‘’ Dragaica ‘’
Drăgaica is a ritual of agricultural origin, practiced on June 24
through Muntenia, Moldova and Oltenia, near the summer
solstice. The ritual aims at the prosperity and protection of crops,
especially cereals.
Dragaica is celebrated by a dance made by a group of 5-10
girls, one of whom is chosen as Dragaica. She is dressed as a bride
and adorned with wheat spice, while the other girls dress in
white. Once established, Dragaica begins through the village and
the fields.
