many different colors of inside layers or accessories. Black has the great effect of highlighting colors on top of the mono color surface. People back then could have worn this color to show off their power by emphasizing the silver or gold jewelry. In this period of time, slimmer shoe designs were introduced for men. They would occasionally have ribbon decor on them in a puffing format. This made walking or doing daily activities easier because the shoes were more comfortable. Codpieces also became popular in men's fashion of this time. In women's fashion, dresses were more popular. Like in many older civilizations, very rigid and structures dresses were used. These were basically cases for humans to help them keep a good posture and figure. Many of Shakespeare's plays were written so that they could be performed in the theatre, and he was a part of the company that constructed and owned it. The theatre was built during a time whereby there was an entertainment vacuum in London, and was thus hugely popular amongst the masses for the variety of plays that graced its stage. Unfortunately, it was shut down and demolished in less than a hundred years but it remains as one of theatrical history's most significant icons. Shakespeare's Globe Theatre was originally an Elizabethan theatre that was built in 1599 in London, and it was named as such due to the fact that Shakespeare wrote multiple plays which were staged there. It was one of the major theatres in the area it was built in (Southwark) along with the Rose Theatre, Hope Theatre and Swan Theatre. As a dramatist, Shakespeare was ... Shakespeare's Globe Theatre was truly the most magnificent theatre that was built in its time, and a replica of it exists today in the same location it was originally built in. • 36. Research Paper On Richard Burbage Richard Burbage and Company. While there is little known about the Elizabethan and Jacobean period acting, there is one actor in particular who stands apart for the rest, so much so that his name and renown has lasted over four hundred years. Richard Burbage has been hailed as the greatest actor of his time and from tracing his life through the years, it becomes apparent how he earned recognition. With family members including a member of the most famous acting company of his time to collaborating with the Bard himself, it's no wonder why his legacy has endured centuries. Richard Burbage was the younger brother of Cuthbert Burbage and son to James Burbage, a carpenter who later became an actor and according to Cuthbert was "' the first builder of play houses" in England" (Stopes qtd in Es 235). Built in 1576, The Theatre in Shoreditch was indeed the first permanent playhouse in the country, brought into existence as a result of James' annoyance at appealing to innkeeper's to use their courtyard in addition to his realization that there was more far more profit to be gained with a permanent theater (Gurr 189; Brook 9–10). While public theaters were illegal within London's city limits private theaters were fine. In 1596, James Burbage bought the private theater Blackfriars within the city for six hundred pounds with the intention to convert the space into an indoor playhouse. Unfortunately,... Taking a Look at the Britannia Panopticon "The Britannia Panopticon is not the sort of heritage you walk about gazing at while thinking, 'Isn't that pretty'," admitted the music hall's preservation director Judith Bowers. She claims that a truly restored Panopticon would have to reflect its thousand–strong poor and even "rough" audience, paying tribute to the folk who frequented the theatre over its long history. The Panopticon was built in 1857 on the site of an old warehouse by the partnership of little–known architect Thomas Gildard and his brother–in–law H.M. McFarlane. The building, which was born as a music hall and can be counted among the first to get electricity in Glasgow, became one of the earliest establishments to be put into moving picture. It also housed freak shows, carnivals, waxworks and even an indoor zoo attracting a diverse audience. It came to be called a "people's theatre" in the hands of its most notable owner A.E. Pickard – a notorious business man, millionaire and quite the eccentric person. Unblemished or nearly intact purpose–built theatres from an early age are extremely rare in Britain. This is due to the fact that theatres that were failing financially were razed by the dozens in order to sell the land. Even financially successful theatres were razed so that they could be rebuilt bigger and better. Consequently, Britannia Music Hall, one of the few remaining examples of a nineteenth–century music hall, is worth restoration and preservation. Other historic theatre buildings, like the ...
