Three international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are described. Doctors Without Borders was founded in 1971 by journalists and doctors in response to a famine in Nigeria. Save the Children was established in 1919 by Eglantyne Jebb to feed children affected by World War I. The Norwegian Refugee Council was created to assist UNHCR's humanitarian response to a crisis at the Iraq-Turkey border and has since become a leading provider of aid experts.
